"For Crying Out Loud", "Objects in the Rearview Mirror", "Bat Out of Hell" and "Life is a Lemon" are must listens!
Bat out of hell yes please
Love "Life is a Lemon"
Yes Yes Yes and Yes.
“Life Is A Lemon (And I Want My Money BacK)” is very underrated. 👍🥂
Agreed, these are amazing so is Out of the Frying Pan, Read em and Weep, All revved up and no place to go, Everything Louder than everything else and Dead Ringer, lol
The guy at the beginning is the genius that wrote these songs! The late great Jim Steinman. They passed away within months of each other.
Their concerts were freaking amazing.
Jim Steinman was the man! I used to play some of his solo stuff on college radio when I could play anything I wanted. Good times!
I've got nothing but respect for both of them, but the intro on the album is so much better. For that reason alone, I'd like to see people react to the audio version only. Regarding that intro, it definitely appeals to and is understood by certain groups of people. I loved it when I first heard it, and still do. But it always catches people off guard.
I think we're all down for you to react to Rocky horror picture show if you really want to blow your mind😂
I second that!
I think he would hate it 🤣
Hot patatotie!
Bat out of Hell will absolutely floor you and Meatloaf himself declared For Crying Out Loud the greatest love song ever written. You definitely need to check those two out next.
Offering your throat to the wolf is a sign of trust and courage, as the wolf's nature, is to tear out your throat and kill you for food. Similar to Dashboard "does he love me?" then I'll take the rose.
Yeah, I USUALLY really like BP’s reactions but this was such a tasteless and childish interpretation of a beautiful song. Needs to get out of the rap mind and reach a little farther.
You’re right
Meatloaf considered himself an actor who could sing....and his performances were really him playing a character, acting out a scene ....and like great acting scenes, it leads up to a climactic, cathartic buildup!.....He had a very unique talent!
His movies were awesome! He was an actor...
Like Ren 😎❣️
Meatloaf, king of rock opera. He is an actor first and loves to tell a story. I had the honor of seeing him in concert once, it was a show of a lifetime. The best concert and also Broadway level entertainment.
Next stop... Bat out of Hell, video version. I grew up in the very best music generation ever.
I am 40, I thank my dad all of the time for introducing me to his music. I even had him buy me Bat out of Hell and Bat out of Hell II for Christmas one year!
Me too, im 56 now, and 60'-80's were the best years for Music
@@reginaldbygrave759 I am 59 years old and I agree about the 60's through 80/s music.
For Crying Out Loud - best love song ever!!!
O doubt been saying that for years!
No doubt..😂😂
I agree 100%.
Jim wrote from his heart and Meatloaf sang it with every fiber of his being
🎵💜🎶💜
Yes and “Heaven Can Wait”
That would be Thank you by Led Zeppelin
Before he became a rock icon, Meatloaf's background was as an actor in stage productions and musical theater. Of all the actors they auditioned for the role of Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), he was the only one who could sing all the words to the character's signature song, "Hot Patootie," which won him the role. He not only had an intuitive sense for the music, but also a passion for performing. This is what first brought him and songwriter Jim Steinman together in 1973, and led them to become musical collaborators with "Bat Out Of Hell," and its sequels.
For Crying Out Loud!!! BANGER!!
The guy who was talking to the girl in the beginning
His name is jim steiman
He wrote all the lyrics and music to the Whole Is album
It's unfortunate that they changed that intro for the video. The album recording was so much better, imo.
@@cassianfalkener3706 I agree , in the video he sounds over dramatic and it sounds forced. The album sounds more natural and conversational.
I said this before but I really love your reactions. I'm a 71 year old white woman and privileged to grow up with the best music. You need to react to Dusty Springfield beginning with Son of a Preacher Man.😊
Oh man. I forgot about this song!!! Yes. Id love to see BP reaction to that!
Would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses is about putting your trust in someone dangerous just because he charms you...
Nailed it!!!
You need to listen to the entire Bat out of Hell album.
1. Bat out of Hell
2. You took the words right out of my mouth
3. Heaven Can Wait
4. Heaven Can Wait
5. Two Out of Three Ain't Bad
6. Paradise by the Dashboard Light
7. For Crying out Loud
Ooo for crying out loud! I forgot about that one. Yes please check that out.
Bat out of Hell was made into a Musical, was on Broadway for years. Meat Loaf always loved to get into character for each of his songs. RIP
It was only on Broadway (or rather, 'off-Broadway' as it wasn't actually on Broadway) for a few months - starting in September 2019 before the Covid lockdowns happened and then never returned. Surprisingly, the musical was never that popular in North America (a US/Canadian tour was abandoned after only a month or two, and a LA production was also cancelled).
