We have the Bronco Sport Outer Banks with the 1.5L Turbo Charged Engine. We are at 28.9 MPG and have been holding at that for months. The 1.5 in Sport mode is fun to drive and has a lot of "zip" when needed. Taking it trail riding is fun and it does what we need it to do but it mostly stays on pavement....like most vehicles out there.
Although the full-size would be nice we just don't use our vehicles like most dream of when buying the "Off Roaders"...the dream of rock climbing, going 50 miles an hour through mud, through rivers and down mountain sides like we see Off-Roaders advertised in Commercials.
I owned a Jeep Wrangler Sahara (Never left the pavement) and a Hummer H3 (Took it on the Beach....Once). Loved both of those vehicles for their own reasons but like 90% of the people who buy "Off-Road" and never leave the pavement....I can't see myself dropping that much for the Big Bronco other than for the Status of owning it.

I've had my 4 door full size Badlands Sasquatch soft top with the Lux package for 5 months now and I absolutely love it. Driving around with the top down is pretty incredible with no crossbar behind the driver seat for the full open-air experience. I've also never owned anything that has gotten more compliments around town, everyone loves the way the real Bronco looks. Plus I get around 19 mpg in my 2.3L which has more than enough power with the 300 horsepower. Full size Bronco all day every day!

I'd go for the Bronco Sport. Especially as a daily driver. I don't do a lot of off road driving, so I don't need all the tech the full size Bronco offers. And the Bronco sits too high above the ground.
    Just a few corrections:
1.The Bronco does not compete with the Honda Passport. The Passport can't even compete with the 4runner, despite the 4runner being 9 years older.
2.As at the date of this comment (23rd February 2022), there are now three engine options for the Bronco, the third engine being a 3.0 twin turbo V6. You can only get that engine on the Raptor, though. Power and torque haven't been confirmed for the Bronco Raptor, but based on the 2023 Ranger Raptor with a similar, if not the same engine, power is expected to be rated at about 392 HP. I'm guessing 400 because of the added weight.

I have the Bronco Sport Badlands 2021, and i love it. It is a really good car. I took it with all options. I must say the car is very well sound insulated, that you can listen classical music with quality sounding at low volume. You don’t hear other cars, the engine sounds is very subtle, with low very low wind noise. With music at low volume you don’t hear the engine at constant speed. The sound system B&O is excellent with real surround sound. And i like you hear a nice low turbo sound when you accelerate that is not disturbing the music. The Bronco Sport Badland 2.0L turbo is fantastic.

I had a 2014 Ford escape which is basically the same car and when I went camping now I'm 5'7 I know I could lay down in the back but it was pretty darn close like inches and when it was me and my dog in there along with some camping stuff it was fairly enough room but it was enough as long as you don't roll over in your sleep a lot and I would definitely say you want the two leader I had a 2014 Ford escape and I put a tiny lift on and I'll train tires basically trying to turn it into what the broncosport is now and I freaking loved it and it did amazingly well for not hardcore off-roading but dealing with mud snow I was in Flagstaff at the time so a lot of snow and ice and just getting out there to go camping and stuff it was actually really good and the braking system to keep traction actually works really well under light load but if you get to the point where you have to floor to get out you're just going to be spinning but when you're just cruising and not pushing the gas pedal a lot it actually modulates the tires really well to not get stuck for something that was never meant to do that and I'm sure the bronco sport does even better now with it's different drive modes I actually have a bronco in order and I'm and I didn't realize the gas mileage would be so terrible on the bronco it has a 2-liter with a 7-speed manual I know it's basically a brick but I really thought that I would get it better gas mileage I've read a lot of people only getting like 15 miles GMC Sierra with my 5.3 LS V8

Not all big Broncos are capable of getting "up the mountain". It's not until you get half-way up the models do you get the skid plates. If you want the unlocking anti-roll bar, that's pretty close to the top of the totem pole. However, the Sport Badlands has an 4WD that is very capable and has a clutch to lock the rear diff. Sure, it's not a true locking diff, but the clutch does a great job. Would I take a Sport Badlands rock crawling, probably not, but I sure have taken mine up a cinder cone volcano and a number of dirt roads. It's a fun truck! PS: It's got enough oomph to pull a tear-drop camper.

I have the hardtop big bronco and I drive 50mi a day back and forth to work and it’s perfectly fine. Wind noise isn’t an issue, you can HEAR it slightly when you’re up to 60/70mph but not as bad as described. Maybe if you’re used to zero noise/noise cancelling cabins but convos in normal voices are easily had. I average about 19mpg but that’s about what I did with my mustang. If you want something that makes sense everyday driving and still be pretty good offroad and the cool factor is not a prority then the bronco sport makes more sense especially the 250hp badlands with some proper offroad tires. Its pretty impressive what they can do offroad.

