Robert Downey Jr actually does do the dvd commentary in character
So dope !

@@MOONPOPPERS Thanks for ruining the reaction with your unfunny impression
@@JohnJohnson27-cs6ix no problem johnny boy 🤠
The "Fatties" preview was a spoof of Eddie Murphy's Nutty Professor movies in which he plays most of the characters who happen to be obese.
I've not seen one reactor realize this. I'm either old or those movies haven't aged well since no one seems to be watching them
@@nihlify I haven't watched the Nutty Professor movies since I was a kid.
To be fair though I haven't watched most of Eddie Murphy's movies since I was a kid.
This movie is a parody of Hollywood. Scenes from apocalypse now, deer hunter, mission impossible, saving private Ryan, Indiana Jones, platoon etc
That’s so funny !
Yeah, unfortunately many people watching this movie don't know the other movies and themes that are being spoofed and don't get it. Additionally, there are a lot of references that they don't get beyond movies, like the Tropic Thunder book "it's kind of my Cather in the Rye", missing the whole John Lennon assassination reference.
RDJ is a legend for this, ironman is cool too i guess
"Im dave beckham
The guns are real and can shoot real ammunition. Their just shooting blanks. Which is a casing with powder in it but crimped at the end with no bullet put in it. So it makes the same sound as firing a gun but there's no bullet there to shoot out. I do love y'all's reaction to the movie.
It's odd to hear a mere 16 years ago referred to as "a different time"
That's an indication that you are getting old!
@@blanketstarry7725 Maybe. But would it sound right if someone said "Long ago in 2008..."?
@@LeviAckerman-cb5ji to my 9 year old daughter, that would sound right!
@@blanketstarry7725 Yes it would...to a 9 year old.
It wasn't that long ago but people changed
Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise killed it in this movie!
Facts!
I saw this movie in theater and I didn't know Les was Tom Cruise til the end credits either! 😂 My jaw dropped and ya there's some great behind the scenes. His interviews talking about the character are great.
The Tom Cruise dance at the end was crazy! lol
lol so funny!
My stepdad and I saw this together in theaters. He legit asked me if I had seen "bust a nut" out at concessions 😂
Most of the criticism of this movie was over Simple Jack and not much was said about Robert Downey Jr in black face because he's actually a character playing a character in black face
No they dont have panda's in Vietnamm. They were in Vietnam but then they got the bright idea to "get in the shit" and took a helicopter to most likely Myanmar whre they do have panda's and speak Mandarin(which is what flaming dragon was speaking).
Top 5 comedy.
So funny !
also there is tell tale signs it's tom cruise once you know like he never changed his voice really, and his eyes.
They're real guns just shooting blanks

If you are stupid enough to believe the narrative
Robert Downey Jr's extras for this movie are amazing. Also he really did stay in character for the DVD commentary. Here is one of the extras ua-cam.com/video/W4ubqCMsTo4/v-deo.html and here is the DVD commentary with Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr (as Lincoln Osiris) ua-cam.com/video/ZBbNtPyt910/v-deo.html
LOL real trailers huh? Only if Ben Stiller's real name is Tuk Speedman, and Jack Black's real name is Jeff Portnoy. Those should have been the big Clues
“Why he sound like Thor” “Loki”😉😏
Best opening lol first time fans get to see Tom cruise humor u get to see that
Great reaction y’all, every time I watch a reaction to this movie I crack up. 😂😂😂👏👏
lol thanks !!!
Seeing this in theaters it was real trailers straight in to the fake trailers, but they kept the house lights on until the Dreamworks logo so it was a particularly bizarre movie intro. RDJ's amazing (got nominated for the Oscar but lost to Heath Ledger's Joker), but Tom Cruise was largely responsible for the characterization of his role - there's a great BBC Radio interview that touches on it ("tom cruise tropic thunder interview" should find it easily).
Always harder for black actors at the Oscar's
tom cruises assistant looks familiar cause that's bill hader btw.
also i've always thought it'd be fun if reactors would react to the commentary lol RDJ was gold in that
Surprisingly enjoyable reaction

