Our favorite is Tabayana Beach on the Isla of Roatan. Crystal clear water with great snorkeling from shore. It's where the jungle meets the beach. Good food and great drinks.

One of the best feelings is after you've boarded and set sail, go outside and sit down and take a nice deep breathe & let all of your stress and troubles go. I cant wait to go back.

Also, do not book a dinner anywhere the night you leave Skagway. The scenery at night leaving Skagway is phenomenal! We got stuck in a specialty restaurant and missed most of the scenery. We wished we would have eaten ar the buffet and sat outside.

Just got back yesterday from the Vista did Rotoan, Belize, Cozumel.. went to Xuananich Mayan ruins.. 2 hour bus ride but sooooo worth it! It was the most amazing excursion we have ever done! Climb to the top, you can see Guatemala from the top it was an incredible experience for sure. Couldn’t move very fast the next day due to my legs feeling like jello but would definitely do again!

We cruised Alaska in 2012. It was great and we would love to go again one day soon. We loved the train. I think it was Juneau where there was a saloon...Red Dog or something. We enjoyed hanging out there for a bit before heading back to the ship. It was kind of cool being in port at night. Tendering back to the ship with everything all lit up was neat.

I agree that Myan ruins in Belize is a lot of fun. The guide spoke all the way on the bus to the ruins about things we were seeing along the way. We also had a lunch included. She let us sleep all the way back.

i was happy to hear the dining question, i am cruising for the first time 3/2023. im wondering how long waits are for anytime if traveling during spring break. we picked early dining to be safe. i guess i will find out next year! and as a reminder to people 6pm is boat time not necessarily your time zone! so take that into consideration, as well as if it it daylight savings time. Confusing lol

We are going on Alaska cruise in May. We have booked the Excursion Best of Skagway. Has the train, bus tour, gold panning, salmon bake and tour and drinks at Red Onion Saloon. This is through a Royal Caribbean but look carefully because this had all that and wasn’t too much more expensive than just the train. We did a Black Friday sale with Royal and got it for $170 pp.

I think it was Sharon at sea that said they did the white pass train but they a tour bus up their and the train back. So they got two different perspectives. I think I will do that the next time. The only time I drive to a port is Alaska because I live in Portland Oregon and its 3 hours there. All my other cruises I have expense of flying but I love to fly’s that is fine.

In Ketchikan, we did a wilderness excursion that ended at George inlet lodge and all you can eat crab. It was amazing! It really was all you can eat. SO.MUCH.CRAB. Also loved white pass railway in Skagway more than I expected. We also did helicopter to a glacier in Skagway also. Amazing trip!

  • @SpeedNoodles
    @SpeedNoodles 6 років тому +1

I've been twice to Alaska and have a third cruise booked there on the RCL's Ovation in June. We have always done the "not-so-popular" tours up there. In Ketchikan, we went kayaking (where the salmon nearly jumped into our kayak) but we won't be there this year - Ovation does not stop in Ketchikan (I think it's too big?)
In Juneau we've done a bicycle tour that brought us up to Mendenhall Glacier, and then we cycled to the Alaskan Brewery for a tour beers! This year we will probably be going whale watching in Juneau, and I might take the tram to the top of the mountain.
I always have the toughest time deciding what to do in Skagway - it's really my favorite stop. My husband doesn't want to go on the train (steep drop offs, he's not crazy about heights) - in the past I've gone horseback riding in Skagway (so beautiful, I wanted to bring "my" horse home, and they were willing to sell him to me, but the cost was prohibitive - lol) and the last time we cycled down the Yukon Highway (they bring you up past the Canadian border in a van, and then you cycle downhill - I'd do that again!!). This year I think my husband is going to go salmon fishing - I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do. Maybe go pick out another horse! We're flying into Seattle 2 nights early because we LOVE Seattle so much.
My tip for Alaska is definitely get OUT and do excursions in every port, even if they aren't long. The cities are not very big, and, unless you really like to shop, there's not much to do in the cities. And the shops are pretty much the same from city to city. Skagway isn't big on retail, but you really need to step into the wilderness a bit as there's really not much in town at all (and yet, I find it charming to stroll through for some reason).

In Ketchikan we did the Totem Bight tour in the morning and explored the town in the afternoon. In Juneau our friends did helicopter and landed on a glacier and loved it! We rented a car and went out to Mendenhal Glacier and walked out to the falls. In Skagway we did the white pass RR on the luxury car, loved it!! Glacier Bay go out on the deck and hang close to the naturalist.
Alaska is really a place to do the excursions, expensive, but do it!
We loved having a balcony !!