I have a Bronco Sport. I’m not really a macho man who needs to continuously exaggerate my manhood. I am a female RN who needed a car to go back and forth to work (500 miles a week). Since Ford won’t produce cars anymore I had to give my poor 2015 Taurus SHO a respit and look for a new car. My Taurus has 202k miles and still runs like a beast. Anyway, I had looked for months at mid size SUVs and cars. I like the look and size of the Sport and I get 30 mpg. Taurus got 22. People can hate but it’s a good car. And I can park it like a normal person and pay way less in fuel. It does say Bronco on it so where is the problem? Bitch at Ford not the consumers haters

I currently have a 2022 Bronco Sport Badlands (2.0 Liter Ecoboost) and find it very capable as both a daily driver and an off-road worthy vehicle for Minnesota. I paid $30/k for it used with 17/k miles on it. I can put on a lift-kit of 2" (or more) and add nice big wide all-terrain tires to it and greatly improve it's ability to compete much better with a full-size Bronco offroad should I want to. It would certainly be a lot less spendy than shelling out $62/k for the full-size Bronco (as shown in this video) by far. I have seen price tags for full-size Bronco's of $70/k or much more on dealer's showrooms. I'd tell Ford to rename the Bronco Sport to the Bronco II (like the old days) and be done with it. Offer both and let the public decide it's marketable fate with our current/future economy.

For me it came down to price. The big Bronco base is going for about 55k+ in my area, the Bronco sport is still at MSRP. So we got the '22 baby Bronco Big Bend. I couldn't bring myself to pay so much over MSRP for the big one and the local dealership said we would have to wait to place an order for a 2023 model to get it at its proper cost. Wind noise is probably my chief complaint of the sport, especially compared to the Dodge Durango or my wife's Discovery. That and there is a strange rumble under my left foot when I'm driving between 10 and 25 mph. But I like it. It's responsive when getting on the gas pedal, more so than the Tiguan I had before it with a bigger motor. MPG is not as advertised, but neither was my fusion until about 5k, so I assume that is going to be the same here. It's definitely not the worst vehicle I've purchased (Kia Optima, I'm looking at you). Got it in the ugly cyber orange which still looks yellow to me, but the looks and points from those in town are probably making it grow on me as well lol.

Not a trustworthy engine. Not buying a 1.5 due to name. If i have to drive it in sport mode for on ramps to highways to get up...you get my point......bronco sport badlands I ended up with. Mountain biking fisherman, and downhill skier. It was the sweet spot for me . It's the vehicle that sits in between a outback and a 4 runner. . Thats my Best description. It's a pity that you didn't do more comparison of how much Bronco is more capable than Bronco sport. Because the fact that it is more capable is no question. The real thing is: how much does the extra price tag actually buy?

Meanwhile in UK 🇬🇧 petrol ⛽️ (gas prices) are around $2.15 per litre, or $8.15 per US 🇺🇸 Gallon 😬

The Bronco Sport shares design cues from the first gen Explorer. However, the first gen Explorer was based on the Ranger platform much like the full-sized Bronco.

My wife wants a mini bronco.
I drove the 1.5 liter with the 8 speed and wasn't a fan. It never knew what gear it wanted to be in. Was under powered. Maybe the badlands edition is better with the 2 L. That's getting really expensive though for a mini bronco and is approaching the cost of the regular bronco I want.
Really, I should just get her the outer banks mini bronco and she'll be happy, get decent gas mileage Then I'll buy a truck and and eventually older wrangler or used 2 door Bronco when you can actually get ahold of one.

Idk probably dose not happening very often . The Jeeps spare is easily accessible. Just imagine you are heading out to go camping in you're Bronco Sport and have it fully loaded with gear and have a flat tire going to look like a yard sell on the side of the road to access the spare.

As soon as it’s feasible. I’m trading in my Bronco Sport outer banks for a full size manual. Not to to mention it’s getting harder and harder to get manual transmissions.

Ok im not sure why Bronco sport keeps getting compare size wise to a subaru crosstrek, though I've never parked my Bronco sport next to crosstrek, my daughter owns a forester and tbough I've never actually measured the length of each. When parked next to one another They are pretty close lengthwise.

IMO, the Bronco Sport is a better Escape. But the Bronco is body on frame, shares nothing with the Explorer except the base engine and 10 speed automatic transmission. I'd call the Bronco the Ranger of SUVs.
