that footage of the western pack was actually running in unity, not unreal
Pro Tip: As he said these assets are redeemed on the Synty store... but what was not mentioned is that there is a time limit for redemption. DON'T BE LIKE ME AND WAIT A YEAR AFTER BUYING ONE OF THESE BUNDLES ONLY TO FIND THE REDEMPTION WINDOW TIMED OUT!
Aside from that, these are all great assets! 😅
when i click on redeem, and copy the code i still have to pay 10-50$ for the packs, wtf???
@@Punisher1992 Sorry, I'm not Synty tech help so I don't know what that issue is, but you might have to log in to the Synty site before you click redeem? Other than that just reach out to them.
@@joshwent its weird, on the shoppingcart i had 50$ to pay, but when i clicken check out, it was at 0... so just a bug it seems. But the next problem is that i have ue5, and the projects are all for ue4, so when i just copy the folders meshes have no assets like materials or skeleton, neither animations... do i really have to download ue4 to migrate?
@@Punisher1992 It's probably just an issue with the file structure, but I'm not an Unreal user so I can't help you there. Google or Synty help are your best bets.
Thanks for the heads up.
As someone who bought a bunch of Synty assets in a previous Humble Bundle, I wanted to point out that while you have a limited time to redeem your codes, once you do, if Synty ever updates the individual packages, they send you an e-mail link so you can download the current version. They also note what was fixed/changed.
Note that the $10 code allowed me to purchase the Polygon Mini City Pack, that is on sale for 9.99 for 0.00
Synty assets are great. Thank you Synty, and Humble for another great bundle, and Gamefromscratch for letting us know about it.
I think you made yourself immortal by doing that little Unreal Engine slip-up 😂❤
Loving the content, and following it religiously. Keep it up 🤩
This is a huge deal, great assets and a great discount. Even if you don't like the character models the rest of the lowpoly models are great. The SCI-FI City is especially great.
Agree it was super easy to set up, some of the tiles are prefect for wave function collaps and other generative projects. Just change the textures add a normal map, spawn foliage, particles, fog, good light, shaders, a bit of extra work and Boom all of a sudden its a higly detailed quality environment for any mid sized project.
3:15 - I was struggling with importing with textures to Godot just before this was uploaded.... I did the open in blender->modify->export route, and wow, this was way quicker. Thanks for covering these.
nice UNREAL ENGINE you got there lol
Sigh... yeah, caught that after I said it. I gotta have at least one brain fart per video, no?
I always buy the synty low poly packs.
They never dissapoint me. The stuff you get is always amazing.
Man, Unreal seems to have gotten a downgrade since the last time I used it. 😉
Times have been hard, you know. Everyone has to cut "Corners" eventually
@@37Jhianthe actual fuck are you guys talking about? Unreal has improved by leaps and bounds every single update. Although I'd like to hear your reasoning as to how it's been downgraded
@@jakedespppp I think they are talking about 0:48 where he says it is in Unreal but shows the western pack in Unity. If Unreal's lighting is really that similar to Unity's I would be worried haha
@@jakedesppppCompletely went over your head yeah?
@@jakedespppp Do you know what a joke is?
I just start learning game dev recently and i really want synty collection but don't have the money to buy it. What a coincidence!!! thanks for the info!!!
Great Find, always love getting the update on humble bundles....would be great if you could do a tutorial on working with the characters from synty. Have tried in the past and it was a pain. You explain things very clearly
Two major issues with assets packs and Godot is that adding collision shapes to multiple meshes isn't available currently (from what I've read and tested).
You can create a Trimesh Static Body for multiple meshes, but it is two dense and expensive. The other collisions types won't apply to multiple meshes.
For large asset packs such as these it makes it near impossible to go through each individual assets mesh on by one and place them easily.
The other issue currently in Godot is there is no mesh asset browser to place assets. You have to go through each mesh in the file browser and read the individual names of meshes in order to place them. You could be very organised and create many folders to hold your assets, but this still isn't ideal.
There is a built in 3D Gridmap in Godot, but each mesh has to be the same size.
An alternate plugin is available called 'Asset Placer', but this is $17.99 / £15. It is something that should really be included in Godot.
Maybe some other users have ideas how to get around these issues?
Did you ever find a way to add the collision shapes?
Hi Mike. Firstly, just want to say thanks for always making us aware when there are good gamedev related humble bundles to be found. Seeing that you have a voice in this industry can you please request that Humble update their user/member sections on their website? I've purchased numerous game and asset bundles from them over the years, trying to find specific purchased assets on their site is a nightmare. Thanks again.
Definitely jumped on this when I saw this on your discord server. 👌🤝
Damn! I'd not long purchased the Horror Mansion pack. Still a "no brainer" bundle. Shame I wasn't able to give that pack to someone else. Cheers for the heads up! (i used your link when purchasing)
There is a bundle on fanatical of low poly assets that maybe combined with this one will be very nice !
I like Synty's non-character stuff.
I think their polygon collection characters are still pretty good
That's just awesome! Brilliant!
Thanks, dude!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Very nice, it could be useful for prototyping games.
To make Filmic and ACES work better you need HDR lighting by increasing the max white value. Also increase the value of the directional light for the sun.
0:47 Where'd you get that Unity theme for Unreal?
+10 points for knowing the words "pew" and "pulpit" in this day and age :)
hehee "And this is what it looks like in Unreal engine" 0:45
Lol yeah, caught that while uploading and winced. My brain is an alphabet soup of game engines at this point.
heehe nice one:D@@gamefromscratch
I liked your Godot Theme. I built my own too
I love their models, have almost all of them
Thanks for the added how to
There are 3 separate keys, one for each tier, that must be added to your cart.