Having previews before a movie for the home movie market was a big thing during the VHS period but once the market switched to primarily DVD they ditched the previews because everyone would just skip straight to the movie and so it became more of a cost to include them and not so much of a revenue generator. The theater release still do previews because its a captive market guaranteeing views for everyone in the theater on their ads so it makes a return on their investment
Tom cruise Come back movie after All the mess in the 90s and 2,000s
Guns are real rounds are blanks.
Love the background new subscriber 🎉 would love to see you guys take on the scream franchise
Thanks you ! Glad to have you! And Oooo we want to watch those films !
Wrong. Real guns, fake bullets 😉
imagine they would make a whole MOVIE out of fake trailers.. id watch it .
They would be so funny lol
Candy powder?!!!
Great reaction! P.S. I saw this movie in theaters and ALSO didn’t recognize Les Grossman was played by Tom Cruise until the credits 😅 Fun fact: Apparently, Cruise had two core demands for the character: “fat hands” and “dancing”
lol that’s crazy !!
Did you two chug a pint of cough syrup before you watched this?

one of the funniest movies ever
Fun reaction, but the ladies mic is a bit to close, her laugh is peaking the audio.
Sorry we will fix that in future videos
In 2008 they were thinking "This is hilarious, so why wouldn't we make it?" The fact that our youth's default today is "Let's first make sure NOBODY gets offended" is beyond pathetic. That's the death of art.
Excellent movie! The reactors...not so much, kind of annoying, I had enough after 15 minutes.
Actually, I am more curious about what people the hell people are thinking *now* - all this cancel culture and thin-skinned offensive posturing... it is only comedic satire that actually illustrates the ludicrous nature of such people that do such a thing in earnest! 😊

There is no reason not to make something like this today just like Dave chappelle I don't give a damn about All these sensitive people who are the minority They don't understand Comedy Is talking about the outrages and stereotypes That stupid people can't understand.. This type of comedy Is for intellectuals... The ones who would laugh at something like this and not get offend
Classic comedy! I gained a LOT of respect for Ben Stiller after seeing this, because he co-wrote AND directed this film. I had no idea he was that talented. And believe it or not, *Robert Downey Jr. was actually nominated for an Academy Award (Best Supporting Actor) for his performance.* He lost out to Heath Ledger, who won for his portrayal of the Joker (posthumously, of course, RIP), but it speaks volumes that this particular role was seen so highly (and honestly, I do think Ledger deserved to win, but it was close). 2008 wasn't that long ago, my dudes. People got cancelled for far less, even then. But I think audiences saw a distinction between a white actor playing a black character, and a white actor playing a white actor playing a black character. It's intended as commentary on how out-of-touch Hollywood stars are with respect to their behavior, and how the whole system is set up to let them get away with all kinds of unacceptable stuff because they are creating fortunes for the studios. This movie got far more flak for "Simple Jack" than it did for RDJ's myriad shenanigans (although even that was mostly seen in a similar light..."never go full retard" actually became one of the first mainstream memes). People aren't stupid - they can tell when you're doing something because you have a legitimate point to make, vs. doing something mean-spirited (for the purposes of denigrating black people, or the disabled).
Also, Tom Cruise's participation in this movie was a closely-guarded secret. Many people (including myself - I saw this in theaters just a couple weeks after it premiered) had no idea it was him playing Les Grossman until the credits (due to the fat suit, furry arms, and massive hands). I still rank this as possibly his best role ever (because he is so typecast as the "action star" kind of guy, being REALLY frickin' funny is incongruous to the usual Tom Cruise experience...which actually adds to the humor). Also, that explosion at the end, where Ben Stiller is running across the bridge as it explodes behind him, is a parody of Mission: Impossible.
Robert Downey Jr and Tom Cruise stole this movie!!
Why he sound like Thor?...Loki 😂😂😂 idk if y'all caught that lmao. 10:13
