As an addition to the Chronus Lux, I love that when it's sheathed it's pretty unassuming. Really simple structure that doesn't stand out much when sheathed, and then BAM you get the badassery. Plays into the "You really don't know who you're messing with" vibe of the Dark Knights. Seriously, imagine being some bandits that spot a random traveler on their own. Dream scenario for you. His sword isn't all that ornate, so it probably either isn't that magical or it's not magical at all, because people who make magic swords are show-offs like that, so you take your shot. And then the sword get's drawn. Shit.
You know, I kind of wish Square would go back and add weapon types from new expansions in certain scenarios. Relics for example, even if they don't do it straight away it would be nice to have, say, an Anima scythe. I'd say anything that would be considered end game should get new class weapons added, and to me end game includes the relics. They don't have to, but it would be nice to see. (I also personally think half the Reaper weapons are a bit mid so far, like scythes that look similar to the Radiant scythe in shape.) Edit: Honestly when it comes to Eureka I don't think the particles were bad, but I'm not a fan of most of the weapon models. The effects are cool but effects alone don't make me wanna go and get the weapons when the models themselves are meh.
The shadowbringers relics crystal effect is rly fantastic but they just need just one more thing to give them that extra oomph they needed for all the trouble , SAM SHB relic is the best Sam sword imo
For me I think the glows on the final stage of the Shadowbringers relics were fine for the most part, but a lot of them were let down by the models they were put on. I appreciate that they tried to be clever with the hole in the final stage warrior axe to have the hole glow, but that axe model was pretty bad and didn't do the glow justice either. Good examples of the Shadowbringers relic glow include weapons like the final stage Gunbreaker, Samurai, Dancer and Red Mage weapons. All of those have great models, and the glow works really damn well as a result. ESPECIALLY the Red Mage one, where the thing that's held in the RDM's off hand is only visible when you're holding the weapon, and disappears when you sheathe it. That was stupidly clever and I love that thing even more as a result. Edit: The models for the second stage and final stage Bard weapons should have been swapped. I'd love to have the final stage glow on that bow that transforms in to a harp on your back when sheathed.

