@@kazmiee The engineers at Lenovo originally wanted to design an external radiator/unit with hoses attaching to the 9i right under the unlit watercooling symbol at the back of the laptop. Yeah I think the 4080 should be a good sweet spot. Too much premium with the 4090 for an additional 15-20 % of performance. The display is as good as it gets right now. Nice reviews. The x16 makes a lot of cooler noise when playing, reaching 55 decibels. Can you tell me how many decibels the Lenovo gets? I'm thinking about buying one of the two and the noise bothers me a lot
For fan noise, I'd actually side with the Alienware easily. The Legion was generally louder in my opinion and was more likely to have audible fans even under light loads. You can set Alienware in its standard power profile and it can still give decent performance while remaining relatively quiet. BUT, you know what, I have recently been testing a zenbook with an RTX 4080 and the fan noise is probably the lowest I have heard in the standard profile while still pushing out a decent amount of performance. It should have a similar price tag to the X16 and offers a lot more in terms of features as well. My review is probably still a few weeks away but initially I am having an awesome experience. I'd easily prefer it over the Alienware for now. Check it out if you can: UX7602BZ
Thank you applepulse! . I have been thinking of finding a good device with a 4050 as an entry level casual gaming device but the X16 is still a bit pricey at my end for now (CAD 2300 at bestbuy). @@applepulse Ahhh, that is exactly why I have been preferring ROG's approach to the utility / configuration software for their gaming devices, they have a tonne of customization and the Legion's vantage software feels out of date now . Hey thank you for your question; and what an interesting dillemma! right off the top of my head, Immediately I thoght that i'd easily go for the Legion 9. Personally I am not seeking a bigger screen tbh to improve my experience. The M18 is an incrediby bulky device and... well. it is simple and straight shooter. Sure, the size means that it can handle a fully powered 4090 better BUT.. my God. It is proper chonkster and is IMO, not "flagship" material. The X16 however in the Alieneware lineup is and I feel is the more appropriate competitor against the Legion 9. The Legion 9 in comparison to the M18 is slimmer, and still supports a fully powered 4090, has alot of RGB. built from premium materials has a top mounted air intake which is also awesome for thermals. It has an amazing 3.2K miniled display as well and from my POV, looks great as well with than carbon fibre lid;; it is overall a bigger technical achievemement and makes the user feel pretty special as well. Overall, I am leaning towards the Legion 9. Hope that helps!
my x16 r1 4070 for some reason is hitting 120 fps on cyberpunk 2077 with frame generation on and dlss to balanced and ultra settings. I guess thats good enough I no longer need a 4090. Valorant is 500 fps on lowest settings for competetive advantage and i only have qhd + 240 hz so I guess 4070 is the sweetspot for this laptops for 2k resolution 4060 for 1080 p and 4080-4090 for 4k gaming.
@@kazmiee I guess it just draws too much power even sitting idle. I can even hear all the fans running at these low power settings and in quiet mode. Today I lost my wifi connection completely! Thank you applepulse! . I have been thinking of finding a good device with a 4050 as an entry level casual gaming device but the X16 is still a bit pricey at my end for now (CAD 2300 at bestbuy). Can even get a 4070 Legion in that price. let me know if something else comes to mind? Ideally something that is below 1500 CAD
@@kazmiee i bought 4070 version and its very slim with good performance + mini led is very good
Ps: in ROG you can turn off mini led and use the display like a regular IPS and peak brightness wont bother you anymore
@@applepulse Ahhh, that is exactly why I have been preferring ROG's approach to the utility / configuration software for their gaming devices, they have a tonne of customization and the Legion's vantage software feels out of date now . In terms of slim and powerful, I am looking forward to getting a zenbook pro 16x with a 4080 which is as thin as the older razer blade 15s less than 0.7 inches and it also goes up to 150W so I am really looking forward to that for now
Я ждал именно от тебя обзор :)
Thank you! Hope my content met your expectations!
I can buy a M18 for the same price as a legion 9 with the same specs now. What should I do?
I barely got 2 hours with the same settings and just streaming music with lowest brightness and low sound volume.
Ah man, that is terrible, I thought it was probably just my unit but this is just crazy. What is that 99.9999999 Watt hr battery even doing?
@@kazmiee I guess it just draws too much power even sitting idle. I can even hear all the fans running at these low power settings and in quiet mode. Today I lost my wifi connection completely! I tried restarting the network adapter, restarting the laptop and nothing seems to bring it back to life. It's a MediaTek network card, which for a laptop this expensive I can't believe they didn't use an Intel card. I now have to return this baby after just having it for 3 days (with most of 1st day spent just updating all Windows and drivers).
