those are original P-90's, they are what Gibson put on all Les Pauls until about 1957 when they invented the Humbucker. This guitar is a '53 (note the stop-bar tailpiece).
Man everytime I hear this I'm astonished at the soul this man has. He sure could cature the blues flawlessly. Shame he never got to continue. A hidden gem in the blues community.
It's a lot of year later, but I keep coming back to this. I saw him perform this song a couple years before this at a wedding. The most magical live performance I've ever seen. This is a good version. The version I saw in a tent in Tallahassee was transcendent. He kicked the band away and it was just him and that gold Gibson (and a large cup of vodka) and something magical happened. I saw him live a coupe times after that, but nothing ever came close that that night.
I listen to this song once a day every day...and i get chills everytime....i listen to alot of blues and am so happy i stumbled upon mr.Costello ...very very awesome ..
Unbelievable to Me that there were 4 People disrespectful enough to thumbs down this video! They Either Hate good Music, or they are Jealous they cant play like Him! smh...This is Fantastic, heartfelt, emotional, gut wrenching, the REAL f-in Blues!!

Hi my friend JilaX: I'll second that! I have only just discovered Sean Costello. It's too late to see him 'live' but we have his fine CDs. As Little Charlie Baty said about SRV, "It's great that he got to document his talent". I love this song particularly. Fantastic! Bipolar disorder must be a terrible trial to contend with. I make no judgement about his use of drugs: this old world can be a raw experience.... Best wishes to all blues lovers, from the U.K.

It's hard for me to believe that I've never heard of this guy. He was a MONSTER talent. How could he slip under the collective radar?
