Setting up a Bluetooth dongle on a 2020 Indian Challenger

- I wanted to be able to use CarPlay without the need for a Bluetooth head set like a Sena on a helmet. So I got a dongle that I paired with the bike and CarPlay runs perfectly through the speakers. What you will not get is Siri and phone call functions.

Thanks Man!!!! I remembered I had an older BT adaptor, same brand as what you're using, so gave it a try. My unit's a bit bigger but I now have CarPlay on my new Challenger.
Heck yeah, you are welcome!!!
Awesome. Did this exact setup tonight and it works flawlessly
Awesome, I’m glad it worked!!!!
Thank you so much for this video!! 100% works with my 2022 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse!
Ride safe 🤘🏻
Awesome. Glad it helped!
I bought this dongle and tried it on my '14 Chieftain but the Chieftain interface keeps asking for a passcode. I tried 0000, 1111 and 1234 and still it fails to connect. I wrote to iMii's support and am hoping for a solution.
Interesting, I could not find anything about a passcode. Let us know what you find out.
Well this is a great little loop hole. Thank you🤙🏽
No problem!!
I tried this but I have to turn it off and on when I start my bike. CarPlay also disconnects automatically after few mins of connection. Does it happen to you as well?
I normally turn mine off when I get off the bike and turn it back on when I want to use it. I never had CarPlay disconnect though.
Awesome video. Ty
You’re welcome!!!
I did the same thing, works great but did not know about the outlet in saddle bag, Thanks
Yeah that little plug is hidden. It’s not in the stripped down version. Pretty convenient though.
Do you have to power off the bluetooth adapter while the bike is not in use? Seems that it would draw power if you didn't. (saddlebag option)
You would not want to keep it plugged in the accessory port for a long time. I keep mine unplugged until I want to use it. I don’t ride much without a helmet 🪖 nowadays so I either use my Sena or the shockwave.
Can you clarify the install? I purchase the adapter and tried it. Did not work?
I have a 2023 Chieftain DH.
I am assuming you connect the your phone via BT, then the adapter via BT. Then Car Play should start automatically.
Connect the dongle to BT and then plug the phone into the USB port, I think on those models the USB port is in the compartment above the dash. Unless you get a wireless CarPlay adapter you have to plug it into the USB port. I have a video on that and will have a new video out with a different wireless CarPlay/android auto adapter.
Definitely appreciate you my brother
Thank you!!!
Did you make the video for those of us that have android phones?
No, it is for people that don’t wear a helmet and want to do CarPlay. If you have an android phone you need to get something like ottocast or something like that.
I have an ottocast if you want me to put a video out on it.
@TSWGarage614
That would be great thank you 😎 👊
Did you have to run phone wire to the usb on bikes cubby hole to let it work
Or no more wire from phone to bike?
Unless you have a wireless CarPlay adapter you have to have your phone attached to the USB in the cubby. I have a video for that, I used quad locks Wireless adapter but I have another one that will allow android auto. I am going to mess with that today.
Mileage sequence when to change oil or maintenance?
Looks like if you have had a 500 and 2500 mile service it is every 5,000 miles. Check this link out, if it opens for you anyway.

Thank you!!
You’re welcome!!!
Thanks for the help
You’re welcome!!
Is this a loophole for base models without navigation unlocked?
I don't know about that but it is a loophole for not having a SENA com system or something similar. Basically getting Car play without a helmet. So maybe that wold be a work around as you can use the maps on your phone. If you don't have apple car play I think you can do a software upgrade to get it if you have the RideCommand system.
@@TSWGarage614 without the CarPlay on did you have navigation unlocked on your bike?
Yeah, mine had the navigation.
when you say carplay is that andriod auto? or is it something different.
That is iPhone.
@@TSWGarage614 do you think andriod auto will work cause i like this feature
@@jorgerodriguez-mp8my From what I have read Indian is not supporting Android Auto. There is a big need for it so I am sure they will get to it at some point, but for now no.
@@TSWGarage614 im going to experiment. will get back to you. thanks for the info.
So. What you are saying is that you can walk up to the bike. Turn it on. The iPhone pairs with the bike via Bluetooth. The Dongle is either automatically paired or you have to select it from the drop down list. Once it’s paired. You get AppleCarPlay functionality on your bikes screen. To make or receive phone calls. Etc. Right ?
The dongle connects to the bike and you plug the phone into the USB port and the Apple Car play works. There would be no bluetooth connection to the phone, the phone connects via the USB port. pretty easy.
@@TSWGarage614 perfect
@@TSWGarage614 I bought exactly what you showed in your video. I have a Bluetooth headset. So I can still do that. But I think having that dongle connected to the saddlebag via the charging port enables me a bit more freedom. And reliability. Just hop on. Plug in my phone. And done. As it is, I still play music via Bluetooth through my phone. No commercials.
I tried it today. I followed each step. I had a problem. I connected the phone via the apple cord USB to the bike in the dash. I then connected the exact dongle you have to the port in the trunk of my Roadmaster. I was unable to get audio when making phone calls. I was also unable to speak to Siri. Siri icon came up. But I couldn't speak to Siri. Should I connect both the Dongle and the iPhone to the cord. ? Or Bluetooth one or the other ? Or both ? I got the prompt for Apple car play. But I couldn't press on it. Sorry, I'm confused as what to do next. All of the apple car play menus came up. Just no audio was available except music.
Do you have the newest software installed?
Hey TSW. I’ve followed your instructions a while back and this works great with one exception. If I have to access the bike settings after I have the CarPlay up and running the sound cuts out. Any suggestions ?
I'll have to try that. When you go back to CarPlay?
@@TSWGarage614 yes
Well that was a half thought of mine. I’m glad you knew what I was saying. I’ll try to look tomorrow to see if it does the same thing on mine.
@@TSWGarage614 seems to be working again I flip back and forth no issue. Weird
I found that the RIde Command is picky on some bluetooth devices. LIke my Ruroc Shockwave will cut out every once in a while but my Sena works 100%. But Indian said the only Bluetooth communication system they support is Sena. Not sure why because Bluetooth should be bluetooth.
what dongle did you use
1Mii Bluetooth 5.0 Music Receiver for Car / Home Stereo, Aux Bluetooth Adapter for Car with Volume Control Supports Hands Free Calls, 15H Battery Life smile.amazon.com/dp/B08HZ4LKT2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_XE8TCHS3DTNA72PWE8V4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Does it work with android mobile phone????
No, The ride command does not work with Android auto. Not sure why since that’s a large part of the population. I think some trick it with some wireless adapter it not sure how.
@@TSWGarage614 Thank you buddy
You’re welcome my friend!!
Look up Carlinkkit 4.0. That sounds familiar to me.
