Guys, you missed a "big thing" just outside of Adelaide called the Big Rocking Horse in a town called Gumeracha. It's part of a wooden toy factory and they have a little wildlife park as well. Maybe next time! ❤
i am an American living in Adelaide, been in Australia for 11 years now I love it, Adelaide is amazing! I love the central markets! And i also do not do the tomato sauce on the pies...
I am an Aussie born and bred, and whilst I don’t dislike tomato sauce on pies or sausage rolls, I very much prefer Worcestershire sauce.👍

It's a shame you guys just missed Mad March you would've loved it, it's one of the reasons SA has the title of the Festival State. The whole city completely changes and particularly the Adelaide Fringe is the second largest Arts, Comedy and Culture festival in the world

As a Victorian, Adelaide is 110% the underrated State Capital of Australia, and regurarly beats out the bigger Capitals like Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane on Liveability Index Scores.
As a South Australian we thank you, and I've always loved Melbourne which I find most like London to be honest

Whoa! Just Whoa! Tia and Cheveyo are the best travel VBloggers ever. They did Adelaide proud. Their happy, informative narrative and videos covers all of the good things that they find. The fact that they are "foreigners" also helps because they mention things which we natives would just pass by on. I'm hanging on for the rest of this trip, fo' sure.
One of the biggest AFL rounds of the year is on ANZAC Day (25th April), you need to see the game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Huge day in Australian culture starting with a dawn service wherever you are in the country, followed by a huge veterans march in the city streets. The ANZAC round in Melbourne is between two rivals, Essendon and Collingwood, both old Melbourne suburb and the attendance is usually full stadium. Don't miss it its awesome.

I'm a Victorian but I love Adelaide. Adelaide is the right size, hot weather in summer, is an Australian Rules Football state and has beautiful beaches. Melbourne for a big Aussie Rules game.

Theres some lovely cafe's in Robe, and if you've got the chance the Naracoorte caves are only an hour away from Robe, if you want to learn a little bit more about Australia's ancient history and megafauna I highly recommend!
You guys are the best. Love how down to earth you are. Enjoy your travels. If you ever go back to Adelaide, venture out to the Barossa Valley & Hahndorf for the wineries and amazing food. So much to see around Adelaide a short drive away.

I don't eat meat pies with sauce. Pies are big in New Zealand 🇳🇿.
Putting tom sauce on a good pie is like putting it on a good steak, you want to enjoy the natural flavour of the food.

Agree, tomato sauce is only for plain pies of the mass manufactured variety (4'n'twenty, supermarket frozen etc) and for non-fancy sausage rolls (footy, servo, frozen etc). Most bakery pies don't fit this memo.
As a proud Adelaidian, you summed up our city beautifully. We are considered a backwater by Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. If you ever come back, you must see The Big Rocking Horse in the Adelaide Hills.Your pronounciation of Adelaide was pretty good. Thanks for visiting and showing our beautiful city to the world. But, I must address the elepphant in the room.. Not liking tomato sauce on your pie is a hanging offence!!!!! But you would love a pie floater. Only available in South Australia, it is a pie, turned upsidedown in a bowl and covered in pea soup, with sauce of your choice. We used to have pie carts all over the city that sold these from about 6p.m. Till dawn. After a night out, you headed to the pie cart.

I love going home to Adelaide. Sydney people tell me there is nothing there. I live in Sydney and would return home if I could. Don't change the friendly country feel... please don't. People would probably get offended if I said what I feel about Sydney. Lets just say, it's a great place if your a tourist.

Happy you liked our town. We do. I make pies for a living and I never put sauce on one. I wanna taste the pie. Not mask the flavour. Good work. Any footy game is good. Obviously try to watch one at the MCG in Melbourne. Or go to marvel stadium where they play under a roof most of the time.
We dont speak with long "vowels" here in Radelaide.. Thats a very Eastern States/Queensland thing.. As this was a "convict free" State for the first 10 years, settled by free people, we speak the "Queens English". I even get asked if Im from the UK when Im interstate.
We say "caar-sle" for "Castle" (with a long A), in the East they say "Ca-sle" for Castle (with a short A). First State to have a Library, and 2ND place in the WORLD to give women the vote.

