The cap on Nathan's head is how drag queens attach wigs to their heads so they don't fall off.
Hank Azaria who plays Agador does a bunch of the voices on The Simpsons.
The scene where Robin falls with the pot and says fuck the shrimp.wasnt supposed to happen but he fell and just kept going.
This a remake of a 1978 French film called La Cage aux Folles which was based on a play.
Nathan Lane recently gave an interview where he talked about when he and Robin went on Oprah to promote the movie and Oprah started asking how he was so good at the "girl things" and he hadn't come out yet so Robin diverted the conversation away from that topic to protect Nathan.

This movie is a masterpiece... and it really comes down to the acting in my opinion. Everyone nailed their parts and the comedic timing was gold. Special shoutout to Nathan Lane (Albert)... it's HARD to play opposite Robin Williams because he always steals the show. But I think this is one film where Robin Williams was not the star of the show. That's due to the incredible acting from Nathan Lane.
Also, want to give some props to you personally... as a gay person, to sit and watch a straight man view and enjoy a film like this warms my heart. No judgment, no fear... just enjoying it for what it is. I also thought you had all the appropriate reactions and it was great how visibly angry you got at the idea that they were being asked to hide who they were. I think that says a lot about your character and morals. Bravo!

However, I watched one of Wayne’s films a few days later and damn it if he doesn’t walk just that way. I don’t know if it’s cuz he is so tall and long legged or what, but he does have a creeping little sway to his movements. Go watch him again and be amazed at how he can make that silly walk cool and tough. Loved the reaction and love your channel!

To me, this says it all about Robin's humanity..
Nathan Lane says he wasn’t ready to publicly come out of the closet when The Birdcage opened in 1996, and co-star Robin Williams helped him dodge the issue during an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
“I was not prepared at all for that,” Lane said in an interview on NBC’s Sunday Today with Willie Geist yesterday, “and I certainly wasn’t ready to go from table-to-table and tell them all I was gay. I just wanted to talk about finally [getting] a big part in a movie, and I didn’t want to make it about my sexuality.”

So glad you liked this movie. Now everyone is going to recommend To Wong Foo, which is a good movie, but it is a remake/retelling of an amazing Australian movie called "The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert". I always recommend Priscilla first as it is just the better movie.

38:38 Most wholesome moment! Brings me to tears. Never seen this movie, my wife suggests we watch it and tbh wasn't thinking of it. Now, I may have to watch it. Had to prove so much to my wife's parents that I was a good man for her. Took many years and tons of patience.

“I don’t know how to be anyone but me.”
I know you were just chatting, but those are some very wise words.
I’m a straight female, but I’m like… weird. I dunno what it is, but I have VERY rarely ever fit in anywhere. I know I sound like a pick me girl, and I don’t mean it that way. It’s not quirky or mysterious or cool. It’s freaking lonely. So I spent my youth trying to adapt. I’d find a group and try to fit in. But I was always on edge and it never came across as real. You know what it’s like to be with people who are supposed to be your best friends and be afraid to walk across the room the wrong way or order the wrong pizza toppings or especially say the wrong thing?
Took me til my mid thirties to find people I can be myself around and, oh, do I love them!
But here’s the thing. I was never not myself. You can’t BE someone else. All I was was nothing.
Won’t ever do that again. I’d rather be on my own. At least I’d get along with the company.

You know "Cheers"??!? Then you MUST watch / react to "Frasier", which is the award winning spin-off sitcom from that show. David Hyde Pierce plays his fussy brother, which the characters of this movie remind me of. He also won an Emmy for his role in that show. It's very well-written and hilarious..... you will LOVE it, I promise!

The BIRDCAGE holds a special place in my heart as it is, without a doubt, my all-time favorite comedy. I was fortunate enough to discover this cinematic gem at the tender age of 10 in the movie theater when I had the pleasure of watching it alongside my beloved grandmother. From that moment on, it swiftly captured the hearts of not just myself, but my entire family, solidifying its status as a cherished film within our household. The sheer brilliance of its dialogues resonated so deeply with us that we found ourselves frequently quoting them in our daily lives, bringing a touch of humor and joy to even the most mundane of moments.
Amid the quarantine, where uncertainty and isolation loomed large, The BIRDCAGE served as a comforting refuge for me. I sought solace in its familiar scenes and endearing characters, finding solace in the laughter it never failed to elicit. I must confess, I have indulged in the pleasure of watching this film approximately 20 times during this period of seclusion. Each viewing only reaffirmed the notion that this movie is akin to a warm, nourishing meal for my soul, providing a much-needed respite from the challenges and anxieties of the outside world. I would never be ashamed if Albert was my mother Witnessing Albert's unconditional love and care towards Val is truly remarkable.

I'm a huge fan of the original and I was dismayed when I heard they were making an American version. Boy was I wrong! This is a great movie and has held up over the years. Now he needs to watch Too Wong Foo and have his mind completely blown my Wesley Snipes and Patrick Swayze.

Another of my favourite movies! How do you do it? Grabbing popcorn and cat ...
Edit: About the cat - I told her the movie was called The Birdcage, and now I don't have the heart to set her straight. Luckily, by the time it's over, she'll have forgotten all about it.
Edit 2: Watching Armand trying to teach Albert how to be "manly" reminded me of Wylie Burp and Fievel trying to teach Tiger how to act like a dog.

i loved every part of this reaction! Pirin potty mouth, how much you liked the characters, your dogs.... The bookend of Nathan Lane in suit and Gene Hackman in drag dancing and singing together. and Hank Azaria totally showed his physical comedy chops here. He and Williams and Lane were all very gifted voice actors, amazing catalog of characters between all of them....

Not enough people, even film buffs, know or appreciate how The Birdcage's utterly fantastic techniques and how wonderfully it was made on every technical level for being such a seemingly simpler comedy. I'm not talking about the storyline or acting, both of which are great and underappreciated, but the camera movement and choices are S-tier.
