I was a Sage main, but then I started reading lord of mystery’s, picked up Astro and now I can’t get enough of it. Listening to LOTM while lvling Astro has been such a vibe. obsessed !
I actually have been obsessed with Astrologian lately. It honestly feels so remarkably good to play and oam sure there are a ton of people that have seen me in party finder (and I know my static) see me on Astrologian. This healer feels like a BEAST!
As a WHM main, AST feels like it has more tools than WHM in its healing kit and DPS kit. That part feels bad to me. I enjoy both and have taken them to 100 but I need more buttons to push on WHM. Something feels like it's missing somehow.
@@MrJammers I just realized this is an amazing idea. making assize 2 stacks would allow us to actually use assize as a heal vice throwing it out on CD for dps
Aero III. That’s what WHM is missing. Two stacks of Assize is nice, but I’d like to have Aero III back. Glare IV could’ve been that substitute, but it’s locked behind an action that has a 120sec CD.
Gotta say I've played all of the healers and Astro appeared the most daunting with it's card system. Once you understand how they all work jesus christ does it feel good to use. In dungeons you can stack so much mit or so much regen/shield that each wall pull is practically a cake walk. It's actually very rewarding compared to the other healers imo.
Also, unrelated to the topic of this video but it sparked in my head watching your footage and looking at the PFs: I'm really happy that we have seemingly moved away from groups feeling like they NEED to bring certain comps to the point that they would exclude certain jobs so that a different job could come. I'm not saying this doesn't happen at all but from what I've seen with the addition of Viper and Pictomancer groups seem to be perfectly open to bringing more selfish DPS to the mix even if they don't have the same overall utility. For example, seeing both Viper AND SAM brought in the same party is in stark contrast to Stromblood and part of Shadowbringers were groups would exclude SAM in favor of other melee DPS like Ninja and Dragoon. Also, with Pictomancer's addition I'm seeing groups actually be open to the idea of having a caster that's NOT a rezzer like RDM and SMN which is great for me because I LOVE Pictomancer and while I can play those other two jobs I'd prefer not to if at all possible.
There are some AST mains on controller UA-camrs. But nevertheless I agree, it still feels like you need to put in so much more effort to play the job on a controller.
Can I ask, how in the world can you double weave a card? I can never do that no matter what. I tried light speed but it's always clipping. I can't just go from damage, divination and click the dps and give them a card without clipping it. OGCD that require you to target the pt member or ground target are things I can't double weave no matter what I do. I can like cast malefic pick the target and card them normally but if I tried to double weave it, it's definitely gonna clip. The ground target can macro but because I can't que it, it will clip me all the same if I tried double weave.
I'm really really late to this, so you probably won't see it, but for anyone else who's having this problem: check your ping (aka your latency). The way this game handles latency is really weird and can make it impossible to not clip double weaves if it's too high, especially if your gear has skill/spell speed. Look up arrstatus, find your data center, copy the IP address (the four numbers at the bottom separated by dots, should look something like 204.2.29.9), then open your terminal (win/meta key, then search "terminal") and type in "ping 204.2.29.9", or whatever your server's IP address is. Use ctrl+shift+v to paste in the terminal. It should give you a summary with the average ping over the time the command ran after a bit, but if it's going on forever or you want to cut it off early, press ctrl+c. I don't know what the exact numbers needed are, but I generally get around 80-90 ping and have never had issues double weaving on astro except during lag spikes. You might also want to look at whether there's a large difference between the listed average and maximum ping, or whether there's any packet loss, both can indicate an unstable connection. Note that this won't show you your ping in-game and therefore won't be totally accurate, but as far as I know there's no way to see your exact in-game ping in the base game. If you're not having latency issues, try targeting the player you want to give the card to as early as possible, and start spamming your card button as soon as your first weave STARTS executing (that is, as soon as you can confirm that your first input registered). If you are having latency issues, a vpn might be able to help with that. There are also a few plugins that might help, but you'd be breaking ToS, so use them at your own risk.
I've checked out Astrologian since it was introduced in Heavensward and I thought it was quite interesting back when it could either shield or regen heal paired with cards that did various different things. Obviously this was incredibly difficult to balance for the team but the Shadowbringers and Endwalker versions of AST always just felt very "meh" to me even if they were powerful at times and certainly capable of doing everything in the game. This new Dawntrail version of the job, especially after the recent patches, is to me the perfect balance between the old AST and the new and it's been incredibly fun to use recently. It feels like SE has finally nailed a version of AST that can be balanced among the other healers while still retaining its unique characteristics. Now they just need to slightly bring up White Mage and maybe tweak a few things here and there on Sage and I really do think that healers will end up in the best place they've been in ages.
a astro main i have to say astro is still the weaker full healer in dmg and healing. switched to whitemage for one night in savage and the difference is 5% in dmg
preach brother, logs is a big ego small pp site that's ran by elitists trying to create toxicity, something 14 has enough of with mentors, and other cunts.
I think Arrow and Ewer could use an change they dont really feel impactful. It would he great if Ewer had an mp restore effect or an excog effect to it. It would be funny if Arrow became PVP Arrow but thats not happening, so im not sure what id change Arrows effect to be.
I've played every version astro, I think SB ast remains my fav to this day. Sadly they've been slowly taking away the things I liked anout it, and I really don't like the current card system, so I'll probably wait for 8.0 to see the changes.
Lost me at that crap site Logs, like its meaningless 100% of the time. rest of the video was gr8, also a set rotation seems dumb for a healer because you don't know what is gonna happen, or who's gonna mess up, Healer is a wing it and hope ya win thing while keeping everyone else alive. Ast is awesome though
Dang the job that provides buffs is doing more rDPS than the others...who would have guessed that haha. Click over to aDPS and nDPS tab and you'll see WHM is at the top. AST is finally good now, and to hear a lot of the community crying for it to be nerfed(mostly WHMs) is just insanity to me. Busy jobs should always be the best in their given role/subsection of the role imo. I pray the devs don't touch it because of the criers, it's perfect where it's at. If they were to touch the job at all, give us Nocturnal Sect & Diurnal Sect back and change Ewer into a Crit buff. I get why Ewer is a regen, but we have enough regen buttons. As for the healing side of things, I still say the healers are perfect where they're at. Maybe add more potency to WHM's lily buttons but then again they'd more than likely be eaten just for Misery still...so Buff Medica 1 & Cure 3 instead? But in all honesty, I feel a lot of the complaints from WHMs are just an ego thing. So all in all, it's fine where the healers stand as we're all still clearing the content with what we have with hardly any true struggle. In terms of Fun tho, well.....outside of AST(as it is the most fun one out of them all imo with SCH and SGE fighting over second place) maybe it's time to revisit that Healer Role rework idea to make the jobs fun? Dunno how else to say it but that
There's doing more rpds, and then there's doing 16% more rdps. Winning at aDPS doesn't beat enrage, rDPS does. Obviously, the dps checks are really lenient rn so this isn't really a problem, but I don't think the current gap is healthy.
Really...? like you were plowing a femboy? ... come on ... -_- *sigh*... first try to watch Eksu doin' some Extremes and he yells 'COCKSUCKER!' at the boss because he was bad and got hit... and then I bump into this ...
Astro was my first healer class, it was great, and then they changed my cards and I haven't touched it since
how is the spear a ranged buff and arrow a hp buff? 😭 it’s so confusing now
I was a Sage main, but then I started reading lord of mystery’s, picked up Astro and now I can’t get enough of it. Listening to LOTM while lvling Astro has been such a vibe. obsessed !
AST joins GNB as the jobs I need to be sniffing coke to be above average with

