I'm a minute in and i can't wipe the smile off my face. Glad to have you back Jon! I can't imagine how good it must have felt finally being on the water and throwing out that first cast of the year after everything that happened.

Superb Jon! You have a real knack for this! Thanks. Another question if I may? In another video I think I noticed your buddy (red canoe, IIRC?) had a cover over the bow of his canoe. I think you mentioned he also had more experience in higher class “rapids” than you? He may have even taken your canoe down a particularly intense section? Anyway, it would seem those covers would be huge “safety” item in steep rapids, and/or even getting caught in high wind/big open water crossings. In essence, you’ve turned most of the canoe into a kayak, and would keep a lot of water entering the canoe unexpectedly! Clearly, again, I missing something! 😎 🇺🇸🇨🇦👍
Honestly Johnny, I’ve been watching you for three years. Comfortably almost every video in that time. Dude, this is a masterpiece of you and your style of outdoors filmmaking. Just finished watching your latest video which is a visual masterpiece of filming and editing. We are pleased that your knee is on the mend and the fact you could negotiate these lakes without portaging is a benefit. You are simply the best at presenting these experiences in the quality that you do. Thanks for sharing and welcome back.
Eagles. Bear. Moose. Calf. Loons, Beaver, Northern Lights. Northern Pike. Shooting star. Walleye shore lunch. Otters. Sunset paddle. Outstanding. Good to see you back, Jon. Here’s to camping zen.
This is the beauty of life in the flash. It takes and gives. John got injured and forced to stay home, and now nature rewards him with an amazing trip with a brilliant assortment of wildlife. Love this channel. Thank you john.
You certainly have not lost your touch. Like most of your subscribers I look forward to every presentation (they are not just videos, they are special). I cannot quite understand why you only have 223k subscribers - they don’t know what they are missing.
One more thing. Your portage strategy is on point. My advice; when you heal enough to portage again, don't even tell anyone ( and just keep it like it is. Going downstream is what canoes are made for, especially mine. Maybe put in at a lake and take out at the same place. I know I'm a little older and female, but down here it's pretty common for everyone to just go downstream in canoes. Of course we have more linear rivers than water everywhere like The Canadian Shield. Have fun.😊
Thanks so much for this awesome channel. The vacation of my dreams! So spoiled growing up Canadian, grew up in the Laurentians. Enjoyed seeing other large lakes and camping with you! Feel warm and cozy by the campfires with you Thanks again for CANADIAN wilderness content xoxo
Thank you Jon nice to see you back in your “element “! And thank you for the eagle, the bear, the moose, the playful otters, and on and on! It is beautiful to experience Mother Nature through your lens! Blessings
From @26:10 on … I could watch over and over and over again. Most beautiful scenery ever, so peaceful and serene. Spectacular footage and great editing! And love seeing the beautiful, shiny black bear and all the moose. Thank you❣️
So glad your knee is healing well. I hope you know how important you are to us viewers. We all can’t do what you do nor should we as there would be no wild earth left. Thank you for what you do. Beautiful photography
Jon. I've been having a pretty s**t time with work lately. I'm in a job that I absolutely love, I've been very lucky to have this as a career for 9 years. But lately I have been feeling down (bad boss you know?). Watching your videos, both new and old, have really been cheering me up. I'm so happy to see you back in a boat! Just know we all love your content for various reasons and it means a lot to us!
I just got home the hospital(work) and, was checking utube for news of the day. My eyes popped out of my head to see you and your boat. It was like omg this bday/month just keeps improving by the day. It is so great to see you back paddling and, im sure it must have felt even better. So happy to see back doing what you love and, really great to get tag along. Keep up the awesome work. Remember moderate strenous stuff and, ice it...for that matter in your neighborhood you could put the platypus water bag on it.
