Prometheus and this arey favorite in the series. I dragged my boyfriend to the theater to see Prometheus. I loved the movie. A couple walked past me saying "wow that was the stupidest movie i ever seen" lol so opinions vary.
It's not an opinion to understand that the characters in both Prometheus and especially in Covenant act stupid just to further the plot. That's factual. You may enjoy that but that shows you lack the necessary critical thinking skills to understand what makes a story good or not. Prometheus has some good themes. So does Covenant. Both movies also have some of the stupidest mofos in all of movie history.
@@blinkachu5275 Ain't no critical thinking necessary. Entertainment is subjective. You can both like a movie and it can be the stupidest movie you've ever seen. Neither is a measure of "quality." Characters don't have to ACT stupid to further the plot. They ARE stupid. That IS the plot. Humans are stupid = plot. That was the plot of the first Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien 4, Prometheus, Covenant, and even Romulus. It's the central pivot of the entire franchise.
Most people said Prometheus had the dumbest scientists in a movie ever when the movie came out and then Alien: Covenant has even dumber characters. Putting these above Alien and Aliens is certainly a hot take.
These films are too deep and contemplative for many people out there. And their opinions are usually fueled by varying degrees of anger. For many of those people, they prefer teen slasher films with plenty of hormonal based behavior and a few breasts.
@blinkachu5275 Charlese Therons character used all the brains in prometheus in that one moment she torched the guy who was infected instead of letting him on board. That one reasonable action stole the IQ from the rest of the movie
You may say what you want to say about Covenant, but Michael Fassbender makes these films great with David’s god complex. Ridley Scott needs to make a third of this trilogy, but not beat around the bush when it comes down to the complex lore of this universe.
3:53 - "Bring me this tea...David". One of the greatest lines in recent films, its crazy the amount of subtext and intent there is behind that one single line. I wish more films could pull off dialogue like this, its a fucking shame we get this kinda stuff rarely nowadays. It also kind of ticks me off that a lot of people miss this line and dont' realize what its trying to convey lol
Loving these TARON reactions, honestly you guys are such a great duo, great chemistry. After all the Alien franchise and Predator franchise stuff, hope you guys stick together and react to a bunch of horror stuff, cause Tara's blood pressure is just not high enough (kidding, love you Tara, you're great and make these reactions so great!)
I'm starting to realize you guys pay virtually zero attention to dialogue. A character will mention something and then you guys question it as if they didn't just effing tell you not five minutes before.
This is like every one of their videos, every reactor on this channel besides maybe greg do it and my head canon is that they know they’re doing it and are just trying to get people commenting because theres no way they can all be so oblivious and dense Andrew might be the worst one, will literally shout out something so unrelated to the movie and miss dialogue or a plot device and then question/review negatively because he doesn’t know how to just watch the damn movie
@@ChrisTheAspergerGuy nope, Aaron is bad but Andrew is worse The Ghostbusters Frozen Empire reaction has like 4-5 examples of what I exactly described, it was Andrew shouting out pointless “trivia” unrelated to the movie and him missing entire plot beats and then at the end when they reviewed it he gave them negative feedback because he couldn’t just take a minute and watch the damn movie
The Walter/David misdirect is actually pretty weak when you realize they show Walter healing himself so you'd see David doesn't. It's so annoying that same thing got me the first couple times I saw it because I thought maybe he could just do that to his neck but eventually he even did that to his arm nub it's so completely obvious now on my 5th go around.
Check out the original screen play it a million times better and it fleshes out David’s story also the accompanying book ‘David’s Drawings’ is a must read.
The book ending though... The reader doesn't know if Daniels figured it out since there was no cabin by the lake mistake. There was only "I'll love you just the same" that you have to remember he said after he kissed her. He even wonders if she figured it out.
As soon as David cut his hair I said "He's going to switch places with the other android" and then the fight ended and "Walter" showed up I knew it was him, even with the scare David had no reason to give himself (unless it is a body switch)
I love it too. The theming, foreshadowing, music choice, and storytelling are all excellent. There are some minor details that don’t make as much sense (like the scientists not doing enough analysis before breathing open air on an unknown planet), but they’re forgivable for the most part. The film is gorgeous. And the ending was genius too
