    85k part exchange seems good? As that is more the private sale price for a great spec ?
    Unless dealer is doing you a favour with part ex ?

      Yeah, I was pretty content. It seemed fair from a dealer, I might have got a few K more if I managed to sell private and could wait. Either they (the dealer) came down £5k on the sale price of the 720S or they went up £5k on the part-ex for my 570GT (or met somewhere in the middle). They had some wiggle room as they already had a buyer for the 570GT and it was in perfect condition having just been green stamped by Thorney.

      @@graemefinlayson was a great watch of someone actually using the 570 in the UK
      Bought it for very much same reasons as you - 570s and use it as my daily. 2017 ~16k miles when bought. So one with the gremlins sorted. Mclaren PPI done on purchase. I am actually self warrantying and bought privately :) , 4 months in no mechanical issues. And there are a number of good independents for Mclaren Thorney included so that was my reason - buying right car mechanically + if something does go wrong go to the independent to fix
      Ironically I actually have the same issue as you with a Mclaren dealer PPI that the dealer failed to pick up 1 spot of corrosion on nearside rear upper panel. Also ironically this panel had already been replaced by the previous owner under warranty (so bodyshop work has gone wrong ~1y later). Similar but slightly different case to you. They initially told me they will do nothing speaking with mclaren aftersales team of the dealership who did the PPI. I then threatened to take them to small claims court and now awaiting another response after they want to look at it again haha. No way am I backing down. Was a bit surprised you ended up just taking the bill on that, although I guess my situation has the additional thing of it being an already replaced panel going wrong again 1y later. Doubly unacceptable. Will happily take them to small claims court as I do believe that should be covered. If it is just the 1 spot as all I can see, that would only be like a 3-4k bill for them all in? given yours was 5 separate places/multiple panels at 6k+vat?

      @@dng992 Yep, sounds very similar. I fought back and forth with Mclaren but they would not budge on the paint corrosion issue. From what I gathered, they were happily sorting them all, in/out of the 5 years, but then it became a known/famous issue. So many 570 owners found the issue, big and small, so everyone and their dog started claiming. At that point Mclaren changed stance, stood firm and now only deal with those strictly within the warranty window.
      But if yours was replaced within warranty and it's gone again within 12 months, that sounds like proper grounds to get it done again. It's a shame they take this stance, they're souring the rep of what is an amazing set of cars.
      I just figured it would be more in lawyer money to get it sorted so just got it done. Have to be honest, the initial quote was probably half of what it ended up being, but it was quoted remotely with photos/etc I took and I didn't manage to find it all. Furthermore, it's the owner call as to what level of bodyshop you get the work done at, I've seen some done for £1k/panel that is just about acceptable. Shop around!

      @@dng992 It came to just over £8k for the paintwork via Thorney. That was the only sour note (the corrosion and McLaren not doing anything about it) in an otherwise fantastic year of motoring.

    Out of interest, what phone holder did you use in the 570? I saw you did a video for the 720.

      Was a simple magnetic circle one again, sticky base. All of about £5 on eBay and worked perfectly 😀

    During the presentation kept watching the right hand side of windshield. Looks like a glass defect as kept showing a vertical distortion. Always in the same place on the glass, not any other place. Video artifact?

      @racedandrallied  4 місяці тому

      Just a relfection from the dashboard/tweeter at that particular angle I think. The windshield had no distortions.