Awesome! I was just watching your 200 km solo trip for the fourth time I think lol so it was a real treat to see this pop up! I,m looking to do a multi day canoe trip this summer. And I have to say Jon that you are huge reason for me wanting to do this. Your love of nature and it's preservation is contagious. Thank you. Dean
@@LostLakes I'm sure I will! I will be sure to let you know how it goes. I've been bicycle tripping for years now I,m just going to be replacing the bike with a canoe! Cheers
Yeah Jon!!!!!!!! So thrilled to see you back in your canoe! Best thing that's been on my TV in a while now! You look like you are getting around well. Proud of you for taking your time and not pushing it after surgery!
Welcome back, Jon. We've been concerned about you and are so happy to see you back. We went into withdrawal while you were gone and it got so bad we were forced to watch Xander videos. It was awful! 😅 God bless you, Jon. Treasure every moment...
Thank you, Jon. It's good to see you back in the saddle. I've watched the majority of your videos and like this one the best. I love the zen and the chill activity.
It is often said that you don't know what you miss until it's gone. That's the case with you and your channel Jon. So very happy to see you back out there once more, living the life you so obviously were born to live. Welcome back buddy!!!🤩❤
As a fellow "man of mangled meniscus" I say good on you for taking it slow. Take care and be easy on it, let yourself heal. But glad you are getting out doing what you love.
Soooo good to have you back...loving the wildlife and the way your lens captures it all . All the natural world. Good to see how happy and relaxed you are. Also very glad you're on the mend.😊 take care 🙂
Welcome back Jon. Lovely to see you out and about even tho it's slow and steady. Baby steps wouldn't want any extra damage to.your knee. Congrats on your recovering👍
Good to see you getting better and out and about. Wow what a beautiful video that was amazing evening sky God gives us such beauty enjoy it and hold it tight. 🙏🙏
So happy for you Jon to be out doing what you love and have missed. Such beautiful photography love your perspective👏thanks for another wonderful video and can’t wait to see you and Erin together in the next have missed seeing you together❤
Watching you come through the South channel. It just amazes me how you can know where your headed and not get lost. How you notice things and know where you are and where you need to head to. It's just amazing. Look forward to your next trip
Yay, glad you were able to get out for a paddle. That will no doubt help your recovery, at least mentally, more than anything. Have a great time on your next outing with your guardian angel 😁
Great to have you back young elf. And you haven't put on a pound in weight for all you've been sat around eating chocolate and being doted on by Erin.🤣 You haven't lost the knack for excellent cinematography, all the best for a continuing recovery and many more trips.
Amazing how much more wildlife you encounter while hugging the shoreline and exploring nooks and crannies! "Journey" trumps "Destination" every time. Cheers!
Hey John, long time subscriber from SE USA. Just want to say that you're very lucky to be able to be so picky about campsites. We have very few options for trips like you do within reasonable driving distance. I love to live vicariously through you on these trips! Thank you for your dedication to take us all along with you.
Praise God you are feeling better after major knee surgery. Your videos are absolutely amazing and beautiful the way you capture the beautiful scenery and the animals being in nature. 🎣🌲🌳⛺️🏕😊💕
I too am at home, recovering from surgery. I was so happy to have this video to take me away. I’m ready to get back out too. Maybe mid July. Thanks for the video!! Glad you’re back out!!
Blew out my right knee in my twenties, completely sympathetic with your situation. After a series of horrible storms down here in MS (5 + days of tornadic winds, tons of rain etc etc- never in my 60 + years seen anything like this) we’ve been without power for 5 days, and this popped up on my feed and is the perfect way to try to relax and get chill with you. Shared your vids with my eldest son who is an avid fisherman himself- we both love your vibe. Hope you heal completely and swiftly🥰❤️ Peace and good reads to you and Erin!
Communing with Creator over His Glorius Creation, for me. Camping zen seems to non descriptive for me. 🙂 So glad your recovery going well! Joyful you are back doing what you love! You were missed. Best nature vlog experience on YT 🤩 Thank you! Prayers for Gods Blessings on all your endeavors! 🙏🕊
Excellent 👍 Your videography and editing keeps getting better with each episode. Awesome tip on not letting your filter freeze. Love that shot of your shadow on the rocks as you were paddling 👍😎👍
YAY! Welcome back to the wild Jon! What an amazing day with both a bear and a moose. Followed by a walleye shore lunch. How can it get any better? Momma and calf moose were so cute. So glad you had a wonderful stress-free trip to share with us. Keep that knee healing. :)
My favourite type of canoe voyage - base camping, fishing, exploring and NO portaging. I used to canoe with a group of non fishermen and always heard "Keep paddling, No fishing! I didn't mind portaging, and was quite fast. But now that I'm Old, I'm half-fast😀
So many kids grew up in Canada learning the loon, wolf, bullfrogs and other assorted beings. Something so ancient in the call of the wild answering back. Thanks for taking us along.
