I love the rim. One of my favorite areas. Here's my take on the area. I'm a native arizonan and I will add some pros and cons. Pros- it's beautiful and vast. Lots of wildlife. No fees and more dispersed camping than you can imagine. Not many people up there at all during the week. Weekends are busy but there's still plenty of spots. Until last summer, bear canyon lake was my go to spot. Cons- until my trip last summer, I would of had a hard time finding cons. First and foremost, as mentioned in the video, the toilet paper. This has been a problem since before covid, but covid made it worse way worse. Toilet paper everywhere. The forest service had the toilets locked up so people just shit, wiped their asses, and left the tp right there on the ground. It was awful. It's an embarrassment. Please bury your shit. Con #2- ATV's and the dust they create. I've never been on a trip that dusty. Con #3- assholes that don't leash their dogs. Let's just say my pitbull now has a MMA record of 2-0. Both wins by submission. My dogs are always leashed. I had to break up both fights as the other dog's owners were both over 50 yards away. I hope this helps with more info. Awesome place. Better during the week. (fishing is a waste of time on weekends)
Great info. Also a pit owner... And yes, people figure "well my dog's friendly..." ...but other people's leashed dogs may not be. And that's not singled out to just pits. Good to know I'll need to beware.
I was just looking for places to stay along the Mogollon Rim, like 10 minutes ago, lol. Scrolling my subscriptions I saw that you have this video, woo hoo! Taking notes. See everyone out on the dirt roads!
It's dusty that's for sure! I'm here right now...right now we are having wind gusts of 30 mph hopefully rain in a couple days though that will help. Roads are ruff try to have a off road vehicle. I had an bull elk come right up to me one day eating a carrot right out of my hand.
Used to drive a truck at night through there thought a UFO was gonna get me because it's in the middle of fucking nowhere other than that it was amazing

I used to camp up there a lot. Then for some reason the USFS put a camp host up near the dispersed camping area and he spent his time driving around in his UTV hassling campers. I wonder if he's still there or not.

Hey guys. I’m planning to buy a B+ / C class RV for myself and my german shepherd to travel and camp off-grid around the US for a year. I’d like the van to be spacious, and have great off-grid capabilities such as solar panel extension option, etc. I’ll be working for maybe 4-5 hours a day, so would require good internet connection and power supply. I also like to watch Netflix at night lol. So good power supply is key. I have personally liked Thor Delano and RVs similar but I’m unsure if they’re fit for the lifestyle mentioned above Could you all please guide me? Any links or suggestions would be highly appreciated
Excited for your future journey, Danny! At Campendium we focus on helping you find a great campsite. I recommend searching for forums regarding specific rig types you're interested in. Once you're ready to camp/RV, be sure to check out Campendium to help you find (and review!) campsites! -Liz
Tucker (who wrote the review we shared, written in 2016) states: "Pick up a copy of John Shotts map of all the "FR" (Fire Roads) around the Mogollon Rim to assist you as transit the rim. I hear that the map is available at some local stores. I purchased mine for $3.00 at the Campers Country Corner (928) 535-4716, 889 Highway 260, Forest Lakes, AZ (across from Mogollon RV Park.)" You may also have success searching online. Happy travels! 🗺 - Liz
We focus on Recreational Vehicle camping at Campendium, so you'll need to contact land management/Ranger stations for more info on this! -Happy camping! - Liz
I tent camped there for years before I bought my camper. Please bring a shovel and bury your shit. Plenty of soft ground. Plenty of rocks. It's worth it. There are pit toilets at bear canyon and knoll lakes for sure, plus a couple other areas. Weekdays are best if you are going to fish.
If you're looking for a great campsite with fishing opportunities, head over to www.campendium.com and search for a location that interests you. Then, add the 'fishing' filter (More filters -> recreation -> fishing) and see what's around! 🎣
Actually, Seth was there just a couple weeks ago and from the looks of it, it wasn't very busy! As of yesterday, 89% of campgrounds, dispersed camping locations and RV parks listed on Campendium are open: www.campendium.com/camping/covid-19-state-by-state-campground-closures-responses/
I was going to add that when We went there--if we saw dispersed campers - we would wave Hi and continue driving slowly down the rough road until we were at least 1/4 mile away+
Thank you for the reminder to leave no trace. 🙏🏼
We couldn't agree more.

If you're referring to the Mogollon Monster, no. However, that's not to say we don't "believe"! 😆 - Seth

@@Campendium thank you sir
Most Arizonans pronounce it Moe-Goe-Yon. Just as the town of Prescott here is pronounced Pres-kitt. :-))
Press-cut, not Press-kitt
@@scottd2063 Presskitt, not Presscut or Presscot. ;_))
Why send them to my backyard?
Is it really pronounced "Muggyon?"
YES
Probably PACKED because every other place In the country is shut down.
