Glad that you said we don't take things too seriously here, that's spot on :) In regard to "Big Things" as you drove along the coast, you missed the Big Koala between Adelaide and Melbourne. Hahaha the map in the Big Marino showed what appeared to be HUNDREDS of big things. I had no idea the collection was so extensive. We found a guy online that wrote about his experience visiting all of them. I think it took him a couple years to hit all of them 😂
Nice vid’. I’ve been out of Oz for 17 years now so this was a nice reminder of “my” country. “Australians don’t take things too seriously;” I think that statement really captures the heart of true Aussies. Thanks for sharing😎

The Southern Highlands are stunning this time of year. Funny that you should call it Jurassic, because in 1994 they discovered a tree in a still secret location, somewhere in NSW, (Wollemi Pine) that was nick-named the "Jurassic Tree" because they thought it was a direct holdover from the Jurassic period.
Yup. Wollemi Pine was thought to have been extinct for more than 2 million years or so. And having lived during the Dinosaur period. Until, in 1994 that park rangers in the Blue Mountains discovered this rare group of trees standing next to each other in this isolated grove and couldn't place it what they were looking at. Finally, after all the Botanic Gardens and floristic research institutes in the world did their research, did the Wollemi Pine come out as what people have called: "the find of the century". Not to forget, it's been said that Steven Spielberg drew inspiration from his visits to Australia for making the setting of Jurassic Park the way it was. Likewise, James Cameron has said that his visit to the Daintree Rainforest inspired Pandora in his Avatar movie franchise.
Almost every thing you have showcased is something I have seen for myself, and coupled with Tia's enthusiasm, you guys make me (in equal proportions), both laugh and cry. Great video thanks. The big potato was ridiculed when it was built and I think up for sale atm.?? You might remember Robertson was also known the location for the movie 'Babe'
I was wondering about your route from Canberra when you started the "big thing" conversation. The first thing that came to mind was the "Big Turd" in Robertson, then here you are!
Genuinely might be our favorite episode ever. You both called your own "for scales" - but for very different reasons. 😂😂 And yes, that potato looked like 💩. Loved it!!
Lake George at 1:57 has been empty for years! only very recently maybe in the past year has it had any water, Im 30 and never remember seeing water in it
Lovely country you passed through. There used to be a great mountain bike trail that started in Fitzroy Falls, went down the Western side, dropped into the valley and finished in Kangaroo Valley township. Not sure if it's still open but worthy. Apart from the big t__d, Robertson is a beautiful little town. Great vid and infectious enthusiasm! Cheers from Sydney - Dave
I’m just meeting you two for the first time. I glad you’re enjoying my adopted homeland ( I came to Sydney from New Zealand in 1981) and I’m thrilled that you’ve grasped the idea that we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
Hahaha, The Diplomat, that's an old Hotel, glad they put on good food, so they should. The Big Ram, you missed the best photo opportunity, should have gone around the back of him, he's intact, lol. Great footage of the Falls. Dolmades are my hubbys and my favs, goes great with a bottle of sav blac or a merlot. can also buy the tins in Woolies. Only about 30 years ago there was the Big Pavlova in Murulan near Goulburn, but it's not there any longer, I think. Oh the big spud, right...... The Southern Highlands is very pretty and down to the Illawara. Nic footage, glad you're having fun.
Canberra has a lot of hotels that cater to the FIFO workers from Parliament House. When Parliament is sitting, most hotels are fully booked and what are available are very expensive. When Parliament is not sitting, they have a lot of vacancies, and are discounted accordingly. So when you want to visit Canberra, check if parliament is sitting first. And the Seacliff Bridge (15:15) was built after the old road, that was cut into the cliffs next to it, was closed. It is a loverly viewing platform to see whales on their annual migration.
You guys are great. I love your infectious enthusiasm. I live in Canberra (although I'm not a native) and I completely lost it at both of your reactions to the Big Potato. It is ludicrous isn't it. But absolutely hilarious at the same time. "Are there fries?"...Very funny. Don't forget the Giant Prawn in Ballina.
That winding road you were on, was it Kangaroo Pass? If so I learnt to drive on that road and around the Robertson / Southern Highlands in exactly those weather conditions ( in 1978). Having major nostalgia right now. ☺️❤️
Your videos are awesome. They make me fall in love with my country all over again. Well done. You seriously need to visit Tasmania ( Tassie as we Aussie’s call it) . Im a Melbourne boy but I went to Tassie a month back and it’s absolutely beautiful.
I know someone who wrote a university (college) thesis on Australia's big things - she even did a road trip with her future in-laws to see a bunch of them 🤣
Hooray 👏 you went to the Big Merino…….. I didn’t know you could go up in it? 😃 the big potato is near to where I currently live, but I’m in the process of moving to Ballina where the Big prawn 🦐 is And it has a new paint job ready for you to see 👍 safe travels 💜
I have to say it's pretty surreal seeing you guys on the Sea Cliff Bridge!!! It's right near where I grew up!!! That mountain road you drove called Macquarie Pass is one of the worst roads in the area, well done!
