Vtec was originally just variable valve lift I think the later ivtec was the one that had variable valve timing. I don't know if it had valve lift as well?

Sorry, VTEC is not about more power. Where VTEC comes into play is at low/med power settings. AT WOT, valves are fully open, but VTEC alters both valve duration AND VALVE LIFT at lower power settings to keep combustion chamber efficiency high and so use less fuel when it is not needed. Thus VTEC is about fuel economy at lower power settings not max power output.

xsbuilder1 It actually gives you more power at higher revs. At low/med rpms, the engine uses the low profile lobe for fuel efficiency, and at higher rpms it uses the high profile lobe to open the valves as much as possible and let more air in, therefore you get better performance.

Steve, VTEC is not an F1 technology and was never used in F1. Variable valve timing is prohibited by the F1 technical regulations. VTEC is a great way to broaden the power band, but it makes sense only in a road going car (a bike or a boat), where you need both low rpm drivability and high rpm power. In a racing engine you generally do not need the former.

I think I will like mine if I can find a dealer that fix it 2018 bf 90d

Lol the Honda needs to pump more fuel to get it to plan just proves that they just don't have the torque of an etec the worst video ever didn't even give any info on torque economy and maintenance
