      @@nairblooc If you want, as you say, letter of the law, technically, when Pedro booted it away, the whistle hadn't gone. Everyone always says, "Play until the whistle" just in case, and even though it's obvious what he was doing, until the whistle goes, the ball isn't officially out of play. Therefore, by the strictest letter of the law, it's not a bookable offence in the same way that Rice's was.

    Football is not black and white. Discretion forms a major component of referring why consistency can never be achieved. Declan Rice created a situation for Kavanagh to exercise his discretion which didn’t go DR way. DR nudged the ball; basically cheated by faking an injury; and delayed the restart of the game. Footballers and football fans want to be able to restart and counter attack quickly, as they should be entitled to as they have just been fouled and illegally impeded. So, the rule about kicking the ball away is popular and EVERYONE wants that rule enforced. Declan doesn’t “touch” the ball. He kicks it away a few meters. In order to restart the opponent has to run to get the ball. Replace it to the correct position, and take a run up. The counter attack was knowingly foiled by Rice. The yellow was obviously deserved. DON’T KICK THE BALL AWAY after your team has just fouled.

    3 seasons ago it was Liverpool being robbed of decisions, 2 seasons ago it was Arsenal, last season it was both cause they both challenged City. Already this season it’s happening again. No team has any chance of challenging City if the premier league refs have anything to do with it. And it’s always by a few points they win the league. Great team but they don’t need the extra help

    Arsenal fan here. By the letter of the law yes it’s a second yellow. Think the issue is around consistency across the league, let alone just in the game e.g. jao pedro not getting booked 🤷‍♂️ also then there should be bookings for when players pick up the ball, resets into position and throws the ball back to the other team to take the free kick

    • @TP-pq9xx
      @TP-pq9xx 6 днів тому

      The issue is (not just Arsenal supporters) every football supporter feels aggrieved about reffing inconsistency when it harms their club but no football supporter has ever been angry about reffing inconsistency that benefits their club. It just has never happened. So that means it's not actually about the inconsistency.
      Football fans are the most inconsistent bunch out there and feel no shame in asking for refs to be perfect omnipotent beings.

    Are we gonna see indirect free kicks every time a keeper holds a ball for longer than 6 seconds ? Or will we see yellow cards when a throw-in isn't taken from exactly the same spot where the ball went out ? Cause those are also the laws of the game. The bottom point is football is supposed to be ENTERTAINMENT and decisions like this kill entertainment. They only create anger, division and confusion among football fans.

    the law is not wrong its the way its applied that is wrong. 1st of all premier league need to compeltely remove any possibility of fast restarts as its the original basis behind why players like declan rice or jao pedro go aout of their way to block or slow the restart. 2. referees need to remove al notion of common sense from the game and stick to the law no matter the case that means every single player that wasted time by kicking the ball or holding the ball need to be given a yellow card. this bring its back to the 1st point the only reason they are blocking it is becuase they are tryuing to prevent a fast start

    If we now apply the exact same consistency and allow all players like veltman to take advantage or say book players for brushing aside a ball even if they aren’t really holding anything up, it’s just the T &Cs saying so, then I want it upheld and fully expecting bookings every match. Or they could just use common sense which is something seemingly impossible. I’m a huge simon fan but he’s got it in for rice. The arguments he has for the sending off and the fact he didn’t celebrate his goal against ireland, although well argued, are total rubbish. At least he backs the courage of his convictions though

    What happened to Football where players at the beginning of game feel out the ref on how he plans to blow the game? Some refs allow physical plays and so players adjust to it. This ref allowed another player to kick ball away in the first half. If going by law then a foul in the first minute should not be different from a foul in the 90th min. but we all know that's not the case. That's why common sense should have prevailed.

    Watch a game, every player is constantly cheating. The rules aren't the problem, it's the deterrents. Punishment needs to be changed. Yellows and reds do not reflect the crime in any way so we must create a new system to punish petty fouls with small punishments and dangerous play with expulsion. I think a 5 and 10 minute sin bin is the best option. It will change the game! You will have Ice Hockey style powerplays. Maybe a team with a 2-0 lead won't waste time so much and cheat if the risk is going down to 10 men to defend.
