Bad substitutions. Enzo was bad and should have been taken off; shift Nkunku to the middle and Neto on the left. The manager also took off Lavia who was the best among the 3. 🤦🏾♂️

The problem with abandoning the system is that a close 2-0 could easily become a scandalous 4-1.
Last season, when Enzo was injured, the team.started playing well, we saw more from Caicedo. Enzo is holding that midfield back, he doesnt offer much gping forward, he doesnt press properly and he is easily dribbled past. A midfield of Lavia and Ugochukwu with caicedo would be better for the team.
I guess Enzo hadn't been fit in the game but I guess with thorough instructions he'll improved
Ugochukwu is on loan at Southampton. With Gallagher leaving, the optimal midfield is Lavia, Caicedo and KDH
It's funny how it was Potter that got the best out of him.

The midfield should be rotation 2 from 3 of Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia. With palmer/nkunku in the 10 role. Maresca needs to be ruthless dropping player with bad form. Even with their big price tag.
Anyone who actually expected us to go out there and give Man City a run for their money was kidding themselves. They are the benchmark that every team strives to match and overtake. If it was easy to beat them, they wouldn’t have won 4 titles in a row. These next 5 games against teams that are weaker on paper is the real barometer to determine if things are changing for the better at Chelsea, not this one

I accept that today wasn’t perfect, but we weren’t bad. I thought Enzo should’ve come off, or been dropped deeper so that Nkunku could’ve played more central, as I understand that Lavia missed a whole season and his minutes should be monitored. I was also disappointed to not see Madueke. However, the doom and gloom I’m seeing is ridiculous, we didn’t play Fulham. This was City we played against. The reaction from some has been embarrassing.
On top of that, we had fans in the stadium booing our players for recycling the ball. Is this what we’re in for this season? Fans turning on the players before the season kicks off? Where’s the support? Idk man, our fan base is too toxic, it’s annoying. It’s like people were hoping we’d lose this game so they can be critical. I’d support this team with my full chest if we were in the damn Championship for goodness sake! I can’t understand how people can only get behind the team when we’re wining. I want to win, but I understand the situation we’re in. Support our team until we are back to where we were meant to be!

Of course we support the team but they also need to actually have a go. Man City were there for the taking just like they were 3 times last season. Just slowly passing it around at the back does nothing. We looked so much better when quickly passing in and out of the midfield and between the lines

There was nothing he could have done for either of those goals today and, yes, he made a bad pass to Palmer that got intercepted, but he also came through with at least three important saves to keep the game from becoming a blowout. Maresca said he had a plan for Enzo when applying for the Chelsea manager job, and it seems to have been one of the reasons for him getting the job.
Blueco wants to see their money being used. If one of their most expensive signings is playing, you don't take them off. Even if in a footballing sense it should make sense.
Niinii, I 100% agree with everything you are saying. I believe every CFC fan including the players are all frustrated. This is our first game of the season and we faced the champions and the best team. As you said we are going to be ready for City in our return game. We needed those two because they can drive into the opposition box. I thought as much whom can we sub at that time but I was looking forward to whom to get in but I expected a Madueke-Sterling in the game matters. After Nkunku sub, Jackson should go not Lavia cos he's not instrumental by losing chances and so slow to take a shot and easy for Akanji to clamp him off ball. Then, comes in Neto to play up course to pressure Àkànjí coming to the midfield to clamp down Enzo. Neto did well but he's doubled clamped by Rico and Bernardo.
Maresca didn't make a visible mistake with Sub but the much better error shows when Taylor denied us two penalties.
Enzo be the only person to drop some racism and get a promotion. Entertainment business is untouchable

Today there was more promise compared to last season, cucu showed his class, lavia showed his class, the team played well but clearly today was more of a system to stop city's game compared to playing our best game, colwill and fofana looked clumsy, but definitely a good game though and definitely excited for this season now
I AM WORRIED FOR THE 2 ENZOs, the MARESCA and the FERNANDEZ. Happy Lavia is solid, Cucu is good. Some men will not realise , that enzo fernandez has an effect on this entire team, alot of players are being played out of postions, because of him, a player was sold becuase of him, also if players were to play in his postion, they would be a succesor to him overall.

Sadly to be expected. Team not ready to compete againat the best. Gallagher, Chalobah, Broja on ice. No Disasi, Sterling, Madueke, Petrovic, Chukwuemeka on the trade blocks. All key contributors to last season's resurgence. But that's in the past.
Difficulties playing out the back. Struggled with their wing play. Defensive match-ups were comical at times. Palmer had no outlets down the right, missing his usual partner Madueke. Nkunku had little service or influence. Old demons: touch, finish, offsides, physicality, shooting.
Our wingers were dominated. Would have like to see Neto and Madueke together, Nkunku was anonymous. Midfield is an issue again, no control there Looked like a team of nine week’s against a team of nine years. As for Sanchez……😏
I've been skeptical since màresca decided to dump chalobah, our best cb last season, as well as play sanchez over petrovic. It's more amusing for 3 transfer seasons now, chelsea can't get an all-out striker. We are wasting our time trying out all types of unorthodox positions/players rather than doing the needful.
Enzo pace is below average, how do you play him 90. Mudryk has power and pace, no single minute, lavia was stable, why sub him. Jackson's presence is always there why replace him. Enzo looked lost, Palmer's energies exhausted . Who is Guiu by the way....new in premier league, did he deserve this game at all.....

Enzo Fernandez doesn't fit this system ! He can't control properly, can't shoot, and he's not good defensively. Out of the midfield 3, only lavia can probably come up with goals. We’re weaker when accommodating Enzo. It was the same last season. What he offers in attack doesn’t outweigh what he lacks in every other category. Quality through balls mean nothing without a reliable striker to finish them. We also have to play Palmer and Nkunku out of position. The sunk cost fallacy is the only thing saving him. The price tag makes him undroppable but we really should bench him and consider cutting our losses.

Maresca squad gave me vibe and shows we'll make top 4. We'll demolish teams as we played. We've a slight error which i trust Maresca will correct, rewatched the match and i never regretted to the squad. We'd glimpses and Anthony Taylor denied us, took fouls against us. Any touches on Man City men, he blew the whistle.
All the squad were excellent. We played the defending champions and that's a class. We'd narrow errors but it's a big and proud game to witness and experience. We're coming great. The vibes is great and promising. I tust the team and squad. But am not convinced with Sanchez at all. We're decent and a threat to test Pep tactically and practically. We'll see how well we progress against Wolves.

• Håland wasn't trembling but Cucurella put in a shift, that's our best backline so far.
• The 1st half midfield is our best too. Lavia was brilliant.
• We still need a no.1 striker (#9🇳🇬) new season, same frustrations
• Wanna see more Jørgensen going forward. The 2nd goal was disappointing.
• At least 2 of the 4 subs made us weaker. Need strength in depth
• Maresca is a good coach & we'll play well but he's the man before the man.

Enzo is not in the “right areas”. Whenever he shoots to those areas he leaves gaps in the middle. He was playing ahead of the forward on several occasions.