It was far more successful in the UK where it debuted in 2018 and ran until last year (apart from a Covid lockdown gap). I saw it 3 times in the UK - twice in the West End (London) and once on tour in Stoke. All were sold out, as I believe pretty much every show in the UK was, and I believe the West End return after Covid broke box office records. It was honestly the best musical I've ever seen, and if it were to start up again I would definitely go see it again.
Extensive footage of the shows can be found on UA-cam and some are well worth watching to appreciate how good the show was.
Yes! No one ever does Meat Loafs "other" songs! This is one of my favorites!!
A literal wolf would go for the kill at the throat. This wolf as red roses in his teeth. He is asking her if she trusts him completely.
Oh I miss albums that were a complete story, lyrics, music and wonderful!
Rush 2112 album is like that.
OMG! I just can’t believe someone finally reacted to Meatloaf!!! I’ve always wanted to make this request but didn’t think that anyone would actually do it!!! THANK YOU! More please!
There’s lots of reactors that’ve covered MeatLoaf (and were much more informative & classier reactions). His mind is too set in degradation rap.
Search Meat Loaf reactions. The Charismatic Voice has done a few too.
@@user-gc1cp1xp5i thank you
I saw Meatloaf in 1978. The concert was pretty much like this footage. The whole Bat Out of Hell album was fantastic from start to finish. You could react to the entire album and be blown away
It is best start to finish.
"For Cryin' Out Loud" is epic.
The entire Bat Out of Hell album is amazing!!
Omg I was in tears watching your stunned face when he said "I bet you say that to all the boys"...however, he wasn't referring to her sticking her tongue down his throat to steal his words, he meant she said "I love you" when he was about to say it first
You have GOT to see Bat Out of Hell and Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through (you'll see a familiar face there)
I can't believe he Misty. I love you part
Meatloaf is just 🔥
You may have noticed that Meatloaf isn't exactly the leading man type. But he performed some of the most beautiful love songs ever. --- Courtesy Jim Steinman. A once in a lifetime collaboration.
You know how rare it was to buy an album back then and every song was perfect ? You could just put it on and listen until it stopped ! Perfection
Wish everyone had had the chance to see meatloaf in concert. He put on a great show, even when he was older. Loved his fans. RIP Meatloaf.
"Would you offer your throat" was referring to the outside of her throat (her neck). Think hickey. It was also more in reference to a more fantasy situation, like a werewolf or vampire. Not sticking your tongue, or anything else, down her throat. When viewed from that perspective, all the other lines in the intro make more sense. "How much do you love me?" "More than life itself." "Would you give your life for me?" "Yes." "I bet you say that to all the boys..." 😂
The guy who wrote all the meatloaf songs you heard so far are by a musician and songwriter named Jim Steinman. Other songs he wrote are Total Eclipse Of The Heart by Bonnie Tyler and Making Love Out Of Nothing At All by Air Supply. You should check them out. If you close your eyes you can almost hear Meatloaf singing them.
There was nobody else like Meat Loaf, he is deeply missed. You really need to check out some of his stuff he did later in his career. He matured somewhat, but his live performances were still fantastic. A good one to experience is his live version of "I'd Lie For You And That's The Truth." Check out the live video where Patti Russo is wearing the red dress (Patti was a longtime performer with Meat Loaf and sang the girl parts on albums starting with the album "Bat Out of Hell 2). Anyway, you will love this performance.
"For Crying Out Loud", "Objects in the Rearview Mirror" are my two favorite Meatloaf songs.
Not a dry eye in the house. One of his biggest underrated songs
Ok i have to say it, I love watching your facial expressions during the reactions, especially anything meat loaf😂
The video, as with "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad", "Paradise by the Dashboard Light", and the others in the "Bat out of Hell" set, was filmed on a soundstage as if it were a live performance, with Meat Loaf in his signature suspenders, ripped formal shirt, and bearing a red scarf.
He’s should see the video that goes with all his songs ❤
The man at the beginning and keyboard player was Jim Steinman who wrote almost every song Meatloaf ever recorded
"For Crying Out Loud" is great.
I love "If Life is a Lemon . . ."
I love all his work. He has done some great acting. You cannot go wrong with ANY OF HIS SONGS!😊❤
I met him at FanX, he was such a kind, humble man, when he was just being himself. He is greatly missed.
