Glen Campbell, Roy Clark, Chet Atkins, Willie Nelson, Crystale Gayle...you have an entire wing of the Country Hall of Fame right there...
Yes indeed!
And don’t overlook Ray Stevens and Alice Cooper there, too.
There’s only about 10 legends sitting around him.
Glen is the man..he one of the most famous group of studio musicians called “the wrecking crew”. One of the finest studio songs ever recorded is called “Wichita Lineman”..it’s a must listen for every human!
Love that song!
Glen Campbell started playing guitar 5 years old. One of 12 kids raised in poverty. Did not read music~self taught. Had perfect pitch. He was considered to be one of the greats. He could hear a song & then play it note per note. Very humble talented singer & guitarist
There was a group of studio musicians in the US back in the 60s called the Wrecking Crew. Glen was one of them. The history of American music goes through that group.
So very true...😊
This is a classic master piece in front of his contemporaries its enough to bring tears to your eyes.
Dang, there are a lot of great musicians sitting around him. Wow!
I think that it was this very session where one of the other guests asked Glen where he got this guitar. Glen answered that he bought it from Janie Fricke who was also in the group. Bobby Bare, another guest in the group, commented that Glen has more talent than anyone oughta have.
Glen Campbell played a 12 string guitar. He could play any guitar. He never had music lessons. He grew up in Billstown, Arkansas, and learned music from his family.
Glen is playing an electric/acoustic Ovation guitar. Good reaction!
Pull up Glen playing his guitar solo when he was younger on the television show 'Hee Haw'.
Nice reaction... this is certainly a good first step - and while I'm not a huge fan of Country either, there is simply no denying the talent of so many players in the genre. To be honest, I suspect there is no greater concentration of guitar-playing talent anywhere in the world that can compare to Nashville, TN. I was simply astounded by the number of outstanding musicians...
You described this perfectly for me. Its home. And my youth.
That solo is a miracle. Glenn's the GOAT.
Glenn was a member of the “wrecking crew” the group of session musicians that played on most of the 60’S hits.
"that keeps you in the backroads by the rivers of my memory, it keeps you forever gentle on my mind"
now there's some beautiful lyrics, sung and played by in my opinion one of the worlds best muso/singer.
You should look deeper into Glen, he was a huge session muso as well and you'll be blown away by how many hugely massive hit songs he's played on. I forget what year Glens version of this song came out but it's said it was the second most played song that year world wide
I absolutely love this reaction. Makes me smile to see you enjoying it so much!😊
Glen Campbell - a national treasure. I hope you will listen to more of his music. He's quite an interesting and talented man.
A nice reaction. The audience for this video was many country music stars. Including some great guitarists, Roy Clark and Chet Atkins to name a couple.
Some suggestions illustrting their music
Glen Campbell: William Tell Overture
Roy Clark: Duelin' Banjos, Folsom Prison Blues
Chet Atkins: Wildwood Flower
that back up band was just outstanding, too
You are looking at the best of the best in old school country: Bobby Bare, Crystal Gayle, Willie Nelson, Roy Clark, Chet Atkins and more.
My pop-pop raised me on old country music... this is classic country... love love love
Sweet song, great performance by Glen and the gang, nice reaction.
Eddie Van Halen upon meeting Alice Cooper said hey Alice do you know Glen Campbell because I want you to get me a lesson with him... and don't let his smooth demeanor and easy-going Style full you Glen Campbell was a stone cold shredding face melter whenever he wanted to be
The woman sitting next to him is Crystal Gayle. She's Loretta Lynn's sister, Loretta is one of the greats. You have to check her out just to say you did. 😊😉
He is playing an Ovation with a molded back.
For amazing banjo, check out Roy Clark and Buck Trent 'Dueling Banjos' (the short 3:52 version)
I think that is an Adamas, an upper end Ovation. So yes, you are certainly correct.
That was some very clean guitar playing. It was a prolific session guitarist and played guitar for a lot of famous recordings. He does music that is a lot more technical and difficult than what you see here.
Glenn Campbell surrounded by Country Music Royalty! Roy Clark, Chet Adkins
Willie Nelson and a dozen more 1st ballot HOF’s. GC was part of
“The Wrecking Crew” A group of elite musician the record companies hired. To play on some musics best selling records! I’ve read and heard that Glen Campbell couldn’t read music.
I don’t know if that is true or not. Great video love to hear input on the music I grew up loving!
Glenn could play anything. I never considered him to be a Country artist. He played on all kinds of records and play very well. Many famous guitar players, like Eddie Vanhalen wanted to get lessons from Glen. Lots of people focus on his left hand but he was able to use many different picking techniques. Alternate. Hybrid. My favorite is his "MacArthur Park" with the Sioux City Orchestra. I've read that even the musicians from the Orchestra were greatly impressed.
The guitar is an ovation that he borrowed from Janie Fricke at that gathering.
Glen was a BIG fan of Django
I think Glen played an Ovation guitar. I'm pretty sure Ovation stills makes the Glen Campbell model.
You say you love the banjo react to Roy Clark playing banjo...... I been binge listening to your reactions I know you been reacting to his guitar playing
Glen Campbell is an amazing artist. You should check him and Jerry Reed playing a song called Southern Nights, looks like they filled it live at a BBQ. For banjo, anything by Earl Scruggs is fire. Roy Clark also played a mean banjo if you'd like to visit more of his work. Very much enjoying your channel. Thank you.
You have seated there the best of the best the pretty lady with the dark hair is Crystal Gayle behind Glen Campbell is singer songwriter Bobby Baer, Roy Clark, Willie Nelson and the great Chet Atkins are also thier these people were and are the cream of country music.
You've got country music royalty there Glen Campbell, Bobby Bare, Chet Atkins, Crystal Gayle, Roy Clark, and Willie Nelson. the best of the best.
When I saw Glen Live in Branson, Glen played a 12 string and it fantastic
I believe it's an ovation model which Glen was pretty loyal to. Glen Campbell is the greatest singer/guitarist ever recorded.
You need to check out Steve Martin, actor/ comedian, playing a mean banjo.
Am I wrong in saying that what makes this video is that Glen was the only guy better than Roy at that time? And that's why Roy's got that face?
if you like banjo check out the group New Grass Revival doing Reach
William tell overture with Glenn cambel
The guitar is an ovation.
Just my opinion, but this was Glen's best song. He was a great singer, but an even better guitarist.
If you want to hear some serious banjo work listen to his daughter Ashley amd a guy name Carl Jackson playing this song Ashley is on the banjo what her father was on guitar
Looks like Glen is playing an Ovation guitar.
Glen could play anything with strings ...
Glen played an Ovation guitar.
The brand of his guitar is an Ovation.
Glen is playing an Ovation guitar
Les Paul
That's an Ovation guitar.
Campbell was already getting old here. He was still great, but this was not all that long before he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. If you're going to pick one video of Campbell to analyze, you should look at one when he was at his artistic peak and physical prime.
Greetings from Chile. Love good music and feeling. Thanks!
You’re screwing up the whole video. Just watched listen.
looks to me like Glen has an Ovation