So glad you enjoyed your time in Adelaide (I'm sure you heard it a few times from locals but we basically skip the e in the middle and pronounce it as Ad-laid)! We're also the only state to be freely-settled with no convict history and the first place in the world where women could run for election - so we have quite a few things to be proud of! We'll enjoy the calm life while the Eastern States fight over who's best ;)
Nothing wrong with coming from a convict state, but it is definitely a point of difference for South Australia.

Don't forget Don Dunstan, most famous for decriminalising homosexuality in South Australia in 1975, the first state in Australia to do so.

You definitely should have tried the PASTIES in South Australia. You might still be able to get some at a servo or bakery before leaving SA. A lot of Cornish people ( from Cornwall in England) emigrated to SA to work in the Copper Mines In and near Moonta. They brought their awesome Cornish Pasties with them. Villies and Balfours are 2 good SA bakeries who make delicious 'PASTIES'! They are usually available all over SA and also avaliable interstate in Coles or Woolies frozen food sections of supermarket.

I hope you thought about seeing the Northern Flinders Ranges, maybe Wilpena Pound. On the edge of the Outback, amazing ancient landscape. Also the German history in Hahndorf, and Mount Gambier. I’m a Sydneysider, but I love South Aussie and Adelaide.
I live in Adelaide and it's a great place to live, just like an oversized country town. The beef and mushroom pie and the spinach and feta pasty are two of my favourites. I am glad you enjoyed little old Adelaide. 😊 This was the first of your videos I have seen, it seems you missed the big Galah which is in Kimba which you can go through when crossing the Nullabor.

Mount Gambier is worth seeing the blue 💙 lake, caves, and Umpherston sunken gardens.

You want an AFL game? Any country town in Victoria on a Saturday afternoon, but the mecca for AFL is Melbourne. Find a game, pick a team and have a ball. You will be amazed at the size of the field, and the stamina of the players, AND the big scores.
So glad you enjoyed my lovely hometown it really is a great place to call home -apart from the city there is lots more to see such as the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale which are beautiful wine areas but with lots of food/produce markets and shops, Glenelg and the coastline and even my suburb of Hallett Cove which has an amazing conservation park right on the ocean with an amazing boardwalk alongside the cliff.
I have lived in Adelaide my whole life. It is beautiful and like a big country town. Very accessible. Great winery regions, beautiful beaches and great history. We are also the only Australian state that never had convicts sent here. We were a free state
Yeah, we were all taught that in school...however, the evidence shows that the Dutch had lived in central Australia 300 years before the soldiers (not convicts) arrived. Our old buildings and infrastructure confirm they were built with highly skilled workers, not convicts. Also, the canons face sea-ward...protecting the inhabitants from sea-faring attacks. Tartarian truthers bring some of this out. It's so interesting and opposite of what we were taught..but l agree, Adelaide is a beautiful town! My relo's were Johnstons, lol.

It's really not a big country town. From North to South it's over 100km in length and takes 2-3 hours' travel time. It also has a regional population of 1.6 million which while not Sydney or Melbourne isn't exactly a larger version of Tamworth.

According to PlanSA (@plan.sa.gov.au), regional South Australia's population between 2016 and 2021 rose a total of just 6197 to a total of only 394,983.
At that rate it's STILL below or very close to 400,000 even now... Or around just 25% of your unsupported guesstimate. Adelaide metropolitan area population in 2022 is even less than 1.6 million at just 1,356,000.
Furthermore, I've personally done the Gawler to Hackam West run along the North/South Corridor Freeway in just under 90 mins without breaking a speed limit the entire way... Your comment is grossly inaccurate.

I was troubled by the absence of tomato sauce on your pie in the Perth park. In fact, it was something that has been playing on my mind ever since. I assured myself that it was simply due to the fact that you hadn't worked out how to open the uniquely Australian "fold and squeeze" condiment packaging. It simply never occurred to me that someone would have a preference for meat pies without sauce! It's going to take me a long time to digest this information.
I will only eat homemade tomato sauce. I've seen how it's made in a factory, so I refuse to eat it. I rarely put sauce on a meat pie 🥧 and meat pies are big in New Zealand 🇳🇿.

