I just got mine today Bobby. Mine does not seem to have plastic flash though. Its still a really awesome piece. And for the money u pay, the amount of diecast and size of this thing is great. I have to say though, I love him even with his back kibble and he really looks like he stepped out of the cartoon. I think this is what most people want and why the buy MPs. :)
That's awesome man. I'm glad you're happy. It just doesn't have that mp finish I've come to expect. But still a great figure.
I lost it at "Combiner Wars Superion" lmaooo. That and the skits. Great review, now I just gotta wait for the slow ass shipping from Sanghai for him to get here.
I'll be honest when I transformed him the first time I was like "oh! I HAVE to get this combiner wars joke in!" Lol
One of my favorite in my collection, but also have the flash problem. I bought the repro labels for this guy, and has made a big difference. Another fantastic review.

Always thought this was going to be a white MP-10 with armor on it like the G1. I wonder how that would have came out? I can't believe he didnt come with a matrix but came with the hand to hold it. Good job Takara!

I was sitting on the fence to get him,but after waiting for your review I have decided to get him thx skullface.
He's far from perfect, but still solid and more than likely won't disappoint.
This TF action figure is very limited in the articulation department even for the time it was released. Hopefully we will get a 2.0 or a 3rd party (Fans Toys) eventually. Thanks for the review Mr. Skullface.
Had to turn to this oldie but goodie…needed some help with this those blue bottom flaps on the trailer. I do miss the days of transformation having a G1 feel to them…and you said it back than a we need grown up G1.
Your skits are hilarious. This particular one reminds me of myself and the drama that ensued on the forums because of that very infamous buttflap. I thought I was going to go crazy as well, hahaha!
Anyway, the figure turned out just fine. Another awesome review, Skullface, will you be doing FT Soar as well?
It was certainly an emotional roller coaster.
During the transformation into alt I was wondering how sausage fingers would manage putting spike and Daniel in the cab... yeah, you managed that. Great review m8, another job well done as always.

nice review Bobby, mine's on his way this week, looking forward to getting him. he's definately got that G1 feel about him in the transformation. i gave Utopia a miss and got this instead, i really can't justify spending that much, i tried though mate, i really tried lol. i would hope that Takara try their hand at making a masterpiece Metroplex.

Been a fan of the channel for about six months or so and been back into collecting for about 2 1/2 years as an adult, since collecting as a kid. And I gotta say... after discovering figure reviews on youtube as well as the whole figure collecting scene, THIS is the real thing. THIS channel man. Its funny how after getting into a scene for a while, you begin to see the different levels of it and peoples sincerity. Its kind of like being into punk rock in high school and noticing who was in it for the real reason and who was in it for the fashion... ANYWAY, what im trying to say is, FORGET all the sell out figure reviewers who are sponsored and give nothing but positive feed back to keep the companies happy..I appreciate your channel as an adult another adult collector, and I LOVE how your channel is such a slap in the face to all these dudes just making money off it. This channel keeps our hobby alive man (and keeps the plastic crack addiction going strong! haha). Its like a true underground, hardcore figure nerd channel hahah. Thanks for showing me that's theres other social skill having, normal, married, not living in their moms basement, COOL nerds out there. Awesome review. Used it for reference rather than decipher japanese instructions. And i too have the forearm scoring. The butt flap gives him the tails tuxedo look. I'd have him over for dinner. Dinner conversation would be shit but worth it. Eager for Soar review. Mine came with Magnus. Hail FansToys!!

I got the Grimlock reissue not so long ago, and it also has them big flash marks in many visible places. Some reviewer said the original MP08 didn't have them... I can't confirm that though. After watching this, I grabbed MP10 and his are either sanded or shaved off in a way that the plastic doesn't look screwed up and it looks fine. Those ugly marks are not a deal breaker for me unless they are too big or something, but it kinda sucks cuz you can clearly see they stopped caring for that for whatever reason... anyway... I had to choose between good old Ultra Magnus or Star Saber... I hope my bet on the not so short lived leader pays out.
Exactly!!! It's not a deal breaker, it just shows a lack of pride in the product.
I agree with the roller coaster feeling on this. The price they dropped down to match stax!!!

Glad to see im not the only one noticing a decline in the MP line. I hope the line continues and improves. I am dissapointed in Magnus but also pleased at the same time. My personal wants from the MP line is the feeling i get when i look at mp10 and mp9 especially. I know mp10 has extra details to him but i see the cartoon character stairing back at me. MP9 truly feels like he walked of the screen and into ur lap. Mp22...hes like the girl you took to prom...not the one you wanted but good enuff! :)

The flash on mine is not bad in fact this is my fav mp fig compared to mp rodimus, mp05 and over half the seeker with horrid tail fins that pop off when Ya look at them lol . Agree with the but flap one extra hinge would have been perfect. I like your honesty man I really do

I'm really conflicted now. I have been salivating for an MP Magnus for so long, but now that he's here i look at my old G1 and this doesn't seem to add as much as i expected. I think you said it best. Not sure i still want to spend my $180 i saved up.
And now we have the IDW version coming and he looks sexy too. Do i need both? Ugh, i think i need the number for your fake therapist :)

Great review. I hope to have him in my collection one day. I think an mp galvatron or cyclonus would be nice next to him. Since I think takara has run out of seekers, bonus the cone heads, I wonder what the next decepticon will be. Almost feels like all that is left for season 1 and 2 are combiners and triple changers. What do you think mp tracks will bring?

