    You know, for all of Discovery's faults I don't see how people can blindly hate it when it has scenes this good.

      Cause scenes like this were just too few and far between. The show spent far too long trying to make you hate it’s bridge crew.

    Just remembered when Gainan told Picard in the TNG "Best of Both Worlds" as they prepared to fight the Borg that the Federation would survive as long as enough of them survive to preserve the spirit of the Federation. If this does not represent the spirit of the Federation, then I know what does.

    I like that the admiral actually let sahil join when burnham found starfleet

    These scenes are the reason why I want my son to listen to Star Trek some day. We need that kind of thoughtful and optimistic messages right now (and gosh we could also use some Carl Sagan also). If there is one thing that failing democratic governments throughout the world and the global pandemy have teached us, is that we are nothing without each other. And that when all else is lost, the future still remains.

    This is what Starfleet, the Federation and Star Trek is in the end. A nation of true believers. No matter the time, hope is the most important thing to have in times of darknesses.

    What a powerful performance from Adil Hussain. When he says those words, "our numbers are few, but our spirit is undiminished", you believe him.

      It's actually an old Roddenberry theme. Remember Andromeda Ascendant, before that Genesis II, Planet Earth, and Strange New World. Only difference is that it's not Dylan Hunt and not the Systems Commonwealth or Pax.

      It's one of the most Star Trek scenes in discovery so far, alongside select Pike scenes like the one with Jacob in his basement.

    Discovery at times like these is like Star Trek poetry. Maybe sometimes it doesn't make absolute, exact, 100% sense? But the FEELING is there, unmistakably.

    I've been here since I was a boy, with William Shatner...these moments are Starlight on a dark night is someone life. To me it's the reason for asking the questions which ....may, some day take us where no one has gone before. Although I know, that for now, we may not venture far..

    • @Retrohertz
      @Retrohertz 3 роки тому +2

      Yeah, the real world is depressing isn't it. Society seems to cater for the selfish and materialistic facets of our nature, instead of the cooperative, scientific, logical and explorative facets. The pandemic should demonstrate, encourage and celebrate the importance of the latter facets, but I doubt it will.

    One thing that would make this scene even better is if we hear the classic Trek theme when the flag was raised. Regardless, this is a lovely scene. Excellent acting, powerful and hopeful message, and sets up what seems to be an interesting story.

      nah. nostalgia bait when the entire season is set 1000 years in the future doesn't fit and would seem cheap. they know they can play that melody any time and get star trek nerds tearing up.
