Fantastic reviewer I have to say! Was very suspicious initially thinking it might be a cheesy review but its quite the opposite! Informative, technical and very eloquent! :)
Great review. And I respect your findings and opinion. It should be said the McLaren is the choice for "driving" but not necessarily for "owning". Other reviewers talk about how horrible the electronics are on the 570S/GT. 2 reviews said the car didn't recognize the key and wouldn't start. Another said the car locked him out. That kind of stuff grows tiresome during ownership. And I have a friend who has an R8 and has to have the transmission nearly rebuilt ever 5k miles. That's insane. The Porsche Turbo has worked all those kinds of kinks out already and still is only slightly less fun to drive/exciting and still runs as fast as those two and many others. And yet it is polished enough in every way to live with every day. Maybe in time the others get there, but the Porsche is already there.
Porsche is expansive but not expansive to maintain and it's saves fuel ⛽️ Plus the parts are not very expansive like the mclareen and the Audi Porsche's are made to last
If you're talking about driving and nothing else I agree, but some people buy these to use regularly, even on a daily basis and if you do there is only one winner. The PORSCHE!
The R8 is a good car but you might as well get a Huracan since thats a better car. The McLaren is very good but it doesn't feel like an advancement on the development. Still very good though. Plus McLaren reliability has been atrocious so far -- granted half-expected as they grow out from the teething process of starting a road car company. Don't trust Audi reliability much either. Sensible money and practicality remains with the Turbo S. Its a turn-key car I can park anywhere and not worry about always generating prying eyes and vandals/thieves. More usable space, top reliability, better dealer network, infinite independent shops, etc. All three cars are amazing, but I think some of these reviewers assume every potential owner has 9 cars when thats not the case. Hello Matt! Great review dude! Daily driven capability 570GT practicality vs super comfy super easy super sleek V10 R8 vs almighty Turbo S... What tuff choices after all which one would you pick for you mate? Everyone wishes that we all could afford every three but to me Porsche is the one for my dream ride for me for all my life. So yeah I think I would choose Turbo S. Hey I was wondering when you are going to make Piston Head logo shirts? Because the logo is so cool and I think you should start making them for sale! I'm agreeing with you buddy, you just don't seem to realise that the Turbo S is literally £5000 more at base price than the 570S - so if you want a more 'supercar' like experience - the 570S is the cheaper, more fun alternative.
some of the car volggers do an excellent job of reviewing cars as someonw who might buy or own would see things not rubbish not the ones i watch. Saying that this is an excellent review indepth and right on . The turbo s never really excites even with the capabilities. The trouble with the Porsche and audi they are mass produced some don't want that
Allen Saunders I agree. I had my 570s for a year now and it is still a real joy to drive. It is an occasion and something special. I met a lot of strangers through this car. I doubt I would have that experience in a Porsche or Audi. Perhaps a 918...
I guess you didn't consider reliability in your analysis. I have heard from various sources that McLarens are rather horrendous for reliability. Why not broach this subject??
You are confusing McLaren Road cars with McLaren/Honda F1 cars ;) Reliability is getting better every year which is what you would expect for a 'new' company, other than a few electronic niggles i understand that the latest cars are extremely reliable and bulletproof even if you use them at the track.
Terry Forth I've had my 570s for a year now and haven't had any issues. I don't daily drive it but I do take it to work and enjoy nice weekends. I too have heard lots of complaints, usually the people who are upset are the loudest. Not as many people who are happy or satisfied with their purchase on sites praising it in comparison. My two cents.
Every car will have problems eventually. I own 570gt and everything still great. But if we talking about reliability check out ferrari tons of problems. Two my friends a 458 and 488 selling theirs cause of all the problems
I don't know man, McLarens suck in electronics, reliability and if the car doesn't work is hard to enjoy it! Might as well find something at a much lower price, pump the power up and it will be a better buy at this point.
@@andrewnorris5415 The new R8 outperforms its predecessor. It also sounds better. So, how do you mean the old R8 is better? Downplaying horsepower is only used for comparative reasons. Say car "X" has 350 hp but it is downplayed to 250. If you then compare it to car "Y" which has 300 horsepower, you put your car in a win win scenario. Since if car X loses you can say "oh well it had less power, its normal", if car X wins "wow it beat car Y despite having less horsepower". Porsche have been playing this game for a while now with their most recent models. Turbo S has way more than 580 horsepower and the 918 in hotlap mode has WAY more than the indicated 887hp.
But its handling and feedback are not up there with the 570gt As with others Audis. Yes it has more power, but this model has too much for the road. And when get to the track the steering, handling and extra weight, and lack of feedback will make it not as fun as the 570gt.