I LOVE THE LOOKS ON YOUR FACE, PRICELESS!
😊❤ Hi! This song and the others you mentioned are all part of the 'Bat Out Of Hell' album. The title song is the first one. It is a concept album basically about prom night. That's why he is wearing the tux shirt in the live performances. You are absolutely correct that it has a story line, from one song to the next. You won't find a bad song in his catalog!! RIP Meat and Jim! 😇 Gone too soon. Luv ya!! 😊❤❤
Meat Loaf was a mega singer. But the songwriter was a musical genuis. That's Jim Steinman, talking in the intro of the song and playing the keyborad/piano. Look up the trail of songs he wrote, not only for Meat Loaf but for many other wonderful artists as well!
He was always a Great Singer and Theatrical Performer!
It's insane how incredible the Bat Out of Hell album was. I'm old enough to remember all these songs when they came out, but not old enough that I would have seen him live on this tour.
The great Jim Stienman, the guy at the start asking the questions and on the piano is the writer of Meatloaf's bangers.
This gave me wolf man and vampire vibes at first. Jim Steinman, the composer of this and all of Meat Loaf's songs, is the man speaking at the beginning. You can see him playing piano in this and many of Meat Loaf's videos also.
Bat out of hell was what was known as a concept album, all the tracks are parts of an overall story. This gig was where they would perform the whole album.
I worked on a movie that Meat was in (The 51st State) for 3 months and in all the film & television work I did over the years he was one of the nicest and most genuine guys I ever came across in that world. No disappearing off to a Winnebago for him, he would come and sit with all us crew and eat his meals with us.
I am from Norway. I bought the album Bat Out Of Hell in 1981. I was 15. This album is one of the most perfect album and it was gold in my album collection. So great. So cool. The cover. It was the symbol of USA for me at that time. :)
The movie you were talking about, I believe, was MY GIRL. A 1991 classic ❤ Meat Loaf is also a classic. ❤ Growing up in the 1970's was amazing...all except for being old now. 😎🤟
Meatloaf had a voice that was unmatched. This song is one of my favorites. Great shit! The 70's were artistic, a lot of drama, a lot of acting. Meatloaf was a great actor in the cult classic THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (Eddie). Incredibly talented. Check out - "Hot Patootie Bless My Soul".
One of the great things about Meat Loaf and other artists of such eras, they’re not blatant. Seductive, sensual words, metaphors - but never crass. Conway Twitty. :)
Meatloaf was absolutely fantastic, you need to listen to more, he was a legend
I saw meatloaf twice when he was over here in England. First was the 10th anniversary tour of bat out of hell and was mind blowing. The second time was on Valentine’s Day. He sat on the edge of the stage with a red rose 🌹 in his hand and sang 2 out of 3 ain’t bad to one of the audience staring at the all the way through the song. At the end he called the person up to the stage. It was a young lad probably only about 17. He gave him the rose and told him to give it to his girl friend. So sad to think I will never see him perform live again 😢
Rock Opera was a very unique genre and Meat was the undisputed king within. You might spend some time exploring the full genre where you'll find classics like "Rocky Horror Picture Show", "Little Shop of Horrors", and the first self-proclaimed rock opera "Tommy". It took a very special set of talents to write, compose, produce, and then perform in the rock opera genre and thank goodness for Meat Loaf who brought it out into the full light of day in a spectacular way!
I'm 72 and have listened to this album more than any other. Absolutely love it. Can't remember how many times I bought the album cassette and CD. But I bought a lot for various reasons. I love all music but the Bat out of Hell album is the most complete album I've ever listened to. Love all the tracks on it. Every one of them.
The whole first album, "Bat Out of Hell," by Meatloaf, is awesome!
It's good to watch Meat Loaf in his later years. He was as good as ever.
🤣🤣"Praise the Lord!..." BP - you are fantastic! Love your reactions bud!
It's a theatrical piece - likely hinting at the story of 'Little Red Riding Hood'... 😂Jim Steinman, who wrote and composed the song did the spoken intro... Steinman wrote Meat Loaf's biggest records ('Bat out of Hell' ... 'Dead Ringer' ... 'Bat out of Hell II'...)
For Crying Out Loud is amazing - highly recommend it as the next Meat Loaf reaction.
My father had me grow up on Meat Loaf and many others, it's actually why Queen is my all-time favorite band. Anyways, Meat Loaf is basically a showman. Both with lyrics and on stage it's why his music is the way it is.