I think the Augmented Law’s Order Rapier is the best relic weapon in the whole history in ffxiv. Just look how gorgeous the light effect it is, and when you draw your sword there’s a little transformation at where you hold it. I just can’t forget how excited I was when I finished it.
Terpander Lux deserve a mention and it’s the one that I feel deserve to be prioritized when doing the Anima weapon. I feel like there’s lot of good looking Dark Knight weapons in the game, while Bard is the opposite. Even with the release of Ultimate weapons, Terpander Lux still holds up pretty well along with those weapons as there’s no Bard weapons that comes close to recreating over-the-top anime effect that Terpander Lux creates.
I dunno, for me, Terpander Lux is just another shiny bow. It's gorgeous, but....The Gandiva step, however....The minute I saw that on someone's back I had to level bard because skewering things to death with arrows delivered off the strings of a giant harp was literally my jam. It's so anime-ridic it hurts. I now have all the harp-style bows in the game (with the exception of the Ultimates - Ultimate Gandiva will be mine!), and I need more. Give me more shiny harps, devs!
I like Galatyn Anemos and Evalach Anemos for Paladin. They have a cool glow effect, but it doesn't at all obscure the underlying weapon model/skin which I think look amazing. Not hard to get either.
Im using that set too, though I often use the HW pld relic as well. The anemos relic is just so clean and I like how it looks with the glamour I have on pld
This is a great list! As a Black Mage main though, there's currently no weapon I love more in this game than the Hyperconductive Hvergelmir from the Anima line. I absolutely LOVE its special effects, and just generally really dig the staff's shape and the faint glow it pulses with even when sheathed. It's also a personal favorite because I tend to make my Black Mage fashion somewhat nature and more generally aether inclined rather than just fire and darkness.
Gae Bolg is the most iconic relic in XIV, and still the best looking model of any of the DRG spears. The only thing that is better than Gae Bolg, is the ultimate version of it.
Great video, Des! I am currently working toward a goal of getting every relic in the game. I think I'll finish probably sometime after 7.0. I have a few breaks planned in. I think I only have about 3 or 4 from your list already, so this is good motivation.
One thing I want to point out with Xiphias that I've not heard anyone talk about is that it's got what I feel is a /heartbeat/. The base weapon (non-glow) has the red chamber pulsing when undyed, and the whole weapon pulses like a heartbeat with the glowy version. Very thematic for DRK, and something that made me love it that much more.
strictly my opinion, but ARR Novus BLM weapon is my favorite BLM staff. It maintains the model of the crashing meteor, and has a BEAUTIFUL dark purple glow. Also, for PLD, imo, the Nexus PLD sword and Shield are the best. The spinning ring of effects on the shield (looks exactly like the old Protect spell they took out of the game) is stunning, and the white cross glow on it adds to the "holy PLD" vibe. cheers!
The Panthean Set from the endwalker Alliance Raid Aglaia combined with High House Half Boots and this Skirt you can get on the Market board (ARR Levels)
Unpopular opinion maybe but the shadowbringer relic final stages are some of my favorite in the game. That holo field theme gives it a magitek feel that really appeals to me, especially for weapons like the gunblade and such.
The RDM and DRK weapons are pretty amazing. There's some other good ones too. I think the MCH lever action double barrel looks better without the holo doodads.
I've always been a fan of the RDMs Murgleis Anemos, its already got an awesome design on its base form so adding a nice glow effect to it id the cherry on top for me
I’m actually going through getting the Paladin zeta weapon now. I’m with you I love it as well. I never knew about the black mage one. Hurts my heart hah, I love the Heavensward one but now that you’ve shown me both I want that version! Gah going to be doing books forever :)
I agree with all of these choices; they are absolutely fantastic weapons. I think a good honorable mention is the Canopus Lux, simply because it's the best AST weapon by far imo. It's the only completed relic I have so far, because when I took up AST I knew it was a weapon I had to have. I'm currently working on the ARR and HW relics for DRG, and I hope to pick up the DRG SHB relic afterwards.
The Blade's Fealty looks nicer in your video than I remember in game. I use the Augmented Laws's Order blade quite a bit. I think that step looks really cool with the flames.
I wish it would be possible to add from relic weapons the shiny effects on others, like on my favourite standard DRK weapon is the long katana (sorry forgot the name) and be able to add some enchantment effect on top of it. That would be some next level in the RP range for sure.
I would definitely agree with the Zeta rod for black magel. It is my main go to relic for black mage. Purple looks better than red usually for black mage sets and the moon symbol is definitely too cutesy for my taste. Although if I were to use the moon I would use it for a sailor mars set.
For me, it will always be Minos Lux the HW Warrior weapon. when seathed it looks to be one of the most realistic axes in a game full of over the top axes. Unseathed it has a great fire axe look so much love for me.
I like the pyros guillotine for the dark knight a lot more than the lux weapon. It is more dark, it shifts colors, and it’s fire I mean it’s awesome in every aspect
Desperius. I’ve had a fair break since the release of Endwalker. Think last thing I did was 1st boss of the raid on savage before taking the break. Any suggestions where to start? Just renewed my subscription to play after work but I always struggle to find my feet after a break with MMOs. Never know where to start. Any advice?