McLaren, interior almost looks cheap. Not worthy of it's $$ from what I see, and know of the car. I'll take the 911 Turbo S or Audi, though I know I may make a better entrance in the McLaren. It's exterior looks great. But you don't live inside of it. LOL Think, the Porsche Turbo S resale will be better as well, from what I'm hearing about the lower McLarens resale. Nonetheless; all nice cars.
Mclaren looks too wanna be boy racer and the headlights reminds me too much of McDonald’s Golden Arches, plus reliability reviews just doesn’t really help the reputation. I’d be equally happy to take the Audi or the Porsche
hmm, which one should I pick ? oh wait I got 3 of them. 911 turbo s - very good daily driving car, no one care to look at you. launching this car reminds me of my vacuum that is used to clean the house, My STHL Leaf Blower sounds better and louder lol. faster than the Audi R8 after 2018s, no reason why the 2018 Audi R8 v10 plus drop from 610 horse power to 602 horse power. hopefully 2019 they will upgrade the interior that looks like the current 2018 Panamera , and maybe likely to add e-hybrid to it. If you like pure sound + a little better on the price, I recommend go for Audi R8 v 10 plus. this car does not hold its value good so pick your option wisely. audi r8 v10 plus - wake your neighbour kids up for school, scare your cat while taking a dumb, piss of your wife , everyday early in the morning.allow people to crash into post while looking at you. too much attention but not as much as Lamborghini, or Ferrari. pure v10 sound. in my opinion its a good sport car to buy if you would not wish for a large amount money to stuck in a sport car. if you don't care go for a huracan performante. interior is very comfortable, this car can be driven in 2 condition, comfort + B & O speaker to the max. or dynamic with windows down or up. I recommend for you to get a highway patrol detector as for this car will always makes you want to floor it. I wish they can have a front camera mount for parking because the sensor is horrible. and hopefully they can have a front face lift incase of encountering a bump. pretty nice price friendly sport car that will makes you feel like a guy that gets people attention, everyone will be wondering what are you doing for living. but if you are young Chinese dude, well of course " he got his money from his papa" mclaren 570s - good for you. low horse power? no worries it is very light weight. as long as you know how to launch this shit, for sure turbo s and r8 v10 doesn't stand a chance. what is the purpose of this car? I really don't know, why I bought it ? because everyone has it. so what. do with this car. hmm I love to park it at Starbuck and watch people watching my car. just be careful of driving this car during raining slippery condition, its rear wheel drive. if you have extra cash I recommend go for the 720s. all 3 car have different personality and feeling. which one is better? hmm are all good, it depends on what you really want. 3 of these care does not hold its value. unless maybe r8 will, if they decide not to produce v10 engine anymore after 2019 and changed to twin turbo v6s. the v10, v12 & v16 always sounds best. maintenance cost wise for these 3 cars I think its still consider as friendly. insurance is cheap. gas is not bad even though its 91. If you are young, and don't have at-least 1 mil in bank please do not try to own these car in exchange for other people's feeling, attention and thought. its not worth it. doesn't matter if you lease, finance or buy out. take your time to work your way out. sometimes just sitting at home and enjoy other people driving it on youtube is not bad. now a days sport, exotic cars tend to produce faster and faster, technology keeps getting better. the value of these car does not hold as good as the back in the days sport cars. these cars are like a expensive toy and hobby. yes you might want to show off but you will always be constantly worrying about someone scratching your car while parked somewhere outside.
Mac has better ride. And yes it does weigh less, and this not only makes a difference to speed - but also to the handling. Esp, when combined with the hydraulic steering and well sorted suspension that copes much better on your average B road. The mac is the daily driver for me.
But personally I think you should sell the R8 and the 570gt - and get a 720. Keep the turbo s for when don't want to be looked at when going shopping :)
Says a German? Worth noting the UK loves German cars. We import more than anyone. More than China and the US. This really is a good car. Brits are very self depreciating.Other people agree this is a great car. Allow us some credit please. Same with the 720s.

