KababFPV
Hey, I checked out that link that you were wondering about. I must have looked at it for a full minute or more before it occurred to me to touch one of the seemingly useless band of titles across the page (I’m on my iPad). Of course I went for the Drones & RC text and was very surprised to find a bunch of very good deals, e.g. X9 Lite with standard gimbals for $89.
Not nearly as good as the deal you swung for us plain folks out here in UA-camLand. Honestly, I appreciated it very much (I’m assuming here that the “...KABA” in the coupon code has something to do with you, or have I made an ass out of me, and me?). It’s great to get significant savings on something that I was considering for my squadron.
Great videos, by the way. I’m always happy to see a new posting from you in my subscription feed. Probably because I’ve always been a “techie”; my roots go back to vacuum tubes through discrete transistors and on to the very first ICs and 8 bit microprocessors. I’ve had a lot of fun over the many years trying to, and pretty well succeeding at, keep up with the unthinkable changes that have happened in science and engineering. And now, here I am wearing FPV goggles and flying a whoop around my house and yard. Amazing fun!
I’ve got a couple of 5” quads under construction now, as well as a stable full of assorted whoops. I spend a fair amount of time on UA-cam studying how all of you ace engineers and hotdog pilots go about doing stuff so I can hopefully learn from everybody else’s mistakes in addition to all the ones I will dream up all on my own. Well, I’ve bent your ear long enough.
Thanks again for making the effort to put this kind of content out online and for all you do for the community.

Its aaaa sneak peak?!
@@Denis_3301 yeah kabab's gonna do a waterproof and buoyant drone next: the mouthwash
@@gavinvales8928 which will certainly perform "REALLY WELL"!!!
I just received mine this week and was checking how people were putting a battery on it. It comes shrink wrapped pretty good that's for sure.
I need some of those 65mm props for 1.5mm shaft, my attempt at making 1mm shaft props into 1.5mm didn't end up as precise as I'd liked.
Are you going to get a 73g or less toothpick quad on the market with KababFPV stamped on it? If so, put me on the pre-order list.
Exactly which props for this kit? 1mm 1.5mm? And pitch? Gemfan? Happymodel? Are all 65mm props the same? Anyone? Thanks
If I need to look up a diagram for the FC to connect the reciever, what board name would I google?
Ummmm geprc Toothpick board? They only have two boards. A 20A one and a 12A one
Bob have you tested that GepRC 12a all in one? And what do you think about the Gnarly FPV Primo?
Both are fine. Neither one is perfect in my opinion
Do you know how much less flight time you get with this vs the sailfly/reddevil?
About a minute less but it entirely depends on how you fly. Sailfly can be the same around 2-3min if you're racing. Both can be as much as 6min if you cruise however
Great review, Bob!!! 😃
I liked a LOT the frame! Looking forward to see what you create! 😃
Thanks for this video, can this setup fly for 5 minutes on 3s lipo?
Probably on a 450mah 3s if you don't push it too hard
I’m looking to purchase my next toothpick and wonder - based on your experience- which is more durable: frames with both a bottom and top carbon fiber plate (geprc phantom, tinyhawk freestyle etc) or those with a carbon frame but a plastic/TPU canopy (geprc skip 3, larva x etc)?
None of them really because unibody frames will always break. Individual arms that can be replaced are going to be the most durable. Otherwise you've gotta assess the design of the uni-body to see if it will hold up as you'd expect it to. I wouldn't say a carbon plate on top or plastic is necessarily more durable but for the most part the carbon top wouldn't break like a plastic one can.
So, after watching this vid about the phantom and how your making something similar and your last one on quad theory about the rear props performing better with a wider gap from the front props(stretched x), I started wondering if you had any plans on releasing a a stretched x version of the toothpick, and yeh, I know about the full speed one, just don't want that one, it seems poorly designed to me.
On this tiny size class, the disk loading properties are so good and overall thrust generation so low that they don't really see that sort of effect. That's why the toothpick is just an X
Which battery were you running on it? Seems like those little stubby GNB 600MAh batteries are a hair lighter than the long skinny 2S batteries of similar or less capacity (which makes sense).
450 2s GNB
I have a Lot of vibrations on Stock PIDs. Am i the only one? What settings did you guys use?
