the band was the start of a marketing campaign, same goes for every pop band. also nirvana.where is your teen revolution now? they paid to be part of a subculture... now it's dead like everything that makes money
Pretty sad how just because the "normies" start liking something the subculture dies. I get it if the band sells out in order to achieve success like Sugar Ray did right around the same time but Korn stayed true to themselves. I guess they did have that one album with Skrillex but I still don't really consider that selling out, they tried something different after 20 years

The very first title I ever heard from Korn. I still remember when and how. We were outside in a swamp area for school, observing frogs for Natural Sciences, and one of my schoolmates was listening to his K7 walkman (it was in 1995, I was 15), he came near me and gave me one the ear devices, saying "listen, do you know that?", I put the ear device to ... my ear (yes!), and then I hear SAL intro " ??? " ... and when the song starts to go wild "Holy shit what is this? This is fucking good!" My mate replies " The name is Korn ". Since then I became an instant fan. Sorry for my English, I'm French so please forgive me in case of mistakes.
This song is about how nursery rhymes have evil meanings behind them, for example, "ring around the rosie" was about the black plague
I just realized that.. xD
I mean, I knew those nursery rhymes had dark meanings, but I didn't know the song was about that
i thought it was about the monopoly mans anamorphic shoe
It was a common belief back then that diseases were spread by smell. They countered the disease using things that covered the smell. It didn't actually work, though. There are of course still people claiming things like lavender to have such healing powers, but they're usually the same people trying to sell "natural remedies" at incredibly high prices. Go figure.
That is a common trope, but historians reject that and say that the rhyme is not nearly that old.
+Malcolm its a fact that lavender has medicinal value. It has antiviral, antibacterial, antimicrobial, &antifungal properties. in western medicine docs are not required to learn about homeopathic remedies to get their license. but it is practiced by some that wanted to include learning these methods that been around for centuries.
Not too proud of it today, but in 2015 I was in the hallways of school by myself one morning. I had a girl in high school along with others that bothered me every day like clock work. I had my earbuds in listening to this one morning... The girl who had previously called my dad a cripple and verbally tortured me for a while decides to literally start screaming at me. I barely heard her over this song in my ears. I remember the song being at Jon breathing... Right when she started at me and it hit the hard "knick knack paddy whack" I smashed her mouth. She fell on her ass and I though, "holy shit I am suspended." She never bothered me again though.
That's wonderful, felt good to read actually

They are not even in that dimension
The fact that he can make simple child nursery rhymes into a demonic sounding thing is soo cool. He is a lyrical genius.
Just think about Jingle Bells. Who would've thought they'd ever managed to make that into such a headbanger.
Slade Woodward that's the thing, he didn't, and this song is their worst song. I'm a huge Korn fan by the way, but it's not lyrical genius to take already existing lyrics and say that you wrote them, and it doesn't sound demonic. It just sounds like some high dude sung nursery rhymes and added a badass chorus to them, which is the only part of the song that is actually good. Examples of actual lyrical genius, just from the same album, are Helmet in the Bush, Clown and Fake.
Denolact Go away lmao. You don't even like Korn. Let people like what they like without you forcing them to denounce hem. They sound badass. Go cry to your mommy about it.

So, I'm a senior in high school right now. I've been enrolled into a new school my senior year and it sucks. I've also been battling my wretched sadness and maybe depression (my physician says I have it).
It's been hard for me; especially since I've felt sad and alone since the 7th grade.
Recently, I found out that some genres of music reflect my moods (doesn't it do it for everybody?).
The thing is, with Korn, it's like, all my moods. If I'm upset, I listen to Korn.
If I'm happy, I listen to Korn.
If I'm mad, I listen to Korn.
If I'm bored, then I listen to Korn.
Some of Korn's songs also have deep meanings; the lyrics that are also used hit different at times. Some feel really heavy while others are light. It's weird and unique and so interesting to listen to. It's what makes them enjoyable.
So far my senior year is going by slow, since I joined school 3-4 weeks late. Korn has made me more happy when I feel alone, or sad. I try not to embarrass myself by head bopping outta nowhere.