Alien - a blue collar, working class, slasher film. 70s inflation, rising gas, an every persons decade of doing what you must for cash, despite the consequences. Aliens - a Reagan esque, military heavy romp where no matter the weapons, hubris is how you fall. Alien 3 - a grungy, dirty, Gen X slog, that shows that the dirtiest of them all, despite their issues, will stand up for whats right. (I think 4 doesn't move anything forward, so I'm skipping.) Prometheus - A "hope and change" Obama era film that ponders the innate need for us to trust where we're going and what we're made of and the hope that who created us has the empathy that we know we're capable of. We overestimate our own sociopathic programming. Alien Convenant: A late 2010s Trump era, sobering dose of reality, that when we take a risk on a "what if?" or "we should try!" only returns horrific results. The "hope and change" of our search turns out to have incredibly disgusting results in our trusting of the uncertainty.
Every reactor leaves everyone to die when watching these movies. There is never an urge to try to save anyone. None of this means that I will stop watching.
Did you want to them to sit quietly as if they were in movie theater and to not disturb people? That’ll be a boring ass reaction and no one would watch these 😂
I don't care what anyone says, i love this movie. I recognize some of its flaws. But i also think the hate is over exaggerated and comes from place of bias and unrealistic expectations. The movie is not perfect but its not as bad as some people make it seem. Wish they'd finish this part of the Alien saga
@simplebull210 - It gave birth to the Walter/Daniels ship - therefore it is not pointless! @Harley-chan69 - If you have read the book: "I'll love you anyways" is a better ending.
all the complaints about these films could be said about the original, touching things they shouldn't, stupid crew blah blah.. this film is the perfect blend of the mysteries of Prometheus and the classic Alien tropes. Best one right here 😎
The Problem with this Movie as well as Prometheus is the Need to EXPLAIN something that didn't Need and explanation. This is the same as Lucas creating Midichlorians to Explain The Force in Star Wars. Its all a RETCON and people Hate Retcons.
I think it's a valid complaint with Prometheus. The crew in that movie are supposed to be the best of the best because of how important the mission is to Weyland, you'd think a bunch of highly educated field scientists would be more careful around potential biohazards on an alien planet and clearly hostile mutated fauna. Compare that to the crew of blue collar space truckers in the original Alien and it makes a lot more sense in that film's context. At least in Covenant it's the less educated members of the crew who initially are infected and completely by accident, which is way more believable. I still find it a bit odd that in both this and Prometheus they would enter and explore an alien biome with no respirators or helmets even if the air is breathable. I feel like that's the first thing I would be concerned about in that situation. Like you have no idea what could possibly be in the air even if there's enough oxygen to breathe.
Here are some movie suggestions just because I can... The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise (If any of the Rejects haven't seen it.) The Invisible Man (2020) The John Wick franchise Critters (1986) It (the original mini series and the 2 modern movies.) The Harry Potter franchise The Jurassic Park franchise Super 8 (2011)
they shot scenes with the crew together on ship and showed there relationships and shot the scenes between shaw and david on the ship and what happend to her but cut it all out in the final film , you can see both on youtube , it would have improved the film
I've been watching all of theses like right before your videos have been coming out, so I've been enjoying them even more. This definitely made Prometheus more interesting in hindsight. I had completely forgotten it when I watched a second time and felt like it was forgettable this second time around too...
Great video. I love your unique ways to name creatures and characters. It's so adorable. My mother does that aswell. I can't even spell the name she gave Lui Kang from Mortal Kombat.
Actually David only recreated the aliens. In Prometheus you can see a painting of an alien queen in the background of the room where they find the pods, meaning the engineers were already aware of the aliens. Also the crashed ship of the very first movie had a dead pilot which was fossilized. That would not happen within just a few years, so the ship probably crashed a long time ago. You could also take the AvP movies into consideration, if you really wanted to. If you think of the Covenant aliens as kind of a "second" generation the AvP movies do not really go against anything established in the other movies. As a sidenote: the white aliens in this movie are called neomorphs and the bulky ones are the protomorphs.
@@steelbarber I'm not sure. I just took another look at it and it does have four arms and a "crown". However the shape isn't right. Maybe this is supposed to be a "deacon queen"? Either way, it still proves that the xenomorphs, or at least one sub-species of xenomorph, was already known to the engineers. It is really too bad that we never got the third part of that trilogy. Maybe this riddle could have been solved.
It’s shocking to me that audiences aren’t suspicious enough of David in the first movie and still don’t understand how dangerous he is in this movie until it’s all being laid out. Maybe it’s the politeness? As long as David is bland and polite, nobody seems bothered to dig deeper. Which, of tbh, meshes with my experience of society, where people will accept those who can blend in with their group and appear to respect their feelings of importance/value within the group, even if that person’s actions demonstrate clear violations of values that the group believes that all members should uphold. It makes sense that David was “too human” and promoted the creation of Walter, who to me seems just as human but with a more humanistic attitude. David is human in the way cult leaders are human.
