"I didn't say it was a smart idea, I said that is what I did." I could describe most of my life with this phrase...
"I get it" "I get it"....I wish everyone got it like he did. But you know, everyone's "smarter" than Clint. lol In the gun world, everyone's smarter than the next guy!
Words of wisdom that can be universally applied
That's was an epic statement from him. 👍
I get it. Good or bad, how can he tell others the best way to use "tool X" if he has never used tool X.
James always looks like a happy kid looking at his grampa telling war stories when Clint is talking.
As we all would be in Clint’s presence
Damn well better be. Haha
We all are
Anytime I watch a CS video, I literally have the exact same expression on my face as well. Clint is the man! Gun shorts is cool too I guess.
Jk, freakin' love you too James
I think every one of us would be the exact same.
Dude has two priceless Colts with HIS NAME as the serial number. WHAT A FLEX
Tactical booty shorts man + Man literally too angry to die
A good combo
Don't mess with a dude who says his "high school had rice paddies, no big deal"
Bit over the top and off the nose. Shit like that gets old
@Invalid Characters Yes it is.
@@ViktoriousDead I think getting shot in Vietnam gives him a blank check for referencing his service
@@ViktoriousDead how about you just go and, uh, I don't know, shut the hell up?
@@ViktoriousDead Tell us your war stories fool
Those wheelguns are beautiful...
Would love to see you review a wheel gun. Perhaps I've missed them? Either way, love your work by teaching us about firearms and armor, helping neighbors in trouble, and all things liberty. Stay frosty and I look forward to seeing you in the next video😎
I love how you always watch other videos too.
LOVE the 45 colts
I have a couple in my collection. They're really smoothe on firing and tend to NEVER jam. I've not once had to stop to clear one. Although hard to carry, solid defense if you can put it in a spot for easy access. 9/10
I catch you on every good channel. I enhoyed your blackout series
"They WILL be on fire."
Can't even be mad dying in style from Clint.
"Give a man fire and you keep him warm for a day. Light a man on fire and you keep him warm for the rest of his life."
@@cristianespinal9917 That has always been my favorite version of that verse.
And how did you identify the asailent, his shirt was burned off!
Listening to Clint talk makes me think of listening to my grandpa telling me about his deployment to Europe in 1944. Grandpa just turned 94 a couple weeks ago and he's still going strong.
A real man, bless his soul!!!!!
Both my grandpa's were in the pacific.
One carried a BAR.
The other one was in the Navy.
Very lucky to have him around. I lost one in the 1991 and my other grandpa in 2011.
He reminds me of a neighbor who I talk to frequently. He served in Vietnam.
Deployed at 15 huh.
Get a tape recorder and write that story down!
Never would have expected Clint to have a sharps. Very cool.
Agreed. Solid choice for a black powder carbine. Good fire rate, accuracy, easy to clean...
Not surprised about any of his favorites. My choices would be similar. Do I have better tools to use? Sure. But these are my favorite. I carry a Glock but I like my 1911 more.
I'd be surprised if he doesn't have a pair :-]
Thunder ranch has a black powder class, I’m glad he has a sharps.
Check out the thunder ranch video "it ain't for sissies"
"They're cheap, they're ugly as hell...and they work." Best glock description I've heard
I have described them very similarly to young folks just learning about gun.
Not only work, but work well! Cool to see James inspire this legend enough to pick some up.
Cheap?
Glocks may have been cheap once upon a time lol
@@staffsaber534 Compared to guns that work, they are cheap.
Clint's voice in a dark room has the same affect on people/criminals as if a shotgun was cocked.
^this
Imagine Clint having training conversations with Pat Mcnamara.
"Nothing personal, kid."
*revolver clicks*
Clint’s voice sounds a lot better than a few months ago. Not sure what that was about (health issues?), but it was painful to listen to him talk. He sounds a lot better, but still a bit rough than he did a year or so ago. At least he seems to be sounding better now. He always has great stories to tell.
The shotgun thing.. a myth, Clints voice, definetly not a myth.
"The 6.5 what the hell." Clint
"Possession doesn't equate to competency." That's going to hurt a lot of people's egos but it's the most important quote in this video. The world needs more Clints.