Once you get into Sydney it's best if you try and use public transport as much as possible - the train network in Sydney is fantastic and very cheap; but driving is quite expensive since there are toll roads everywhere and you often need to pay multiple tolls to get around - they aren't easy to avoid without adding an hour to your drive. If you have Apple Pay or a credit card that supports contactless payment you can actually just tap with that rather than buy an opal pass.
1:59 - Lake George actually with water in it! It was dry for years. 9:47 - Big Potato in Robertson! 😀You used to be able to go in, but there was nothing there - they didn't bother to even put in some kind of display about the local potato industry. The 1995 movie Babe was filmed in and around Robertson. (But if you'd gone to Barellan in the Riverina region of south-west NSW you could have seen the Big Tennis Racket, honouring local girl Evonne Goolagong Cawley.🎾) 13:49 - It's the Southern Highlands region - 500-900 m (1600-3000ft) above sea level and known for its temperate climate. (It's winter right now.)
when you get to newcastle nsw head north turn onto the bucketts way to gloucester go up thunderbolts highway (stop at thunderbolts lookout) to walcha and turn onto the oxley highway and you'll find apsley falls and tia falls keep heading towards the coast stop at gingers cafe for a burger then keep going and turn off to ellenborough falls the largest waterfall in new south wales.
I’ve got to say this was one of the most enjoyable You Tube videos I’ve seen, your chemistry together is perfect! Please please please ensure you go to the Great Barrier Reef, Heron Island is expensive but you can snorkel off the beach in the reef, stunning bommies and reef drop off’s
So I saw you go down the pass from Robertson which means you went through my home town to get on the road to Sydney! I was happy to see Tia didn't skimp on the big potato too!
Tia, you have embraced Australia's cheesey love of "big" things and we in turn embrace you! I grew up in Wollongong (which is where you kind of passed through when you stopped at Sea Cliff Brige) and no visit to Canberra or the Southern Highlands would be complete without stopping at or deliberately passing the Big Merino. If you'd passed by Lake Eucumbene and Adaminaby on the Snowy Mountains Highway, you might have seen The Big Trout! When I saw the title of the video, I genuinely expected to see footage of you two freaking out at a Huntsman spider dropping into your lap from under the visor in the car.

Yeah, Tia's Excitement .... just brilliant ... I think she must be part Aussie with that humor definitely.
And yes, that potato looked like 💩.
Loved it!!
Best video so far. I was in stitches. More "big things" please!
You guys make me literally Laugh Out Loud. The Big Potato was freaking HILARIOUS!😄
So lovely and funny too. I found you from the Canberra video. I love how you captured the misty mountains. Cheers from Australia ❤
Just discovered you on UA-cam, watched your Canberra to Sydney leg, thoroughly enjoyed your perspective. Subscribed immediately, ready for more.
Very proud Aussie to see your experience and show casing Australia through your eyes. Love you work!
Probably my fave OPW vid to date ..for several reasons. Thanks for taking us all on a memorable trip.
You guys are the funniest tourists in Australia! 😃👍👍👍
Love Tia's energy ❤ thank you , Canberra has a lot hidden gems.
I know someone who wrote a university (college) thesis on Australia's big things - she even did a road trip with her future in-laws to see a bunch of them 🤣
Good on you two, you’re seeing our country the right way.
Loved Tia’s reaction at Big things!
…actually, both of your reactions are spot on. 😄
That mountain road you drove called Macquarie Pass is one of the worst roads in the area, well done!
this video is wild. the contrasting reactions are utter gold. so pleased you’re seeing the australia i have seen. ❤
Love the video. Love the sense of humour. Enjoy Sydney.
Yay! Wollongong represent. I live right by the sea Cliff bridge. So glad you made it to our pretty part of the world. Shame it was rainy.
This is officially our fav vlog you’ve ever made! Can’t stop laughing!!!
(But if you'd gone to Barellan in the Riverina region of south-west NSW you could have seen the Big Tennis Racket, honouring local girl Evonne Goolagong Cawley.🎾)
13:49 - It's the Southern Highlands region - 500-900 m (1600-3000ft) above sea level and known for its temperate climate. (It's winter right now.)
Lake George with water in it - well done!
Also FYI, the Big Merino used to be further down the road - it was moved.
Robertson is the area where the film “Babe” was shot.
Dang you guys are the best! Loved this episode and I now appoint you as 'honorary Australians'!
when you get to newcastle nsw head north turn onto the bucketts way to gloucester go up thunderbolts highway (stop at thunderbolts lookout) to walcha and turn onto the oxley highway and you'll find apsley falls and tia falls keep heading towards the coast stop at gingers cafe for a burger then keep going and turn off to ellenborough falls the largest waterfall in new south wales.
Definitely the funniest episode yet. 😂 The big turd just cracked me up 🤣
Absolutely love this episode. TIA you are awesome and crack me up ❤
12:21 All motorbikers know Robertson, as it's at the top of Macquarie Pass. There's a pie shop there at the top too.
Just found your channel and it’s crazy seeing you go past my home (Wollongong) hope yous continue to enjoy Australia!!
LMFAO LOL Tia you got him good I was like you laughing so hard got him a beauty WELL PLAYED !!!!!
Love Tia’s excitement for the Big Things