Good to see you back. Recovering from injuries can have a way of slowing things down and letting us see life at a different speed. Take things easy, just remember, it was a repair, not a cure. It's what made me get a Canoe Cart, and that allowed me a whole new world of opportunities. Just a note; some of those campsites have been in use for thousands of years. I always made a point of scouring the ground before I set up camp. There's nothing more exciting than when you find your first Arrowhead or Stone Axe. Check the waterline too. I'm midway through the video, so back to the show...safe travels & happy paddling.
Great to see you on the water again! It must have felt good to be back in the hammock. Also nice to see all the critters come out to welcome you back. Except for that beaver at the first campsite - he seemed to be giving you the stink-eye. "Hey, dude, you're on my spot!" 😂
Awesome to see you back! I have an ACL surgery in a few weeks..I can't wait to get this over with and recovered fully so I may start hiking again. Knee injuries are no joke..glad to see you coming back to do what you love despite a pretty significant injury!
Another fabulous film, showcasing your reverence for nature and the creatures that inhabit the area. The forest is a better place with you exploring it as you do, Jon. Welcome back 🙏
Great video! So glad to see you back. Your attention to detail and the beautiful scenery and wildlife that you capture are a consistent pleasure to watch. Thanks as always for bringing us along and sharing your passion. Nice to know that you are striking a good balance between still doing what you love but also being smart and taking care of that knee. Don't rush it. We will still be here to enjoy whatever video you choose to do, regardless.
Buddy, so glad to see you out on the water again. I am still waiting for a fix on my herniated discs in my neck from first trip. At least I am not making my living from tripping. Again, so nice to see you out and inspiring us all! Take good care, Jon.
Great to see you back! As a 1980 & 2007 meniscus operation patient constant training to maintain balance in strength and gait is really important. Keep working on flexibility and strength.
So happy to see this video, Looked at my list and saw your name and was just thrilled for you. Be so very blessed and have an absolutely wonderful time. Can't wait to watch the whole video. I'm not kidding Jonathan. I was thrilled to see a video from you and I know everybody elses too. God bless you on your journey❤
Fantastic cinematography and what a gem of a lake! The perfect way to ease back into canoe tripping. Thank you as always for sharing your journeys with the world. It’s good to have you back.
Oh man, i needed this to slow the world down a bit, at least temporarily. Know, you've been missed. I enjoy the wit, the intelect, the incredible photography, and the fact that you're a man of conscience, rare these days in a world gone mad. I'll be off and gone myself next month, where A.I. won't be able to find me har har
Havent watched yet; just wanted to come down here and give my thanks for yet another movie of your travels, Jon. Especially given the context regarding your knee (also very impressed that you're already out and about), I am extra grateful for this one. Hope the knee is healing well! Take care
Glad to see you back out there. This was so worth the wait. Most amazing scenery and wildlife footage and the way you capture it is breathtaking. Only thing missing was Erin. Can’t wait for next adventure. 😘
The incredible scenery and your amazing photography had my stress just melting away. And the night sky was breathtaking. So happy you're back out on the water.
The little moose calf was adorable and I loved the hippo howling at the moon. “This water is paralyzing”lol! Funny, but not funny. Glad your safe! Thanks for sharing.
So glad to see you posted! Welcome back, you were extremely missed! Glad to see you’re healing well! Here’s to a great continued recovery for you! And hope Erin is doing well too! 😊❤ much love from Virginia.