My first firearms training was with Clint at Thunder Ranch Texas. It was actually my bachelor party as well and the best man was with me. I have since taken multiple classes both rifle and pistol and I still think I learned the most from Clint and his wonderful staff and wife. It also spoiled the hell out of me in terms of training since I started with the best. If you train then you need to train with Clint.
It's cool to see James cheesing over hanging out with his hero.
Yeah you know there is a lot of love there to go with the respect.
" i didn't say it was smart." i think the whole house heard me laugh. beautiful guns.
Son, now that you have reached manhood, it is time for you to take the family axe. This axe has been in our family for 4 hundred years. It was purchased in London before we sailed for America. With this axe, your ancestors have fallen many trees, and built many homes. This is our most treasured possession.
Wow dad, it looks brand new!
Yes, we keep it looking that way. I myself have replaced the head twice, and the handle 5 times.
Its the use of the tool, and the idea behind it that matters the most.
Jay Roberts please re-read what I wrote. I think 🤔 you kinda missed it.
Sharps? A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
"You ARE a bold one!"
@@junior4900 because of Obi-wan?
hell yeah, every word that falls out of Clints mouth is a teaching moment. Kudos to you James, for giving him the respect he deserves.
"I didn't say it was smart, I said that's what I did." True words!
...And a good point as well. A smart man adjusts his tactics to how his tools are best used. HE carried that for 6 months, which means a thorough exploration of how to apply that tool.
i would love to see Clint react to someone saying "i shoot my guns a lot, really." i bet he would be like "oh do you really? i got a 1911 whose only original part left is the frame and even that bitch is cracked!"
The mentor/pupil relationship between Clint and James is always very cool to watch. James, there's no doubt in my mind you will always remember these conversations (especially when he says hilarious shit) even when you're Clint's age.
Who else wants a book of Clint sayings. “Clint’isms”
"6.5 whatever the hell"
I do! The man is awesome and entertaining as hell.
THAT would sell.
Thank you for showing this living legend the respect he has earned while bringing him to us. The way you respect him makes me respect you.
100% agree with you. I like James’ videos but the way he shows deference to Mr. Smith makes me like him all the more. Shows that he has proper character.
Clint talking about his M-14. I was in The US Army at the same time frame. Trained with the M-14 and the M-14 was my issued weapon in Vietnam along with a .45 pistol. The M-14 was absolutely accurate with steel sights. Fantastic weapon with bayonet and using it effectively. A vertical butt stroke worked very well, too . The M-14 was Gold. Salute to Clint!!!
Do much bayonet fighting did you?
@@robertelder164 Hmmm, funny …trained to use it. Love to show you sometime:
@@24Mossberg yes, I was trained to use it also.
My question was did you ACTUALLY do it? If so, when and where?
@@robertelder164 No. not sure where you’re going with this. If you studied the use of the bayonet the last ‘charge’ use was probably the Korea War. Is it effective, yes, under the right circumstances and with the right weapon (M-14).
@@robertelder164 I guess you didn’t read my responses carefully enough. Never said I was on a bayonet charge or used it in combat. What’s you problem Robert?
Imagine breaking into a house and hearing "About to eat a shit sandwich, ain't ya bud?" Before taking a 520 grain lead slug from a Sharps rifle to the chest.
it would be an honor
And a river of black powder smoke easing you off to meet the fareiman.
Dude you've got a legend sitting there willing to talk with you. That's a big deal.
"And the third one is always spare parts."
Love it 🤣
My favorite line in the interview!!!!!
That Sharps rifle is one of the most beautiful works of functional art that I’ve ever seen. The man clearly has excellent taste. He has some really awesome 1911’s and revolvers too.
The no B.S. master for sure.
I really need to figure out how to afford getting out to Thunder Ranch. I don't want to just learn, but learn from a Legend.
Do it I promise U will not regret it
Clint Is : "THE MAN, THE MYTH & THE LEGEND" !!!
Who doesn’t love Clint! He is the freaking best!
Those Colts are beautiful!
When you carry them none of them can be too small, but when you're fighting with them none of them can be too big, or pretty close to that. Fantastic!!
If you ever find yourself, far enough down shit creek that you have to use your empty carry gun as a tomahawk. Let's pray it the big one you are carrying 😆
Just cannot imagine the Ruger LCP making the dent you want it to.