I almost always set default betaflight and just increase TPA
looks like the weight causes it to sink some on loops. Why 8kv for 2s? am I missing something or just wrong? 10kv would be better. Dig the stack but hate pins as they have tended to fail on many stacks.
anything above 8K draws too many amps and you need larger batteries which makes the quad heavier and reduces the control performance. I actually feel that 7500 K is a better number for 2s. I forgot to mention it but the way that they have mounted this stock is very good and the connections between the boards do not have a big chance of breaking. The whole stack is mounted on solid screws that will not move and all those screws are soft mounted to the main deck
@@Kabab Bob I bought the fullspeed toothpick frame and just used all of the tinyleader electronics on it but I did change out the esc to the airbot 18amp 4 in 1 when the stock esc burned out on my tinyleader. The tiny leader's motors are 11,000kv or that is what is printed on them. The thing flies great with no issues and I get 4 to 5 minutes out of it.
For a moment i thought this was the first of your "collaborations" but instead is just a teaser for what is yet to come! can't wait but i will!
How loud is the phantom compared to your 1S brushed Prius quad?
The 1s BabyTooth is about half as loud. The disk loading ratio of it is way better. But both are not really loud
Your videos are so informative.. In the description you say under recommended equipment to hold off on any 22xx motors because of a bug in betaflight. Does that include my Emaxx hawk 5 with 2206 motors ? Which version of BF ? Peace brother
Pretty much any BF 3.0 and up has the annoying issue. I made a video about it a while back. If you search my channel for wobble you'll probably find it to see what it is. Not many even notice it but it makes it near unflyable to me.
This frame could work with a AIO and Vista 20x20 stack and 1206 motors?
I wouldn't recommend it. It would be very weak, very crammed and very inefficient. But sure it will probably work
KababFPV I’m looking for a micro that flies like or close to a 5” using the DJI Vista, I’m thinking about a 1206 4500kv with a 3x2.5x3 prop and a 3s 550mha in a AUW of 150g, or I should use a 6500kv in this setup?
they had one of those at the iflight booth at IO
Not sure If GepRC are making any of their electronics but it all seems to be good kit.
Hi, I did build my Phantom Toothpick from parts. Could you please provide me PID settings as I do not have defaults from factory. Many thanks!
They come with default BF settings from the factory and that's what I was running here I believe.
@@Kabab Yes I know but I die build it from parts thus I do not have default settings ;/
Little question, shall i buy 4x2 2s Alienmodel LiPo’s or shall i buy 3x2 3s LiPo’s, is there actually that much difference between 2 and 3s,?
What's 4x2 and 3x2? 3s is more voltage which will give you a lot more power. 2s is just not as powerful
@@Kabab like 4 times a 2pcs lipo, so i get 8 lipo’s in total with the 2s, and 3x2 i mean with 3 times a 2piece battery
You mean you want to buy either four 2s. Batteries or three 3s batteries? Either I'm not understanding your question or you're not understanding what S means. Each cell of a battery is 3.7v. If you stack two of them, you get 7.2v (this is 2s). If you stack 3 of them you get 11.1v (this is 3s). In both situations, it's still one battery. They just have a different number of cells.
Did you try the iflight aio whoop board with vtx?
I have six of them. Same exact thing
How are you flying 2s with the voltage showing 3.5v....hmmm?🤔
Avg voltage
Have you seen Drone Camps review of this quad? His weighed in at 54g dry and 78g with a 300 3s....I wonder why your example is so much heavier? His had the 16x16 stack too btw. Perhaps Justin needs to calibrate his scale....?
Mine is a solid 82g with the 450mah 2S or 300mah 3S. Both the 450x2 and 300x3 is the same weight.
I'm very interested to see what you have coming up in the 3 inch department Bob!
The only problem I've found with this stack is the vtx tends to over heat very quickly. I often times have no video until I arm and the props can cool things down for a few seconds. Super frustrating if you need to change anything in the menu
how much power to they vtx ?
How reliable are these ESC flight controller stacks? I checked the Airbot websites and didn't see anything similar.
I know you've had physics, I think you're trying to say minimize angular moment of inertia will minimize the force necessary and increase the speed of rotation, I=Mr*2.
I've been holding off going into the toothpick realm waiting for a mature product.
