Here's a bit for the flowers or dinner you need to buy for her! Keep these videos coming man, I'm long since passed the dad car days but I love watching your journey!
Wow thanks man!! That’s so kind 🙌 yes… having an early L405 and a GT on the drive as mum and dad cars is a bit mental isn’t it 😬 my long suffering wife is very understanding and supportive of my crazy ideas 😅
I was very similar to this, looking my first v8 for a family of 4. I was dead set on it being a jaguar xfr. I then got reminded of the vauxhall monaro....that was then the one I wanted, 6.0ltr v8 😍 Problem was that there weren't many around for sale. Finally got one for £11k.....one of the best sounding cars ever! No silly gimmicks in it, just a bog standard no frills car that just wants to spin those back wheels. The jag would have been better as its more modern and upmarket but the monaro just makes me smile. Looking at it, hearing it, driving it and looking at people faces as it rumbles past them 👌

It doesn’t have 4 seats or a V8 but I recently bought a 987 Boxster S for under £10k. Really underrated car. I’m loving it and my kids want to be driven wherever they’re going in it too! I love the concept of this channel but for us dads that already have a family-friendly daily, there are plenty of exciting 2-seat options out there at the moment for good prices too.
I just love your excitement and positivity it’s what we need and not let the negativity of some of the comments change things. I Always look forward to one of your vids 👍👍🙌
I'd get a lexus Ls460. Nearly 400bhp, 0-6 in 5.7 seconds, extremely reliable. Every piece of technology fitted to a car. Most comfortable car you'll ever sit in.
I literally saved that Jag in my autotrader adverts list. 😂 I then looked at the reviews of the trader. Most said the car they bought had an issue but the trader fixed it.
I believe Rory from AutoAlex had one said it was a beast however think it absolutely drank fuel which is obviously Is expected for a V10 but I’m not sure if Ben would daily the V10 if not then S6 definitely would be cool!!!
So true, I was looking for a car to take.on 500 mile round trip a couple of times a month. After looking at boring cars for 15k got a low mileage 5.0 XK. Spent a bit on the obvious preventative issues and love it !!
Go for it Ben!!!! I have an Alfa 147 with a Busso V6 on it, and my daughters and I love it! My wife hated it, until she drove it, so now it's our not so reliable mom/dad car😂
Probably like all on here watching Ben (great channel) I like to try different performance/interesting cars (currently on number 47). I wanted todo the NC500 with the wife and kids this year. Couldn’t ignore the XJ Supersport, mine is 2011, 70k, FSH and I paid around your budget (it had some issues that I knew about but drove fine) so spent from Jan to July getting it ready it ready for the trip and it was brilliant! Fast, amazingly comfortable and not bad on fuel! Over the 1000 or so miles it did 33mpg.
Bought a one owner £15k GT last year. 70k miles and stacks of dealer history (£20k spent in last 5 years). Amazing car and gets far more attention than any £15k car has a right to. It doesn’t like being sat for any length of time so the key is use it as much as possible.

I had a Maserati Coupe, low-speed collision, and insurance offered double what I paid for it... I was doing some house renovations and I did need some money... took the cash, and bought a V6 XJ6 2005, £2.5k. I was happy for 9 months, but like you, I got the itchy feet and wanted a V8. So, I have been looking for a Quattroporte 4.7 on the advice of JayEm to avoid the 4.2 can variator issue... however, I was offered an S4 avant with the 4.2 V8 and tiptronic box for silly money. So, I am sort of in between. I'm not an Audi guy, I haven't warmed to the car... Milltek exhaust two weeks' time to see if that will scratch the itch, BUT I have Quattroporte on search alerts to find the right one... it's so complicated. I now have a V6 XJ and the S4, but.... @@G2020- Strange comment. Dads and kids are a kinda package deal, and how to fit them into cool cars is literally the point of the channel (although, not today's video). Perhaps you're having a bad day? Hope you're ok and positive vibes are in your near future.

Hi Ben. I actually have £20-30k and am shopping for a toy right now. Market it mad & it’s almost hard to choose there are such good deals. I have an L405 Range Rover, so looking for a pure fun car. Thinking TVR Griffith 500 or Tuscan. My £10k dad car? Jaguar XJR X358 all day long.
Awesome Ben!! A GranTurismo S is the perfect trading down car from the GranSport (we all know the GranSport is the better car 😜). Jokes aside, a 4.7 GranTurismo for £10k would be unbelievable! I eagerly await the next video
Hi Ben, with that Jag and its mileage question... A lot of modernise cars have loads of electronic modules that also note down mileages. Is it worth asking a main dealer if it would be possible to verify a car's mileage electronically? In which case you could still be onto a cracking deal! & won't any other MOTs and the odometer confirm the accuracy of the stated mileage??
Me again! Mentioned my dad’s low mileage Bentley Flying Spur on the last video. I happen to have a black 2006 RS4 Avant you’re more than welcome to use for content 😂 Again, based in Surrey.
you sound just like richard hammond lol but i just bought myself a 2015 granturismo mc. i can tell you that you'll love everything about it except the infotainment. these cars are absolutely amazing. also if you're buying an early model 07-11 make sure it has the variator issues resolved. if it hasn't that'll be a few thousand from the start.
