    Great review brother

    I have to say that this by far is the most comprehensive review on the this GS66 Stealth 2022 model. So thank you!.....I was looking at getting this laptop for both work and a fair bit of gaming on the side. Only thing is it's overpriced (equivalent of CAD 4150) where I live...so that is the only thing that's a downer.
    I wanted to ask about the surface temps on the keyboard and palm rest (as I work long hours on the laptop)...during normal use like browsing/spreadsheets and during gaming...did you notice much heat on your hands ?

      Oh hey Thanks Santhnu! Grateful for the sub! 4150 is quite steep. With taxes the one i got was around 3600 so that really is a downer. Where area do you live in? As for surface temps, under moderate productivity tasks, pretty much cool. Under gaming it was a bit warm but far faaar from uncomfortable. My razer blade was easier 50 pc hotter

      @@kazmieeThanks, I am a bit sensitive to surface temps on the laptop desk so asked(programming for long hours isn't comfortable on such machines)...Owned a Zephyrus M16 that got uncomfortably warm even in idle, gave it away few months back....don't want a laptop that's heavy or overly gamery...at the same time don't want a thin machine that heats up even during mundane tasks.
      Anyways when I checked out the gs66 in a store it felt cooler to the touch (had been plugged in all the time) when compared to the other gaming models....btw, I live in Chennai, India...just converted the list price to CAD (laptops attract a significant import tax here)
      Waiting for the Zephyrus G14 2022 model to be launched here in a few weeks hopefully...but GS66 impressed me for an all-in-one machine for work and gaming just like the zephyrus g14

      @@santhnu it is def a good idea to wait and see what other manufacturers put out. Ambient temperatures can also play a big role. Here in canada, it is common to see 22-25 C average across the year and that may easily jump up in south asia. I personally found legions to manage heat very well despite the ambient temps. I know you mentioned little interest in those earlier, but till this day, that remains my preferred device. The older slim 7 just blew my mind for value for money. Portable, light, well built, and very decent power. No BS machine. Loved it. Maybe they plan to bring a 12th gen version out soon. But have not heard much about it

      @@kazmiee Yeah, you're right about the ambient temps...where I live the temps can run into the mid-30s C...that's the reason gaming on laptops have never been comfortable especially over long hours of use.. I've not been able to see the Legion 5 Pro here in any store...it's either pre-ordered or sold online...specs and reviews are positive though...but their size, weight and a slight gamery look have made me look elsewhere...Legion Slim 7 has just been launched here few days back, will check it out...the 12th gen Legions are a few weeks away from launch though and the newer amd radeon chips should make an appearance in 1 or 2 models as announced by amd.

      @@santhnu Radeon chips will always run cooler. So good to keep that in mind too for this purchase

    how's the fan noise as compared to other similar model, such as ROG M16, Razer blade 15, Alienware x15 etc

    • @kazmiee
      @kazmiee  2 роки тому

      I recently reviewed the x17, i believe it would be almost as loud as that. It is more of a whooshing sound. But in terms of discrete fan noise, the blade is definitely the better choice

    I just bought this with the i9, 3070Ti, RAM 32GB, 1 TB and QHD for $2399 US. The machine is solid and performs well. It does not get hot under normal usage. Fans do not ramp up during normal task but they are always audible (it does not bother me).

      Oof. Nice. For sure it is a good device. Stay in touch and share your experience with it Mario. I wish it was as slim and light as a Razer though. :) But in return, it definitely provides better cooling. I noticed the constant fans as well. But i believe after a few updates, the fans assumed a lower state on low utilization/idle

    I feel the same way about Razer, I love my 2019 Razer Blade 17, but the 2022 product line is just way too pricey compared to other gaming laptops that offer similar specs for more reasonable prices.

      And based on some of the reviews on the 2022 lineup, apparently they aren't even all that good in comparison. :/ If you are looking to upgrade, seek discounts on the 11th gen till they work out Intel's new architecture and games understand how to use it as well

    "if the performance bump is 20% from the old generation then i can expect a 20% price different as well, fair enough" ye fair enough but the problem is your salary does not increase 20% from last year😉