[Edit with info from Synty]
The Humble bundle and the BYOB sales are separate and cannot be combined, which is super confusing since they list it as a BYOB + Humble sale. From Synty : "You need to process these on separate orders. Discounts aren't stackable on the store and both the Humble Bundle and the build your own bundle discounts are done in the same way using a discount code on the store so they need to be placed in their own orders."
I did each tier as a purchase one by one. Not an ideal workflow but figured it was by far the safest route.
For me the BYOB discount worked, but the Humble bundle codes didn't reduce the price to zero. I also sent a message. Also first time I encountered a problem with them.
I got the same "problem" that it didn't show 0$ in your cart. You first had to go to the checkout and then it shows 0$ @@alberteinstein5421 Not very smooth in redeeming the codes but atleast it works
Also received a message: Worked for me now. They removed the default BYOB-discount which seems to have caused the trouble.
Yep, didn't realize that till fairly recently since it's not always clear one has to redeem all three tiers.
Saw your other videos where you said "just copy the fbx into the textures folder and it will work" and wondered why my models still were without textures. But then 7:30 of this video was very insightful. Not as comfortable as with just the demo scene.
I also didn't manage to find out how to get the butterfly particle effect from the meadow pack running (just as an example). So I might have to stick to Unity to use my Synty assets without spending all my limited time to find out how to setup everything from scratch. Although from what I read many Godot systems seem to be much more refined than Unity's, like UI and localization.
Dang, I already own 2 of the 18 packs, but I may have to pickup this bundle just because of the deal on sci-fi city
You are a life saver sir. I've been buying synty assets for use in godot, and fixing the textures one model at a time.
I think you just saved me months of work.
I have not done any game dev ever and I just bought all this for $25 and used the $10 off on the $75 biomes pack (nature/marsh/tropical) . Hope having pre done assets allows me to stay focused because at least it looks good.
@Gamefromscatch : Thanks, nabbed that little beauty and an little extra in there for you for the "Unity being Idiots" coverage.
The demo scenes seem to work, but having to still set up hundreds of individual assets so they got proper materials is such a hassle. Wonder why they don't properly import like the entire scene. Building an environment is really fun when done in Unity since everything snaps to a grid, if the individual assets were textured from the start in Godot I can imagine it would be just as nice.
Thanks!
No worries, and thank you in turn! Support appreciated.
id rather get redeemable keys tbh (unreal). project files like this would just get forgotten by me XD
bought via Mike's Link!
"Synty has a humble bu-"
LET ME STOP YOU THERE! I'M IN! *money gun*
This is fast. I just go the alert from discord.
aww man, the office pack would have been p e r f e c t for my project but of course that isnt in the bundle.
when i put my FBX and Textures in the same file only a few of the asset have textures on them. Im trying to do this with Simple Apocalypse
I CAN'T AFFORD ANY MORE SYNTY ASSETS, PLEASE STOOOOOOOPPPPPPP!
Looks like a bargain to me!
I would love if you showed off more of Flax engine! I think Godot is great, but I think Flax is probably the better choice for more complex 3D projects.
Have you tried import to blender, export as GLtf for Godot?
Can you show how to add the alternative textures in more detail please?
I tried it by adding a MeshInstance3D Node to the fbx and setting the material, but the model stays white :-(
But how do you add collision to these? I tried to use the demo world and there's no collision.
Completely a newbie here. But do the character models have animations too? Do you have some tutorials that can be used regarding this? Thanks!
Hey i have a doubt can I share my downloads which I have on my current laptop to another computer or something. I had bought the synty asset pack from humble
I bought this pack but it doesnt work when imported into godot :( The method showed from 3:22 doesnt work for Synty simple assets unfortunately. It maybe works for Synty Polygon assets. There is no textures and there are no animations for the characters / buildings
Starting Godot in the downloads folder and it doesn't even care...
Isn't simplicity sometimes refreshing?
I just bought the scifi-city pack in the unity assets store like a week ago SMH, is it possible to get a refund on the Unity asset store to get this bundle? 😓
Some of these I had on Unity's asset store too. Some of them I had on both Synty and Unity stores. Kind of annoying to check.
Hello Mike!
I would like to ask a favour. Would you be interested in making a Comprehensive Video series how to contribute to Godots Development?
We all have different skill's we can contribute to different aspects of the engine, I slowly figuring out where to start but its very new for me.
We need a guide and a trend to push Godots Development Iam fairly sure I am not alone wanting to figure out how to alocate extra time and resource to contribute, after the Tyre fire...
If godot not where we need it, Than lets make it!
If enough of us do it, the engine can spiral up pretty fast, lets start a trend to push dodot we can tottaly make our own engine together, its the spirit of Open source!
I slowly just understand the significance of that, it can be the Indie Dev Comunity's Collective Project.
We need Guidelines, an advertizing push from mulltiple content creators, and this ball will start rolling.
Will these work in Game Guru Max?
is that the new ue5.4
Only one thing is that there are no animations!
Dam already got this pack like 6 years ago. Only 1 new asset added . Prob not worth it
Could these be imported into Roblox?
Are the characters in the bundle fully rigged?
These days, you can drop them into mixamo and get them fully rigged/rerigged in seconds
@@generrosity I always thought I had to retarget them in unreal manually. Never thought of adding the fbx to mixamo itself. Thanks!
Unreal... is... unity!?
Remember that these are a single seat. Great if you're solo-dev though, or if you're just couple of people.
Unfortunately got all but 2 of these already :(
Ah yes the Comic Sans of game visuals
All game engines! Just dont use unity tho 😅
This is a judgement free zone. ;)
@@gamefromscratch The project in the "Unreal Engine" is called ByeUnity ;) LOL
@@gamefromscratch *cough *cough... yes Yes... of course... 😉
