@@ColeEvyx it happens, I had to test it first to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Definitely loving SCH in pvp it's my go to healer, closely followed by AST (some lucky draws can really turn a game around)
@@ColeEvyx Was going to say this myself, I was confuzzled. XD But yeah, it's super nice the 10% buff/debuff (for Bio) just require slapping someone with Adlo/Bio and Deploying it. You just get extra spice when you have Recitation with extra shield/damage. :D I tend to think of Recitation as just an extra bonus with the 10% extra damage (Adlo)/10% damage nerf (Bio) being the main course of those spells. I'm still not sure I SCH well in PvP (my healing amounts seem far lower than when I WHM), but I feel like I'm buffing and supporting my party, which I love anyway. I feel PvE SCH could learn a thing or two from PvP SCH...if the Devs could get over the stupid 2 min buff burst window thing that, frankly, needs to go die in a fire...
I am in love with my PvE main in PvP! The buffs were necessary and have made Scholar a very VERY viable and strong pick! Do NOT sleep on the Scholar! SO fun!
I feel like most people have sleeping on this job but I love playing it in PvP. In Frontline, I've noticed SCHs often top damage dealt and assists with their deployed recitation bio and party buffs. Its a lot of fun to play and in CC too.
Like you said I love the pressure you can put with Scholar and the amount of consistent damage thanks to the dot is awesome too! That’s why it has been my main since I first tried it
I really love Scholar in Crystalline Conflict. It’s still not 100% in its identity though. Not enough healing to be a healer like White Mage, not enough Damage to be a threat like Sage, and not enough Burst to be a threat like Ast. I feel that this Buffing / Debuffing identity would work if it has more melee survivability. It’s Niche role is Anti-Tank War & Pal, by reducing their healing. It can provide backline support by focusing down a target trying to take out the backline. It’s there to eat up the other team’s resources for sure. I feel that the developers need to really think about Sch’s identity. If it’s really supposed to be a healer, the shield needs to be bigger. Every “autoattack” is 4k at minimum. It’s hard to deploy, both in seeing it still exist and the existential pain of using deploy on it. I will argue that the recitation adlo isn’t worthless. If you can spread that shield before a big ult (like people didn’t see the dragoon jump or the blue circle, it can save lives. Because Expedient mit, and the boosted shield, is a good way to avoid being killed by Markman’s Spite if your bubble isn’t up. I personally want the anti-melee identity solidified. Mummification really needs to have a heavy effect on it. That would allow a Scholar to engage, peel, or chase down a target. Without changing anything, that would add a lot. It would also give Scholar more survivability, as it has a rough time being focused with two melee. It can handle one, but not two. The only other problem is with Seraph. It doesn’t move. If you used it and avoided a white mage’s stun, and can push the crystal, your seraph watches you depart and that healing is wasted. Outranging your limit break is terrible if that is the major source of healing. It either needs to move, or could be relocated like Sage’s limit break.
My one complaint is that Mumification's got a relatively short range and is a cone - didn't they JUST get rid of that on WAR for PvE because they decided it wasn't fun? Though I feel an 8 yard cone is maybe better than a 5 yard AOE, I'd rather it be a target centered 5 yard AOE since SCH isn't exactly meant to be a front-line, in-your-face melee fighter, so forcing melee range seems odd. Aura Blast did the same thing, but WAS a circle and also did a knockback, getting the enemy away from you. Mumification with a knockback might be too much to ask for, so something to increase the range would be lovely. But other than that, I really do love it. You don't have much burst yourself, but you're a support healer, which is my favorite kind. Something I wish we did more of in PvE, as other than Chain Strategem, we don't really...do...that. Seraph is also amazing, especially considering how much they've nerfed overall healing in PvP, it makes SCH one of the more powerful burst healers at need. My WHM healing numbers are still way higher, though, but I feel like I might be doing more good on SCH by increasing the capabilities of my allies and decreasing the effectiveness of the enemy team. People are sleeping in SCH in PvP just like they did PvE, but it's so good.
Spread Adlo for 10% dmg buff to entire pt, thats the primary use, not really the weak 4k shield, or even 6k shield with recitation. Basically, you never use Recitation on Adlo, its a waste. You use it to buff up Biolysis to spread it on everyone.
I picked up scholar for pvp (and trying to learn pve!) And HOLY SHIT THANK YOU HAHAHAHA. SCH is SOOOO much easier and way more fun than the other classes bar none. Swapped from MCH and I'm already doing so much better and yeah, topping those damage charts like no ones business.
I honestly don't think its worth reciting adlo at all, the 8k shield is still pretty sad. I feel like I'm only deploying adlo for the catalyze dmg buff alone and the shield is just kinda tagged onto there. If only reciting adlo boosted the dmg buff % as well.
its fun but CC isn't about dmg. You can be top dmg with Scholar every match but NO one cares cuz you'll still lose if the enemy team has a competent WHM/WAR. PVP is about CC not dmg.
It's a bad job for pvp. I REALLY tried making it work. It doesnt matter how good your "over time" effect is on the resources, you have a really hard time killing people, and outside these, your existence is not relevant enough to push your team towards victory. Dragoon for example, if it has everything, it can deal more than 60k damage in less than 10 seconds. Sure it might be a lot lower than what a scholar can do, but its infinitely more useful, because it has a high chance to remove 1 player from the equation, making the battle 4v5, and it doesn't take that long to do it again. Jobs that either really hard to kill, have a lot of cc, or have a high killpressure will dominate jobs that have a constant effect on the battlefield. Scholar might be the strongest job in Frontline, but in cc its just trash. Might be usable in lower tiers, but it doesn't exist in crystal.
Not sure if I'm misunderstanding you, but you don't need recitation to get the Catalyze effect. So every Adloquium has that 10% damage buff on it.
OOPS.
Ends up my PvE brain and the tooltip's text layout merged together into super smol brain mode on my bad. PINNED CAUSE I DERPED.

Nothing is more fun than putting a dot on a sam in Frontlines, watching him dash back to his group and unknowingly give them all the plague.
Stop making people aware of our power!!!

yeah its a very awkward skill

It's only 6K shield. Base 4K, 50% buff -> 6K. Yes its a complete waste. Recitation best on Biolysis spread, 15k -> 22.5k dmg to every enemy is huge.