Blame it on Bishop. Ash was bad but Bishop was good. Call was also good (as a auton created by the synthetics and not humans) If you played the game, Isolation, Christopher Samuels helps Amanda Ripley. That of course led to many a shipper of Ellen Ripley/Bishop, Call/Ripley, A. Ripley/Samuels and Shaw/David 8 at the end of Prometheus for those who interpreted his actions as unable to disobey Weyland and not his own actions). You only know David 8 is bad if you watch Prologue: The Crossing, where Shaw attaches David's head to his body, you see she trusts him to put her in cryo (And she may have been sick given her pallor) and you see the weapons being dropped
I find it interesting that the initial display of _USCSS Covenant's_ ship and mission data at 4:42 is reminiscent of the screen appearance on the MU/TH/R display of _USCSS Nostromo_ 9:27 Katherine Waterston also played a major role in _Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them_ as a member of the US Magical Congress.
Before you guys watch the movie people in the common forget to mention official "alien covenant prologues" in youtube what really happend to last movie Elizabeth Shaw and James Franco cammeo.
Not knowing the word covenant is crazy... its a promise made two ways, you promise me this, and I promise you that... a marriage for example is a covenant, a lot of times theres symbolism used which is why religious promises usually called covenants, anyway, many religions call baptism a covenant, they say your promising to believe in and follow Christ, hes promising Eternal Life or whatever they believe... anyway, that's what a covenant is, a promise made two ways...
43:20 Walter is a more advanced model compared to Ash and Bishop. He has self-repairing capabilities, which allow him to heal from injuries. This feature is part of his design to make him more resilient and reliable for long-term missions1. Ash, on the other hand, is an older model with a different set of priorities. He was designed primarily for scientific and covert operations, which didn’t include self-repairing abilities2. Bishop is another advanced model, but his design focuses more on human interaction and ethical behavior, rather than self-repair. His primary function was to assist and protect the crew, adhering to strict behavioral inhibitors being a prequel doesnt mean they were built in that order, Ash and Bishop models were earlier and different than Walter.
Just to clarify one thing here. The aliens we saw in “Alien: Covenant” movie were not the original xenomorph we saw in “Alien” and “Aliens” franchise. Just like in “Prometheus” movies, the virus or pathogen 🦠 manifests different kinds/types/shapes/species of creatures by hosting or infecting the human bodies. These alien creatures in “Alien: Covenant” were more agile, feral, skinny and edgy/thorny compared to the original xenomorph. So, at best you could only called it xenomorph-like creatures, but not xenomorph itself 😊
@@rmhartman The original intent of "xenomorph" was not to say "this species is called 'xenomorph'" but rather to say, "this is an unknown organism" aka, "an alien creature." The term xenomorph is tossed out pretty casually by the Lt Gorman, and Gorman (and the marines in general) definitely had never encountered nor knew anything about the aliens, because at that point the company was still denying the aliens existed. "We've lost contact with the colonists and there may be an alien organism involved."
Yes, the xeno we all know and love , is bio mechanical in nature . The alien in covenant is a protomorph as Ridley Scott calls it ( David’s prototype) and is only organic in nature , like the white neomorphs and the final deacon at the very end of Prometheus all organic only . To get the actaul bio-mechanical xeno , it’s been suggested David in search of evolving his perfect organism sacrifices himself or perhaps some of his body parts somehow , and this sporn the very first xenomorph , which is both mechanical and organic in nature … It’s what maybe what the 3rd prequel would have been about . David’s further experimentation on the colonists on the covenant ship and perhaps on himself , then leads into the back end of the 1979 Alien;) and an engineer get facehugged somehow , leading to the derelict and the space jockey sitting in the chair on lv426 that was first discovered in the 1979 Alien.
I hope ya’ll will watch the prequel shorts that were created for Prometheus and Covenant. Definitely for Covenant though since Franco and Repace filmed scenes that were not meant to be in the film
Will you be following the Predator franchise now to deal into the Alien vs. Predator movies, similar to how Roxy and Tara followed both Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th franchises?
You guys are getting deep into it now. Can't wait to see Tara freak out at AVP or Romulus. Not the second AVP though I think despite the dope concept that movie can be left alone
I do think these are fun to watch but then when you give an in depth review/criticism at the end, it’s kind of hard to take seriously because you have talked over key moments of dialogue and story. I think it might be beneficial to have shorter videos and not talk quite so much.