Yep exactly. Minimizing angular momentum is the key. The electionics are alright. Not really mature yet. Maybe in another 2-3mo. But they are mostly reliable now.
Hey Kabab. I'm looking to get a 3" or similar sized quad. I was going to get your Diatone GTB339 but unfortunately, it is not in stock anymore and I've been told that some vendors are no longer carrying it. Something with good Freestyle capabilities and good flight times. 3.5-4+ minutes would be great! Is there anything that stands out that you would recommend me checking out?
Thanks!
Give it another month. We'll have a slew of new options that should be significantly better than anything else available now
@@Kabab Oooo, awesome! I can't wait, Thanks :)
@@Kabab Any updates?
@@FineVisionz they say shipping to us in 10 days. We'll see
Getting close to what I want, battery on top, a tad more room to work and prop separation. I would think a smaller version of the Toothfairy with a solid bottom plate would be perfect.
I've got something pretty cool coming
You need the smart 35
hi kabab, this frame support 12xx motor ?
Yep
Kabab, what do you think of those 65mm props from Pyro-drone... I just got the 1.5mm orange and blue ones... Do you have faith in them, good balance?
Those are the designs I worked on. There's an even newer updated design coming from Gemfan very soon too. Both excellent.
@@Kabab thank you my friend, I'm using them to replace the Sailfly stock props, too much weirdness seeing it roll on the camera feed with high throttle manuevers ---- Cheers
@@SmoothCruizer37 I found that my sailfly is actually extremely sensitive to what props I put on it. I couldn't get mine to work well with any other prop but the specific set it came with. Even a swap to another of the same set wasn't as good. I have no idea why but just don't expect it to be perfect maybe. Some swapping aroud props may be needed. I dunno why mine was so sensitive
this one or the iflight 120rs ,,both for 2s lipo
I'd recommend you build your own. It's gonna be way way better than anything you can buy.
Bob, you are the man but I have a hard time calling this a “toothpick”. It’s more of a traditional kwads only “ultra micro”. After watching all of your videos it departs your OG design. I love the toothpick designs because they have long flight time, won’t hurt anyone if you hit them and so on. The designs lately have all about power.
I agree that besides the 65mm props, we're straying away from Bob's original idea. I have a couple of RMRC Newt frames I want to experiment with using the electronics from a Spedix Rex 80. I believe that's more in line with the Toothpick concept.
Hi Bob, did you already see or test the new FullSpeed Toothpick PRO 120mm version?
What are your thoughts on it, is it better than the normal version? Or is the GEPRC Phantom the best toothpick out there?
2s or 3s?which way is the toothpick market going?
2s to 4s now. I don't see a point to the pro. It's just super duper powerful for no real reason
I would have actually preffered the version with the AIO board i think. First it would have been easier to convert it to a toothpick frame. Second thing, i'm kind of concerned with is how the boards are conencted to eachother. They are connected with those really small pins, which tend to break easy, especially if the boards are softmounted and have some play between eachother. If one pin breaks, you are just SOOL as the board will be useless. They don;t seem to be selling those boards seperate yet (or the whole stack fot that matter)..
Really what is the difference other than vanity target names.
This one ours the batt on top but the standoffs are too tall due to the need to fit the camera so it's a bit wonky feeling as a result of the increased wright distribution
On the geprc homepage you can order the stack version 👍
What about 1104’s so few options and the T-motor seems to be the only one of quality.
I've got two new custom motors coming and a super special prop. They will be all anyone should consider moving forward IMO. The new toothpick class I've been working on is absolutely incredible: ua-cam.com/video/e9Om0nR9uzk/v-deo.html
Have it on the bench, waiting for 2S and 3S batteries... Geprc has an 1105 motor option out now, that might be cool on this quad ;)
But 'I have to say I simply respect GEPRC products and their efforts because they work AND perform. Have owned nearly all of their quads and use a lot of their stacks in my builds because I want to fly and not fiddle around, the stuff works. Would LOVE to see a Kabab / GEPRC colloba more than anything else !
1105 is much more powerful but it also draws a LOT more amps and weighs more. I personally prefer it with the 1103's
I replaced my Crazybee F4 V2 with this flightcontroller, its a nice board.
Is it night and day difference
@@ChrisParayno its a beast controller
Great review on this toothpick style quad. "Ramses is number one" (Nacho Libre), KababFPV in this instance .