I was going "Wait, for Dragoon he didn't pick Areadbhar? Okay, we gonna fight in the comments." :) But then you did, and all is forgiven. Thank you for the Anima weapon Poetics list. I have picked up the Summoner weapon from that tier (because yeah, who doesn't love giant magic dragon wings?) the WHM weapon, am working on Dragoon next, and then finally Scholar. HW really was the sweet spot for gorgeous weapons, wasn't it? That said, no WHM weapon? Nirvana Zeta is absolutely lovely, and was totally worth the ARR grind (although I absolutely am not doing that mess again for any other relic. I mean, really.) Currently praying that black and purple are NOT the colors for the EW weapons.....
I have some disagrements there, though mostly opinions^^ for example I do not think that Ninjas should have glowly weapons, since it betrays their stealthiness, also about the DRK.. come on the Shadowbringer is the Best imo. Though! You can mix the Yellow Glowing Shield and the Blue Glowing Sword on PLD to act like you have Shield&Sword Oath active at the same time, which looks cool and about the Finished Samurai Relic: The First Attack I did with this Weapon was a 100k Crit (Senei) which felt good and I started Endwalker with this thing^^
As a caster main, I have to say: It is absolutely CRIMINAL that Machinist's Deathlocke Lux isn't in your top 5. It is one of the coolest weapons in the game. So cool in fact it made me start playing MCH back in the day just to have it.
I don't really know how to say which is best or better, i currently only have final hw pld and first shb pld because i mostly play pld (not mastered the job yet, play because i find that sword shield is pog in every games)
I get it why you chose the anima smn weapon to put on the list, but having done the smn as one of my first anima and recently one of my last arr relics, i ended up enjoying apocalypse (the arr) more because, although the lux weapon is flashier, it calls for specifically a purple or yellow/golden glamour set. The arr weapon is way more versatile on variable glamours. Summoner anima weapon is the #1 relic weapon that frustrates me in not being able to dye the glowing part
To this day, Lilith rod Zeta is still my first and ONLY ARR relic. I can't be bothered to do those books again lol. I almost exclusively use that glam on my black mage
my favorites are. for war bravura atma, a bloodstained greataxe. for drg gaebolg, and for drk woeborn. im not a fan of the glowing weapons as you maybe can guess from my choices :p
My freinds in game all have relic weapon collections, so i wanted one. I got my ragnarock zeta, and let me tell u I was suffering the whole time. Arr weapons are so grindy even after being nerfed to be less grindy. Im happy I got my glam for my main Warrior, but Im not going to be relic grinding for a while, espically not an arr one. Its lots more fun just seeing the weapons in a video than actually going and getting them. I did aurum vale so many times for to charge my weapon, I never want to see it again.
They need to do something about the MNK relic weapons, the only one I can actually "like" is the ARR nexus version. All of the rest look meh to me. NIN can use some work too, I primarily use the Nexus version of the Yoshimitsu's
I still think the Pyros SMN book is the best summoner weapon. Burning wings that actually move. Also, it gets points in my book (no pun intended) for being one less people use.
So I know this "make your own list" thing was all just a ploy to get more views on your showcase vids but you worked hard for those and I'm gonna make my list dammit. 10) Parashu Awoken 9) Solstice/Recollected 8) Organum Anemos 7) Matte Blade's Ingenuity 6) Pyros Knuckles 5) Longinus Zeta 4) Yoshimitsu Nexus 3) Woeborn Recollected 2) Matte/Blade's Justice 1) Terpander/Lux Honorable mentions to: Nirvana Zeta or Ingrimm Recollected for best druid rp staff Pyros Blade for being a katana that's on fire Akademos Recollected for having glowy butterflies Vanargand Anemos for being a lamp on a stick and Blade's Serenity for being a Mass Effect Omnitool punchblade but in Final Fantasy. I think Parashu Awoken gets slept on. It's the *most* Warrior weapon in my opinion and it would be higher on my list if I liked playing Warrior like at all. Terpander takes the top spot for being literally the coolest bow in the game for a job that is kinda shafted on relics and other cool weapons. Excited to see what the Sage and Reaper weapons look like. And all the other EW relics too.
