    While people criticize the current escape, this made me appreciate what it is even more. It’s a pretty comfortable, elegant and more efficient vehicle aimed at those who have no reason to go off-road. That being said, this is an absolutely brilliant vehicle that I think will be highly successful as a competition to Jeep and Subaru.

    *They’re gonna sell so many Broncos and Bronco Sports. Chevy missed an opportunity with the Blazer. Would’ve loved to seen that rivalry.*

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 3 роки тому +4

      Chevy is killing it with the Blazer. You suffer from consensus bias where you think others desire as you do. GM is a more profitable (2019 had more net income than Ford’s earnings before interest and taxes) and valuable ($64B to $36B) corporation.

    • @garyg2
      @garyg2 3 роки тому +24

      @@KTMcaptain , it's not just sales. the blazer has no character. i've never heard anyone be stoked about having a new blazer. there's a couple nice things about it, but they didn't even try to use that blazer ancestry. just looking at their website's blazer product page, it just looks sooo cheeseball. i have no doubt lots of suburbanites & city dwellers buy em up like hotcakes and pretend they took em off-road when they parked in the parking lot at the beach.
      but one thing about sales I will say is this: it'll be interesting to see how bronco sport & bronco sales affect the blazer, jeep & 4runner. personally I think jeep will be most negatively affected. hardcore wrangler fans won't leave jeep, but let's be honest, there aren't too many of those. jeep's been screwing around too much for years, reliability is crap, gladiator was cool at first but it wore off quick, they're already bleeding, and some people are definitely looking for something else.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 3 роки тому +7

      @@garyg2 The offroad market isn't what offroaders seem to think it is. The Blazer has plenty of style and fancy bits for the every day consumer. It looks much nicer than the Bronco sport. The cherokee trailhawk doesn't sell well and it has better offroad gear. Bronco sport might have an enthusiasm spurt from the beginning, like Raptor models; but after a year or two of production will be gone... Obviously the raptor has more enthusiasm, but it leveled off and those $15k markups left and they were sold for MSRP here in SoCal before covid (idk about now).

    • @garyg2
      @garyg2 3 роки тому +10

      @@KTMcaptain , the blazer has cheesy modern style, looks like every other suv on the road. I think we can admit the off road vehicle market is more about non-offroaders buying vehicles for looks. I think that's what the Sport will attract, people who want that more aggressive look. The Sport's price is very appealing, compared to the Bronco and some Jeeps. The Trailblazer somehow starts at $19k which I find amazing, but the Bronco S beats the Blazer's starting price by $2k so I think Ford could pull a lot of people over with that base price. Ok the Cherokee is a comparable vehicle, but those things are garbage, and they don't sell well because jeeps are overpriced and unreliable.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 3 роки тому +1

      @@garyg2 I agree with you. Hence the defender. I just don't see the Bronco out selling the cherokee trailhawk, which was priced down into the mid $20k a couple years ago when I nearly purchased a ZR2 colorado... decided not to buy a truck because I wanted it not needed it and would just be paying for it to sit in my driveway. The Blazer is a meh car, but is par for the segment which is absolutely on fire and 2nd to pickup trucks for contribution margin.
      .
      GM knows what they're doing and unless they had a ton of untapped capacity I don't see this as a better investment. Greater economic profit (profit compared to next best investment) comes from the Blazer and vehicles like that... at least that's what a data driven decision would likely yield.
      .
      I love off road vehicle and want GM to push Ford into making a competitive market. My MBA and spatial statistics background just won't let me justify it. I wouldn't even build a Raptor if I were ford since it has no economies of scale for the bespoke frame, body parts, and suspension. The $8k they charge can't possible cover the cost of higher quality parts in low production they add, and the statistics I've ran shows no change in sales relative to the market meaning the F150 didn't gain in popularity cause of it.

      Proper? A real SUV is supposed to be body on frame. You dumb... What a noob.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 3 роки тому +3

      @@Lexman00 no, since 1999 the Jeep Grand Cherokee has been a unibody. The 99 WJ even had two live axles, part time 4wd, and auto locking differentials. They’re still good off-road with long arm kits and bigger tires. Even the WK Jeep which proceeded the WJ had a solid rear axle with available locking differentials and was still very good at rock crawling.
      .
      In fact, the best off road vehicles are unibody. There is no ladder frame on a trophy truck, class 1 buggy, or even side by sides.
      .
      Unibodies are stronger and lighter than cab on frame. But a cab on frame is modular and cheaper to make several vehicles with.
      .
      The reason why unibody vehicles get a bad rap is because they’re typically based off car suspension, so they’re in essence lifted cars that suck.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 3 роки тому +1

      No low range... not proper. High gear will over heat the trans and severely limit torque for steep climbs at crawling speeds.

