You saved me so many years of school because everything you said gave me the realization that I can’t possibly go into PR. Especially the last point, not believing in a product and having to back it up, I’ve been going back and forth between PR and teaching and this was so helpful for me.

Good advice. Everything you say is true. If a client or brand is not aligned to your values I would say don't do it. The inner conflict will be too stressful - it's living out of integrity to take on a client you know doesn't align to your values. It will impact your wellbeing. Just not worth it. For example, I would never take on a client that is in say way involved with GMO, geoengineering or any anti-life business. You have to know your own boundaries - inner and outer.

Glad the video could help! Hmm to be honest I don’t know much about getting recognition on LinkedIn :( but I do know it helps if your former or current colleagues leave you recommendations on your page.

@@reilly4098 When I was not freelancing I did get paid vacations. When you freelance you manage your own time so technically you can go on vacation anytime but it is unpaid so up to you.

Hi Suanny, thank you for being transparent with all of us. I have a question... will there be issues being in this field for someone with visible tattoos?
I have visible tattoos and have never had an issue but I’ve only worked in travel/tourism/beauty and agency settings. Might be different for public policy or government but honestly I don’t see how in this day and age it could be a big issue 🤷🏽♀️

How has your job changed since the hit of COVID? Seems increasingly difficult cutting through the noise when the news cycle is the coronavirus 24/7.
In terms of PR work I have less because the industry I work in (travel & tourism) is shut off BUT if you work in healthcare PR or something similar I can imagine it would be really busy. In terms of my writing, it hasn't changed much because people are still looking for stories but it's just that they are coronavirus related now. I recently wrote a story about how I adopted a bunny during COVID-19 so it's just about thinking outside the box in terms of angles.