@blinkachu5275
Charlese Therons character used all the brains in prometheus in that one moment she torched the guy who was infected instead of letting him on board. That one reasonable action stole the IQ from the rest of the movie
David when creating the xenomorphs: "yeah so they gotta be the perfect organism...but I gotta make them scared of cats tho bc fuck them mfs"
What does it mean?
Loving these TARON reactions, honestly you guys are such a great duo, great chemistry. After all the Alien franchise and Predator franchise stuff, hope you guys stick together and react to a bunch of horror stuff, cause Tara's blood pressure is just not high enough (kidding, love you Tara, you're great and make these reactions so great!)

I'm starting to realize you guys pay virtually zero attention to dialogue. A character will mention something and then you guys question it as if they didn't just effing tell you not five minutes before.
This is like every one of their videos, every reactor on this channel besides maybe greg do it and my head canon is that they know they’re doing it and are just trying to get people commenting because theres no way they can all be so oblivious and dense
Andrew might be the worst one, will literally shout out something so unrelated to the movie and miss dialogue or a plot device and then question/review negatively because he doesn’t know how to just watch the damn movie
@@evilclown5 Are you sure you don't mean Aaron? Because everything you described is what he does. I've never noticed that with Andrew.

It’s either that, or they’re jump scaring ‘purge’, talking or theorizing about things that’ll soon have answers while missing actions and/or dialogue…
@@ChrisTheAspergerGuy nope, Aaron is bad but Andrew is worse
The Ghostbusters Frozen Empire reaction has like 4-5 examples of what I exactly described, it was Andrew shouting out pointless “trivia” unrelated to the movie and him missing entire plot beats and then at the end when they reviewed it he gave them negative feedback because he couldn’t just take a minute and watch the damn movie

Bloody loved this ALIEN's music the bass every time is great feeling
31:30 The MOTHER was voiced by Helen Horton ....Small trivia here
Not in this movie
Check out the original screen play it a million times better and it fleshes out David’s story also the accompanying book ‘David’s Drawings’ is a must read.
The book ending though...
The reader doesn't know if Daniels figured it out since there was no cabin by the lake mistake.
There was only "I'll love you just the same" that you have to remember he said after he kissed her.
He even wonders if she figured it out.
This still my favorite film in Alien franchise and I won't apologize for my love.
As soon as David cut his hair I said "He's going to switch places with the other android" and then the fight ended and "Walter" showed up I knew it was him, even with the scare David had no reason to give himself (unless it is a body switch)
Some of the crew were frustratingly incompetent and negligent!
36:22 Why do you say "Good catch" without even confirming if it really is Signorney Weaver?
That did make me chuckle just a bit. They were both sure in the moment at least lol
The effects in this movie look freakin amazing to me. Idk how people have a problem with iT. It’s so cool and real
I love it too. The theming, foreshadowing, music choice, and storytelling are all excellent. There are some minor details that don’t make as much sense (like the scientists not doing enough analysis before breathing open air on an unknown planet), but they’re forgivable for the most part. The film is gorgeous. And the ending was genius too
A lot of people didnt like this movie but i don’t careeeeee i loved it lol I watch it allll the time
Alien - a blue collar, working class, slasher film.
(I think 4 doesn't move anything forward, so I'm skipping.)
Prometheus - A "hope and change" Obama era film that ponders the innate need for us to trust where we're going and what we're made of and the hope that who created us has the empathy that we know we're capable of.
Did UA-cam really make you censor a spore burrowing into an ear? 😂😂😂

