I wonder what they would've done if there were a bunch of no's and boo's in Hall H when they revealed him. Would they have pulled the plug on the idea and canceled all the contracts to rethink the story?
2 other options..... 1. Howard had a secret family in Latveria that he denied. The mother and son lived a poor, harsh life. Victor looks just like Tony and hates it. He tries to experiment on his face and gets the metal mask stuck to it. Boom! Dr Doom. 2. When Tony snaps his fingers with the stones. He made another wish. That if he was ever needed again he would return from the dead more ruthless and aggressive. And anyone that tried to stop him would face Doom. Marvel send me a check. 5% is cool.

Many saw it as bold to also cast him as Tony in the first place. Remember, he was coming out of his alcohol and drug abuse. He was a persona non grata because of his past. They took a shot and it paid off by the thousands. I think they will definetely make it work. Somehow. With Deadpook & Wolverine, the Multiverse opens up many doors.
I've seen some speculation that it refers to the whole "suit of armor around the world" goal. So Doom's objective will probably be about saving the world or something like that, but he'll go about it in a villainous, brute force kind of way like with Thanos. In the Secret Wars comics, the different universes were colliding and destroying each other. Doom solved it by basically fusing everything into one world called Battleworld, where he ruled as its god. I imagine something similar will happen.
I hear you. But i think at this point. Its insane to think they have anything resemebling a plan. It just comes off as they're trying to salvage this saga as best they can and move on
Yeah but rdj is here to fill in for Kang in the next movies he probably won't be doing doom after secret wars. It's oblivious he going be some variant of stark or doom. I'm for it can't complain before I see it
I'm down for this. The armor around the world line always stuck with me. Would also love a plot where 616 avengers meet RDJ Doom and think they know what he's capable of, while 616 F4 think they know him as well.
I like your alternate timeline theory. It gets people thinking. Doctor Doom is such a forgotten character in modern media nowadays, when he's such a GOOD character. Seeing RDJ bring justice to this supposed alternate Doc Doom would be amazing to watch
They referred to him as Victor Von Doom in the announcement-- he's not going to be Tony in and capacity. He's going to play both for one paycheck, essentially
“Same task” is believably delivering yet another very complicated character who wears a mask. RJD is a fantastic actor. He’ll deliver. But can hardly wait to see Dr. Doom doing his thing in the big screen!
I agree, I think there is no way they get RDJ to come back if RDJ didn’t like the idea and if this wasn’t part of a solid plan. I mean I saw reports about RDJ coming back as Doom weeks before the announcement at SDCC. So I think this has been the plan for a while or at least since the situation with Jonathan Majors. I think this has been in the works longer than people think and isn’t just a desperate ass pull.
This is why I wait for your videos! I had such a weird reaction to the announcement. I had all these theories running through my head but you've made sense of them, thank you!!
Honestly I think it just comes down to the simple fact that you need an actor of RDJ's caliber to adequately portray such an iconic villain as Dr. Doom. Especially since Marvel seriously dropped the ball by not establishing the character in any way and they need to do a spectacular speed run back story before the 2 Avengers movies so the audience is invested in Victor Von Doom as much as they are for Thanos or even Loki. Given the special effects/CGI possibilities available now, I'm not worried about Victor Von Doom looking and sounding suspiciously like Tony Stark. Also having the Russo brothers directing is another smart move, they have proven that they can handle multiple characters and Secret Wars is going to dwarf Endgame by far on that.
Cillian Murphy could've easily filled that role, he's just as skilled an actor as Tony and has a wider range of characters he's played. Hopefully he gets the Doom casting for the next saga, since we know Doom sure as shit ain't gonna be one and done after this saga
@@jarrettmaynard6306 Absolutely. Casting RDJ as Doom because "we need a star" is the height of B.S. Cillian Murphy would've been a great choice for a younger Doom. If they wanted someone RDJ's age, cast Predrag Bjelac, or Nikola Djuricko, or Misha Collins or Tobias Menzies. For that matter, get Jason Isaacs on the phone! Holy hell would he be a brilliantly charming, terrifying Dr. Doom! Or if they were going for a bit younger, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Tobias Santelmann, even I bet Michiel Huisman could've done a great turn at making Doom a fully-fleshed out villain.
I have a feeling they might touch on the fact (in later comics) that Tony Stark is not the only child of Howard Stark. There’s a story line where Arno Stark is revealed as the child of Howard and Maria; after complications he was tucked away and etc…. Tony was adopted.
When RDJ was shown as Dr. Doom. I already assumed that we would be an alternate universe version of Tony Stark, who changed his name to Victor Von Doom, and took the role of Dr. Doom with the same task that 616 Tony had, just taking it in a more villainous way.
In Endgame they intentionally left in that haunting line: "When you mess with time it tends to mess back. YOU'LL SEE." Tony knew something that nobody else did and it's extremely unclear when he might have learned it. Now, it's possible that he was just letting slip that he always knew Cap was going back for Peggy and had been watching everything from the background. But I think there's a bigger story there and always has been; we are maybe just getting to see it now. Also: That "Baxter Building" looked an awful lot like the top portion of Avengers Tower!
What if they do the body swap angle and Doom is actually Cillian Murphy but Tony is trapped in his body. Cillian Murphy acting as Tony Stark would be wild
I personally hope they drop the idea of 'anchor beings'. Paradox could have been lying about that to manipulate Deadpool, which went sideways for Paradox as we saw. That way the various universes can more organically be whatever they need them to be story-wise. Basically, 'anchor beings' is a concept that could be more of a plot hole than anything useful if you start applying that concept into every other story.
RDJ isn't playing an alternate Tony Stark. Joe Russo explicitly said "the one person who could play VICTOR VON DOOM." RDJ is playing Victor Von Doom, NOT Tony Stark. There is a world where there is no Tony Stark, and that is the Fantastic 4 world.
I guarantee you that they change dr dooms back story and he's not even gonna be named Victor which will piss alot of people off. But he's gonna be a tony stark variant that goes evil because of how things turns out in his universe Guaranteed.
What makes more sense, and will be easier to explain, is that after the Snap he becomes Doom. Or reborn as Doom, because im pretty much sure we will be getting an Origin story for Victor Von Doom. A Good explanation for the effects of the Mind, Soul, Time, Power and Reality stone being pushed by a lesser human being.

