Perspective on Apple Vision Pro / visionOS from a newbie developer (and how I got started).

  • I’m no expert, but just thought to share a different side from someone completely new to AR/VR. Sorry if it was a bit choppy, first video I’ve published, tried to keep it succinct 🙃.
    TLDW:
    * Biased and narrowed opinion from a supply chain professional: absolutely no doubt in my mind this is the future.
    * AVP is a privileged piece of technology. It costs an absurd amount and you need to be in the U.S to get (officially). Keep this in mind.
    * Developing for visionOS is not too difficult, many free resources online. Read Swift Programming Language, learn SwiftUI, ARKit, and RealityKit. Watch ‪@seanallen‬ (no sponsorship or affiliation at all-he’s so good, honestly).
    * There are countless opportunities. In hindsight, all will seem obvious.
    * Thank you Apple for developing a mindblowing piece of technology. I feel like I am living in the future.
    * Going to WWDC? Hmu!

    Great video. Thanks for sharing your journey. It’s difficult to find the real experiences among all the videos about the AVP that are neither inexplicably angry or warning about exaggerated shortcomings of the AVP. I appreciate you developers and agree with you about the role of the early adopters. Congratulations on your successes.

      I super appreciate this comment Sharon, thank you for the encouraging words! Yes I'm sure there are many nay-sayers out there, time will tell 😉.

    I'm Brazilian and I'm making a career transition, wanting to start studying UI/UX, but I confess that talking to some colleagues I see that Vision OS is very promising, I believe we haven't used 10% of its capacity yet, it's still a world to to be discovered, I think I'm going to start studying this type of development as well, I have a Macbook Air M2, do you think it's worth studying in parallel with UI/UX, or do I dedicate myself entirely to development on Vision OS?

      Hi! I think it would be difficult to dive right into visionOS without first leaning SwiftUI, so I’d still suggest starting there first and then going deeper with visionOS frameworks.
      Completely agree we’re just at the brink of what’s possible!

      Oh I’m just doing this as a side hobby, I don’t think the market is mature enough yet for visionOS jobs.
