Very helpful!!! The alcohol method works, I used 2 pieces of alcohol pads, wiped them around the dead button and dried it with a hairdryer.

On my iPad Air you can go to settings, general. Access ability, accessibility shortcut, assistive touch, triple click home button, touch device icon and you can turn up or down volume from there and it remains easily accessible from there and you don’t have to pull your iPad apart.

The basics of opening your iPad are similar, but the details are very different.
Seek out your specific iPad's battery replacement video. I found a couple pretty good ones here on youtube.
All the tools are super-cheap on ebay and often when you purchase the battery, for an extra buck or two, they'll throw in all the necessary tools.

Thank you for the comment, Jesus. Yes, you keep your same screen and digitizer. If you are careful, you can also re-use the thermal adhesive tape.

Took me about 5 minutes with the heat gun and pry tool to crack the screen. At least I tried to fix it. Apple, geek squad and batteries plus couldn’t do it.
Omg the tilt it side to side worked my volume kept going up

Is there any safe alternative to alcohol on the qtip?
Isopropyl alcohol and a Qtip is not only the safest option, but also the cheapest. I do not see a reason to experiment with anything else.

Or to save yourself the trouble why not just pull down the shore Cuts panel and then adjust the volume to your liking your exact liking no hate
My button is odd, it’s stuck but also not stuck. If I press anywhere on the button with one finger it won’t work BUT if I put pressure with 2 fingers on both sides of the button, it works

Sounds like either the underlying bracket or else the contact has slipped alignment with the button. As long as it's tolerable, I would not open up your iPad to fix it until it completely breaks down.
I dropped my iPad but the shut off button is jammed, the sound buttons aren’t but they still don’t work

Hi Irene. That's similar to what happened to this iPad Air 2 as well. The button sank inward and didn't have that nice, tactile recoil after pressing. It worked for several months after that before ultimately failing.
If you want my advise: keep using it the way it is, but purchase the inexpensive repair tools, because the day is coming when it will no longer function -- and at that time, you'll be prepared :) Have a great week!

If your volume slider still works at all, try double clicking on it- it works for me. . ( note to self, don’t bathe with your iPad)🤣🤣
I can’t push like..the whole button... it does work but my dad says a spring thingy or something moved out of its place..

No scratches or marks came with the charger and box fast speed, and if you are buying a pen get the 1st gen don’t make the mistake I did !!

That is often how it starts: the bracket slips out of position or the internal haptic buttons fail. 😪
