Pronounce Bron-Yr-Aur like "Bron-er-ire". Robert wrote this song about his dog, Strider. If you're familiar with Lord of the Rings (Robert was a huge fan), "Strider" was one of the names for Aragorn. When played in concert, usually Robert would yell the name "STRIDER!" at the end. Zeppelin's songs most often have layers; you hear an acoustic guitar, then the drum to add the "stomp" texture, etc. If you listen nearish the end, John Bonham is playing castanets. In concert, Bonzo would harmonize on this song or sometimes Jimmy. I'm glad you've enjoyed all the songs so far. I often tell people Zep is for moods so if you're not quite enjoying one of their songs, you probably haven't found the right mood for it yet. The album as a whole gives me sunny, summer vibes, which fits the location and manner in which it was conceived and recorded. Yes! You must listen to every song - it's a complete journey and the Zep fans are here for it. That's awesome that you'll be including Olivia on some reactions; she's open-minded, musically astute, and you guys blend well. I am also really excited for you to play some Zep for someone who's never heard them. That is something I often suggest to people is to share what they've learned so far. Then you can use all the great info people have shared with you to give them a fulfilling experience. The Zep family continues! lol
Hey Henrie, very nice to see your comments again. More young people latching on. Your tour guide through the Zeppelin backstory has been as interesting as the music itself. I hope he continues to address you input. Even those of us who grew up with them remain in awe. Your friend in all things in music, Ron
@@scotttrainer9704 interesting, everything I've ever read has it spelled with an "i". Please let me know your source, not because I doubt but because I want to be accurate in sharing my knowledge. I'm always happy to learn new things about Zep!
The next song will blow you away,Lots of people don't like it.,But just open your ears & listen to Jimmy's slide guitar playing it's amazing,I love it ❤️ Aussie Chris here mate 🦘🦘🦘
Finally!!! This song make you want to clap your hands and tap your feet! I’m not a dancer but this makes me want to dance. Loved your reaction…thanks for listening and reacting!!
Excellent song. Henrietta gave you the run-down on it so I'll just add that if you want to react to another live performance (hope those get unblocked soon), take a look at their 1975 Earls Court performance of Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp. It was fabulous, they were really enjoying themselves, and we get to watch Page tearing it up on the acoustic guitar. 🔥 This is one of my favorite songs on album 3. Glad you enjoyed it! :)
So like you said, yet another great tune from Zep, and I’m fully in favor of you finishing out the entire catalog. I was wondering if you would consider Steely Dan for your next deep dive down the 🐇🕳. ♥️✌🏼😎
I think you'd be really blown away by Black Sabbath. There first five albums are all absolute classics. The first album (1970) they were still working it out, but by the second album they had completely invented the genre of Heavy Metal. The most important band in rock after the Beatles, imo. Their music and their lyrics are both equally strong. As an introduction to the band, the live video War Pigs Live in Paris 1970 is perfect. It was filmed right before they recorded their second album. One of the best live performances I've ever seen, the band is on fire.
"We'll still go walking down country lane, sing the same old song, hear me call your name". Always loved this song, one of my fav Zep songs. Just fyi, I head some other reactor mention there's some weird like a fretless bass(?) sound that kind of doubles parts of the vocals in this song that I never noticed before. And I've been listening to this song for 45+ years, bad ears I guess, but that part does add a lot to the song. Just was under my radar I guess. Love your reactions, fun to see you discover all this.
This fun song became part of their live acoustic set, along with That’s the Way and a few others you haven’t gotten to yet. Jimmy, Robert and JPJ would all sit at the front of the stage…..JPJ with his mandolin. Since their concerts often lasted more than three hours and was very demanding, it gave them a break. This was especially helpful to Robert after his car crash in summer of ‘75. His wife Maureen was almost killed and Robert had a shattered ankle and leg and was in a wheelchair for months and didn’t know if he could walk again for awhile. It still gives him trouble on bad days.
Banjo on the first track, dulcimer on the third and Bonzo playing the spoons on this track. The bass on this track is an old double bass with the frets filed down. They rattled.
I'm really enjoying your appreciation of Zeppelin...i'm a massive fan but i avoid playing it for a lot of my friends because many just won't appreciate it like you are...i got my best mate into Zeppelin and he loves them like me....i'm glad you are enjoying the journey
We would never tell you to skip one of their songs .... the only songs of theirs that can conceivably be termed "bad" occur at the very end of their career when, IMHO, some of the Zep spark was missing. But, that is MANY, many albums down the road.
The album was made in an old country house in Wales called Bron-y-Aur. The band had rented it to work undisturbed on new songs. This song and thats a way were part of their concerts, where they always added an acoustic part to get some rest. They always performed these songs while seated. Led Zeppelin concerts often lasted over 3 hours.
Bron-yr-Aur, actually. Welsh is a mystery to people who live only a few miles away across the border! Naturally the song title got misspelt. "Old Shep" is an Elvis song which I can't even think about without crying. Hard when it was on the radio all the time back in the 50s... :-(
Please do some live versions of Zeppelin!! There is nothing like seeing them live!🎵The live version of this one is really fun to watch...Robert Plant is the ultimate frontman!!🎶 This song is about Roberts dog Strider...hence, "blue eyed merle"😁 They loved the Lord Of The Rings books back then way before the movies and have many references to it in many of their songs, including this one...Strider was the dog in the TLOTR books & movies👏🎶

