Como español creo bastante acertados los puntos. Los españoles somos muy autocríticos como sociedad, nos percibimos peor de lo que somos. Por eso la mayoría considera que no tiene un nivel bueno de inglés . En cierto modo es el carácter mediterráneo que compartimos con italianos o griegos. No es que no tengamos sentido de urgencia, o que seamos despreocupados , es que no nos angustiamos , no nos preocupamos por la opinión de otros tanto y sabemos distinguir trabajo y ocio
Como guiri que vive en España desde hace dos décadas, sigo escuchando “¡esto solo pasa en España!” cuando no es así, refiriéndose a cosas malas (crimen, corrupción). Los españoles no son conscientes de lo bien que viven en comparación con la mayoría de los países europeos. No se trata de ganar los salarios de los países escandinavos, sino de lo que se puede comprar con un salario medio y la calidad de vida asociada. Hay también gente que trabaja extremadamente duro, pero se trata especialmente de gente que trabaja sin contrato. Estos siempre tienen prisa, echan horas como locos.

And I don't mean, 3 or 4 in the morning, 10 or 11 pm, it didn't felt that much alive. Mind you, I only was in Manhattan, maybe it's different in other areas of the city.

Hey! Spain is pretty big and pretty different, I'm Catalan, from Barcelona. We do stress, we take more than one job sometimes and we tend to combine studies nd work. But, what we do value is having some time with friends, share some quality time with other people and we like to find some time here and there. Like thr Italian saying: "Dolce far niete" we like to find somr time to relax. The kissing in public is right. Now, the talking louder thing, is a Mediterranean thing too, Italians, Greeks, etc. are pretty loud too. The greeting kisses are right. Not everyone is that touchy, I'm not like that for instance. I'm not a big fan of clubs, is a big thing in Catalonia too. My kind of party is "festa major" the festivals from different towns during summer and winter too. Those partying ours are pretty accurate, I'm 29 now, since I was 16 until I was 19 I did go to clubs a lot. We do work to live, that's what I meant before, we might have multiple jobs and we might combine it with studies, but we value quality time like I said. Now I'm living in an appartement, though I used to live in a house and we had that kind of fences, we had or privacy. And yes, guys are more approachable. The staring is right, and we have the tourist radar too. And I do have a good English level, my mom doesn't. And even if I'm trying my best to use American vocabulary and spelling, my English both on writing and speaking is mostly British.

Yes in Spain it is generally slower pace, generally it's a great way to live but it can drive you nuts when something you need to do has a due date. We joke that yes they said it will be done by Wednesday they just didn't tell us which Wednesday. Love Spain

All that stuff about Spaniards not having a sense of urgency, never being in a hurry is sheer nonsense. In Spain there is as much anxiety and competition as everywhere else. It's you guys who are on vacation and are more relaxed and not in a hurry, and you project that on society. Those "culture shocks" are just prejudice and stereotypes. Yes, you can find a bit of each of those things she mentions... in Spain and everywhere. But of course if come to Spain expecting to find all those things, you surely will find them, and with your selective perception you will persuade yourself that's all there is to Spain. I've lived in the US many years and, as a Spaniard, I haven't found such striking differences. Maybe your comparison with N.Y. (big city to big city) is more reasonable.
No nos lo tomamos con calma, simplemente nos gusta hacer las cosas bien, muchas veces hacerlo bien esta reñido con hacerlo rápido, nosotros venimos de culturas milenarias y eso de socializar y tomarse la vida con calma quiza venga desde el Imperio Romano.
Si a veces hay que hacerlo rápido, al menos yo los trabajos y la vida trato de hacerlo bien antes que rápido.
Ahora entiendo porque este del Video no Recomienda que una familia pueda ocupar la calle en EEUU o en otros países, aquí si es Normal gente que va de paseo toda la familia o con amigos y ocupar la calle.