Well, im shocked! I genuinely thought the Jaaaaag guy would fold! Jesus Ben,brave step going 10K on a Gran Turismo! I considered one at the same time as i was looking at Astons but after seeing the video of your friends one and what he had spent, i chickened out and bought a DB9 instead. On a side note, you got to watch those 4.2 V8 audi engines, My S4 cabriolet was a beautiful car in fantastic nick until the timing chains started chattering. Thet are at the rear of the engine and it has to come out to replace them so beware! Cant wait to see the Maserati though! Grab a big handful of bravery pills and go for it!👍👏👏👏♥️🏴
Fantastic work! XK's are much worse value than these, XFR's rarely as much of a bargain. I ran two XFR in a row for 9 years and loved them, and the XJR was one of the possible replacements - had I still been doing the regular long trips - UK and Europe - I'd have gone that way. These Supersports fly under the radar and they and XJR's are incredibly light for their size (lighter than an XFR I believe)... Just beware the timing chain issues on the engines, change them if they get noisy! Incidentally I now have a Giulia Quad and while much about it is amazing, I miss the character of the Jag 5.0SC engine - it is one of THE great engines out there right now and I hope to have more. ideally in an F Type one day.
For £10k, I'd get an XFR or XJ 5L. Incredible cars and fewer huge expense risks than equivalent German cars. I've owned a V10 M5, a W211 E55AMG and currently have a C6 RS6. Things like brakes on the Germans, up to and beyond £1000 per brake disc (not ceramic) and suspension systems, such as Airmatic, ABC, DSC that cost a fortune to resolve. And the SBC braking system on the Mercs can be a nightmare. Any 500bhp car at £10k could throw you an eye watering bill, the Germans just have more eye watering bills to choose from. Whatever you buy, do your research and know what to look for.
It reminds me ReDriven's review of the GT. The host fell in love with it utterly (it's always funny seeing the part in he drives the car). Also, it seems like you can save a little bit of money by figuring out what parts are shared with Ferrari... although I bet you already know that. Waiting for the news 😅
I can spend hours looking, its so easy now, in the old days you'd be going from garage to garage to do a bit of tyre kicking. I'm always looking at V8's whether that Audi's, Maserati's or Jags, a good UA-cam follow is M539 Restorations, he's just rebuilt a Maserati engine (twice!). Love the XJ - if you can get one after 2013 as they seem to have rusting problems around the sun roof gutter, the XFR is prettier but not really roomy enough in the back for you, good luck with your new car.
Hi Ben how are you? Hopefully you can get your dream car very soon. I do love that Jaguar saloon. I love that dark blue. Stay safe and take care and good luck.
Recently sold my 4.7 Gt - had for two years and never really had any issues. Amazing car to drive for the $. I think you just have to have right attitude about maintenance and repairs- meaning you have to maintain it like a 10k car and not a 100k car. You simply can’t sink a lot of $$ into it and only do absolutely necessary repairs and maintenance to keep it running and nothing else- just live with minor imperfections and problems. If you try to fix every imperfection or even “recommend” repair it will bankrupt you
ive got 10k... but what's the insurance and maintenance on a GranTurismo. I had one in Dubai for a few days when I use to design a car mag its a stunning car had it at 240kmh on the Emirates road... stunning to drive
For me the c63 w204 is my dream dad car, currently have a c220 with the c63 exhaust and diffuser (no c63 badges!!😅) but yeah that will be my next car 100%
Mate, that could be the deal of the century! Either way it’s going to be compelling viewing! I’d like to get back into a Porsche and I’ve developed a thing for the Panamera. I think I’d push for an 4s for that budget, but that’d all go out of the window if a 4.7 GT fell in my lap! About 2 months since the QP left here now and although I miss the sound, I don’t miss the frequent visits to the petrol station 😂
Love the Gran Turismo. Jag XFR's are tempting at this price point but the only problem is that the facelift ones are out of reach and look so much better than the originals. Lots of tempting S5's at that budget but i'd still be tempted to do something stupid and go full Ronin with an S8 V10.
At 10k that’s a big brave pill but I hope it works out. I have a Sport and the parts prices are ridiculous really. The noise is immense and the bit that keeps me happy 😊
I saw a Jag XJ recently at a well known dealer in Somerset with higher mileage but stunning for 7k. You have to be careful with the timing chains and general condition and it needs regular oil changes. Fortunately big Jag owners tend to be fastiduous. Could be the best car you ever had.
For me it would have to be that black. RS4 Avant. For 3 reasons. It may be the best sounding V8 I’ve heard. Sports wagons are the coolest cars. But most importantly it’s a Manual ⚙️.!
So much car for that amount of money. I hope it turns out to be a good one - I remember JayEmm had some work done at the back end on his QP, so make sure everything is intact at the back; they share a lot of parts IIRC.
