Love that Jenny remembered what quilt she made with that scrap. As a new quilter, right now I can tell you what I have made with each one of my scraps and it's nice to remember each gift I have made as I go through my scraps! Lovely memories!
Hi Jenny and Misty, I was just talking to my daughter about crumb patchwork and here you are, during our lockdown I have finished seven quilts and four of them were returned from the quilter today, three more were taken , four of them are for my great grand children for Christmas, thank you for your easy to make quilts, I watch you a lot and have made many of your quilts.
Love crumb quilting! Highly addictive, rewarding, makes me smile! Love to see the crumbs after thy are ironed, oooh love the results! Just read on this comment section, that a triangle was used to start like a long cabin! I enjoy the freedom of just sitting down to just sew! Thanks you and want you to know I love your success! God bless!
I always want to do something in my sewing room, every day, even if it is only 15 minutes. This is perfect. And, when you look at the finished quilt, you remember all the other quilts you created with these crumbs.
I loved this topic. I have been quilting for years and never heard of crumb quilting so thought I would give it a go. I love the result and although I'm not hooked exactly, I love doing it at the end of a long piecing session. The result is amazing. Thank you so much for yet another fabulous tutorial.
Just finished my first two crumb blocks! Love, love, love the template. Props to Lisa in Customer service too. My first template arrived broken and she took care of it right away. Had the replacement in just a few days! Thanks for the great tutorial and the terrific template that will let me use my crumbs as 10 inch squares.
feels good to quilt/sew without any math or thinking too much. Very freeing. I do lots of designing and precise sewing/quilting and this is a no brainer.
How liberating to hear your ironing theory! HA!! I can't wait to make some of these 10" squares from crumbs! Thank you for the lovely, beautiful person you are!
LOVE this video - the crumb quilting idea, the humor, the teamwork - the family love , the colors, the black pieces, "finished is better than perfect", the ironing freedom gift, the quilt on the wall, the 10" ruler! Thank you!
I have made crumb blocks that I have sewn into large quilts for my great grandkids.. I have so much fabric that I have to live to be 120 years old before I quit , I am 83 years old! I save way to many of tiny pieces..I live in Alaska! Love your show!
I have just recently found you on UA-cam Jenny. You are absolutely a delightful instructor. I started quilting when I retired. I still consider myself a new quilter since I Quilt from a small one bedroom apartment. I am coming to you from London Ontario Canada. Thank you for all you do! ...Blessings! Gaétane
I tried doing some crumb piecing for the first time this morning. I had so much fun! But it's not as easy as it looks. I had a hard time at first, just using random pieces, and forgetting about straight lines and right angles. I had planned to work for about 30 minutes, but when I looked at the clock, an hour and a half had gone by. I can't wait to see what my first block looks like when I trim it square. Thank you for sharing this fun idea.
In the past I have done this same concept and it is called MILE A MINUTE. Thanks for reminding me about this concept. Jenny, You are my heroine in stitching. Your positivity and not too serious slant on quilting is awesome. Thank you for all you do. The beginning of this video takes too long before actually showing sewing.
Hi Jenny and Missy I really enjoy your quilt company posts I’m from Port Elizabeth South Africa and just love how easy you make life for us all. This “crumb quilting” episode - love how you just laugh your way through mishaps. I’ve lots of blocks that could go into the biscuit barrel for crumbs I have little baggies of scraps to guess what? Lots of ideas are now rolling around inside my little brain - I’ll be sewing for 15 plus minutes at the start of my day After my first coffee of course - keep stitching and the ideas rolling - I’ve adopted your mantra - finished is better than perfect 🌟 Dianne Shaddock
I made a crumb quilt last year with tiny pieces, but didn't make it into blocks, it was just like a crazy quilt and really enjoyable to make. I was thinking of making another with just batik fabrics, the colours are gorgeous!
I know this is a long time ago but it reminds me of my best friend. When we sew anything from pot holders to doll clothes to quilts, we always did it like this she would iron and I would sew. It made it go so quickly! And more fun
I like crumb quilting and using your stash cause then I can use the spools of thread that are almost finished and same with the bobbins. Kind of tidy up time in my thread box too
MISTY and JENNY are so adorable together!! I LOVE Crum Quilting! And even more, I love these replays!! I have learned so many excellent sewing tips from Jenny just commenting on her years of quilting, and of course, the great questions from the live audience ! This is another brilliant idea generated by JENNY and the MISSOURI STAR QUILTING COMPANY family! (I WILL make my trip to you one day...!)
I am knitting hats for homeless people. I have 4 quilts going but I have chronic neck pain and just cannot sit at the sewing machine right now. So I sit in my easy chair and knit on a little loom. I think this would be a good time to learn to crochet. I am starting to get depressed and crazy! But, hey, I have lots of yarn, thank goodness! I also have an English paper piecing project started, so I can work on that as well. There is always something to do.