"I would lie for you, and that's the truth"
The whole Bat Out of Hell album is fire. The guy talking in the into was Jim Steinman. He co-wrote the album. Also, he wrote and sings on Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart. I think you should listen to it as well.
Objects In The Rear View Mirror is a must as well. Another great Meatloaf movie.
Meatloaf made concept albums. Not just an album with a bunch of songs - they were albums whose songs added together made a full opera. He was mentally ill and his albums are so beyond anyone else! Such a talent! He did not get enough credit.
Love this one! Used to listen to the entire Bat Out of Hell vinyl that my dad owned over and over again when I was 11 or 12. Meatloaf was different!
"For Crying Out Loud" is probably my favorite tune by them... but love most their music... but the man can sing!
How I love the looks on your face! The main reason I watch your reactions...too funny!!
Look into Not A Dry Eye In The House,... absolutely amazing, beautifully heartbreaking.
🇬🇧 Each & every song of Meatloaf's was turned into a mini rock-opera. Jim Steinman was the songwriter/genius, & Meatloaf put his perfect spin on them. I agree 100% with other people's comments on other great songs by Meatloaf "For Crying Out Loud" "Objects In The Rear View Mirror" "Bat Out Of Hell". In fact the whole "Bat Out Of Hell" album is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Not a bad song on it. It was in the charts forever (for all i know, its still in there!) 🎼🎶🎙️❤️
All of the Meatloaf songs you have reacted to so far are from the "Bat Out Of Hell" album,,, do yourself a huge favour and sit in a quiet comfy place and listen to the entire album from start to finish, no skips just play through. The album was written by Jim Steinmann as a concept/soundtrack for a stage musical. It was such a huge thing back in the day, and remains one of the best of its genre, to this day... btw, I might be just a smidge biased about this album and it's incredible creators 🥰
🙃🐨🇦🇺
He's so great! I saw him live. The best! What a showman.....
I saw that show back in ‘77 at the “The Old Waldorf” on Battery St. In San Francisco. A small venue They did the whole album. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
Got to see Meat Loaf in London on his last tour - just an amazing gig - so much energy - so many people singing. Classic songs! Great reaction.
He was also a part of Rocky Horror Picture show. Killer musical movie. Now that is a movie to watch and enjoy.
I just can’t leave Meatloaf ‘Bat out of hell” off my top 10 albums of all time list. It’s a part of the fabric of my life. And dude…I’m Gen x too. The neck is the part of the body that wolves go for to take down their prey as it’s the most vulnerable. And it was Dracula’s favorite part of the body as well. Offering your throat is submitting to the wolf. So much to unpack in this.
G'day BP. Great reaction. This is the music I grew up with. I purchased this album on vinyl when I was a teenager. As mentioned in other comments the male talking in the introduction was Jim Steinman, who wrote all of Meatloaf's songs. He also wrote Total Eclipse of the Heart for Bonny Tyler and It's All Coming Back to Me Now by Celine Dion. You have noted the connection between several songs on the concert tour. Interestingly the female lead on the video clips is not the female singer who recorded the songs for the album. The singer on the album is Ellen Foley. Ellen declined to tour on the Bat Out of Hell tour and had to be replaced by another singer who lip-synced the songs which were played from recordings. The woman in the video is actually Karla DeVito. God Bless my friend.
I didn’t know what throat meant until after your sixth or so hint.🤣👍💕🦇😊
If you want to check out his harder side "Bat Out Of Hell" 2 beautiful ballads "For Cryin Out Loud" and "Heaven Can Wait"
The composer Jim Steinman used to write his songs as part of a musical under construction, kind of like a Peter Pan set in a dystopian future where the lost boys didn't grow up because of environmental mutantios. There were several attempts to make a premium stage play and/or a movie from these ideas and songs but nothing materialized until the musical "Bat out of hell" premiered first in Manchester and then in London's west end in 2017.
100% you NEED to do Dead Ringer for Love. Meatloaf + Cher. Epic duet. You'd love it man.
the guy that starts off this video with the questions that shocked you, is Jim Steinman, the guy that writes all the songs for Meat Loaf... he's part of the band. . .
I graduated from High School in the 90's. Meatloaf was my "dirty secret" because he wasn't "cool". But when i was alone driving or at home, I'd blast the Bat out of Hell album and rock out!!!
The whole 'Bat Out of Hell' album is EPIC!!
Anyone here part of the Loafdom fan site back in the day? Meat Loaf used to get on and converse all the time. While he was down with back, about 2yrs before he passed, he used get in the chats of reactors.