@@mot0rhe4d40
Love it very good point my Glock 43X wouldn't give me the dent I would want
@@johngolden9074 Upside to your particular pistol though. Shield arms makes an all metal mag that bumps your 43x up to 15+1. Been wanting one of the 43x or 48 for that very reason. 😉👍
@@mot0rhe4d40
The S15 Mags are a game changer I carry one in the gun and 1 with a plus 5 extension as a reload
@@johngolden9074 Truly a game changer. I was already interested in the 43X, before the Shield mags became available. Now I wonder why anyone would choose the G19 over the 43x with the Shield mags. Unless the G19 just felt better in the hand for them.
I had a 1967 chevelle ss 396 in high school. Man I miss that car!
Clint is someone I could listen to talk for hours. He is funny and spouts great amounts of wisdom. Keep it coming TFB!!
This is the best, most interesting top 5 TFB has ever done
Please give clint a pot of coffee and let him ramble on like grandpa Simpson. Pure gold
" 6.5 what the hell " thank you Clint!
I love how Clint - who James looks up to so much - has favorite guns that are all James’ least favorite 😂
Clint has my respect as someone who’s been “there” from someone else (me) who’s also been “there” & b/c I was a Navy Corpsman that served w/the Marines in Nam. Good video.
“I know what people say about me.” -Yeah, they say that you’re a living legend.
I'm old enough to have gotten to know Clint Smith by reading him in magazines. His writing paints a picture in one's mind of the man and now that we are in the age where nothing is left to the imagination I can say he has never failed to be the man I imagined he would be.
Clint "Angry Wisdom" Smith is such a legend
I’ve been patiently waiting for another Clint Smith interview, thanks TFB you guys are the bomb.
Can you imagine how badass this country would be if Clint was everybody’s grandpa and James was everybody’s uncle?
The world couldn’t afford the T-shirts !
Add a couple of tattoos……one says “Baby”…….the other one that just say “Hey”……
Where is the pen-15 on this list.
#69
That’s the Cali compliant model
Shot it off
In James' "tactical holster"
I really appreciate more Clint wisdom and just love the time with him. A National Treasure!
Love watching Clint! Dude’s a character.
Imagine the look of sheer terror a thief would have after trying to rob a “feeble old man” but then realizing its Clint smith with a brace of custom engraved colts with black powder loads
Thanks! What a wonderful interview with a man who is straight forward, honest and worth of respect. Very enjoyable and I would enjoy more from him.
OMG, shooting someone with a Colt SAA using black powder... Not only shot but also on fire!
I damn near fell out of my chair on that comment!
The James and Clint interviews are pure gold!
Clint is the best
Two points: Mr. Smith is so wonderful because he never tries to sell you something. He tells you what HE does and he tells you WHY he does it and leaves it up to you to make your own decision. Imagine how great our country could be if our leaders talked as straight as he does.
James is unlike 95 percent of the interviewers on paid TV who struggle to inject some comment that they think will make them look smart in the presence of the genius being interviewed. James is one of the few who knows his job is to facilitate the enjoyment of the guest, not to be on a par with the guest or a distraction.
Thanks to both of you!
I could listen to Clint all day if I could. Reminds me of my grandpa a ton.
Lots of solid info coming from the legend. That Sharps is something else!
I was laughing so hard when he said, "it has a crack in the frame and drill hole" referring to the 1911 😅 So many pansies these days that worry about scuffing a Glock Gen4 finish, and Clint Smith is holding his own with a .45 that has a cracked frame still running strong! Some of my generation could really do to learn a thing or two from this guy. Keep up the great work James, and hopefully one day soon I can take a trip to Thunder Ranch. Then I'll get some angry wisdom to add to my arsenal 😎
Everyone wants the newest, latest whatever wiz-bang gun. Get what works for you, then run it into the ground with solid training and LOTS of practice. When it breaks, get another one of the same gun and keep working with it. Practice and proficiency are far more important than a new gun. Skills can be moved later, but stick it out with a good tool and you can use the other tools. If you keep changing you're just shooting yourself in the foot.