I hope you guys react to AvP films as well before seeing Romulus!
I don't care what anyone says, i love this movie. I recognize some of its flaws. But i also think the hate is over exaggerated and comes from place of bias and unrealistic expectations. The movie is not perfect but its not as bad as some people make it seem. Wish they'd finish this part of the Alien saga
Its mostly because it’s pointless
@simplebull210 - It gave birth to the Walter/Daniels ship - therefore it is not pointless!
@Harley-chan69 - If you have read the book: "I'll love you anyways" is a better ending.
It's not that great as Prometheus but I honestly loved that movie. ❤ Whenever it's comes down to alien stuffs Ridley Scott is the best man.
all the complaints about these films could be said about the original, touching things they shouldn't, stupid crew blah blah.. this film is the perfect blend of the mysteries of Prometheus and the classic Alien tropes. Best one right here 😎
Not true
I wonder how many people would raise the same complaint about Star Trek where they basically never take ANY safety measures 😂

Super 8 (2011)
they shot scenes with the crew together on ship and showed there relationships and shot the scenes between shaw and david on the ship and what happend to her but cut it all out in the final film , you can see both on youtube , it would have improved the film

I remember the crew scenes when I saw it at the theater. Did they only cut it out for certain places?

Great video. I love your unique ways to name creatures and characters. It's so adorable.
My mother does that aswell. I can't even spell the name she gave Lui Kang from Mortal Kombat.
I loved this one way better than Prometheus. I hope the success of Romulus will enable them to give us finale on David's story.
success? alien covenant was a box office flop. It underperformed
@@thewerewolff7248 I meant Romulus, lol. Fixed it
If. I’m not on the. Enterprise. Fuuuu. Going there. Unarmed.
The mural is of the Deacon

Call was also good (as a auton created by the synthetics and not humans)
If you played the game, Isolation, Christopher Samuels helps Amanda Ripley.
I find it interesting that the initial display of _USCSS Covenant's_ ship and mission data at 4:42 is reminiscent of the screen appearance on the MU/TH/R display of _USCSS Nostromo_
9:27 Katherine Waterston also played a major role in _Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them_ as a member of the US Magical Congress.
Coming 🔜 A L I E N: REPENTANCE
I enjoy covenant more than Prometheus but at the end of the day I just don’t like my Alien Films to be weighted down by lore and histrionics.
His primary function was to assist and protect the crew, adhering to strict behavioral inhibitors
being a prequel doesnt mean they were built in that order, Ash and Bishop models were earlier and different than Walter.
That was a ‘Deacon’ at the end of Prometheus. The white alien in this movie is a ‘neomorph’ and the final alien is a ‘protomorph’
Do you guys like the rainbow......
@10:40 shes not wearing a cross, in this one, but she is wearing a traditional iron nail. In the style used to put jesus on the cross.
The white ones are neomorph the alien that comes out the captain is the protomoroph
HOLY SHIT, thats what i just watched right now 😮😮
This movie is sooooo underrated! Actually I think it’s great!
Yeah, David just had 10 whole years to figure things out & got very close.
[ but not xenomorph itself ]
Dude. Look at the roots of the word xeno+morph. It is literally designed to change and adapt.
To get the actaul bio-mechanical xeno , it’s been suggested David in search of evolving his perfect organism sacrifices himself or perhaps some of his body parts somehow , and this sporn the very first xenomorph , which is both mechanical and organic in nature …
It’s what maybe what the 3rd prequel would have been about .
