I did this for my local gaming club here in Vancouver. We did a 15-20 person tournament and I put together narrative snippets, backstory, or just short stories, for every battle, and every round. It wound up being pretty awesome and everyone really loved it. It was a great writing exercise for me to switch between horror, war, heroic action, poetry, you name it in the same weekly writing window. Though it does get hard to figure out why 5 different colours of Space Marine are fighting each other through the climax, I think I did great. They're also too competitive for a large over-arcing map + battlefield effects, they really did want to mix narrative and pure competitive play.
I was excited to see you guys visit my home town! Glad to hear the narrative went to well. Stopping by a few times over the weekend, it looked amazing!
Fantastic time, thanks to PlayOn for the wonderful event and to everyone who attended for the great time. My first 40k excursion, and thanks to this for sure not the last!
It was sick. Didn't participate, but was at the convention. Saw the Play On Team there and they were all very nice. In person, Nick is as nice, loud and energetic as he is on screen!
You guys are absolutely killing it!! I love every video, and this just made my day and inspires me to start my Wargaming Community here in Canberra Australia.. As a young medically retired Veteran it is hard sometimes but your videos and this hobby keep me going!! Play On!!!
How I wish this would just take off, and a play on event would end up in Norway at one point. Looked so much fun. And the Steve marine just teleporting in, doing carnage😂
I got to talk to Nick the day before the event started. It was awesome, he brings such energy to everything he does and I loved chatting with him for the bit I did. Play on!
Everyone knows the right answer to what constitutes the best story and everyone goes along along with it. And everyone can enjoy everyone else's art. It's all about positivity, and we need more of that.
Didn't play but I stopped by! It was so awesome to meet the Play On team! Picked up some dice and a shirt too! Hopefully you guys throw another of these, I'd love to try playing in the next one!
This is perfect with all the secret objectives and most importantly with the spirit about it, love seeing more stuff about weaving a story and fun instead of matched play!
This looks like so much fun...really thinking to commit more to the hobby and find some groups. I enjoy the narrative part more than the meta tournament competitive stuff, though
This looks super cool - it would be even cooler if there was a video that detailed the story of the campaign (maybe not covering every battle but one that covers the ebb and flow of the campaign and the story itself)
That is absolutely epic! I wish I could have gone! I hope you plan on doing more of these, this looks so fantastic! Perhaps for next Adepticon? Do you have any documents or guides on how to run a tournament like this? I would LOVE to do something like this and would love to hear what plans and rules you put into effect!
I have been waiting to see this for what feels like months now :D Edit: That looks like it was amazing to take part in, I hope you guys get to run another event like it locally, maybe fan expo???? I should have my dwarves ready by then.
This is amazing! Is there any way Patrons or channel subscribers could see the behind the scenes rules packet so we could do something similar in our own areas?
Shout out to my friend Sage and his gorgeous blue Necrons! got to see him play in this tournament and had a great time catching up with him. It was also awesome getting to meet Nick and JT. Nick's Energy was electric!
This was the best Warhammer event I have ever been to and something that I will never forget. Thank you to everyone who attended and especially to the Plan On Tabletop guys for making it happen. Until the next time I can afford the flight over to do it again, Play On! P.S. Special thank to space marine Steve for turning up in two of my games and accidentally killing my daemon prince both times 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wish there were more Narrative events like this
Build it they will come
This tournament was so much fun!! It set the bar for all my tournaments going forward! Hope to see you all again next year!!
You lucky sausage how did you hear about this XD. Just found out and live in the u.k but would love to go
@@connorshaw-case6030 bought a ticket as soon as they announced it! :D Keep an eye out for next year's!

6:34 “the warlord titan shooting all the way across like 3 tables and killing random shi……stuff” my man had to stop himself there 😂
I feel like the chaotic nature of the event isn’t for everyone, but when you’re in for fun more than competition, oh man must it be fun!!
I was excited to see you guys visit my home town! Glad to hear the narrative went to well. Stopping by a few times over the weekend, it looked amazing!
We have watched so much of your 40k lore videos. They are great!

I wasn't part of the tournament, but I was around (wheelchair guy). lol was super awesome, and it looked like a lot of fun
I wish I was there...

Awsome guys keeping it fresh. always good to see MWG/PlayOn Tag Team
I would probably not play in any serious tournie, but a narrative one i can see myself playing in.
Wow! I would love to go to one of those kind of events someday.
This looks like so much fun...really thinking to commit more to the hobby and find some groups. I enjoy the narrative part more than the meta tournament competitive stuff, though
So fun to watch this and so happy for you guys.
That Emperor's Champion cosplay was awesome.
So cool, would live to play in a narrative tournament. Looks like a blast to be a part of!

Road trip with playon. I bet that would be fun
WOW !!!!!! you guys are the best !!!!
Love this idea! Would love to participate someday!
Good times! Wish I could play. A dice roll for the events and random cannon would be even better.
I'm so proud of these guys, representing the hobby at cons, we need so much more representations at these events 😭❤
It was awesome surprise seeing you guys there. I was the guy who bought Tycho's dice.
looks so cool, would have loved to be there!
play on looks at their community like I look at new warhammer models, with lust, passion, and excitement