What battery would you raccomend?
Gnb 450mah 2s
Perfect
Hey KababFPV! You should talk to your friends at EMAX about working together on a Tinhawk-compatible Toothpick. I'm always recommending the Tinyhawk to folks that want to try out FPV.
I would love it if I could point them to a Toothpick as their first upgrade for flying outdoors. Something light. Something safe. It would be especially awesome if it were optimized for their existing Tinyhawk batteries, use the charger they already have, and even better if it is compatible with the Tinyhawk bundle's transmitter.
You have the right idea. I started one of my buddies with a Spedix Rex 80. I figured he could re-use the electronics in a "real frame" eventually.
Like the Tinyhawk 2 freestyle? 😀
Been waiting for a while now! Hurry up, or i'll stop flossing.
I promise to try to not ask you another question. Only answer if you have time some day. I will be using your links to buy. So I picked up a phantom and I was flying it and my battery schooched over and one of the propellers hit the battery. All of the propellers immediately turned off. It was like the whole phantom powered down in the sky and came crashing down. I was just curious if when 1 propeller senses an obstruction, if it stops all power to the other propellers? Once the 1 propeller hit the battery, the phantom sounded like it turned off completely as it came down from sky. I thought I would have heard the blades struggling and spinning, but no. Just silence as it fell to earth. Does it sense a blade obstruction and then power down the others?
For the phantom.....oh you mean this thing right. Not a DJI 😂. No that usually doesn't happen at all. You must have had some sort of power loss somewhere. Power lines were probably cut. Did the video feed cut out?
KababFPV sir I wanted to follow up with you what occurred. I had the XM+ receiver and I guess when I was too close to transmitter it was experiencing the “swamping effect”
thank you for always being a great resource
@@Cc-nj2zm yes when it's too close it looses reception. That's due to radio waves and how they work.

Awesome flying!
Thank you for the explanation. Just none last thing, are betaflight dev’s aware and going to fix it or should I completely stay away from all 22xx motors? You only fly 23xx motors now.
Peace my friend. I really appreciate your opinions and research 👍👍✌️
The devs are aware but unknown if working on it
200mw VTX and Crossfire.... throw that toothpick like a javelin and launch it long distance.
Neat. GEPRC makes some good stuff. Nice flying too, and location. I wonder why the trees are growing like that?
I can wait.
Great Flying!
👍😀👍
I love this one!!
Sweet. You got to name the class.
Why o why? No toothpick frame should be more than 12grams ... you loose that wonderful lightness (sorry just whinging out load)
I've seen tons of heavier toothpicks that are awesome for freestyle. You want a little more weight so it can carry momentum through your flicks and tosses. For racing its prob better to be lighter obviously. Guess it depends on your fly style and what you're using it for
Kabab, wait your saying the phantom does not come with this AIO stack rather the whoop style board. If so that’s a let down cause that’s what had me interested in this one. Again why I don’t by RTF..
If you gonna make something with the iflight or Similar AIO stack with top mount I think I’ll wait then.. maybe I’ll build your traditional toothpick first, but dang they are soo crammed under that hood..🍻
Damn, all I could think while watching the dvr was: "How many toothpicks did you already lose in treetops?"
Great flying - but the quad does seem a bit heavy, I think I'd rather go with a DIY one than a bnf toothpick :)
I actually haven't lost a single one in this area. I've only ever lost three quads in five or more years. One of them was to a treetop around my area and it's still there. It's been there for about 2 years. another one was to a lake in San Francisco which I was just dumb and flying too low to the water. And a third one is the stupidest one in a little valley after hitting a ghost branch and I was just too lazy to get it
I've been absolutely punishing this geprc aio on 3s and can't kill it. I'm going to beat on it some right now. got it stuck up in a tree and saw temp warning at 90c on the screen and it's still going. I asked gemfan if they can make a tri-blade 65mm prop and they asked if i wanted it just like the 2 blade and i said "YES! Don't change a thing. just add 1 more blade" All the 2.5 inch triblade options are wide and heavy. I hope they can make it happen. The bi-blades are fine, but i miss my grip of a triblade.
I have some prototypes of this prop in triblade. It's too much for the tiny motors unfortunately. Better grip and nicer control when going slow but no throttle feel at all and much much slower.