I missed this first time around. Really enjoyed it. I recently tossed a bunch of little scraps and now I wish I had them. I am totally going to be doing this. I also like the idea of starting out the day this way and setting a 25 minute timer. 💕
I just love crumb quilting! I used follow 15 minutes to play and every morning before work, I would allow myself 15 minutes to sew before work. These blocks add up very quikly. I like to make mine into star blocks. I call it mindless sewing because you don't have to think about it, just enjoy.
It was fun watching you two, Joan and Misty! Oh, I Do have scraps. Don't we all?? Several clear shoeboxes full of scraps, here. But I hesitate to do this with all of them, since I have just started back up with fusible applique, again. But, I will make some blocks, and pillows. I do need to put sashing between them though. My eyes need a break from all of the colors!! I think it would even be fun to applique on some.
I started a crumb quilt 2 days ago, doing the same exact method but 12.5inch squares (not finished) and I’ll quilt as you go using a different quilting stitch each square. I got my new ipink machine on Monday and my crafting mojo is at its peak right now. Hi from Australia 🇦🇺
Never done crumb quilting but oh my it looks like so much fun. I moved and got rid of most of my fabric, boohoo, so will eagerly start collecting again. Mahalo you guys.
I would sash it with black just to give my eyes a break from the busy. I love the crumb quilts but without the sashing, to me, it almost has a strobe light effect to it, which causes migraines, in me. Lovely job!
I love "partner sewing"!! saves so much time and is more fun!! Loved the tutorial. I've been watching all sorts of scrap tip videos and already cut my larger pieces into 2.5" strips and 5" squares but have been throwing away the smaller bits...... no more!!
I have SO many scrap pieces and knew about making strip blocks but this crumb method will better utilize all those odd pieces of different shapes and sizes. Thanks Jenny and Misty!
I have taken my crumb quilting pieces and made small coin boxes, mug rugs and other small projects for my grandkids…It uses my scraps up and they enjoy the different colors and prints in them….Thank you for the video….
I have to get started with type if sewing. I don't sew clothes any more, so this will now be my 15min of fame in the mornng. Your grandson is sooooo cute, he might just steal your job... i love your tutorials.
WOW! I've been thinking along these lines but didn't know if it were possible. Watching this, I thought it would be too much to put them together, thinking sashing between blocks, but when you laid them all down it was AMAZING! Thanks! Can't wait to try this. Linda in Bonham, TX
As with most quilters, I have multiple boxes of leftover pieces of all sizes (some even sorted by color) and was going to cut them into strips for string quilts. Now, rather than do that, I think that I will start making crumb blocks instead. The hardest part for me is how to combine the fabrics so that the finished block looks good; I'm not going to worry about that now and will just sew them together willy-nilly and see what I come up with. I think that black sashing would unite all the multi-colored blocks and make a really colorful quilt.
Awe darn it Jenny i miss this show can we have another one i love crumb quilting my favorite don’t have to be perfect lol from Newfoundland Canada i had a nap awe darn it
Slowly but surely, I am making a QAYG quilt for my husband, for our CALIFORNIA KING bed. He insisted on that size so it has been time consuming but a lot of fun! I am using scraps and sewing it on a foundation, log cabin style-sort of! And it has allowed me to practice making common block designs. Plus if they aren't perfect, they can be cut and used in another way, in another block.
How cool! I knew there had to be something that could be done with all those little bits! My mom would love this, but she already hoards fabric, so this could be baaaad!
Hi! Thanks for the video. I do this with leftover jelly roll strips. Just keep sewing them along. I like the idea of the 10” square up. Love your yellow rulers and templates. Can always find them!
I am a VFW fangirl. I have "15 Minutes of Play". One year I used my scraps to make mats for the cats at the vet's office and my aunt's house. I also use them for collage at preschool: triangles, rectangles and squares to make a "friendship quilt".
I made a mask out of a piece of fabric left over from a wedding sampler from 10 years ago, so we usually do remember where fabric comes from! I have lots of scraps, too, but I've been throwing the small pieces away. Going through the scrap bin to retrieve the bits i can still use for this!
Watching this after Waco and yes my sister and I were there. Thoroughly enjoyed it! In fact just back from Houston Quilt Festival and saw you there. You need to go home and Rest. Haha
I love crumb quilts. I have made many ... some 10 inch squares with half inch black sashing and others have been made into half square triangles and a variety of designs.
Jenny and Misty, you are like a breath of fresh air.
Blessings to you both! 😍
Love that Jenny remembered what quilt she made with that scrap. As a new quilter, right now I can tell you what I have made with each one of my scraps and it's nice to remember each gift I have made as I go through my scraps! Lovely memories!