Instead of feeling bad about the destruction his weapons have caused he becomes radicalized and believes that he is the only one who can fix the world and everyone else is a threat to his world peace
Great. But it sounds like wat Ultron would do.
Ultron 2.0
I really hope not, I just want doom to be doom.
@@inspiritinghearts ultron is Tony in AI form lbs
would be interesting, but the Russos already confirmed that this character is Victor, not Tony
I beleive its either a variant or a Loki like moment where Tony is ripped unexpectedly from the sacred timeline and instead of a redemption arc gets a villians arc.
RDJ is gonna kill this role!
destroy it yes
in a good way
He will but it still seems cheap…

So desperate
I’m really interested to see how they tackle his character since they confirmed he’s playing Victor von Doom and not some Stark variant
I mean, to play devil's advocate, how important is a name? Can't Victor von doom be a tony stark variant?
@@3phasefaultmight as well be a stark variant with a different or changed name
@@3phasefault if his name is Victor von Doom, then no, he can’t. It would be a tremendous waste of potential as a character and completely destroyed Doom for what he is. I don’t think that they’ll go that route, though.
What about Victor Timely? And Kang? They're variants and have different names🤷🏽♂️ It's possible in my opinion
And also Qeng, Nathaniel Richards, etc.
You cookin with the last theory 👨🏻🍳
Just wanted to say. Been watching for years and I love your hypothesis and the positivity you bring EVERY VIDEO. Thanks!
This one video alone has given me hope. That What If scenario is pretty solid.
I was so glad to hear when someone brought up Gemma Chan who also played 2 roles in different Marvel movies, most often actors/actresses have 2 if not more roles of characters that are in Marvel. Chris Evans as both Johnny Storm & Captain America, Idris Elba as both Moreau & Heindall even Josh Brolin as both Cable & Thanos.
I wonder what they would've done if there were a bunch of no's and boo's in Hall H when they revealed him. Would they have pulled the plug on the idea and canceled all the contracts to rethink the story?
No one boos Robert Downey Jr
I feel like people generally likes RDJ or a fan of him, he can never be booed
Thankfully, we don’t live in that reality so there is no answer to your question.
Did you honestly think the crowd would boo him LMFAO. The haters are only loud on the internet
@@hih1951h Two magical words: what if 🙄
2 other options.....

Thank you for always being optimistic, looking on the bright side, and exploring and explaining options outside of our normal spectrum of view. I would have never concluded such options and you opened my eyes to what could be and I think it would be a very, very cool perspective to see!
If doom is behind the mask the whole time - we don’t have to worry about who’s under the mask. We get to just enjoy the performance.
Ok but you know if they're paying for Robert Downey JR. We're gonna see him more without the mask than with the mask right?
But he won’t be behind the mask the entire time.
Let the actor act they not just one character. This is their job not identity
@@justcommoncurtNo. Your assumption is baseless. It's not like he's Megan Fox and just gets cast because people want to look at him.
3:36 Too out there?!?! We just watched a movie where two characters who touched matter and anti-matter to stop the McGuffin from destroying the universe... We have crossed the line of belief long back!