Me personally always prefer the Kasasagi Eureka over Sasuke's Blades they don't look as bad when it clips through armor and the dragon looking pummels are nice touch. Also surprise Yoichi Bow Zeta or Terpander Lux didn't make the list. It really hard to find a good bow in this game and they are two of the best.
It's kinda crazy that the hardest relics to make are still the Zodiacs. I honestly hope they step it up for the Manderville wpns. The last 2 expansions the last glow was kinda meh appart from very specific jobs.
I don't like Cronus Lux, I think it's just too out of place and limiting for overall glam with the obscene amount of purple light. Sharpened Tyrant is way cooler imo, and the lighting is neutral so you have way more flexibility with different themes and pallettes.
while scholar generally is very lacking in the relics department, i feel that the zeta for scholar is phenomenal and there are no scholar relics better looking than that one, and as a sch main its my absolute love. i really hope endwalker will come out with a banger of a relic for scholar, because so far none of them have been worth the grind besides the ARR one. with the whole fairy theme going on, theres so many possibilities! the new fae's weapons are EXACTLY the type of thing that scholar relics should have had from the start.
8:00 I think the same thing of the two also I really like that I can mix and match them. I would think the blue flame sword is holy magic and the red flame shield is dark devour magic (absorb damage) LOL 🤣
1:45 Such nostalgia boner from WoW on that one. 1:55 I agree on that one. The purple glowing runic circle far better fits that caster vibe. 3:15 I do quite agree. That is a rather handsome blade there. 5:15 I need that axe. I have indeed been looking. 6:20 I have the Scholar one. Equally as dope. Plus the SCH one spins. 7:20 Very classic Pally weapon. 8:30 That certainly is a fantastic looking sword.
To not see Apocalypse Zeta on the list can be summed up in: my disapointment is imasurable and my day is ruined. And the ARR-relics are not too bad after all. Depending on your luck with the Atma drops it's only 18-20 hours per weapon. Atm it's harder to get to the final stage for a ShB-relic because of how dead DR is. I do hope that we can purchase the drops for final stage from ShB-beasttribes at one point.
I agree with some of these but some of these i just do not see how ended up here at all. Its a subjective thing, thats for sure. For example the anima last stage for machinist: deathlocke lux, where is that? :/ Its my favorite one of them all. WHM anima last stage as well. Thats just to name a couple thats not even on this list :)
im currently working on my Lilith Rod Zeta (light stage is my BANE). Part of me wants to go for the Ninja Zeta weapon too, but gods damn this grind is just awful. no other relic/anima weapon even compares in terms of grind, and i *wish* with all my heart they would drastically reduce the BS for the books and the Light gathering. Yes i am well aware they have already nerfed the books once before, but the amount of BS you go through every time you make an ARR weapon is just unreasonable.
Recollection, ARR relics, Law’s Order (glowy) and Lux relic weapons are the best looking weapons. Never done Eureka one im not interested lol final stage shb is trash that looks like a Walmart logo lmfao and Kinna weapons are amazing as well. This is just my own opinion lol heres to endwalker relic soon! I will get endwalker relic for my rdm first then onto my other classes that i play xD (reaper, dragoon , machinist and warrior) lol

