One of my favorite scenes in any movie is when Ben Stiller is being dunked in the water and is yelling "Cut, Damien cut" LMAO hes being tortured and he still thinks its part of the movie. HAHAHAHAHA

Robert Downey JR was nominated for an academy award for this movie. For real. Lol. He deserved to win.

Tropic Thunder came out in 2008, the same year as Iron Man 1. What an incredible year for RDJ. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor, but Heath Ledger won the Oscar for his Joker role. NO ONE was going to beat that performance... Tropic Thunder makes fun of Hollywood and the Studios. People understood RDJ was making fun of blackface and Method actors. "I'm a dude, disguised as another dude, playing a dude.' (RDJ, as Kirk Lazarus, as Lincoln Osiris).
He did beat that performance. As a Batman fan (comic book), I can tell you Heath Ledger did a great job playing a psychopath, but he didn't play any Joker that I know from the comic books. His death only made his role seem that much more important and better. I think Robert Downey Jr deserved the award more than him, he played multiple roles within this film.
Even now RDJ's performance is praised mainly bc it was actually funny and a spoof.
Your Forest Gump knowledge made this one so satisfying.
Even though I Am Sam was mentioned in the movie, I always saw them satiring Radio and Cuba Gooding Jr with Simple Jack.

Hi Ket & Kot!😊 This is one of my favorite comedies!😆 At the awards at the end Alpa Chino is sitting with Lance Bass from InSync. Kevin Sandusky is sitting with Jennifer Love Hewitt. He had asked Kirk Lazarus if he really went out with Hewitt and he said that was made up Hollywood stuff. Great reactions to this super fun comedy, Kids!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏 Another really fun comedy is "Happy Gilmore" (1996) with Adam Sandler!🏆
Kudos on immediately spotting Tom Cruise! In every other reaction I've seen, people only start to recognise him about half-way through. (I was even slower, and didn't recognise him until just before the end. Oh, the shame!)

Also FYI, apparently Tom Cruise based his character on Harvey Weinstein and probably several other big shot producers he has surely seen at their worst over the years. And he only agreed to do the movie if he got to dance, and also if they agreed to do prosthetics making his arms and hands look truly disgusting.

It is the movie that just brings out the most amount of laughs at itself and you can appreciate Hollywood making fun of themselves in a really talented way. I keep watching it with first reactioners and it's so funny each time. You guys are great.

Tom Cruise's best role ever.
8:30 yeah Predator was actually filmed in the jungle. The set still exists in the Mexican jungle helicopter and all. It's a tourist attraction but it is a dangerous trek to get out there.
My wife whose parents are Mexican went when she was 13. The bus driver that took them told her to be careful because "they like white girls out here" refering to cartels and traffickers.
But it is a very nice place to see!

RDJ's performance is great. As a "Black" American male I don't find his role offensive because it isn't denigrating, demeaning or disrespectful.
Plus it reminds me of many of the "Black" Men I knew in the '70s.

Robert Downey Jr. got an OSCAR NOMINATION for this (he lost to Heath Ledger, who won for playing the Joker...and you can't argue with that). So that's like, the opposite of being cancelled, almost. And really, I think he got away with it because he's not playing a black man, he's playing an Australian actor, and that actor has chosen to portray a black man. We're supposed to think it's wrong. And having an actual black actor there to be the audience surrogate, pointing out just how messed up it is, was an effective way to make it work.
Anyway, man this movie is funny. I had no idea how smart Ben Stiller truly is until I saw this movie (which he co-wrote AND directed). That takes serious talent.

Am thinking this movie had no malice in it really....probably why hasn't been cancelled. Its intent was to be funny in an innocence way. That and at its heart was a parody of itself and the hollywood machine, not a type of person....you guys really should check out "Blazing Saddles" which I think is an older movie it emulated even if not on purpose.