casting RDJ as Doom is a bold boss move… they KNOW how “fans” will react… they KNOW it will be confusing for regular cinema-goers… they KNOW they’ll get slammed “desperate”… so they also KNOW the reason they’re doing it is gonna be 100% WORTH THAT RISK!!
dark twisted opportunities now open to them and the emotional rollercoaster audiences will experience is what Joe Russo describes as “unimaginable” - CRAZY jaw-dropping potential and i’m here for ALL OF IT!!
💥💥💥💥💥
Whatever it takes to make yourself believe this isn't the desperation move this is.
It just comes off as they're trying to salvage this saga as best they can and move on
Yup, they couldn’t stand just rehiring JM and moving on with Kang. Now they’re scrambling and spitballing ideas
Yeah but rdj is here to fill in for Kang in the next movies he probably won't be doing doom after secret wars. It's oblivious he going be some variant of stark or doom. I'm for it can't complain before I see it
"Salvage" as of the biggest franchise in history needs to be salvaged while raking in billions a year.
This is the type of energy I like, it's like they ain't hungry no more
"Tony!?"Spiderman
"Who's Tony
I have one name..... DOOM!"
Dude this is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels on here. My god you guys kill it!!
Johnny Storm changed this. Deadpool thought it was Cap. So multiple characters can see two different people
simply, there are timelines where Tony was not named Tony but it's still technically the same person
They referred to him as Victor Von Doom in the announcement-- he's not going to be Tony in and capacity. He's going to play both for one paycheck, essentially
Of all the years of following, this channel never misses.
“Same task” is believably delivering yet another very complicated character who wears a mask.
RJD is a fantastic actor. He’ll deliver. But can hardly wait to see Dr. Doom doing his thing in the big screen!
Until the Hall H announcement I thought that John Malkovich would be playing Doctor Doom.
A ton of us were convinced it was Howard Stern, he even said on a hot mic that he was recording for "Doom" and we never found out what he meant
If they make RDJ a Tony Stark variant that will assassinate the Victor Von Doom character.
This is definitely part of a plan
I'd have to agree.
I actually really like your take on it. Kind of eases my mind about the whole thing.
Always astounded by your theorizing on these things. Gives me hope for a great story to come out of all this.
This is why I wait for your videos! I had such a weird reaction to the announcement. I had all these theories running through my head but you've made sense of them, thank you!!
I hope he's not an alternative Tony Stark, just be Victor von Doom

12:16 Howard Stark figured out the element that made that arc reactor stability possible.
Robert Downey Jr. is carrying Marvel and they LITERALLY know it because of this casting
Ima be annoyed if they bring doom in for 2 movies and then he’s gone.
At 1:03 I think there might be Ryan Reynolds hiding behind the DD mask standing behind RDJ. Look at his eyes!

It's so so hard to tell, but it's hilarious 👀😂
Great job, I like your guess for the origin of a Stark Doom.
With this explanation, I haven't been this excited (or excited at all, for that matter) about a marvel in years.
RDJ should play all the avengers.
Casting RDJ as Dr Doom reinvigeorted my waing interest in the MCU. Actually looking forward to what comes next!
I could see RDJ being a badass Dr Doom. And this is a genius move. Hes going to give this character so much hype
I have a feeling they might touch on the fact (in later comics) that Tony Stark is not the only child of Howard Stark. There’s a story line where Arno Stark is revealed as the child of Howard and Maria; after complications he was tucked away and etc…. Tony was adopted.
0:02 looks like a spot for the arc reactor in the chest area🙂
bad
When RDJ was shown as Dr. Doom. I already assumed that we would be an alternate universe version of Tony Stark, who changed his name to Victor Von Doom, and took the role of Dr. Doom with the same task that 616 Tony had, just taking it in a more villainous way.
Timing. If Tony was a soldier in WW I, he'd be 60ish in the FF movie. So timeliness kinda works
_He somehow lived a villain and died a hero._
Probable the best spec script for this Doom. WoW! That could be something I want to see!
Also:
That "Baxter Building" looked an awful lot like the top portion of Avengers Tower!
What if they do the body swap angle and Doom is actually Cillian Murphy but Tony is trapped in his body. Cillian Murphy acting as Tony Stark would be wild
Okay, I really dislike the RDJ casting, but your story sounds AMAZING!!
Imagine Thanos knew Starks name because he met Doom Stark
Oh wow that hell of a thought! 👍
I'm not even mad because the actor himself never Eva had a bad role I'm actually curious to see how he plays this out
Doctor Doolittle
Thanks NR I always like how y'all break stuff down
What makes more sense, and will be easier to explain, is that after the Snap he becomes Doom. Or reborn as Doom, because im pretty much sure we will be getting an Origin story for Victor Von Doom. A Good explanation for the effects of the Mind, Soul, Time, Power and Reality stone being pushed by a lesser human being.
He’s a Stark variant
I would rather they give us the proper Doctor Doom.
I hope to god he’s not
@@anubusx Maybe they will. Just because he’s a Stark variant for one movie doesn’t mean they can’t bring in the true Victor Von Doom in another and find a way to keep him as a villain for a long time.

I like the last theory, where Kang's absence "causes" the emergence of someone to fill the gap.
But no, I don't think there was any way they dropped hints about RSJ playing Doom. This was not what they originally planned. The plan was Kang before.
Before I even watch this, Downey signed up for about a dozen picture deal and has a few more movies on his contract. Using him as Doom makes sense from a financial standpoint. Also, in the comics, Doom and Stark trade places, so I am hoping for that storyline or a version of it.