I'd go with a 1304 if triblade version of this prop
@@Kabab I got a good deal on t-motor 1106 6000kv motors. I'm hoping they can spin a light weight 3 inch triblade on 3s with no problem. The thing is all the 3 inch triblades for 1.5mm shafts are heavy! A 65mm triblade should come in at .6 grams or less, half the weight of all the other 3 inch triblades for 1.5mm shafts. There aren't many 1304 motors out there and we know once you go up to 1306 it starts getting heavy. I don't understand why a 2.5 inch triblade needs to weigh 1.3 grams.🤣 Gemfan will probably make it, completely change it and make it fat and heavy.🤬
I debate if it should be mandatory for every fpv pilot to own one of these little guys.. 👍🏻
So I really want a bnf toothpick.. but if I were to send my money to anybody i would want it to be @KababFPV.. so where do I send my money?
Hold on. I'm working on a bunch of stuff and I'm figuring out ways to secure things. Currently I'm waiting for the special motors I'm having Tmotor make me to be ready for testing.
That honking frame. Uggh.
The one in the link seems to have an AIO board. So little information in the page I feel like it'd be a miracle if it arrives with the same hardware as you reviewed
I literally said in the video that the link is to the one with the all-in-one board and not the stack that I have. I literally spent two minutes talking about that. In fact the very next line after the link I believe says that this is the all-in-one version or maybe the line before the link

Dont know why i clicked on this but i always love watching a kabab video, dont know how you have time to make videos when you are a dentist. You are probably an alien than doesnt sleep lol
It's getting quite difficult lately actually. I'm gonna need to slow down or stop sometime somewhat soon probably unless I start making reasonable money from this all
@@Kabab yea take it easy man. 👌 Dont forget to floss.
I lold at the end
Very interesting thumbnail so it's get delivered in its own condom for extra protection?
Coming from protection the arms should be bigger at the end the motor is completely unprotected
Yep 😁 (to both)
Want!!
Mine is on its way! I can't wait to see what else you have coming so I can add it to my ever growing toothpick fleet. I love this class as the performance is there and no one cares about them when you fly them. I have plenty of 2s and 3s XT30 equipped batteries ready to go!
The Condom Quad! 🤪
First thing I said also when I saw this and looked at the specs... *Too heavy!* Why, oh why do they have to keep thinking INSIDE the box and not venture out into some frame that isn't a traditional looking old boring frame from 3 years ago, but smaller! Come on guys, have some imagination!! 😉The same ole 3 stack, the same ole looking frame. *GepRC, experiment, dream, invent!* Geez! Same shit, diffferent day, shrunk down! Ugh! *BORING!*
Plus, way too expensive, for *NO INNOVATION!* 😩
Scoot Roter Exactly how I feel about most of these micros that are thrown into the market on a weekly basis. Maximus FPV and Tomoquads are my favorite frame designers. Their frames are a pleasure to look at, unlike this one from GEPRC. It might sound stupid, but I can't really enjoy a well flying quad if it's ugly or uninspired. It has to have a good amount of Mojo, so that it can be flown with absolute pleasure.
@@powdermonkey447 I hear ya! This shows absolutely no originality. Completely uninspiring!
What's with the thumbnail?
That's how it arrives so I just put it on the pool and took a picture
I think that giveaway-list in that link is just the products you are offered to do giveaways with, but they probably would require a review of the product before the giveaway 😆 And make the list public, so people can nag at you about what they want in the giveaways probably 🤣
This day and age to add extra single use plastic like in the thumb nail is pretty bad
Lol that thumbnail
I did a bachelor thesis in engineering on the inertia vs drag of the prop. And the results are that the inertial mass sucks up about 20% of the Power and 80% is drag, only in the very center part of the rpm range and is more like 1 to 10 in the remaining range.
And also the motor bell is 50% of the inertia of the system.
This was studied on Old rs2306 2300kv and cyclone 5045
Modern motors tend to have less inertia.
Very interesting. But some modern motors have super beefcake magnets...so does that offset the inertia?
@@Kabab magnets add both inertia and torque, so it's impossible to say without looking at the motor. But torque increases with cubic root of magnet thickness, inertia about linearly. So i prefer bigger/taller stator and thinner magnets over small motor with super beefy magnets, if they have the same weight.
