"Trickin Pickin" performed by Doug Waterman
I live in Little Rock, nice to see you coming through our part of the woods!
That is the USS Razorback. Opened for tours in 2005. It is a Balao-class submarine from WWII.
I was really bummed that I missed you guys. Took a trip to TN and had to go right by Russellville and Lake Dardanelle. You guys had already left to go on down river.
That submarine tour is awesome. I highly recommend it. They also have a tugboat from World War II Pearl Harbor. Both boats book end War II. The tugboat picked up survivors after the attack by Japan in Pearl Harbor and the submarine was near by in tokyo bay when Japan officially signed the surrender.
Doug the tape you put on the motor switch was wound the wrong way lefty loosey righty tightly 😂😂😂😂😂
Beautiful scenery lovely sunset too
I have watched every video you have made. Sitting in port, waiting on your insurance to get approved, seemed like you might never get here. But finally... You're here and motoring along. We'll all waited so long for this point. Congratulations. Now I want to watch all you're sailing/motoring along journeys and adventures. Keep them coming. Thanks for the perseverance, Doug.
He is an inspiration to us all.
Favourite channel hands down.
Love the new builds, that "karagun" little speed boat is a pretty thing, hope to see the Seeker with her coming alongside
The bridge you takes about not having red lights is fairly new. It’s Broadway Bridge. They tried to blow up the old one and have it fall into the river. They set off the charges but it did not fall 😅
Thanks for coming through Little Rock
So happy for you. well done. Many years in the making and now many years of memories to be made and look forwards to....
Thanks Jakob
It makes me smile every time I see a new video. The hard work, dedication and persistence of everyone has paid off tremendously!! You inspire me to work harder at the things I do. Keep up the great work Doug and crew!
The ultimate thing that I've made today is to get the family court in Auckland New Zealand to recognize that my grievances as a concerned father of six children, finally and after fifteen years they gave me the right to have my say .... this is on the family side, as for the achievements side, I am honored to be a graduate of one of the most prestigious American aviation institute ( Spartan Collage of Aeronautics ) as an Aircraft Engineer, then went with Boeing, acquired an Engineering certificates of B 737, B 707, B 727, B 747 , than switched to industrial automation systems, worked at the Engineering Dept at Domino Sugar, in St, Bernard Parish, Louisiana , come from a family an engineering known in La, and Tennessee for highways designs since late fifties ... in the seventies unofficially I was adopted by the one of most honorable and prominent families in Tulsa and Skiatook, Ok, I've been following SV seeker since day one, brother,,, you nailed it, hope the world would be a better place when you hit the sees, all the best, and God Speed
I grew up in Little Rock. I Live in South Carolina now and haven’t been back there in yrs. This video was fun to run across.
Here feeding that algorithm. This is such a great adventure to see. Take care all.
She took like a duck to water!
I'm so happy you're seeing your dream come true!
Hats off to Cpt Doug and the magnificent crew of misfits!
What an adventure, worthy of remembrance!
Sweetness by the Pound. All the work is and has paid triple in return. Stay safe Crew and stay full of happiness on the journey!!
Thanks Bart.
I have worked in the private harbor you talked about with its own lock, bunch of older folks live with some very passionate about boats. I currently work for the people doing the I 30 bridge. That barge was one we put under the bridge to catch most of the concrete when we demoed the bridge.
Love the river adventure huckleberry finning it down the mighty Mississippi, so anxious to see you under full sail once you reach the gulf
Though, I live several thousands of miles away in UK , but yet feel I'm part of travelling crew of the boat. I've been following you, since year seven of construction of the MV Seeker. One of the things can make you happy is when you what you're part of, streaming afloat a river and the sea. So, to the entire crew and captain Doug, congratulations!
I'm from Arkansas and I feel the same way about videos from your area.
Living the dream has real meaning after this build that's for sure. Watching you guys sitting on the deck waiting for the RR bridge puts it into perspective. Life is good stay safe
It’s amazing home many people you’ve inspired Doug. I’ve been following since you made the lead ingots from tire weights. Love what you’ve done and can’t wait for what you have to share.
USS Razorback (SS-394), a Balao-class submarine, was the only ship of the United States Navy to be named after the razorback, a species of whale (Balaenoptera physalus) found in the far southern reaches of the Pacific Ocean. She is arguably the longest-serving combat front-line submarine still existing in the world, having been commissioned by two different countries for 56 years of active duty. She was in Tokyo Bay during the surrender of Japan. In 2004, the state of Arkansas adopted the submarine (although she was not named after the University of Arkansas Razorbacks mascot) and she is now a museum ship at the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum.