Yeah man, do every song even if you don't like it. It's all we did back in the day short of taking the record off, or putting on FM. Totally different getting music back then. (70's)
While Physical Graffiti is the absolute stomper and one of the greatest albums ever recorded, this is definitely my next fave Zep album, only equal with Zep's first album.
It’s actually Barn Yard Stomp, regardless of what the dopes tell you! Just listen to the music! That is a down home suffel! Lord of the Rings😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
HATS OFF TO HARPER is badass. Don't skip it. In fact, don't skip any Zep songs. Do every album all the way through, in order. You will hear the evolution of the best rock band of all time.
Quit saying simple nothing simple with Led Zeppelin! Yes some time singnatures are 4/4 but the Zeppelin boys do a lot in between that is complex! Another great review keep it going,!

Except his dog was Stryder with a "y".
And Bonham sings the harmony!! JPJ plays a crazy upright bass

Led Zeppelin II is a monster, but this is my favorite LZ album. So much personality on this album, and it feels effortless and easy.
The perfect 'sitting round a campfire' song. From a much gentler time. Brilliant album.
Finally!!! This song make you want to clap your hands and tap your feet! I’m not a dancer but this makes me want to dance. Loved your reaction…thanks for listening and reacting!!
This live in 1975 I think...is phenomenal!! John Bonham sings harmony!! And JPJ plays a crazy looking upright bass...gotta watch it!

"Strider!" I can't listen to this song without stomping and clapping. Love it!

I agree! Try some Sabbath, Silas!

It's about Robert's dog Stryder, a blue eyed Merle.
One thing about led is your favorite song will change a hundred times!
I love Zeppelin III, but really looking forward to Led Zeppelin IV. 🙂👍

I’ve always really liked this song! Good positive energy! I love that they could compose with such great variety.
great live version(Earls Court) Bonham sings!!!!

Flamenco style hand claps with the addition of castanets towards the end in a nod to Spanish flamenco
One of my favorites!!! 🥰
Hats off to Roy Harper is a MUST. Weird mind blower of and under appreciated tune.
Banjo on the first track, dulcimer on the third and Bonzo playing the spoons on this track. The bass on this track is an old double bass with the frets filed down. They rattled.
Top 5 Zepplin songs for me! I like the live at Earl's Court version. The audience reaction/participation is a groove in itself.

This is SUOER FUN to watch live. They have such fun with it and so does the audience.
I really enjoyed this one!! While I enjoyed the vocals, it’d stand up just fine with only the instruments. Big thumbs up on this one!! 🎉

Bron yr Aur- about an hour's drive from where I am sitting, and about 20 miles as the [welsh] crow flies. Wales is a small country.
After this is finished you should carry on to Led Zep 4 it is widely considered to be their masterpiece, although I liked all their albums.
You won't find a bad song. Keep up the great reactions!
Such a fun song!

For me, this song is just good fun! In a great way.
You should react to the last song for sure. There is no such thing as a bad Zeppelin song.
Bron-Yr-Aur is about a dog
Black Dog is about a woman
Led Zep...the best!

Jimmy worked out most of his unforgettable riffs on acoustic guitar first.

Strider!!
Robert wrote about his beloved dog Stryder.

See??? Zeppelin can even do country!
I can't believe I've been listening to this song for about 40 years now and have lost exactly 0 enjoyment from it.