@@Kabab I'm guessing it makes the rotational inertia greater, but narrower stators and more outright power probably makes up for it. Going to N52SH-Arc is theoretically best, and slightly narrower magnets on paper should make the best 'feel', but big honking magnets and fat flux rings still tend to work best, especially with props that tend towards durable
I'm done investing in 2S 'Picks until I see your new offerings. #baitedbreath
3" is gonna be 450mah 3s for sure.
Wtf where is the video on it being packed in plastic bag
Well I opened it....
Have you tried the gemfan xrotor 2535 4-blade prop? What I ended up finding is that as a 4-blade it is extramly quiet. Unbelievable quite in fact compared to the normal 65mm props out there. m.banggood.com/4-Pairs-Gemfan-RotorX-2535-2_5-Inch-2-Blade-to-4-Blade-Propeller-CW-CCW-for-RC-Drone-FPV-Racing-p-1521639.html?akmClientCountry=America&rmmds=myorders
More blades tend to be quieter but the little 1103 motors imo don't have the torque to manage such a prop as easily as a twin blade. The throttle will feel like it does nothing in the top half of the travel range.
It is a real shame that this didn't come with an actual toothpick frame.. All the other available BNF's are just not that great it seems, but this has the components to be really great, it just lacks the lightweight frame... We could just built ourselfs, but that would up the price by some margin compared to those pre-builds.
The thing i love most about those toothpick builds is the flight time and that it is nearly impossible to hurt someone with it. But this one seems to fall short on those cons.
This one is not that different than all the other frames. It just has a top plate. It weighs about 6g more than others total AUW and I'd say is just as safe. It just may seem larger and heavier in my video because it looks like a full quad.
@@Kabab compared to the sailfly/reddevil is is 16 grams heavier, which I guess is a lot for such a light quad.
I went with this one after watching your review... I was pretty sure it arrived broken. Ordered 2nd one. Same issue. Tried different goggles and issue is still the same no matter the distance or orientation. Got tired and going to build one from scratch based on your TP3 design though shipping prices from US are crazy :D Do you have any ideas on that VTX interference i'm getting on phantom ?
ua-cam.com/video/TKDT3CdENis/v-deo.html
yep vtx is broken. Nothing is interfering. It's gonna eventually just stop working if you keep running it. Sorry :-(. Welcome to China QC
@@Kabab You want funny fact? If i record in goggle DVR image is perfectly clean....
@@_Furey_ wow that is interesting. I've seen a DVR that doesn't pickup the osd somehow
Having earache because of wind sound . Who agree with me?
I just use my phone. Soon I'll be moving indoors
Great 😍 👍 👍 👍
Dont talk nonsense, they do all come with the 16x16 stack. Also the heavy weight is good for freestyle.
At the time of this video, only the whoop board option was available
KababFPV you also say it needs more power, but you ran it with 2s and not 3s?
@@o3rMeNs the motors are not of 3s kv. They are 2s motors. 3s is a waste and the motors would just destroy the battery.
@@Kabab Do you have the old version with 10000kv or new 8000kv? Many people run the 8000kv motors (which they come with) with 3s batteries and it runs great. You even say in this video you can run 3s with perhaps a bit of throttle cut. Again..... don't talk nonsense.
@@o3rMeNs mine is 10k kv. It's not a 3s kv.
Center of mass densely focused? Your post edit correction made me jiggle. I love Geprc stuff, but I would NEVER buy anything from them with the word "toothpick" on it. Unless you get paid for due royalties. Speaking of buying your stuff, please don't forget my ultralight 2200mAh 7 inch frame. And yes, I always floss, just like the good Doctor always tells me to.
Unfortunately there's nothing I can do to protect anything these days. I'm just sharing a lot less while I try to navigate the china environment. Quite annoying. Working on the 7" design. Need to get the props out of view for sure on this one...
@@Kabab I know there's very little you can do. But as far as I'm concerned, GEPRC is not getting my dollars, at least for "their" toothpicks. That's for sure.
@@AdrianoCasemiro Speaking of collaborations, Diatone will offer the Airblade Intrepid V2 as a BNF with their electronics. I wonder how the deal worked for Nguyen...