Lots of Aussies buy takeaway meat pies without sauce. My wife never has sauce, but I do. To be effective, and make eating easier, the sauce should squirted into the pie.
Of course Adelaide is the home of the pie floater. This is an inverted pie, floating in a bowl of thick pea and ham soup..
I add tomato sauce into the pie before adding the soup, then lastly add a teaspoon or so of Worschestershire sauce on top, for a bit of extra bite.

As for which AFL game to see, someone below mentioned the ANZAC day game at the MCG if you are still in Melbourne by then... It's probably the second biggest game of the year after the grand final. Bravo! As an Australian, I'm super impressed with your "Adelaide" pronunciation. You nailed it! Getting the vowel sounds in the Aussie accent is what most foreigners struggle with, especially North Americans, because of your heavy rhotic accents. (The tongue placement is the secret.) You obviously have a very good ear. The real test is if you can string a whole sentence together!

Guys you missed the Giant Rocking Horse in Gumeracha, just 45 mins out of Adelaide!! Also Adelaide isn't so underrated as we made it to the top 10 most liveable cities in the world recently. I enjoyed your take on my home town through fresh eyes, thank you and safe travels!

I totally agree that Adelaide is underrated, but I may be a little biased as I was born & bred here! Your pronunciation of Adelaide while you were in the Market was perfect... great job! Our beaches are beautiful & we have the lovely Barossa Valley & Hahndorf & many other great spots near Adelaide. Yes, the Aussie big attractions are hilarious & were always on our travel itineraries when our kids were younger! I wonder how many of them you can find on your travels!! Came across this video, enjoyed it, and so went back and watched the Australian tour from the start. Well done. Great camera work, although I stress over setup/retrieval time for for the many shots of the two of you, car arriving/departing, etc.. One thing that makes your videos extra-special is the extensive but well-chosen and well-shot B-roll ... it is the views of road, roadside and countryside through car windows that really captures the essence of Australia. We moved here from the UK over 42 years ago and still marvel at the wildness and uniqueness.

Just found your videos, this one was great, thank you for sharing, the market baught back memories, my parents had a shop on grote street next to the market, before the market plaza and china town was built, and it was all a open car park, market used to open only on Monday Wednesday Friday and Saturday morning, my first paying job was in that market in a fruit stall next to Angelakis seafood

It's actually crazy how good Adelaide is. Very underrated and whilst a bit quieter than the other big cities, just wonderful. Mclaren Vale and Barossa, I mean.. it cant be beat!

Did you guys go to the Barossa Valley while in SA? Adelaide is surrounded by the world's best wine regions, the Barossa Valley the most famous of them. The Central Market is awesome, something for everyone. You were pronouncing Adelaide perfectly in the end. Pity I didn't spot this earlier I would have got Serafina, a local cycling tourism celebrity to show you around and put you on her TV show.
I am so glad you enjoyed our town. We love it. Unfortunately, you missed the great AFL rivalry between Adelaide and Port Adelaide at Adelaide oval on the weekend. But, if you are heading to Melbourne, for sure Anzac Day , Essendon and Collingwood, that is if you can score a ticket. Great series, and I love watching you guys. By the way, when you go to get in the wrong side of the car (10:20), then you know that you are not yet fully acclimatized to the country. Have you noticed yet that all lines of people are on what would seem to be the wrong side (driving on the left, crosses over into walking on the left side as well). Apparently there are only 7 cities in the world that are planned, and 2 of them are here in Australia ; (Adelaide planned by Colonel William Light, and Canberra by an American couple - Walter Burley Griffin and his wife Marion Mahony Griffin).