Glad you're back. Not having your winter camps to listen to as I fall asleep took some getting used to. But that isn't important. Glad to hear you've had the surgery and seem to be on the mend. Can't wait for more videos. Don't push to hard and enjoy your spring/summer in the great outdoors!
Nice to see that mental energy coming back from spending time from nature. You're doing a great job of recognizing what your body can handle and then finding manageable trips to get out there and rejoin what you love. Looking forward to seeing the trip with you and Erin. A nice way to close a chapter after she had to pull you out the last time. :)
So great to see you back in the groove BUT also erring on the side of caution. Your birdie friend at 29:30 is a Swainson’s Thrush. Since I’ll probably never see a Loon in real life, I’m always grateful you take the time to include them in your videography. Be well and be safe!
I am so so so glad to see this! Not because I've been missing the content (ok I have) but this means you are well into your recovery and I'm glad to see you out enjoying what you love so much!
So glad to see you back Jon! Last Sunday i was thinking, I need a Lost Lakes Fix, and two days later, here You are. Thank You. Your videography is the best out there in utube land. Cant wait to see your next video with Erin. Take care of the knee and God bless.
It was so good to see you out doing what you love and the wildlife definitely came out to welcome you back, looking forward to watching your next video ❤
Great to see you out in the wilds again after your knee surgery and for taking us along on the journey. Bonanza of wildlife on the May long weekend and excellent weather for paddling and stargazing! The little brown bird in camp was most likely a Swainson's Thrush with that big eye ring. Cool to see and hear the little black-headed Bonaparte's Gulls so close to shore too. Zen for all and all for zen : )

Definite stink eye...hostile vibe that night. Lol thanks Gord :)
So great to see you back enjoying the outdoors and showcasing your beautiful countryside and wonderful wildlife. Looking forward to your next vid.
Awesome to see you back! I have an ACL surgery in a few weeks..I can't wait to get this over with and recovered fully so I may start hiking again. Knee injuries are no joke..glad to see you coming back to do what you love despite a pretty significant injury!
I'm so glad you're back and your knee is better. Beautiful video as usual Jon.
Glad you are getting healed up - miss your videos! Keep healing!
Jon, so happy to have you back happy and healthy. It’s been a long but worthwhile wait. Another slam dunk video. You’ve made my day once again. 🎉
Thank you my friend :)
Thanks so much Teri 💚
So glad to see you back chap don't let the injury define you let it go and move on be aware be careful and be wise , love from blighty x.
Thanks so much Antony :) Enjoy your escape!
Nice to see you back in your element John. Looking forward to seeing you and Erin camping together!
Welcome back! Really excited to see more of your content. Its so nice to experience the woods and lakes vicariously through your videos.
Glad to see you back where you are most at home and not pushing that knee too hard. Good for you, enjoyed the video as always.
Congrats on “Back at it!” So glad to have you back Jon!
This is one of the most beautiful videos you've ever done oh, I'm so glad you're back thanks for all the beautiful video work
Thanks so much Shawn
Nice to see that mental energy coming back from spending time from nature. You're doing a great job of recognizing what your body can handle and then finding manageable trips to get out there and rejoin what you love. Looking forward to seeing the trip with you and Erin. A nice way to close a chapter after she had to pull you out the last time. :)
Welcome back Brother 🎉 was so happy to hear you are healing well and back at making video's 🤗 looking forward to seeing your next adventure 🤗
Jon, I think your B-roll is some of the best footage on UA-cam. You really have an eye for capturing the subtile details of a canoe trip.
Really appreciate that Chris
Like rain after drought. Best hour of screen time I’ve had in a long time.
So glad to see you back Jon! Last Sunday i was thinking, I need a Lost Lakes Fix, and two days later, here You are. Thank You. Your videography is the best out there in utube land. Cant wait to see your next video with Erin. Take care of the knee and God bless.
Thanks so much Greg
Missed you. Welcome back!😊 Hope you and Erin have a wonderful summer out paddling the wilds. We’ll be watching!
Some of your best wildlife footage ever. Thanks for taking us along!
Wow, Have been watching your videos for a while now and this one definitely sets the bar higher, Amazing production quality❤
Thank you!