Ha on Superion, I just got him and yes he is a bit lanky but hopin a third party is gonna fix that. Agreed on Magnus, he doesn't seem as refined as a usual masterpiece but I still want him. I am gonna try and wait for the Hasbro release if they do it.
I assume they will. With no licensing issues it seems like a no brainer

I should really open mine up today. I had a problem with another item I got int he same order with BBTS. should make sure everything else is in good shape. And because I want to play with the butt flap really bad. Oh the joys!

I still have not gotten this yet. I wonder if I still should or wait for someone else or a KO. With a ko I can customize the coloring better. No waist swivel either..... I mean Fts Jetfire has no swivel but I'm still getting it. I'll wait one more year.

U know I'm pretty harsh on kfc, they can eat the bones. But v2 legs r just rock solid. It's not a rumor, I wouldn't lie 2 u. I never messed w/ v1, but I have 2 near stores tht sell import tak/3rd party & I messed w/ Stack & was impressed so I bought him. I got lucky there, but don't worry Unique Toys Mania King'd me for my trouble. I'll mess with MP UM when I get a chance. I feel like he'll be better than Stack (& I would of bought UM if available then) but Stack is good enough if you had him already for me at least. I've convinced myself I need a g1 mint or new Trypticon for some reason & some version of Fort Max that is somewhat in scale with Tryps. I decided they'll battle at my house since all I ever rmbr is Metroplex carrying around Trypticon & throwing him in the water like Uncle Phil did Jazzy Jeff.
Back on topic this may be a case where a 3rd party actually hurt Takara. I'd have already bought UM if not for Stack, but for those that waited to go official it looks as if they may have had to drop his price to compete & maybe that's the flash/qc drop your seeing. Wasn't Takara mp-10 $300 at 1st? Who knows though...
Lol at the uncle Phil bit. Yea I have a review of stacks v1 and you can see what I mean, I'm glad v2 fixed that, because that was a mess! And I'm with you, Takara needs to step up their productivity of the mp line, otherwise their characters will be redundant. Like if they end up making an mp shockwave.
Bobby Skullface L imo they just have to focus on being the best, but I agree as well with productivity. I doubt they can rifle off figures at the rate 10 other 3rd party companies can. But per say if they did an MP Insecticon set it would sell if it smoked the FP set. It seems like here they dropped price to compete w/ Stack. For someone like myself who had Stack in a pose on an MP display for months is it enough to warrant a re-purchase of the UM character? Would someone like me spend the $ on a different character instead? That's what they should ask themselves. Fans ask allot myself included of Tak. Make a perfect character, be 1st, no qc issues anywhere, & make them fast like several a year. Imagine a band being pushed to drop 5 albums a year full of smash hits. It's a daunting task, so I'd just focus on MP pride & make a figure that is a work of art every time. You could argue wheeljack did just that. I'm not sure Bee or UM did. I have no doubts ppl would have bought both of Takara's if they landed 1st, but I do wonder how many bii/stack owners re-bought the characters.
Yea that's a solid point. I think we'll see the same thing with fanstoys recently announced pieces this year. I also think that you'll see a similar response if tak would offer say... A mp shockwave after the quakewave figure.
How secure are the panels that hold the shoulders to the body? They seem like the might disconnect easily. Is this the case?
They're fine. They will on tab but it's not obnoxiously excessive.
I see that panel (left connect of body to shoulder) swings out frequently in your video as you hold on to the arm to manipulate the shoulder, that does not seem the same as how you have described it in your response here. Is there another reason why that apparently loose panel flops open frequently in your video?
Yea. In the video (which I had to rewatch for you lol) the blue piece tabs into the white cab and back onto the blue piece. In the vid it's only tabbed into the white cab. Once properly tabbed into both its fine.

Bobby Skullface L I feel like Hasbro expects customizers to paint these toys for them. atleast that's the vibes I'm getting from them. I actually really wish they either put more effort in paint details. or they atleast include stickers.

They couldn't find a way to transform it the g1 way. Even add mp10 into the trailer.
I'm sure they could have but I think they were aiming more for the cartoon take than they were the g1 toy take.

It's a good piece. Just doesn't seem up to the standard one has come to expect from mp's

& i said it once, i'll say it again, good figure, just "pricey". Least for an MP figure, Prime wasn't 'that' pricey, but surprised for the price for Magnus....

I think he was around the $120.00 price range, I know TFSource and Amazon has different prices for the figure.
For the Takara one? Wow. My hasbro one was 120. I jus expected it to be more.
Yes, for Takara, looked on Amazon and they say it's $222.00, so I could be mistaken.