Whm needs assize X2 and assize needs to nourish the blood lilly. Or the new glare needs to nourish the blood lilly. Imo 😂
@@MrJammers I just realized this is an amazing idea. making assize 2 stacks would allow us to actually use assize as a heal vice throwing it out on CD for dps
@@Mimz670 we can dream together 😂
Lilies need to be OGCD. Reduce potency if necessary, but allow me to use lilies for healing and damage more freely and more aggressively.
Aero III. That’s what WHM is missing. Two stacks of Assize is nice, but I’d like to have Aero III back. Glare IV could’ve been that substitute, but it’s locked behind an action that has a 120sec CD.

Double caster is also really viable finally, since blm and pct do melee lvl dmg
What is the card that helps other healers? I may be misinterpreting it xD
I am just going to wait for the total card system rework inevitable in 8.0...and 9.0...and 10.0
I love and would truly enjoy making AST my main, if it weren’t so controller unfriendly.
There are some AST mains on controller UA-camrs. But nevertheless I agree, it still feels like you need to put in so much more effort to play the job on a controller.
I play controller Astro. I will say recently I was introduced to some really good card macros that help make it more fun on controller :)
@@humanoidrkangel yea I agree, macro is the way to go for Astro 🤣 see what I did there?

4 out 6 cards are HP 😴 This is not good for post prog. I personally lean on Rinon's take on AST.
