If someone told you you’d have to wear a certain patterned T-shirt for the rest of your life would you comply? There’s plenty of ways to demonstrate your style without permanently disfiguring yourself. Tattoos are fashionable at the moment but I’m sure many will come to regret them.
As a retired director of a company I can tell you that we would never employ anyone with visible tattoos. It’s okay for celebs to have them as they don’t have to work in the real world.
Really why? How does this affect their capabilities their prowess for any position. Having worked in the big business industry for many years most of the booted and suited ones I knew were a waste of space.

Tattoos make people look scruffy, I've never seen one that looks good on anyone...Especially when people get older & wrinkly and the tattoos have faded...
It has nothing to do with being common as in down market, but it is an erosion of common values. Not showing tattoos was about maintaining a standard of decency. I disagree with Kim on this one. I'm usually on her side but ones personal choices regarding what they want to do with their body should be zero concern of anyone else's. I do however agree that it would hinder certain jobs based on what you look like but thats a personal choice. Absolutely! I don’t like face tattoos, because I believe they’re intimidating…. But I’ve seen some really nice sleeve tattoos, and my own son, who is in the airforce, he has a sleeve tattoo. It’s of old English armour, with chain mail. Incredibly clever. He is a decent, kind, intelligent and moral man. I’m sure your son is too. A small tattoo in a 'discreet' place on the body can be charming. But I find tattooed arms and legs and neck and chest and face quite disgusting and downright ugly. Just my opinion.
