The young are just a reflection of how they were educated and parented by those who were allowed to act as they pleased by their parents in the 70's. when discipline was thrown out the window & replaced with molly coddling and being treated in such a manner they all thought they were wonderful and special, which has now led to them all feeling ENTITLED when they know nothing other than the propaganda they were force to repeat by the edication system!

@@Welshwolf62I agree, I grew up in the 70/80's, we had hand me downs, ate what we were given, didn't have everything we wanted, would get into trouble for throwing litter, being rude, vandalising. I noticed it start in the early 90's.

I appreciated it to, I was taught all the life skills that I myself don't see today in education, it starts with teaching at home & in school, yet the kind of education I was taught, as been replaced with a delusional one.

You need oil for your bicycle, the machines that make your clothes need oil ,the wind generators need oil and so on. It's not about oil it's another way of controlling people.

We used to collect pop bottles made of glass, wash them and take them back for pop bottle pennies and collect newspapers for the fish shop to wrap up their goodies.Parks had fountains to drink from. I used to darn my own socks as a kid and wore hand downs from my big brothers. When foot balls got burst, we sealed the hole with a hot poker. We learnt how to fix our own bikes instead of just buying a new one. Take away food was a rarity except fish 'n' chips wrapped in newspaper. The kids these days haven't a clue.

Me and my friend used to collect papers and magazines then sell to a local paper processing plant, we had his dad's trailer full in the 70s.

When I was a child in the so called horrible 1970s all I had in my bedroom was a bed. No double glazing that's because we had no heat to lose to the outside atmosphere. The milkman would deliver glass bottles of milk and collect the empties the next day. Driving an electric milk float. We didn't have gas so my parents cooked all our meals with electric. Only in my teenage years I got a TV in my bedroom so I could use my zx spectrum. So who is greener my generation or Gen z

Yrs ago when I was a child, we had milk delivered in bottles, then washed out and left outside to be reused, then it was a same with fizzy pop, we took back to shop or off licence to get some money back, news papers were used for fish and chips, or for lighting coal fires. Woman took their own shopping bags to buy food, veg would be weighed and put straight into the shopping bag same with fruit. There was no such thing as plastic, I used to love a drink of cold milk, but milk from plastic bottles yuck, same as Coca Cola,

`My son and his wife live with us and never turn off their multiple lights when they leave their room, music is left playing etc while one or other has a shower (which usually entails leaving the water running for at least half an hour, not turning the flow off for soaping obviously).
He (and his older brother) have been that way since very young despite constantly being asked to do so, he’s coming close to 40 so it’s too late now, to be fair though he doesn’t bang on about the climate, oil or Israel like most of his generation.

I actually feel sorry for these kids, they have been totally brainwashed and ironically have had their childhoods stolen not by oil, but by this pessimistic vision of the future.
Rather than pointing out the obvious hypocrisy of them using /benefiting form oil and being against it, i'd prefer GB news to press them on their long term, practical plans to transition from oil.
Also, GB news should focus on getting each and every one of them on record, stating which decade they expect the consequences to occur, then hold them to account when it does not happen.
Maybe this would help snap them out of it.

The amount of consumption Gen Z and millennials are used to is one of the reasons for climate change. I was raised in 70s and we had nothing. We played outside and literally made our toys. These two generations have been bathed in hyper consumption. And they’re full of sanctimonious self righteousness that’s nauseating.

The vast majority of takeaways are purchased by young people. They go on holiday by aeroplanes, get lifts from parents, eat many things that get imported, and electric cars which are nowhere near as green as they think, wind farms imported from China. So also start recycling, which I have been doing for years. We might reduce our carbon footprint by less than 0.01 but by passing on everything to be manufactured by China and India in their coal fired industries, it will increase global footprint overall by over 2%! Not to mention anything about wars continuing to carry on in lots of countries!
