Nice tribute and chronological travels of the life and times of Cleveland's favorite son. Thank you Michael for all those times. signed "Cleveland"
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment about our hometown hero 🎸 :)
Grew up with the MSB in the Cleveland area in the 70's and 80's, much respect and love for his music.
Me too.. soundtrack to my childhood and also drove home everyday with Michael Stanley when he was a DJ on 98.5 Wncx
A few years before he passed away, I was at a the movie theater in Mentor to see Zodiac. Standing in the concession stand line. In front of me was Mr. Stanley! A woman next to him , looked at him, and asked him " don't you play on T.V.8 with Jan Jones? We both had a good chuckle about that. Very polite man , who is missed.
Love it ha …
Funny enough I met him once in a restroom and obviously I didn’t want to interrupt him doing his business..
Or follow him out the bathroom
But unfortunately I never got another chance..
Kinda wish I interrupted him in retrospect…
I used to see him at the grocery store fairly often. Love that guy. ❤
Met Michael in 2003 at a venue in Columbus. Had tickets unused from New Years Eve 1981. He signed them for me graciously and said I missed a hell of a show. This made up for it....thanks Michael!
That’s great… Love hearing so many great stories of Michael outside of Cleveland..
Thanks for watching :)
Awesome tribute. I miss Michael Stanley. I have every CD, Record, almost every cassette and 8 track tape. Yeah, it took me a long time to hunt them all down. His stuff is really hard to find. Cabin Fever is my favorite album. My Mom and Dad had Heartland on cassette, Cabin Fever, MSB, and North Coast on Record and North Coast on 8 track. They now have Heartland on CD. By the way, putting tape over the holes on a cassette makes it vulnerable to being recorded over. You want the holes uncovered or the safety tabs removed to protect it's recording. R.I.P. Michael Stanley. March 25, 1948 - March 5, 2021 🕊⚘️✝️ We all miss you, and will forever be missed.
Thank You so much for sharing your memories about Cleveland’s favorite son..
I just saw that MSB is going a 50 year anniversary show with some of the surviving members..
Very excited for that..
I totally messed up on the cassette hack..
I should of googled it instead of sharing a memory from 30 years ago ha 😂
I was thinking the same thing
That was masterfully done. Lived near Cleveland growing up when MSB was huge. Left to join the Air Force and lived away for thirty years until I retired. My bucket list concert was MSB. Just as I was planning a trip to CLE, he unfortunately passed away. Thank you for taking the time to produce this excellent tribute.
Thanks for the kind words.,
And sharing your memories of Cleveland’s favorite son :)
Well done, brought back a lot of great memories. The last time i saw M.S.B. perform, was at Ashland College in the spring of 1985.
Appreciate the kind words and enjoyed hearing your memories as well..
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.. :)
Loved the Colosseum - Blossom also . So good . We had music everywhere until the 2000’s .
Done .
Agreed 💯.. Loved the days of the Richfield Coliseum and still love going to Blossom..
Thanks for watching and commenting 🎸
Hammer damage. Christie hind. Love affair at filthys in Kent😁. Thursday night bucket night and driving home blitzed.. always made it
I worked at the richfield collision and had a beer with him new years eve years ago back stage RIP Mike
Aww no way…
I can’t believe there’s not some kind of Historical marker there..
When you think about,
not only the bands but The Cavs and The Soccer and all The Wrestling Events..
Well done...been playing his music a lot the last month...All I Ever Wanted from Heartland...so many memories here in Cleveland because of him.
Can’t believe he’s been gone 3 years already..
Thanks for sharing your memories as well :)
@@LaunchRampProductions I worked from home for 3 years starting in 2020.
Would listen to him every afternoon on 98.5 while working. Very hard once he passed. Keep up the great work!
@@Watercolor9941 Thanks Again ..Love how this so called regional band.. meant so much to so many people :)
What a great hint of memories passed for me as well.
I now live in Florida and Austin wondered what they did with the Richfield stadium property.
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching and commenting..
I believe The cuyahoga valley national park took back the property and converted it back to a meadow for wildlife..
I was there on the first night of that four night stand at Blossom. Also, don't forget the WMMS appreciation day free concert in Cleveland Stadium parking lot. There were well over 100,000 there It was pretty crazy.