Jag XJR or Quattroporte for 10k for me. As much as I love the XJR it always looks a bit top heavy to me from the side profile regardless of wheel size.
The X100 or 150? I genuinely think the X100 is one of the most beautiful machines of the last 25 years. I don't love the way the early X150's look, but the facelift is so smooth.
I think Jaguar are the first of many to rebrand as car manufacturers go full ev. ev’s are going to be more about style, gone are the days of 4 cyl, V8’s, V12’s, and flat-plane cranks and ITB’s giving the car a soul, a unique feel, sound and performance, with an e.v, just turn up the amps if you want more power or fit another motor… it will be all about the colour, vegan ‘leather’ and sent module… so like jaguar, car manufacturers will turn into style brands.

If you try to fix every imperfection or even “recommend” repair it will bankrupt you
No, you are not crazy! if not now, then when? Go for it and enjoy it ...with a big smile :)
💯 🙌
ive got 10k... but what's the insurance and maintenance on a GranTurismo. I had one in Dubai for a few days when I use to design a car mag its a stunning car had it at 240kmh on the Emirates road... stunning to drive
You're a brave man Ben, i like your style. Hope it all works out well 👍
For me the c63 w204 is my dream dad car, currently have a c220 with the c63 exhaust and diffuser (no c63 badges!!😅) but yeah that will be my next car 100%
Great video, cant wait 4 next episode! GO 4 IT 😎👍🏴
Love the Gran Turismo. Jag XFR's are tempting at this price point but the only problem is that the facelift ones are out of reach and look so much better than the originals. Lots of tempting S5's at that budget but i'd still be tempted to do something stupid and go full Ronin with an S8 V10.
Yeah I’d love to review a v10 S8, I will get a V10 within the next few years I am sure of it :)
What are those vito’s like? Need something to drag the caravan and ferry kids
Look super smart inside
I love them, always had vitos but they rust! I’ve made some great videos about them check it out
What about a Merc S Class 4.7L V8 S500, 430bhp, 0 to 60 under 5 secs. £415 road tax, beautiful car. 2012 plate on auto trader for £9900
That xj looks stunning
The e63 amg in that shape is very rare
At 10k that’s a big brave pill but I hope it works out. I have a Sport and the parts prices are ridiculous really. The noise is immense and the bit that keeps me happy 😊
Great content, can't wait to see next weeks
I genuinely can’t wait!!! 🙌
Congrats on the x5 sale im glad you got a good price
I saw a Jag XJ recently at a well known dealer in Somerset with higher mileage but stunning for 7k.
You have to be careful with the timing chains and general condition and it needs regular oil changes. Fortunately big Jag owners tend to be fastiduous. Could be the best car you ever had.
Early 2000’s Mercedes CL500
Goosebumps exciting can’t wait for the next instalment.
🙌🤩 I’m so exciting for this week 😅
For me it would have to be that black. RS4 Avant. For 3 reasons. It may be the best sounding V8 I’ve heard. Sports wagons are the coolest cars. But most importantly it’s a Manual ⚙️.!
So much car for that amount of money. I hope it turns out to be a good one - I remember JayEmm had some work done at the back end on his QP, so make sure everything is intact at the back; they share a lot of parts IIRC.
I’d love to see you drive my Austin Healey. Not a Dad car I’ll admit, more a toy but it’d be a fun drive
Enjoying watching the journey, I’m patiently waiting for either the M5 or RS6. 👍 I think I recall Alex K having a V10 RS6 on his channel?
They had a V10 S6 :)
You thought of a monaro? I would say VXR8, but the price of those are nuts.
Also, why not look for an XFR instead of an XJR?
Yes I absolutely need to review one 🙌
Jag XJR or Quattroporte for 10k for me. As much as I love the XJR it always looks a bit top heavy to me from the side profile regardless of wheel size.
👌😎
The X100 or 150? I genuinely think the X100 is one of the most beautiful machines of the last 25 years. I don't love the way the early X150's look, but the facelift is so smooth.
@@AmosDohms I meant the XJR (X351) not XJR
@@ruk2023-- Ah, that makes sense.
XFR 4.2 2 gen is amazing
early CLS63 or CLS55??
I think Jaguar are the first of many to rebrand as car manufacturers go full ev. ev’s are going to be more about style, gone are the days of 4 cyl, V8’s, V12’s, and flat-plane cranks and ITB’s giving the car a soul, a unique feel, sound and performance, with an e.v, just turn up the amps if you want more power or fit another motor… it will be all about the colour, vegan ‘leather’ and sent module… so like jaguar, car manufacturers will turn into style brands.
Looks like Christmas coming early 👌👍👍
🙌🤩
You should consider a Jaguar XFR, apparently they drive amazing and you may be surprised and some come in very fruity specs.
Bargains aswell atm!
I'd go for an Audi A4 or A6. Lexus RCF is a bit over budget... What about a V8 Land Cruiser? Reliable as hell and lots of room inside.
I'd be very tempted to get a hemi engined c300 or dodge charger. 5.7 v8 muscle and brave pill monster
