- At long last my job here is finally done. I have been searching a long time for decent rock & chips - and the time has finally come at Shoreditch Fish & Chips. Totally off the charts - poached perfectly in the heart of London, Brick Lane territory. Finally, great fish and chips and with no skin on.
Very happy to have found this place at long last.

Now that's what I'm talking about DJ everything was spot on from the peas, chips and even the chip butties had me drooling. The rock, my favourite by the way even though I can't seem to get it in Cardiff was on point it looked great and I swear I was eating that with you, well done.
Sarah i live in Bristol . Nearly every week in the year i use to go fishing off Rhyl as i am from there the amount of dog fish and Bullhuss we use to catch we just chucked them back into the sea as nobody wanted to eat them . Also even fished off Holyhead same thing as well Sarah . Also i haven't seen dogfish in fishmongers round hear either . As i can't see it being over fished unless they use it in fish fingers now lol.

A lovely clean plate of food. That fish fell off the bone with surgical precision DJ. I think the kids would enjoy it just for that!! Also you can’t beat a chip barm or butty!!

My old man to this day still uses the phrase “Champion”!! It also just about sums up you, this video and the channel. Every time one of your videos drops it’s like a new episode of a favourite tv show.

Hey DJ! Hurrah Shoreditch Chippy came through in the end for you! Straight away a decent looking Rock, chips and mushy peas. Batter easily trumps on the last few you places you have been to. Decent size. Again shame about no bread and butter but hey ho you still made a chip butty. I’m a curry sauce girl so I would switch to that as a side but that’s my preference. Glad you can close the chapter on that issue now. Nice relaxing carefree video. Take care 😘👍🏻

many Chippies maybe due lack of popularity over the obvious Cod and Haddock. Very underrated
IMO. Bloomin lovely battered fish for change. Got be honest DJ I eat the jelly type bone. Nothing is
left rare occasions I come across rock at Chippies. Like skate eat the jelly bones as I notice many
don't. Nothing goes to waste. Great vlog as always Darren. Look forward next one as sadly these
days no longer visit London even though my family were good old East Ender's.

Being a chef for several years, the best rock I have tasted so far
it is a member off shark family. the skin, when dried you could use as glass paper. inedible. I am going there next time i am out. not had it for years looking like that!

One of the best rock and chips I ever had was in the chippy in Dachet Windsor in the early seventies brilliant, also it was a Friday staple at work staff canteen on Fridays

Darren that Rock Salmon looked fantastic it used to be my favourite here in Canada if you are fishing for salmon and they catch a dog fish they club it to death and throw it back it never used for fish and chips coming to London in July and will try that fish and chips shop.

Now that was a decent portion of Rock and the white flesh looked delicious mind you I gotta say you had me at Chip butty that looked Tasty too!!! If only all chip shops served rock like that... Mum would have doused it in vinegar and loved every mouthfull it was her favourite.

When I was at St Thomas Hospital London, I tried the AMT Coffee and it’s delicious
Great looking place and great looking fish and chips, I understand people moaning about the price, however, I’m not sure they fully comprehend the overheads that small business’s are having to pay just to open! We just don’t get Rock up here in NE Scotland but I’d be willing to try it!
Rock is a very London, South East fish shop thing and I've never seen it here in Scotland although I've eaten it often when I was living down there.
Now that looked like a fish& chip shop well worth supporting great filming too

I've never seen such a large selection of fish in a chippie.

It's usually Cod or Plaice and in some cases it just says Fish small or large so you don't know what it is 🤣🤣🤣 🐟🐠.
Mum and dad used to get us rock when we were kids as no small bones.

Info for you. Rock fish is known as Rock cod in many countries and is part of the cod family not salmon. Delicious when cooked right 👍
You my friend have got me checking a rock out when next time possible being a foodie myself, but my favourite fish and chips at the moment is in Stoke Newington called Suttons fish and chips, let me treat you one day.? We will rock up on the bikes one weekend.. Take it easy fella.. Ps thanks for all your experiences in the restaurants.. I've got a city spice booked up very soon.. I must admit that Rock and Chips were always good. But my grandmother used to cook cods roe but the only way I could eat that was with lashings of HP, yes it had to be HP, sauce.
There was article online the other day about the Rock N Salt chippy that was meant to be awesome

Rock salmon is dogfish a lovely meat but time consuming to prepare on the east coast of America they overfished the cod hence a ban so they had to catch dogfish and I don't think anyone noticed
Sat up in bed at 11.30 pm watching this review,that just looks incredible and that batter alone is worth it ,almost tempted to get out of bed and look for a chip pie that’s open still !unfortunately not possible but nice to dream about ,we have some decent chippies here in North Yorkshire ,why can we not get rock in the north Anybody out there know why?

Did look pukka, no denying. The only thing I’d say is. Rock was never usually done in that shape. Meaning the fish was not cut so the bone is diagonal. It was always more “rectangular” shape. That one had the shape of cod or haddock fillet. Still, as you say it was off the charts so it don’t matter about how it was cut.