Hi Guys, I agree - Adelaide's Central Market is really good. IMO Adelaide is a bit underrated. I really hope that you have managed to get through the Great Ocean Road before Easter and the predicted bad weather that's headed our way. As for what AFL game to see, firstly seeing a game at the MCG is a must. Looking ahead there are three games at the 'G'. This Saturday's game between 'The Tigers' and 'The Bulldogs' or on the 24th of April 'The Dee's (Demon's) versus 'The Tigers' which would be my pick because there will be a larger crowd in attendance and for the atmosphere. There's an even bigger game the day after 'Anzac Day' but tickets might be hard to get. There's a game on the 10th of April between 'The Cats' and 'The Hawks' but both teams aren't playing well at the moment. I'm really enjoying your travels though southern Australia and the enthusiasm you have shown even for those cringe-worthy 'Big Things'. Cheveyo, your Aussie pronunciation of Adelaide is spot on. As an Adelaide resident and subscriber since your Australian series started, I was really looking forward to watching your visit to my home town. Glad to hear you enjoyed your time but I can’t help but think your two videos didn’t really get to show case our city and surrounding regions which are world famous.
Could I suggest you collaborate with some locals to help plan your itineraries to ensure you don’t miss out on visiting, experiencing & documenting the very best places in Australia.

I think it probably doesn't fit in your schedule, but one unique thing in Australia is the Royal Agricultural Show. If you liked the vibe of the markets you may enjoy these. They started as a "the country comes to the city" thing, but now they are a huge event in each city with animal competitions and events, craft competitions, fairgrounds, every kind of food and fun you can imagine, produce samples and the uniquely Australian "Showbags". Sydney's "Royal Easter Show" runs for the next 10 days. As I said, it's probably well outside your itinerary, but thought I'd mention it.

I partly grew up in UK but now live in Australia, meat pies originated there but brits do not have tomato sauce on pies so not everyone in OZ has sauce on their pies either, same as fish and chips but now for me fish and chips has to have tomato sauce more so than the traditional vinegar.
Pies and pasties were ordered at School in the mornings for lunch because schools didnt provide hot meals, everyone brought a packed lunch or had a pie or pastie. You need to try a Vanila slice, another great Aussie school tuck shop favourite years ago.

I've lived in Perth for 32 years, but I think you've seen more of Australia in the short time you've been here than I have. Thanks for showing Adelaide, one of the many places to which I have never been.
And you're not alone about not having tomato sauce on meat pies. I don't like that either.
Can I recommend looking up the silo art? You have already passed where it started, but there are still many great pieces for you to view on the trip. Also since you have already passed Optus stadium which is often voted the best oval in australia, I second Anzac Day at the MCG. Just be warned it is a fairly intense match with a lot of history behind it, so definitely tell everyone you are tourists so you get looked after. We are not like the Europeans who riot after games, but there can be a little bit of aggression in the crowd, but as I said, warn everyone you are tourists and you will be well looked after.
footy season is on right now so when youre in melbourne you could probably catch a game or two! big banana and big pineapple are up near QLD so definitely go up there and maybe even hervey bay! great video

You are correct about Adelaide being under the radar somewhat for many tourists. It has more to offer in the CBD and within an hour's drive of the city, than the other state capitals. Great to see you featuring the South East of South Australia ( including those road works just past Meningee and Larry in Kingston). I have lived in Millicent for 40 years, so I have driven that route that you took along the Coorong around 400 times (ten times in the past three months and again in a few days time). That drive that took you to Robe was walked by Chinese miners in the Gold Rush era in the 1850s. You will see their memorial on the seafront in Robe. If you can, go south of Robe a few kilometres to the fantastic beach in the national park. If you took a boat from there and went due west you would not reach land until South America, as the part of Australia that you are in is further south than the tip of Africa. Enjoy the rest of your trek to Melbourne and be sure to visit the Blue Lake in Mount Gambier.

From Kingston to Portland in Victoria is prime Southern Rock Lobster fishing grounds. Most exported to Asia as they're renowned for their quality. Make sure when you go to Mt Gambier to try the "O.K pie shop" on the main street. 💜🇦🇺
You initially pronounced Adelaide very well. Hope you enjoyed your time there it's a lovely city if not a little quiet on Sunday's.