A Great & Fair Analysis !!! EXCELLENT VIDEO !!!
Great review, however the McLaren is more than slightly lighter than the Porsche, its 500Kg lighter !
991.2 Turbo S 3682lb -> 1670kg
570GT 3200lb -> 1451kg
Looks to be 200kg not 500kg ... you're off by a factor of 2.5x ...
Very Accurate Review~!!! Thank you
Easy fixes for R8, skip the Dynamic steering and order the power seats. 😉
I’ll give you an 8 for the review because you should always have a drag race at the end , that’s what everyone always want to see.
After all he other reviews of the 570GT the conclusion was inevitable. For that kind of money it has the right sense of occasion.
The R8 is a good car but you might as well get a Huracan since thats a better car.

It is hard to believe that the McLaren is so much composed than the R8. That MR suspension on the Audi is crazy good!!
Lower car weight and fine tuning / good design makes it better than a more complex system. The 720s has taken it to new levels too.

Sidhant Megh9 Probably because drag races are completely irrelevant when it comes to which car is best to drive.
V10 hands down. Not even a question. Wish you could get the old gated shifter with R8 though. That McLaren sounds dreadful. Audi sounds amazing

audi r8 v10 plus - wake your neighbour kids up for school, scare your cat while taking a dumb, piss of your wife , everyday early in the morning.allow people to crash into post while looking at you. too much attention but not as much as Lamborghini, or Ferrari. pure v10 sound. in my opinion its a good sport car to buy if you would not wish for a large amount money to stuck in a sport car. if you don't care go for a huracan performante. interior is very comfortable, this car can be driven in 2 condition, comfort + B & O speaker to the max. or dynamic with windows down or up. I recommend for you to get a highway patrol detector as for this car will always makes you want to floor it. I wish they can have a front camera mount for parking because the sensor is horrible. and hopefully they can have a front face lift incase of encountering a bump. pretty nice price friendly sport car that will makes you feel like a guy that gets people attention, everyone will be wondering what are you doing for living. but if you are young Chinese dude, well of course " he got his money from his papa"
mclaren 570s - good for you. low horse power? no worries it is very light weight. as long as you know how to launch this shit, for sure turbo s and r8 v10 doesn't stand a chance. what is the purpose of this car?
570gt !!!!!!!!
Why do I get the feeling that in 20 yrs the 911 will be going strong and the other 2 will be horrendously unreliable/expensive to own?
surprise no NSX in this test
Blake Swan I'm not nobody wants an NSX over these three. It's ridiculously over priced, there's a reason you can find 100 on Cargurus
THIS IS OLD HAT NOW THEY MUST TRY THEM SELVES OUT ON 720S NOW THE NEW ROCKET ON THE BLOCK.
Snore,snore...zzzzzzzzzz!👀🏁
can i have your job?
It just distrubs me that he is sitting and driving on the WRONG SIDE! ^^
Tesla Roadster is the best for the money.
McLaren everytime. Why?? Answer: Carbonfiber Tub
Basicly ginger bollocks just wanted 3 fast cars for the weekend, as they have all been tested before..!!
That biased brits are getting more and more laughable
Says a German? Worth noting the UK loves German cars. We import more than anyone. More than China and the US. This really is a good car. Brits are very self depreciating.Other people agree this is a great car. Allow us some credit please. Same with the 720s.
Every car on Earth is a worthless golf cart compared to a Porsche. PERIOD. Always has been, always will be.
I never liked the looks of the 911 cars. They all look like toads, in my opinion. But they are great machines.
Boring