For Bard, the Yoruichi Bow Zeta is the best for me, Terplander feels so.... blinding XD
Cronus (the non-Lux version) also matches the tank Eureka armor really well, especially if you dye the armor black

I personally love Woeborn Recollection for DRK. The broad shape and the swirling blood effects are just *chef's kiss* so good!

Stardust Rod has been my Blm glam since just before hw release. my favorite weapon in the game
I love the purple round relic for astrologian. It should’ve been here together with the next stage of dreizeck.
I feel like the first ShB Samurai glow stage is head & shoulder way above the rest. No need to grind for it ^^

The Pyros relic from Eureka for summoner is also a good alternative to the Heavensward relic. The blue wings with the flames are awesome !

The augmented laws order greatsword is my favorite. Reason being is that it's aura is very similar to the dark knight opening for shadowbringer.
I know it's not as fancy, but i love my last resort zeta (SCH ARR weapon), especially together with the royal vest and angelic criclet^^
The Red Mage Blade's Weapon is also incredible, the effects they did for those work so much better on smaller surfaces like katanas or rapiers.
As a relic hunter myself this was a treat and Agree Cronus Lux is dope asf worth the grind.

Nothing topped Deathlocle Lux for me yet, the way the glow comes out always gets me! xiphias is my 2nd fav relic and best SB relic!
I finished paladin lux weapons earlier in the week and I have been just absolutely in love with the design. I cry for when I have to do DRK.

The Blade's Fealty looks nicer in your video than I remember in game. I use the Augmented Laws's Order blade quite a bit. I think that step looks really cool with the flames.
I wish it would be possible to add from relic weapons the shiny effects on others, like on my favourite standard DRK weapon is the long katana (sorry forgot the name)
and be able to add some enchantment effect on top of it. That would be some next level in the RP range for sure.
5:40 I use the Nightsteel Axe for my WAR because it's the same model, just without the glow effect (and more importantly, without the grind).
Blade's Fealty always kinda reminded me of Zanka no Tachi. Has that burnt blade outline to it
I would definitely agree with the Zeta rod for black magel. It is my main go to relic for black mage. Purple looks better than red usually for black mage sets and the moon symbol is definitely too cutesy for my taste. Although if I were to use the moon I would use it for a sailor mars set.
For me, it will always be Minos Lux the HW Warrior weapon. when seathed it looks to be one of the most realistic axes in a game full of over the top axes. Unseathed it has a great fire axe look so much love for me.
I like the pyros guillotine for the dark knight a lot more than the lux weapon. It is more dark, it shifts colors, and it’s fire I mean it’s awesome in every aspect

Desperius. I’ve had a fair break since the release of Endwalker. Think last thing I did was 1st boss of the raid on savage before taking the break. Any suggestions where to start? Just renewed my subscription to play after work but I always struggle to find my feet after a break with MMOs. Never know where to start. Any advice?

I have picked up the Summoner weapon from that tier (because yeah, who doesn't love giant magic dragon wings?) the WHM weapon, am working on Dragoon next, and then finally Scholar. HW really was the sweet spot for gorgeous weapons, wasn't it?
That said, no WHM weapon? Nirvana Zeta is absolutely lovely, and was totally worth the ARR grind (although I absolutely am not doing that mess again for any other relic. I mean, really.)
Currently praying that black and purple are NOT the colors for the EW weapons.....
What I've been wondering is if we'll get an option to trade in SHB relics to get a leg up like we did from ARR to HWD.
I have some disagrements there, though mostly opinions^^
for example I do not think that Ninjas should have glowly weapons, since it betrays their stealthiness, also about the DRK.. come on the Shadowbringer is the Best imo. Though! You can mix the Yellow Glowing Shield and the Blue Glowing Sword on PLD to act like you have Shield&Sword Oath active at the same time, which looks cool and about the Finished Samurai Relic: The First Attack I did with this Weapon was a 100k Crit (Senei) which felt good and I started Endwalker with this thing^^

It is absolutely CRIMINAL that Machinist's Deathlocke Lux isn't in your top 5. It is one of the coolest weapons in the game. So cool in fact it made me start playing MCH back in the day just to have it.

I don't really know how to say which is best or better, i currently only have final hw pld and first shb pld because i mostly play pld (not mastered the job yet, play because i find that sword shield is pog in every games)
I get it why you chose the anima smn weapon to put on the list, but having done the smn as one of my first anima and recently one of my last arr relics, i ended up enjoying apocalypse (the arr) more because, although the lux weapon is flashier, it calls for specifically a purple or yellow/golden glamour set. The arr weapon is way more versatile on variable glamours. Summoner anima weapon is the #1 relic weapon that frustrates me in not being able to dye the glowing part

To this day, Lilith rod Zeta is still my first and ONLY ARR relic. I can't be bothered to do those books again lol. I almost exclusively use that glam on my black mage
my favorites are. for war bravura atma, a bloodstained greataxe. for drg gaebolg, and for drk woeborn.