GREAT tribute to someone you obviously cared very much about
Thanks for watching and saying that ..
Definitely a hometown hero of mine.. 🎸
I grew up listening to him and of course growing up in Cleveland he was a must listen to
Same here.. His music was definitely a staple in my family’s life growing up here in Cleveland..
Thanks for watching and sharing your memories :)
Yep I remember the Colsium well I saw MSB at Blossom saw other concerts at the Colsium
My HS days were WMMS The Buzzard and MSB. Richfield in 81 big group of us on NYE all lied to who’s house we were going to. Yup, we got in trouble but have that memory. Now I listen to MSB and immediately go back.
Awesome Memories!
Thanks for sharing :)
I love this history lesson. 🥰
Thank You 🤗.. I definitely grew up with Michael Stanley’s Music and drove home every night listening to him on the radio..
So retracing these steps years later was a thrill for me..
Thanks for watching :)
Great piece, but at the 14:49 mark, when you're talking about taping over the holes at the top of the cassette tape, that actually allows you to record over the tape - it doesn't prevent it. The holes allow the metal units in the cassette player to drop, prohibiting recording. Punching the tabs out of a cassette creates holes protecting the content.
Yess Definitely my mistake..
My memory of 30 years ago is not as good as I thought ha
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment :)
I was thinking the same thing. Removing the tabs protects the tape from accidentally being taped over. I had to look it up to make sure I remembered it correctly.
He went to my high school! and lived next door to a friend of mine!
Pretty cool piece here man I miss that dude I used to call the station regularly and just talk with him about music when I would request a song , and he always played my songs
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment..
I had no idea so many people
Appreciated our hometown hero as much as I did.. :)
@@LaunchRampProductions yes sir and the crazy thing is that I can kick myself for it , I never actually caught one of his concerts live , and I went to a Ton of concerts , you mentioned you saw Metallica at the Collusem I saw them too it was the And Justice For All album , I'm 55 so was able to catch some good shows back in the day , was lucky enough to see the Ramones twice haha , I think I subscribed if not I will keep the cool videos coming brother
@@alexcika9906 definitely appreciate it..
Thanks for sharing your memories my friend..
@@LaunchRampProductions my pleasure
I recall many years back when Jimmy Webb was going to play a gig in the flats at some Supper club, I called up the station and Michael talked with me about Jimmy Webb for a few minutes while he was running commercials and we shared our common affinity for the composer. Think he even played some songs written by Jimmy within the next hour or two. Yes Michael was a very gracious human being for sure. Last and only time I ever met him was while I was working at Hopkins Airport probably 2014 or 2015, and he took the time to chat for a minute or two never having met me in my life prior. He represented Cleveland well, and a man of many talents indeed!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Don't forget the Barons and Crusaders played at Richfield.
So many good memories there ..
It definitely deserves an Historical Plaque
Another good video buddy, wow a lot of driving I bet! Good stuff, keep up the great work!
Oh lord no, if you covered the holes, you could record over the tape. The pencil was only if your tape unfurled.
Correct. Knock out was a standard on any Blank recording tape. If you had removed the tab it could not be recorded over again with scotch taping the open knock out.
As a San Diego kid my first exposure was on the old Don Kirshners Rock Concert show with Joe Walsh and Dan Fogelberg. it made an impression but i never saw any of his albums until Stage Pass which, of course, immediatewly made me a huge fan, and I still play that album often.
Oh wow San Diego..
Love hearing stories like this, because it’s proof that the Michael Stanley Band was so much more than just a regional band..
Thanks for sharing :)
The video was Filmed in a shopping cart 🛒 factory in
Los Angeles.. I love this little Extra Fact !!! Great Job !!!!
Did you notice in the clock there was a heart?
“It′s 10: 35 in the heartland
Make your move or you never will”
-Michael Stanley
Great job. I loved him!
Thank You 🙏 He was Definitely a Hometown Hero
Sigh...it still hurts.
Denise was his late wife, not ex wife.
