@@r.j.standridge8411 I definitely know of one Mack superliner with an 8v92 it's fully restored and lives of all unlikely places to find such a thing in Lancashire England.
My first brand new truck was an 87 Superliner. It had an E9 like that with a Mack 18 and a Spicer 4+4 behind it. Used it for heavy hauling and would walk all over most anything else back then. 72 forward and 16 reverse was almost like theft deterrent:)
One of our estimators at work, when he was a driver for a company called Press Express, that is what they had for their heavy haul trucks. He said the exact same, they would drive up the hills like nothing when a lot of the others struggled. He also said they never ever had problems with them either because everything was over built. Drivelines were something you would put in a mine truck or something like that, just heavy duty on everything. Apparently it made the difference not being in the shop for broken parts. He also had his own truck as an owner operator and drove them all. The Mack was the favorite out of all of them.
@@Rareoldtrucks Spicer built auxiliary transmissions for specialty applications through the ‘70s and ‘80s that bolted directly to the tail shaft of the main. When I ordered mine, I could have gotten a 2,3, or 4 speed. If UA-cam let you post pictures, I would show you the build sheet and a few pics of it.
My dream truck right there, I'd take that over any other truck ever made ever. These things are beyond cool they are legendary! I adore old Macks like this :)
Check out some of the Australian Mack Superliners one that was recently rebuilt and is back working pulling 3 trailers outback it's possible the best Superliner it's black and has had the cab raised by 300mm or 12inches check it out if you are into Mack's you will be impressed and it's a real working truck still going harder than the new
I have family in Kenyon minnesota and my dad has owned nothing but Mack's and our neighbor who pretty much was his mentor in his younger days was a mack guy who has had many of them over the years great video!
I drove 1 pulling pneumatic tankers & definitely no problems being in left lane pulling hills and made ya feel like a MONFORT truck letting the legs stretch! ride was awesome.
I just got gifted a 78 k100 all original with 113000 miles!! When I get it going and we ever meet at a show ide like you to stripe it. it has the original Georgetown red white gold and black paint schemes
My dad used to push trucks for an oilfield company and the winch trucks was R700s with a V8 Detroit and they had 5 and 4s in them. I love the look of them 700s. And Mack trucks had a cheap hollow sound when you shut the doors but they were the toughest trucks built.
love your channel but this is the coolest truck you have ever had on and it has to be one of the rarest with that sleeper it dam near might be a one of a kind awesome find! i drove a 83 superliner for a couple years and that big hood is the coolest thing ever to drive!
I hope to own a Mack Superliner one day soon. Just incredibly well built trucks that look better, sound better, and run better than anything made today. Too much plastic junk and EPA crap on the new rigs. The old trucks actually run like a diesel is supposed to run. I want the Mack E9 engine as well, such an awesome powerhouse. Badass superdog! With a little TLC and some elbow grease, that paint could be brought back and the dog would look even better. I wish I owned it, I'd have the paint professionally restored and probably switch it to LED chicken lights.
Paint it green and I’d think it was the truck I drove for a few years lol mine had the same sleeper and stacks. Only truck in thirty years it’s the only truck pulling onto any private scale I had to stick my head out the window to know where I was. Better hope the hood ornament didn’t come off cause it took everything you had to open the hood even opening it at the side. I referred to the hood as a pool table and it made a great place to stretch out and relax on lol
Porter greetings!🇺🇸 I’ve always liked the old Mack’s & especially those Eagle Sleepers! I looked at a GMC General that had the Eagle sleeper on it years ago & almost bought the truck. It was one sweet looking rig. It didn’t have a motor or tranny in it but the rears had already been gone through. One of those things that, if you look back that you would’ve bought it, a hindsight kinda thing! 😳 Love the old trucks ! This one seemed to be in the wrecked/repair section of the yard. Good stuff! Hope they still use it from time to time or maybe will have it up for sale. 🥰😎✌️
Woww, they are becoming very rare to see a super Dog like that That is a Nice one , My uncle still has his the very same specs Black and green stacks are situated on cab ,
“This is on private property,I do not have permission to open doors and hood,i respect other people’s property “ immediately proceeded to opening all the doors😅😅
A Super Puppy with a V8? I'm in love. It's ashamed that she's not out on the road. Although it looks like she's been cared for what with the wheels and tanks looking good. My friend had a 72 R600 which they used the same cab for on the Superliner.
Looks like a double eagle sleeper. I had a 1983 superliner with one on it . I had it put on at the factory . I still remember then telling me to be there at 5 am and they would install it in one day . So I pulled in there yard early and I thought they lied to me . It looked like no one was there . Not a car or pickup in the parking lot. I drive around back and try a door , it's open and about 30 Amish guys were already there working . HaHa. No cars .
My dad (God rest his Soul) had an 85 Superdog with the E9 500 with a Maxitorque 9 Speed Transmission. Back then he could blow the doors off anything on the road. They actually dynoed it at around 700 hp. Mack was known underrating the horsepower on their engines.
It's either a double eagle(went out of business about 10 years ago),or it could be an able sleeper, which supplied mack with the original equipment sleepers. They were built(able) in Missouri(I think Springfield).
What a beauty , I ran a 84 super liner wrecker for years very similar to that one but it had an e6 350 and a eaton 13 speed new way air ride , was a damn good truck !
We make sleeper cab ourselves for Mack in Iran . I reckon it is the case for this truck too. Some really professional body shop seem to have made this sleeper cab
I knew that Superliner had a V8 as soon as I saw the angle of the gear shift lever! I only ever drove one Super/V8 and even though I'm not a Mack guy it was still a really cool truck! Judging by the grease on the fith wheel I'd say this gal hasn't been parked long.
I started out on a 76 Mack straight dump truck had the 237 Mack with the 2 stick 6 speed. Then I moved up to a 66 Mack ( both R models) same 237 with the Mack Quadraplex ( 5 and 4) tractor and 28 foot dump trailer. It wasn't fast at 2100 RPM it only ran 64 MPH ( in 1978 the maximum speed limit was 55. ) it was a good dependable truck rode rough no power steering. No A/C . Drove the R, RW, ( Superliner) and CH . All good trucks, the CH had a great heating and A/C system Were much better trucks than today. The government is responsible for our trucks being so undetectable, the DEF, and Particulate Filters give way too many problems. All in the name to satisfy environmentalists. I've drove Macks over the years and never had any problems with them they got the job done I spent less time in the shop than I did with the KWs

It had a 18 speed and a 4x4 spicer? Or a 4 speed auxiliary behind the 18 speed? Little confused about this.
@@Rareoldtrucks I would imagine its an 18 with 4spd auxiliary. All our current heavy spec trucks have this setup.