My freinds in game all have relic weapon collections, so i wanted one. I got my ragnarock zeta, and let me tell u I was suffering the whole time. Arr weapons are so grindy even after being nerfed to be less grindy. Im happy I got my glam for my main Warrior, but Im not going to be relic grinding for a while, espically not an arr one. Its lots more fun just seeing the weapons in a video than actually going and getting them. I did aurum vale so many times for to charge my weapon, I never want to see it again.

They need to do something about the MNK relic weapons, the only one I can actually "like" is the ARR nexus version. All of the rest look meh to me. NIN can use some work too, I primarily use the Nexus version of the Yoshimitsu's
It is crazy. Just finished NIN relic and like final version, but agree the Nexus version is pretty sweet.

I think Parashu Awoken gets slept on. It's the *most* Warrior weapon in my opinion and it would be higher on my list if I liked playing Warrior like at all.
Terpander takes the top spot for being literally the coolest bow in the game for a job that is kinda shafted on relics and other cool weapons.
Excited to see what the Sage and Reaper weapons look like. And all the other EW relics too.

Me personally always prefer the Kasasagi Eureka over Sasuke's Blades they don't look as bad when it clips through armor and the dragon looking pummels are nice touch. Also surprise Yoichi Bow Zeta or Terpander Lux didn't make the list. It really hard to find a good bow in this game and they are two of the best.
It's kinda crazy that the hardest relics to make are still the Zodiacs. I honestly hope they step it up for the Manderville wpns. The last 2 expansions the last glow was kinda meh appart from very specific jobs.
My favorite ? Sharpened axe of the blood emperor
I don't like Cronus Lux, I think it's just too out of place and limiting for overall glam with the obscene amount of purple light. Sharpened Tyrant is way cooler imo, and the lighting is neutral so you have way more flexibility with different themes and pallettes.
You are not wrong, but once you make it fit. It's gorgeous. Maybe I am based as well, as I grinded it back in Heavensward 😅

Body was the Aglaian Armor, Head is something from Heavensward, I believe
while scholar generally is very lacking in the relics department, i feel that the zeta for scholar is phenomenal and there are no scholar relics better looking than that one, and as a sch main its my absolute love. i really hope endwalker will come out with a banger of a relic for scholar, because so far none of them have been worth the grind besides the ARR one. with the whole fairy theme going on, theres so many possibilities! the new fae's weapons are EXACTLY the type of thing that scholar relics should have had from the start.

To not see Apocalypse Zeta on the list can be summed up in: my disapointment is imasurable and my day is ruined.
And the ARR-relics are not too bad after all. Depending on your luck with the Atma drops it's only 18-20 hours per weapon. Atm it's harder to get to the final stage for a ShB-relic because of how dead DR is. I do hope that we can purchase the drops for final stage from ShB-beasttribes at one point.
I agree with some of these but some of these i just do not see how ended up here at all. Its a subjective thing, thats for sure. For example the anima last stage for machinist: deathlocke lux, where is that? :/ Its my favorite one of them all. WHM anima last stage as well. Thats just to name a couple thats not even on this list :)

im currently working on my Lilith Rod Zeta (light stage is my BANE). Part of me wants to go for the Ninja Zeta weapon too, but gods damn this grind is just awful. no other relic/anima weapon even compares in terms of grind, and i *wish* with all my heart they would drastically reduce the BS for the books and the Light gathering. Yes i am well aware they have already nerfed the books once before, but the amount of BS you go through every time you make an ARR weapon is just unreasonable.

Recollection, ARR relics, Law’s Order (glowy) and Lux relic weapons are the best looking weapons. Never done Eureka one im not interested lol final stage shb is trash that looks like a Walmart logo lmfao and Kinna weapons are amazing as well. This is just my own opinion lol heres to endwalker relic soon! I will get endwalker relic for my rdm first then onto my other classes that i play xD (reaper, dragoon , machinist and warrior) lol