Thanks for sharing your memories of this talented man of Cleveland, he will be missed. I'd be remiss though if I didn't ask you, are you planning on something similar for the late Eric Carmen? My personal memories with Eric actually pre-date Michael Stanley as I happened to be living in Boston during the time Michael and his band were most popular. Of course, as a born and raised Clevelander (ok suburbs);-) I'm proud of them both and they will be missed by many. Again thanks for the heartfelt tribute for Michael and his family God Bless
I would definitely love to do that..
Not sure if he’s going to be buried in Cleveland or not..
But some kind of tribute is definitely warranted for such a great musician..
Thanks for watching and commenting :)
@@LaunchRampProductions Oh you are very welcome. Good question about being buried in Cleveland. The family has been very secretive about letting any news out to his fan base and general public. I'm very partial to Eric as I used to see Eric when his bands, Cyrus Erie/The Quick...played all the teen Hullabaloos in and around the Cleveland burbs: Mentor, Chesterland, North Ridgeville., and there might be one more that I'm forgetting. Kirkland?... in the late 1960s. He played the Agora many times in downtown Cleveland, even played the ski lodge Boston Mills many times...he wrote many beautiful songs, and charted many top hit records that placed in charts all over the country.
thanks and God Bless
@@brucetowell3432
Thank You brother.. I’m a huge music history buff, especially when it involves someone from our hometown of Cleveland…
@@LaunchRampProductions You are most welcome. You got that right, the musicians who made a name for themselves in our area deserve to be remembered and NOT forgotten. thanks
Great vid I need to visit Lakewood cemetery
Thank You for watching and commenting..
Hope you get a chance to visit
It’s actually called The Lakeview Cemetery :)
WOW!!! This was a four kleenexer!! Thank you so much for all the info, will definitely visit his grave. I have loved Michael since 1972, so many concerts and met him several times. RIP my friend 😥
Thanks for watching and sharing your stories of Michael Stanley.. Being from Cleveland myself it feels like we lost a hometown hero :)
Nice work. Been listening to msb a lot lately. What magnificent days those were. Wmms. Wwwm105. Such music. Msb to maggot brain to kid Leo and Friday night get down with Murray Sol. Throw in a ton of coffee break agora with Matt da kat
Akron stole all my bros properties. We rocked in high school and after. Woodridge and 100s of concerts. Rock and roll is soul there Akron stopped us from turning place into throwerland absolutely
Right? Back when bands actually played instruments and wrote their own songs..
Thanks for watching and commenting..
Love hearing everyone’s memories of the band..
My. Grandma was born on the property of the Richfield Call siam
Nice job sir
Thank You 🙏..
I appreciate you taking a few minutes to watch and say hi 👋
Actually if it wasn't for Billy Joel who casted the deciding vote to have the Rock Hall in Cleveland, it probably would have gone to New York.
That had nothing to do with it, it had everything to do with the amount of taxpayer dollars they were able to suck out of the area.
Then Coliseum was reclaimed by the Cuyahoga Valley National Park... NOT the Cuyahoga Valley Metropark. When the Coliseum was finally removed, and all of the concrete and asphalt was finally trucked out, the land was allowed to revert to its natural state. It is now part of a National Park. You might asked the National Park Service if they would allow a small remembrance..Nick Miletti never should have built that structure in the Cuyahoga Valley. The Cavs are finally downtown and the music at the Arena is much better than the coliseum although nothing MSB did compared to those nights at the old Cleveland Agora on E.24th st... Long live MSB and long live Hank...
The Cavs almost beat the bulls in first round there. A bunch of misfits played their hearts and soul our there
I wish I could find his Daughters & just be friends with them on Facebook !
3 years ago today he died, my life will never be same again.
Hard to believe it’s been that long already..
I definitely miss driving home from work with him on the radio..
Great work - horrible mural .
How many total albums sales did MSB have?
That’s a good question…
If they counted all the albums they sold out of their trunk..
They’d probably be
multi-platinum… 🎸
Cassette tapes work exactly opposite of that. The hole means you can't record.
Garfield was assinated in office. So he probably didn't come back to teach at college
True.. but I’m pretty sure He came back to teach, years before he was President..
Garfield Was teaching In his second year of college, He was a student and a teacher. Quite amazing.
Shame that wncx is completely destroyed .. the once great station is ruined by grunge music
Morbid hobby man.
