Just wanted to tell you that I thoroughly enjoy your videos! They are scenic, thoughtful, humorous, intriguing, interesting and very entertaining. Thank you for a wonderful video. I binge watched a few episodes when I first discovered your channel. Had to reign myself in and set limits or I would have run out of our visits. That’s what these feel like. We are sitting at the kitchen table and you are sharing pictures and stories of your travels, trials, tribulations and triumphs! Good Job Sir. Very Good Job.
Grew up in Arizona, 50's. Too bad about Buckeye Hills. I wish they would try to regulate things better, rather than just shutting things down. It's getting to where camping areas have to charge some kind of fee just to pay for some enforcement. There are nice boondock areas on the Utah Arizona border (end of River Rd in St George), but you get shooters and ATV's. The Tonopah area used to be unknown, but it's gotten a lot of attention. You have a mix of elevations, so some might be cold in December. These spots are definitely more interesting than Quartzsite. It's nice to be fairly close to a city, like that spot outside Tucson. There is a newish National Monument that allows camping: www.americansouthwest.net/arizona/ironwood_forest/national_monument.html Jim Gaffigan has a funny routine about Hot Pockets.
I’m glad you enjoyed our fair state. People should know, though, that you can camp for free on any BLM land for up to two weeks in one location, and we have a BOATLOAD of BLM land ALL around the state. Happy travels 🙂

Pam Love Yep my wife would have killed me for doing such a terrible thing to one of her cookie racks. I always did think that it would make a great grate as it were.
You found some nice spots. The Oak Flat area is at risk of being lost in a land swap to the mines in the area. I am not sure of the current status. You were close on the jets. They are from Luke AFB on the northwest side of Phoenix and they are headed to the Barry Goldwater Gunnery Range, a large restricted land area in the southwest area of the state. It is an area you would not want to explore because there are probably some unexploded weapons laying around! Luke has been a primary training base for the F16 and is transitioning to the F35. Will you be spending anytime in sunny and warm southern Arizona or Mexico this winter? You do a great job of showing the area. That fry bread sure looked good. I think the bird attacking your jeep is a female phainopepla. It may have seen its reflection in the window and thought it was another bird invading its territory. That is common in the spring nesting season. Cactus wrens do that a lot. Thanks for the video.
Looking forward to new videos of the area. I always learn new things. This video taught me about the hot springs and the nice plaza in Ajo as examples.
Do you know any free camping places near Phoenix Arizona we live in Phoenix Arizona and are looking for places to go camping as a family we would like to take our baby camping like we got to do as kids we are from Michigan so we don't know a lot of places to go camping here
Gary .... It would helpful if you could specify what you consider close and to what area of the Phoenix valley and also what kind of camping you are planning to do, tent, van, travel trailer, class A, etc. There are six Maricopa County campgrounds (Cave Creek, McDowell, Usury, White Tank, Estrella, Lake Pleasant) and Dutchman State Park but they charge in the low $30s for hookups and low $20s for ones that offer no hook ups. They have nice sites. There is Forest land north around Seven Springs and north of Apache Junction good for tents but RV spots may be harder to find. There are some Tonto Forest camp grounds so check their web site. They may charge. I do not know of "close" free. There are some BLM spots but most are not in areas that may not be what you have in mind for a family "camping" experience and are not real close.

Great video! I'm now a new subscriber, just based on this one. I realize this was posted awhile back, but if you are still trying to find out about your cooking rack, it's a cooling rack for baked goods, like cookies or cakes. You can find them by the cookie sheets and pie pans in the cookware sections of stores. I used one way back in a small stove that didn't come with any interior racks, and it worked great. Fit perfectly on the little interior rack holders.

The collective mantra of people living in small motorhomes should be minimalism. This makes a lot of sense in a finite planet. Class A monoliths should be a thing of the past.
You got me interested in boondocking in AZ back in 2018, then retired, bought a used TT and headed south to AZ from Winnipeg Mb in Dec 2019 as a solo snowbird. Had the time of my life till the big C hit in March 2020 and have not been back, but planning to again go back this Dec🤞. First place i stayed was one of your spots Snyder Hill. Love your vids. The wore rack is actually a cooling rack for baking. You can get them at Walmart, Sam's Club, or Costco. I bought a set of 3 pieces years ago and use them still. In case you want another. :)
Half of my family lived in Tenn, the other half in Az. I grew up in Tenn. Every summer we headed to Az and camped. My folks had a 72 Chevy Suburban & a r.v. We boondocked about half the time & always near a river or forest ... My folks wanted to retire in Az , and I considered moving there myself.. My dad retired and they were in the process of selling the farm when my mother woke up with a migrane headache . Tests revealed a brain tumor & she was gone just a few months later.. My poor dad would sit in their motorhome & look at the pics from all the years we traveled . They started when there was just my oldest brother , and then 4 more kiddo's came along... I knew my dad would never move far from my mother & I think the thought of moving to Az alone was far too painful for him . I've taken my family out west many times & Az is always a favored destination... We still go to a few spots where my folks ,and a few aunts & uncles & cousins would go... All off the beaten path... Boondocking is a fairly good way of finding a spot thats private & secluded . Love the state . If anyone reading has never been , put it on your bucket list . Its like no place on earth...

It is not just Canada. I hear even young US people say how that decade must have been SO cool. Lol.
As a native Arizonan I laughed so hard when you said really hot in the 80’s also you should live here when it hits 118F.
80F , that is like, 20 degrees below 100F. Like way down into the two digits. Kind of cold in the Arizona summer time.

Thank you for sharing your journeys'' happy campin''