Doug, looks like you're doing pretty good. Ironed out most of the major issues with Seeker, got her running well. I'm excited to see her all rigged up and sailing under wind power. You say you appreciate all the help and donations. With your attitude towards this project I'm sure a lot of people would agree with me that we're happy to see you living your dream and taking us all on this journey with you.
I live close to that gas line going over the river. The Arkansas River is my home. 👍
Thanks for shouting out the Yacht Club!
Making great progress! Only about 85 more miles (give or take) to the mighty Mississippi!
those shared laughs when something catastrophic almost happens are memories that last forever. thanks for sharing!
Congrats SV SEEKER on ur adventure down the Arkansas River. lv the views and videos..
I had fun watching this video, thanks for the ride.
Keep going Captain Doug and the crew may your Voyage be brave and strong and made new discoveries be discovered and may answers be answered
My hometown has a rivetted bridge too, build at the shipyard my dad used to work. Or so they say. It hinges open, protected heritage too. To solve increase of traffic they had build a modern monstrosity right next to it.
Awesome voyage !! Love the bridges and that how you doin loud horn
Another one of those countless well-thought details: the mainmast just makes it under the bridge!
I live vicariously though you and Betsy.
Dad has a 44ft Trojan tricabin cruiser spent alot of time on the Aransas River, it never gets old
I enjoyed all your videos, thanks for allowing me to sail with you all .
Glad you like them!
woooh my home state!!!
I googled it. USS Razorback.
I detailed the connections that lift span in 1967. The riveted (or bolted) connections were a railroad requirement at that time. The other spans are much older. The lift span opening once had a swing span, but that made the clear width to narrow.
'Little Rock Yacht Club', not a single mast in sight!, makes you wonder!
There are key chain things that retract the keys when you drop them. Like an auto retract lanyard. You could put that between the ceiling and the speaker mic for the radio to be able to just let it go and it find its home position.
love it looks like so much fun..............
It is!
well done, Captain
Dang can't believe you were just her in my city a day ago ,so cool
Fun fact that rob roy bridge was built during the transition from riveted construction to bolted in the late 1960s. So all the shop joints are hot rivets and everything done in the field is modern bolts.
It would be interesting if you had a camera at the top of the main mast, then you see just how close you are to some of the bridges. Or maybe you don’t want to know just how close. Another great video
WOW MAN!!1 YOU DAMN NEAR UP IN MY PART OF THA WOODS!!!
BUT YOU CAIN'T GET TOO FAR UP DA WHITE RIVER TO CLOSE TO ME.
STILL THIS IS PRETTY DAMN COOL TO A MAJOR HILLBUNNEH!!!
WAY TO GO GUYS!!!
This was fascinating!!!!!! Thank you. I live in Pine Bluff but family in Tulsa - can I hitch a ride from one to the other with you guys??? I never knew there were so many locks on the Arkansas River - I just thought it rolled along, as Mark Twain wrote it! Super!!!!
little rock bridge is 5 clicks, channel 13 and the Rob Roy bridge in Pine Bluff is 5 clicks on channel 12, Rob Roy is also 52' raised and 17ft lowered lol, a little late now but there ya go, Was looking forward to seeing ya Lock Thru
Thanks
Welcome
One long and two shorts is the recognizable sound for boat whistle
Unless you are calling for more power, it is three long whistles
Hey I saw Arctic SeaCamel in the "Wha'd you Make Today?" Great channel and build!
Great trip down the river. You needed to have a camera mounted on top of the mast. Get a close up shot as you approach the bridge.
Didn't do much today, stacked firewood on the deck. Cool weather coming!
That’s the uss razorback. It’s a very good tour!
Hey Doug, wonderful video as always! I'm wondering if you have a setting on your camera or phone to film in 60 frames a second instead of 30 or 24. It would make the panning shots along the river a little less dizzying.
Damn impressive, Expedition
LOVE IT
I grew up hunting and fishing that stretch of the river. I haven’t been back in about 15 years. I didn’t recognize anything except that pipeline over the river I know exactly where that is
How are the dragon's holding up? I am curious as to how well that sculpture will handle weather.
You passed right by my house!
You could use a self leveling camera on the mast head to look at what is coming and give yourself a little piece of mind.
You absolutly need a camera on the top of the mast! That could shot some great footage!
Lock & Damn 5 is right up the road from my house. We fish there a lot.
They are not going to tear down that plant. They are building another one. Sucks for all of us here, we were hoping it would go biofuel because we have a local plant for that.
I think a GoPro at the top of the mast would make a good shot!
We put the top of the main mast back on today. So that will now be a lot easier to do.
Just a suggestion. Might be cool to have a cam at the top of the mast so all can see how close it is to the bridges.