@@maxa6430 its the worst feeling, spending all the time to set up the device to your liking and troubleshooting through initial issues and getting all the excitement slashed down AND then finally having to return it. It is really exhausting. Sorry it has to happen to you. Even after Legion taking its sweet time to release their 2023 flagship, it still cannot get the basics right. The carbon look is just a distraction as it seems. :)
X16 r2 looks way better with the rgb trackpad, logo, lighting at the back, design, etc
@@beelikebunny Are you planning to get one soon?
@@kazmiee im deciding on one currently. Torn between x16 r2 and zephyrus duo.
@@beelikebunnywhich one did you go with

brother how to buy this laptop in india ?
Hi Nikhil. Apologies for the late reply. I am actually not sure about India. Does India have a dedicated Lenovo outlet / online presence? Curious to know how much they offer in that Legion? Did you find a legion 9i btw? Or did you settle for something else?
I ordered one legion 9i 😎
Nice! did you get the full 4090 spec? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about it!
Nice comparison. If possible please try the acer predator trition 17x, it's thin, premium and has a mini led with a 4090
That is actually not a bad suggestion. I have had some sad experiences with Acer devices in my "youth" . Perhaps it is time to revisit them.
Which one did you like my from your heart and not logical numbers? :D
Haha, i think for 2023, my heart went out to a laptop that I never thought it would.. the Zenbook pro 16x. I made a review on it as well here: ua-cam.com/video/63C0JCzUros/v-deo.html ; between the AWX16 and the 9i though, I thought my heart was with the legion but QC issues really spoiled it for me. PLUS, I went in expecting wayyy too much from the 9i. Eventually I settled for the AWX16.. Practically.. but I know the 9i would feel more special.
@@kazmiee man, I love you, you have a special place in my YT list because you always surprise me and you are so passionate … and I watch every laptop guy!
@@tinybit780 aww thanks Tinybit780! I love you too! Makes me happy to hear that you enjoy my content. I would honestly be happiest selling laptops and tech at a nearby bestbuy or Canada computers. I do wish I could create more content and review more stuff but I recently became a dad and my job is super demanding! Still, I am trying to push out a review for the Legion Go. Hopefully I am able to push it out over the coming weekend. :) but really man, I am so grateful for your kind words. It means alot!
Legion seems just like more efficient and convenient, but god damn alienware's laptop looks amazing. I wish i had one of them :c
13:23 just made me laugh so hard XD
thank you so much for the video
Haha. Thank you esfsefes! I almost considered replacing the X16 with the 9i but as you saw in the video, seemed like the X16 will be enough (more than) for me for now :)
@@kazmiee yeah i did. Im using Asus ROG Strix G18 with i7 and 4070 as my mobile solution - im loving it, but the alienware's visual side is so yummi !
Hot, loud, expensive, heavy, no, thanks
Since I kind of have a soft corner for legion since it gave me my first ever gaming laptop that got me all crazy for... well.. gaming laptops.. I have been thinking alot that I wish I could have had the Legion 9 as my daily but damn just could not find it affordable and for that kind of price point, I only expected perfection at every corner. I did not get a chance to review the newer variant with the 14th gen with perhaps some quality improvements.. but it is still so expensive. And I really hated how gimmicky the liquid cooling was. And even WORSE.. to take out the entire mobo to replacel the ram sounded crazy to me.
@@kazmiee You’re running in circles with the flawed concept of gaming laptop, just buy GeForce Now Ultimate subscription and all problems are solved.
Wait...I thought they were boring... Lol
No no, you should get one immediately. Head on the nearest continental grounds that you have not burned down as yet and someone will be happy to lace your jacket with the 9i. You could use a break from falling down a million stairs from your last movie anyway. :P
@@kazmiee guess the Lenovo check came through. :P
impressive china computer !
Impressive indeed! I think VERY few laptops are manufactured outside of China; although I hear a few Lenovo laptops ARE assembled in USA. I think Origin PC both designs and assembles in USA. Hmm.
TURN OFF THE STUPID BGM. ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?
Oh dang. Sorry man. I suppose I use it to drown out background distractions and conversations. I will consider removing it in the future. Thank you for the feedback. :)
Gift it to me please
Haha, I gifted it back to Legion. Too rich for my blood
gift it to me dude i am poor af
Haha, for a price point like this, everyone is poor AF, I gifted it back to Legion as well. It was all just too much
@@kazmiee dam it I thought today us the day ill get something for yt let me know uf you. Need anything done in 3d i have to slowly climb the ladder ut seems
