I bought these for drumming and tai chi. They are perfect and crazy affordable. No need to bend over to put them on! You can upgrade the insoles for a more supportive feel.
If by "more supportive" you mean "arch support," then for most people I would advise against that, since that would defeat one of the purposes of barefoot shoes--to re-strengthen your arches and get to the point of not needing arch support. But maybe you meant something else. I actually did swap out the insoles on mine for a thinner one that has a less "plasticky" feel, so my feet won't sweat as much. Other than that though, yeah, they're a style I like, fairly wide and comfortable, and reasonably priced--can't complain!
@@barefootshoejosh Yes, but the other reason is toe-spreading, so for drumming or some casual martial arts, it's okay for older folks with no natural ball-padding left, to support the arch and add a cupped heel. We have bone to concrete once we pass 60 and we need a little cushion or it hurts to walk.
Glad you made this. I have been looking at these online. I just bought whitin high tops that actually arrived today! I wear a 9 1/2 or a 42. Their 9 1/2 are 43 apparently so they feel a hair too big, but not bad. If i buy these, i may get the 8 1/2 (42) because they don't sell a standard 9. Great review!
Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Please use my affiliate link in the video description if you end up getting some. If you're new to barefoot shoes, they may feel large at first (as compared to conventional shoes); but you will probably find that your feet spread out and find the freedom they've been craving all along! So maybe wear those 9.5 for awhile before you decide to go smaller. But if you've been wearing barefoot shoes for awhile, and you know the 9.5 is too big, then I'd say go for a smaller size. To each their own though! Do your thing!
@barefootshoejosh yeah. I put them side by side to my other shoes like my 9 1/2 lems primal zen and they definitely are a hair big. I will leave the insole they came with in as it seems to fit better. However, these 43s on the whitins also seem to be the same size as my feel grounds patrol lite boots which read 42 so there's that haha. Great shie either way. Very roomy. Whitin also lists their 8 1/2 as a 42 so there's that. I just kind of took a chance on the 9 1/2 (43) since the sizing chart jumped so much and was unsure. Still very cozy and impressive for the price.
@@jeremebonesaw yes there is definitely some variance in sizing across different brands. Just in EU sizing, I have some 43, 44, 45 and 46! Just depends! Always best to know your foot measurements and the interior measurements of the shoe when making sizing decisions, when possible.

That was a good review of the shoes man . I remember when I was young wearing van riding my bike 🚲 but it did hurt my toes because of how wide my toes were being Evenly straight across. My mom didn't want me to be riding my bike 🚲 barefooted 👣 but didn't mind me wearing my flip flops 🩴but I want to ride my bike 🚲 barefooted 👣 because it was more comfortable & wasn't hurting my toes. @@mackjenkins7721 I still haven't gotten to post the pair of shoes that I think might possibly work for you. I'll record the video and post it sometime soon though..
I have personally been hit or miss on Whitin. I have only been doing barefoot for 5 years and I have literally gone through 6 barefoot shoes, and when I first started whitn shoes lasted 4 months. I had some other companies that were worse. Again, I am pretty active and on a standard day can walk 20-35k steps a day. To me Altras though not barefoot and Belleview Military Minimalist boots were the ones that lasted the longest for me. Both gone through 3 pairs and lasted years. However, I ware them about once a week only.
You must be tough on your shoes! I've been wearing the hell out of the other pair of Whitins for a year now, and they're still going strong. But yeah, $40 shoes are often different than $120 shoes. Anyway, thanks for commenting.
@barefootshoejosh i am. I will wear my previous whitens 16 hours a day and I averaged 15-22k steps a day with some days 35+K steps. I am slightly less active but more deliberate in my runs which I only use Whittens on interval and sprints days. Again, I am tougher than the average customer.
@@wesleybarrett9502 I saw that Whitin has some running shoes out. Are those the ones you run in? Or do you run in one of their more casual athletic shoes?
@barefootshoejosh I ran in the trail runners before and those lasted about 6 months. The casual shoes broke down quicker but only when I ran in them.