Doug you need a camera on top of the mast! If nothing else for those of us watching without any kind of depth perception!
nice video thanks
Turkish and US flag waving on a submarine at an important event for me
this video is very special to me
TURKİSH 🇹🇷 ABD 🇺🇲 👍
god man i haven't laughed that hard in months
never seen a pelican taking off from the side before
11:36
Ha. The ones down here on the Gulf are much more graceful on takeoff.
when will you set the sails for the first time? :)
loving your commentary, views on life, trips in general, been a fan since i saw you on Dangar stu's channel . quick question, could prob google it, but what the heck, why do boats need to tie up at locks ?cheers, happy motor sailing ;)
As the locks fill and empty the water can get quite turbulent, so you have to tie off so you don't crash into other boats.
What was your mast from water line height? I'm thinking of going from Galveston to morrilton but not sure if I trust navionics on the height. Thanks brother great video
51 feet and it was dam close. Get the Book: bookstore.gpo.gov/products/mcclellan-kerr-arkansas-river-navigation-system-mkarns-confluence-white-river-and
Old hand Dug teaching how ropes hung and flung welding so far behind 👍
I may be slow, but it’s just dawned on me, I can follow you Google Earth, Little Rock here I come. God speed on your journey Doug.
Edit, wow Doug I see you have a good way to go, and through some interesting places, took me 2 mins to get to The Gulf, and it looks thin in places that river, well from space it does.
What are those telescope looking things on the rail at the bow?
The light comment took me a second but I got it!
You need a camera on the top of the mast to watch the bridges coming to see how close you are. I am not sure what perspective you would have as it approaches. Maybe fly your drone ( do you have one?) To watch the clearance as you pass under. I have a hard time seeing it from your deck camera angles.
can your boat seal ? i never hav seen this
That submarine was the WWII Diesel boat Razorback
Some interesting thought. Put a camera looking just over the top of the mast on an arm behind the top of the mast. that way you should easily be able to check clearance. make it foldable so you do not damage the camera just in case.
On a less serious note, if it would not fit (I honestly doubt that will happen, but who knows) you would at least have great footage for the next video ;)
How far do you have to go and where will your port be?
Pirates Cove, Elberta LA for a spell. 1,200 miles from where we built her.
That last bridge must have been a butt-puckering moment! Damn!
Why do they ouch the barges and not pull them. And does it steer better by pushing.
Where has the guy with the polish been?
Should put a camera up on the mast the next time you go under a bridge
My complaint: your video is too good for youtube. Great job Doug. keep a sailin.
During the crack days, you couldn't drive across the bridges of little rock without glass viles popping under your tires.
Howdy SV. Out of curiosity, what brought you to Arkansas? Do you have ties here?
I live in Pine Bluff. My son was born in Little Rock and my 2 daughters in Pine Bluff.
My late ex-husband and I ran a lot of trot-lines at "Charles D. Maynard Lock & Dam 5" years ago.
Simply passing through. I built the boat in Tulsa, and the river was my path to the Gulf of Mexico.
Hey Doug, my triple D's arrived! I have them snuggled on my belly right next to my scar. We will be going back to NIH in Feb. Since I have to heal, I decided to learn to play the guitar before i go. Any of the Triple Ds read music?
We are catching up
The submarine is the USS Razorback!
Dauphin Island is pronounced as "dolphin. Island". Hate that i missed your crossing as i have a summer house off weeks bay. Maybe next time through. Safe travels and fair seas.
FINALLY! Someone spells as badly as I do. : ) Until next time.
What about a camera on top of the mast?
Doug, couldn't you put a small webcam or cctv camera at the top of the mast so you can see if your going to fit under the bridges without the excitement 👌
Without the excitement? What would be the point of being here?
Wrong use of words, replace excitement with dramas. Enjoy your day, 👍
heb je er wel eens aan gedacht om een camera op de top van de mast te zetten om de hoogte van de brug goed te kunnen zien?
Mine might not be the latest and greatest but when I found them they were junk and today they win ACBS awards. As little money as possible and the rest in blood sweat and tears makes you not boisterous but an honest proud and you should be.
Do you pay to go through each lough?
There are no fees for the locks.
That bridge had to have added to the pucker factor. Thanks for taking me along Doug.
Wanna see more river boats
3:00. Was wondering who the camera guys were. Documentary?
Yes
@@SVSeeker That will be cool to see. Not to take away that you do a good job filming and editing. It will be hard to beat. Thanks for the longer video too.
Not sure you realized when you named her, but you should name a vessel something short, distinct, and easy to understand (for radio obviously) … Seeker nails that.
i wonder if birds where like flies for giants and does that mean that a bird is just a giant flie im not sure but i will need a bigger smacker tho - Patrick 2022
7:34 need some self amalgonating tape
Can you show us on a U.S. map how far you are from Tulsa?
