What have you done to me? I am allll excited because I just started sewing and I have ends of material lying around. Now I have discovered a whole new hobby. I lovvvveee this. Thanks for the ideas!111🎉❤
I was watching a new person to crumb quilting the other day. It was lovely to hear her say your name and said your the queen of crumb quilting,, people should definitely watch your channel. I thought how nice that was.
I LOVE sewing ‘with’ you!!! I love your humour and how you talk so candidly!! I just stumbled upon your channel last night and I have it playing in the background while I’m quilting! Wishing you all the best!!
One of the best piecing/quilting videos I have seen, and I have seen them all! I have to keep watching it as I am a new and not very adventurous quilter, but I am making progress.
This is remarkably informative! I am a newer quilter, and need courage to do this. Also, Darlene did not assume too much knowledge on my p[art, which was welcome. Her detailed narrative really helped.
Darlene, I’ve been following you for sometime and I have to say I always enjoy your creative quilting. You say everything in easy to understand terms and you don’t get wrapped up in perfection! I’m the same way & have been making crumb & strip projects for years. It is very real addicting but very relaxing too. I just want you to know I think you’re the queen of crumb/strip quilts. I appreciate all you do. Stay well and I will be following you as always.🥰
Thank you for this tutorial. I am new to quilting but I am using the scraps left over from the baby quilts and wall hanging I made to make a crumb block and make some mug rugs.
I like how clearly you explain step-by-step what you are sewing and why, also bringing in alternate ways of getting similar results. Darlene, you should be "teaching" your quilting knowledge at schools!!
There I was, idly searching the You Tube for ideas on what to do with the MOUNDS of scraps and bits and bobs of fabric I have, and I found this. I'm not even a quilter, just a regular sewer, and now that mound of fabric bits is calling me. CALLING ME. I reckon there's a crumby jacket in my future. Thank you :)
Do you make a crumb block using a 5 sided center to begin? The first crumb block I made started with a 5 sided block and I like that pattern and have tried to steer friends to that video and have been unable to find it.
I have started many with 5 sides. I’m sure I have many examples but so many videos and I can’t take the time to try and find that. There’s a link in the description to my crumb quilt adventure. Send your friends to that.
One strategy I noticed that I really like is to make two similarly sized sets of strips and put them right sides together, then sew sets of two lines of stitching about a quarter inch apart, then leave a 2 inch gap and sew another set of 2 lines of stitching. Carefully cut between your pairs of lines, then cut in the middle of the wider gap. I set up 3 or 4 of these and chain sew.
I had fun watching this video. I kept thinking that it would be such a riot to get to sew with you!!! 😂 thanks so much for sharing these terrific ideas!
I just started my first crumb quilt for a wedding gift for my best friend 💝 I was using a combination of method 1 and 2 but now I've got 3 more to incorporate and really shake things up! Instant subscribe seeing the "Queen of crumb quilting" comment lol Where are you from, Darlene? I recognize the New England accent, but can't pinpoint a state 😂 hey from northern Maine 👋💝
I love watching these videos over and over ❤️ Love you Darlene…. I know that’s weird to say, but meh, you’re amazing! (My fave videos are still the mosaics tho!)
I started my first crumb blocks yesterday. Although I was happy with the process, I didn't like the result. I think, watching this, my mistake was using pieces that were too varied in size. I mixed big and small, I should have kept it to one or the other. I will try again with more of a strategy this time. Thanks.
There is no strategy for crumb blocks. Varied sizes are awesome! There are no such things as mistakes. And don’t judge on your very first block. You said you were happy with the process, so just keep doing it for the sake of the process. Doesn’t matter how they turn out because they are all perfect.
All my LQS sell scrap bags for under $10....i have a 50 gallon tote full of scraps, i keep the whites n beiges out for other projects. Off i go for mindless sewing today :)
I just don't understand the concept of cutting the scraps up smaller and smaller. It creates more seams and less actual inches of fabric exposed. Would have liked to see a finished block using this sew and cut technique. I try to keep my crumb cutting to a minimum

Yes, definitely the Crumb Queen. I can’t find my four inch squared off blocks I made 12 months ago. Guess I’ll have to make some more.

Yes Darlene, the addiction is real. This is the only kind of quilting I want to do. Thanks so much for teaching us!!
I love this! My daughter just asked me for a bed runner and she said color and style don't matter - so this is the perfect method! Thank you!

Enjoying the replay again, I'm about to begin my own crumb quilting 😊

BEST VIDEO EVER! I enjoyed watching this process and now I'm ready to spend some time at my machine.
Love it, I started my first crumb throw blanket, it's fun, plus when finished it's not all uniform and amazing

Assisti muitos vídeos seus, e fiz alguns projetos baseados em seus tutoriais. Você é fantástica. Gratidão
This really is addictive. 😂
Probably a dumb question, but what's the little scrap that you keep reusing?
I have a video explaining it here ua-cam.com/video/1F5Gp33aHgM/v-deo.html
I love 🎉 Tell me how to use the crumb😂
Good video
Wow!!!!
Method 6: Mix and use all 5 methods combined :-)
I never realized they had a name. Been making these for 40/50 years.

I have a gazillion finished blocks in my videos. You can crumb any way you want. No rules.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