I don’t think anybody ever gives a damn about the finish on third glock. People throw hissy fits over their 1911’s that they think “won 2 world wars.”
Most guns outshoot most shooters today.
My favorite YT vid so far this year by far- awsome. By the way, the 1911 and the M14 would be on that table for my top five as well!
Please be the PEN-15, please be the PEN-15, please be the PEN-15...
Clint is a living legend! He has so much good information/experience!
I continue to rewatch this video from time to time while finding more bits each viewing to consider/reconsider. I am sure now that James through making this Thunder Ranch series with Clint Smith has produced & captured what shall be iconic legend America. Absolutely outstanding. Hoorah & Carry On !
I’ve been following Clint Smith for the past 25 years. He’s a great wealth of knowledge. Great show guys. Keep more coming!
M14/M1a is by far the best feeling and most natural rifle I have ever shot. By far my favorite!
This was an amazing video. I love watching Clint give his take on stuff. He reminds me of all the grizzled vets I talked to growing up. Thanks for bringing us this line up.
Clint Smith is the man that everyone needs to listen to. He knows and has seen more than most people. Take notes
In the days of tactical everything, this was a refreshing video. Thanks for putting this video out.
Thank You for giving the People who came before us with a warriors heart the respect they deserve and hopefully that attitude and charm will help mold a better future. Respect
Clint is my hero. Blessed that I was able to take classes from him when he was still in Texas. He and Heidi are two of the nicest people on Earth.
If U have never trained we him do yourself a huge favorite that U will never forget and train with him soon the opportunity won't always be here
I love these videos. Listening to this guy talk always brightens my day.
Keep up the vids with clint smith, preserve the knowledge and wisdom.
James and Clint have become besties! Soon James will begin carrying colt revolvers, and Clint will start wearing Hawaiian shorts!
Great video gents ~ it was a pleasure!
Clint is a national treasure. Thanks for making this video.
Clint Smith is a genuine legend. Thank you TFB for the experience to listen to this guy, something I would never have if it weren't for your channel. Clint's wisdom is always appreciated.
The man obviously knows and appreciates fine guns! Thanks.
Clint Smith is one of the most bad ass names I've ever heard.
Thanks for the interview. The man ALWAYS has great information to share
Another great video, James. I've been following Clint Smith since the mid 1970s.

how do you keep your infrastructure and streets up to date when your taxes on gas are that ridiculously low?

This guy is a national treasure. Thanks for the interview.
That was a fantastic upload. I hang on his every utterance. Clint is Legendary.
Wow, that was awesome. It is funny that people of our age (Vietnam War Era) have pretty much the same types of guns. 1911, M1A, and I like Colt over Smith & Wesson, even though I own a Model 57. I too broke down and bought a Glock. I feel so much smarter now! Thanks!
Wow. That Sharps is absolutely beautiful. I want a Quigley version as soon as the money rolls around ✌🏽
Thank you both for this great content!
"You might have a favorite gun, I just see them as tools" *goes on to describe his M14 saying he has a lot of attachment to it*
That's what favorite means, old timer.
"6.5 what the hell" quote of the year.
I'll probably get alot of shit for this but I'm a millennial and I carry a full size 1911. You don't have to be old to like them. I shoot great with it, it fits my huge hands well and I'm comfortable with it. It was the gun I learned how to shoot with. I also don't feel under armed with it as the likelyhood of me having to reload in a self defense situation is very small. I've tried several glocks and didn't particularly like any of them, not knocking you if you're a glock person but I just don't care for them. There are other striker fired pistols that I do like, and would carry.
@SUPERVILLAIN11 Those who know how to make a 1911 sing never feel under armed.
Carry on
So awesome you have Clint Smith on your show so much, love that guy!!!
Thanks James and Clint. I love both these dudes.
It would take 100 lifetimes for me to have this much character. Why he has a M14 is why I have a Colt AR15, but I wasn't in Vietnam. I also have a Colt 1911, but we had M9s in the Army.
"I'm gonna shut up now and..."
Cuts James off anyway.
Fucking legend.
Thanks for posting this! Glad to see the Sharps in your faves. Glad BPCR at TR-Texas was, and I am happy to have been a participant.
Very interesting favorites. Keep the vids coming with Clint, he's a national treasure!