    • @Lexman00
      @Lexman00 3 роки тому +1

      @@KTMcaptain I stopped reading at "in fact, the best off road vehicles are unibody. "
      That is not a "fact". Look... a proper SUV is supposed to be body on frame, and that's all there is to it. Sorry, son...

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 3 роки тому

      @@Lexman00 Then you missed the entire justification and proved your insane willful ignorance. How many trophy trucks, class 1 buggies, and Hammer trucks are body on frame? None, because the best offroad vehicles use their body as a frame (unibody).
      .
      Jeep has been making excellently performing SUV's for over 20 years that were unibody. Body on frame is great for modularity, but heavier and performs worse. Like I said, you're conflating car suspension with unibody since that is the most obvious implementation of the design.
      .
      Sorry kid... Maybe you should learn to read better.

    A lot of people were dissin' the Sport at first, but the more I look at the new Broncos, the more appealing a Bronco Sport is over a big Bronco. I don't rock crawl, the removable top is nice but I'd rarely use it, I'd rather have more comfort (incl back seat), less road noise and a quick & easy to open sunroof. And if I get a big Bronco, I'll probably want to beat it up, so I'd prefer to pick one up used later on anyway. It seems like the Bronco Sport's biggest weakness is just the perception of being the little weaker model compared to the big Bronco, and I don't think it deserves that reputation. I might actually be more interested in a big Bronco if it had a solid roof (+sunroof) like the Sport, it sounds funny but I bet a lot of people feel that way. Just look at the FJ cruiser.
    The Sport's look is reminiscent of that 90's Ford Explorer that everyone had at some point, the perfect balance of nostalgia and freshness. Can't deny the 4runners are still very tempting tho. And the big Bronco is just a beauty, they nailed both of them.
    But with the Bronco/Bronco Sport being so new (which means it needs time to grow & aftermarket to catch up) and the next gen 4runner just around the corner, it seems dumb to buy either the Bronco Sport or 4runner right now. I want to pick up a used 4runner, and then find a used Bronco and/or Bronco Sport in a couple years.

    This is the modern version of my 1998 ford explorer sport (which I love). It was an off road suv built on a truck platform. They switched the explorer line over to luxury suvs built on large car platforms. But the horse power is about the same, the new one gets a lot better gas mileage and having a lot smaller engine but seems horsepower is almost the same. I imagine that the new one is lighter as the old one was really heavy for the small size (I stripped a lot of stuff out of it to lower weight and get better gas mileage- everything on it was heavy- carpet etc.). The basic design is the same except the 98 sport was 2 door, but same basic size. had the lift up mirror on the back and everything. Which essentially the 98 explorer sport was like the older bronco that they discontinued.
    The only thing with my 98 rear wheel drive is it is really good going over rocks and hills but gets stuck fairly easy in mud or ice- you have to have the four wheel drive. But the new ones have the different terrain switch and four wheel drive. The only thing that sucks are all the sensors and computers used to get this better mileage/ performance.
    Personally I love the size and design. It's big enough that you don't feel cramped and you can load stuff in the back if needed, flip the seats down. Its jacked up you can crawl underneath and change the oil or whatever. And you can look out the side or back window. But at the same time its not a big vehicle- so easy to drive. For me I was hoping they would bring something like this back since my old one is falling apart maybe one day I can buy a newer version of it.

      First if it is build for harsh condition so it means it is more solid than a normal car suv on the road. With Ford i would do a rust protection e-coating, to be sure i can keep it more than 10 years until solid state battery arrive in 6/7 years and they create a full electric bronco sport with 500 miles autonomy and 10 mins charge in 2025/2028. I think with rust protection added and after a year they fix the production error ( it is a complete new vehicle so it is normal the production will have a couple of glitch or mistake due to new process). I really think it will be a solid vehicle. The reviews are very good overall. I recommend the badlands for off road because it has liquid cooling transmission system to limit overheating in very difficult and intense off road. Also it has better suspension, bash plates better angles attack and departure and better water fording. The tyres are bigger and better ground clearance.

    It’s about time someone made an SUV an SUV again and not a curved round thing like all the other compact SUVs. This is like the old XJ Cherokee. A box shape to maximize storage space and has some off road capabilities! Its not the big bronco but it will be capable enough at off roading for most people.

    The exterior styling is and absolute win. So glad to be moving away from the jellybean suv look. The interior, a little less exciting. The dashboard is boring and it needs a shift knob. Not down with the washing machine dial shifter. My RAV4 is strong at 164,000 miles. Tires brakes an oil changes only. Can Ford come close to that? I hope so. I really do love this Bronco. Likely my next car. By the time I’m ready to buy, we should know if they turn out to be decent, or just another recall lemon!