I love watching Jenny n Misty do tutorials. I absolutely loved the Crumb Quilting. It's going to be my new routine. Thank you so much you guys!!
Love your relationship with your mother in law! What a blessing!!

I've been sewing crumbs for years and love the triangles, wedges and odd shapes. it makes the finished block more interesting.

It's great to see such a wonderful mother in law/daughter in law friendship.
I think it’s because they are both wonderful people
This is great and you two are so fun together. Jenny's philosophy on ironing is spot on!
I love making crumb quilts. It is so relaxing just sewing together pieces without having to match anything.
I always want to do something in my sewing room, every day, even if it is only 15 minutes. This is perfect. And, when you look at the finished quilt, you remember all the other quilts you created with these crumbs.
I love the lighthearted feel of this tutorial. I was just searching Crumb Quilts last night, so the timing on this is perfect. Thanks, ladies!

I have been making crumb blocks forever - so glad to see this tutorial and know I'm not alone. 10" blocks are a great idea. Thanks.
I love crumb sewing! I made crumb block curtains for my craft room. I love opening the door in the morning and seeing all those colors.

The two of you are so good together. So much fun to watch and it's nice to have Jake there too. I'm going to have to try crumb quilting.

Watching during coved. You two brighten my day. I'm excited to sew crumbs. Thank you for this video !
Thanks Jenny, I have just spent a couple of hours stitching odd bits together. I have smashed my scrap. Love it! Nicola from Poole UK
My mornings will never be the same, thanks for another interesting tutorial!

Just started crumb quilting last night, and I’m already addicted! 😄
Now I need more scraps!😩
Hi Jenny....love watching you. Thank you. From New Zealand.
West Virginia here!
You are very talented.
I would sash it with black just to give my eyes a break from the busy. I love the crumb quilts but without the sashing, to me, it almost has a strobe light effect to it, which causes migraines, in me. Lovely job!
As long as you pair it with a solid of any color it will be more restful for they eyes.
I love "partner sewing"!! saves so much time and is more fun!! Loved the tutorial. I've been watching all sorts of scrap tip videos and already cut my larger pieces into 2.5" strips and 5" squares but have been throwing away the smaller bits...... no more!!

Hahaha, Jenny is too funny! I remember all my quilts, but I have only been quilting for a year...

I have taken my crumb quilting pieces and made small coin boxes, mug rugs and other small projects for my grandkids…It uses my scraps up and they enjoy the different colors and prints in them….Thank you for the video….
I'm curious to know what a coin box is.
I have to get started with type if sewing. I don't sew clothes any more, so this will now be my 15min of fame in the mornng. Your grandson is sooooo cute, he might just steal your job... i love your tutorials.

I do that with scrapbook paper. I glue all the little pieces back together in 12x12 sheets. They are called Frankenpaper. ( I make books).

Thanks for fixing the sound! Sounds perfect!

Inspirational and very funny! Thank you from London, UK ps Ezra is a star x

Hi from New Zealand I love the scrap blocks 💞
I love crumb quilts. I have made many ... some 10 inch squares with half inch black sashing and others have been made into half square triangles and a variety of designs.
I love sewing without purpose. It’s just relaxing !