Are those messages still there? Where is the site?
@@Gira21Gramos good question..I will have to look. It was before 2011..if I find it I will come back with the link.
Bat Out Of Hell was their # 1 hit for months. It is a full circle song beginning middle end. Have to pay attention to it. Sense Meatloaf did musical on Broadway that's why his songs are story songs.
The 1970's was another time. On the charst you still found numbers from musicals like "Hair", "Rocky horror picture show", and Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Jesus christ superstar" and "Evita".
I was able to see Meat Loaf 4 of the many times that he performed in Australia with my best friend, they were 4 of the best concerts we have ever attended. We knew at the 4th concert that it would be the last time we would ever get to see him live again and it hit me hard. I have loved his music since I was 9 years old, Bat Out of Hell and Rocky Horror Picture Show cassette tapes came out in around late 1975/ early1976, Australia being at the other end of the world we had to wait at least 6 months before stuff was available to us. We played those tapes until they were worn out. I am probably in the minority here but I think his best Album was Bad Attitude with Cheating In Your Dreams being the best song Meat Loaf has ever recorded. That whole album just spoke to me. All 3 Bat Out of Hell Albums, Welcome to the Neighborhood and the rest of his back catalogue are just worth listening to, there will most likely not be many video's that cover all of his songs. Meat Loaf and Jim had such a great friendship (with some long periods of estrangement) but they were able to come together and make some of the greatest music of their generations. When we lost Jim and then Meat Loaf they were 2 of the saddest days in music because we will never get that kind of music again. One thing that people who react to any songs before the mid to late 90's need to remember they were such different times, and what we now call Pop Culture can't be held up against those decades in the same context 75% of the stuff did not even exist. I am so glad so many new fans are discovering music from the 60's, 70's, 80's and some 90's stuff but you really had to be there to understand the feeling that those songs invoked in people. My world as an Australian was smaller, safer, carefree and filled with music that has woven themselves through the decades of my life, a life enriched by Meat Loaf and Jim. I do love your facial expressions when you listen to the lyrics again, back then we listed to the music and we had no idea the words of these songs would in some cases mean something every different today to their meanings back then.
This video and others are from a performance that resembles a no act rock opera more than a concert. The Bat of Hell album is in the genre of the Rocky Horror stage performance a few years earlier. Some of these performers including Meat were in that production. The songwriter Jim Steinman also directed the movie version of the Rocky Horror show. During this time in the 70's this all made perfect sense.
"For Crying Out Loud" is my favorite song by him. Its pretty long though.
Another fanulous review! There’s not another moment to waste! ML and Steinman’s music grants us all the opportunity for eternal adolescence!!
The original mic drop! Can't wait for your Bat out of He'll reaction. That's the best song on the album, imo. And one of the best songs of all time. Praise J8m, Todd, and Meat.
'Rock n Roll Dreams Come Through' Jim Steinmam. The guy at the start.
Meatloaf was an actor in the musical Hair. That should tell you a lot.
Heaven can wait, is also an amazing song. I grew up listening to the whole album. I've probably played this album over 1000 times throughout my life.
Jim Steinman is the guy in the intro. He wrote a bunch of Meatloaf's songs and they had a long collaboration together. He has some great poetry type tracks like that. My favorite is "Love, Death, And An American Guitar," from Steinman's solo album. Insanely great, weird, wild word symphony. The intro is only tangentially related to the song. The song is about love, the intro is more about what will you sacrifice for love. And the videos aren't from a performance. They're all lip syncs to make videos, long after the album was recorded. Carla DeVito, the brunette singer, isn't even the one who sang on the album, she's just there for the video.
This entire album is a masterpiece. You should just do a reaction from top to bottom cuz there’s not one single solitary bad song. It is a genuine masterpiece!
You NEED to check out "Dead Ringer For Love". Meatloaf & Cher duet.
Man, you need to check out "Objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are."
Long title, amazing song, amazing message.
The album, Bat Out of Hell, is essentially a rock opera focused on teen angst and love. Not a bad song in the bunch.
"Hymn to French kissing" - as described on BBC!!!!!!!
We were lucky, we had the best music. Rock and Country. My son told me that one day. Need to listen to some Lynyrd Skinner. Freebird is a looong song. LOL used to have to flip the tape over in the middle, lmao. Yeah, I had the cassette. But I go back to 8 tracks and vinyl.
I’d do anything for love & rock roll dreams come through. Bangers rock on