we are cruising at the end of April on the Carnival Vista out of Galveston.... maybe ill see you at Mr Sanchos or maybe we will see you at the Havana Cabana area ;) ...but we are also thinking of checking out the Tulum ruins. We did Mr Sanchos last time and it was a good value for the price and I would definitely go there again for a all inclusive relax, eat, drink at the beach type of excursion. We have been to Chichen Itza ruins and Chacchoben ruins and both were great. Ive heard Tulum is very nice and has a pretty beach you can check out after checking out the ruins so it on the list of things I want to see. Chichen Itza (from Progresso I think it was) was awesome and our guide was full of info just make sure you have a good hat/sunscreen/upf shirts/neck cover so that you dont get burned. Chacchoben (from Costa Maya) was nice and Im definitely glad I went and we even had a little time after to get a massage and some drinks in port. Just from my research I think Chichen Itza is the best, Tulum might be second (esp bc of the nice beach to check out near by as a bonus) and then Chacchoben if I had to order. We checked these places out in the Fall so Im sure in the summertime its really hot and humid so just I might not choose them in the middle of the summer though due to the heat etc.

Skagway is the train ride. I've opted out of that for my Joy cruise Sept 14-21 2019. I want feet-on-the-ground for most of the time we are in port. I would suggest the bus tour: 1920's era buses for a good overall tour of the town. There is much to see in Skagway: check out the Alaska Fry Bread [we have that with out native tribes here in NW WA, where I am]. Jason, something for you to try, with your beer appetite :) is Spruce Tip Pale Ale from Skagway Brewery [can be found at the Red Onion Saloon, for one]. Apparently the early settlers/gold miners had scurvy, and the spruce tips [from probably the Sitka spruce trees] had enough of the ingredients to help ease that problem. I'm not going to miss the chance to try something so unique.....and it NOT exported!

"Dr cave beach "i agree 100%, when we went i went snorkeling and my wife and 2 of our friends stayed on the beach not only were they hounded by venders even while wading in the water they would come right out to where they were, they were also offered any kind of drug you can imagine , all that was in less than an hour while i was out.

My husband and I are going back to Alaska in May in celebration of our 40th Anniversary. We’re doing 9 days on land and then a 7 day cruise out of Whittier, ending in Vancouver. Absolutely can’t wait!! Skagway is where the White Pass Railway is...a must for Skagway!! We’ll definitely be doing that again, as well as the dog sledding and musher camp. Juneau, whale watching is awesome....doing that again, along with a salmon bake. Mendenhall Glacier is also awesome there! Ketchikan, has lots of shopping right at the port; we plan to do on our own this time. Last time we did the Lumber Jack Show and the Totem Pole park tour. Both were neat but once was enough.
Alaska is one of those places you must go see in person to get the true impact of its beauty! Pictures do it no justice! It will truly be a trip of a life time for you and the boys!!

Glacier Bay is the breathtaking. We drank at both the Red Onion Saloon after the train Skagway. Also the Red dog Saloon Juneau. In Juneau, we took the excursion, called something Safari, sounds crazy. A zodiak takes the group to view and photograph orca whales, Guided hike is very informative giving history of the glacier formations.

I'm just confused on one thing, the cruise is cashless but some say to take money to tip but also we can pre pay tip or they take it away at the end of the trip. Also others say that we can tip cash and claim the tip that it is automatically withdrawn at the end of the cruise. Help please 😳

I’ve been to Belize and the Mayan ruins were great there. Tikal in Guatemala is even better It’s the largest Mayan city that existed and has hundreds on temples in the rainforest. But yes is even further inland. Tikal is definitely not a cruise vacation as a result.

Love your videos. Will be on the Getaway 20 January in 2 weeks. If you haven't already you guys should try SCUBA. I've only started 2 years ago and wish I had done this when I was much younger.

First of all from one MoM to another (me x2) Ooorah! Regarding Alaska, make sure you rent a jeep in Skagway from Alaska Green Jeeps, and drive into the Yukon. You will not regret it, as the scenery is unbeatable! Also, regarding the license issue, PLEASE make sure you tell people that the temp license will not work for boarding, they must have the permanent one!

Stay at the San Loui resort. Walk the Strand and don't forget to go to Le King candy store. Very close to the Ships.

I saw on the video a question about Mayan Ruins. I haven’t been to all of them but I went to see them in Chichen Itza- a 3 hour bus trip from Cancun. It was AMAZING!!!! We climbed a huge temple & jumped over a cliff into a Sacred Blue Cenote-- that was the BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. Back in the Mayan days it’s where, when they needed it to rain they would sacrifice women & children there- they threw them over. It’s been said people have spiritual awakenings there-- it’s no joke! I felt something deep, strong & enlightening but had no clue why, I just thought being the waterfall was it but when I came home I looked it up & read about it. LeAnn Rhimes had a video about her experience. I have serious lung disease now so I could never jump off that cliff again but if you can - ANYWHERE in a Blue Cenote DO IT!!!!

have y'all tried Galveston parkncruise? It's right across the street of the ship. My husband drops me off at the ship with the bags and he takes the car to park. Its literally across the street. LOVE it. And its covered or uncovered as well.
