Yeah i tried this a couple of Weeks ago. I thought it had a bit of roasted flavour coming through on tasting it, but it just 'sloped off' to practically nothing. I had a similar expression to yourself. 😂 That kind of disappointed, unimpressed look. The only Guinness i drink these days is the imported one that's 7.5%. Not because it's pretty strong (though it helps 😉) but i think it has much more character than the draught version. Cheers Fella. Damn shame what companies do for cash ain't it. They think we all drink from our toilet or somethin'? 🤣
May a request a beer review of Timothy Taylor's havercake? I know you're a fan of the brewery and it's sounds interesting(made with oats). Love the channel and glad you're back making reviews.
Used to enjoy a Hobgoblin - alarm bells started going when they reduced the ABV of the draught version. Never had this stout but have had the Black Wych back in the day, which I thought was decent at the time. The UK obsession with 440ml cans boils my piss, we’ve always been conned since this infatuation cane about - that’s why I’ll always go for bottle over can, with the exception of German beers who do 500’s in both. Oh and Marston’s are c***s!
Wychwood WAS my favourite English brewery and there aren't many. Black Wych and the original Ruby were lovely. There's way better breweries in Scotland (Isle of Arran, Orkney and Ayr are prime examples of micro breweries) where I'm from but I'm biased. Saying that, you know my favourite beer country is Germany 🇩🇪 especially Bavaria - and always will be. Prost! 🍺 P.S. I have worked for Marstons, Green King and Wetherspoons in the past.
I'll always have a slight sentimental feeling for anything with the word 'Hobgoblin' in it. I came in perhaps just at the end of when it (that being the flagship Ruby version) was still a good, even great, beer, about a decade ago. I've never tried this one, but I wouldn't hold out much hope for it. The label on this looks like they are self-parodying given how bland it is.
